German Emperor II. Wilhelm sent the fountain he had built in Germany in 1901 to Istanbul as a gift to Sultan Abdulhamit. It is located in Sultanahmet Square. Its architecture is different from Ottoman architecture and European architecture. The purpose of the gift is written in the inscription on the fountain as a memory of gratitude.
Sultan Ahmed Mosque or known as Blue Mosque was built by Ottoman Turks in 1616. You will be glazed with more than 20.000 handmade blue colored tiles inside. With the ostrich eggs hanged on the chandelier.

I was intimated about Istanbul and the millennia of history that it held, I really wanted to do it right. We booked a day long Istanbul Old City Tour with Suleyman, and I am so glad that we did! He took us everywhere on our very extensive list! He also had Skip-The-Line access as a licensed tour guide and we were able to jump the line at Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia and Basilica Cistern. Suleyman even helped us navigate the Grand Bazaar to find our perfect souvenirs, even helped with the haggling! He went above and beyond with our tour and as a result, we completely fell in love with Istanbul! He was very communicative and even after our tour, we were still texting him with questions and recommendations and he happily and quickly answered. One of our Mediterranean cruise ports was Istanbul, but my parents and I thought spending 8 hours there was insufficient time to explore a historical city like Istanbul. So, we spent 2.5 days there before our cruise. It was a great decision, and our tour guide, Suleyman Kilinc, made it even better. Suleyman spent two full days with us, showing us every corner of Istanbul, from the Topkapi Palace Museum to the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosques, from the Basilica Cistern and Grand Bazaar to the Asia side of the city, including a cruise on the Bosporus. He also introduced us to several signature Istanbul dishes. Suleyman was extensive and informative. He speaks English and Mandarin fluently. My parents enjoyed his storytelling explanations and historical facts. He was also patient and took his time waiting for my slow father. Istanbul isn't difficult to get around, but we found buying bus or train tickets difficult. Moreover, it doesn't always work, especially for foreigners. Therefore, I strongly recommend using a local tour guide. You must know what you look at, especially in an ancient and historical city like Istanbul.

We had a private tour with Oligarch and everything was very well organised. Our guide was Suleyman and who was very friendly and fluent in English. We covered the historical peninsula and at the end got on a private boat which was arranged by the company as well. All in all it was a very good value for the money we paid! Highly recommended.
