Hit the highlights in a full day if sightseeing. Smooth tour with no standing in long lines. I would recommend this tour.
First, if I could give more stars, I would. As the title indicates...the tour was great (5 stars) and saw all the major sites, however, the real value came with our guide.--she was 6 stars! Sude is passionate about Istanbul and its history. She gave wonderful insight into the history and took as much time as necessary for each site. She was very knowledgeable of Greek, Roman, Christian, Ottoman history and did an amazing job of intertwining their histories into the story of Istanbul. I would very much recommend this tour from an informational standpoint, but I cannot leave out the practical efficiency of having a guide. She met us at our hotel which was in the new part of Istanbul and quickly got us a taxi to the first site. She expertly navigated the streets from one site to the next which, even with GPS, would not be as efficient as a guide. Then, the 'Skip the Line' is such a timesaver. Knowing exactly where to go and what line to get in (which basically don't exist with a guide) is incredibly efficient. I can't stress enough how much value this adds. Perhaps we missed some unintended wrong turns on the streets of Istanbul, but he had plenty of time to wander around after the tour. She also took us to a great cafe with some of the better food we encountered in Istanbul (and because I happened to have my Rick Steves book with me, they gave me a 10% discount off the already reasonable bill).
Personalized, informative Jumping point for deeper dive Combination of history, recent developments, shopping and food places
Excellent tour of all the popular sites. Our guide helped us bypass many long lines and had great insider knowledge!
What an amazing day touring the main sites of Istanbul. Our guide Sude was incredible!!! Her knowledge of the sites from the architecture to the history is unmatched. Sude tailored the day based on input from us!! So glad we booked this tour.
Betul was a wonderful guide with so much knowledge that she shared in a very enthusiastic way. She created realistic expectations for the way the day would go and worked around what I was most interested in seeing and not at all pushy towards anything I didn’t show interest in (like shopping). She found me a delicious place for lunch and kept me comfortable all day long. She is very smart, friendly and thoughtful and I would recommend her to anyone. Thanks again for a great day exploring Istanbul’s amazing history!
I had an absolutely wonderful experience exploring the beautiful and historic city of Istanbul with Fuat Peker. From beginning to end, the entire tour was an unforgettable journey filled with history, culture, breathtaking architecture, and fascinating stories. Istanbul is a city where East meets West, where ancient civilizations have left their marks, and where every street has a story to tell. Thanks to Fuat Peker, I was able to discover the true beauty and spirit of this incredible city. One of the best aspects of this tour was the opportunity to visit Istanbul’s most famous historical landmarks and learn about their rich history in a meaningful and enjoyable way. Exploring the magnificent Hagia Sophia, admiring the breathtaking Blue Mosque, walking through the historic Sultanahmet Square, and discovering the fascinating history of the Topkapi Palace made this experience truly special. Every location offered something unique, and the stories behind these remarkable places made the entire journey even more memorable. Fuat Peker demonstrated excellent knowledge of Istanbul’s history, culture, traditions, and architectural heritage. His explanations made the historical sites come alive, helping us understand not only what we were seeing but also why these places are so important. His professional attitude, friendly personality, patience, and genuine passion for sharing Istanbul with visitors made a significant difference throughout the tour. Another thing I particularly appreciated was the way the tour was organized. Everything felt comfortable, enjoyable, and well planned. There was enough time to appreciate the beauty of each historical location, take photographs, ask questions, and truly enjoy the atmosphere of this extraordinary city. Rather than simply visiting one attraction after another, the experience felt like discovering Istanbul through the eyes of someone who genuinely loves and understands the city. Istanbul has an incredible combination of Byzantine, Ottoman, and modern Turkish culture, and this tour provided a wonderful opportunity to appreciate that diversity. From the magnificent historical mosques and imperial palaces to the charming streets and unforgettable city views, every moment offered something worth remembering. Fuat Peker helped make these experiences even more meaningful through his informative explanations and welcoming approach. What made this tour especially impressive was the personal attention and care given throughout the experience. A great tour guide does much more than show visitors famous landmarks; a great guide creates memories, shares knowledge, answers questions, and makes people feel welcome. Fuat Peker did exactly that. His professionalism and dedication helped transform a sightseeing trip into a genuinely enriching cultural experience. I would highly recommend Fuat Peker to anyone planning to visit Istanbul, whether it is their first visit or they have already explored the city before. There is always something new to discover in Istanbul, and having a knowledgeable, friendly, and professional guide can make all the difference. This tour is an excellent choice for anyone interested in history, architecture, culture, photography, and discovering the hidden beauty of one of the world’s most fascinating cities. If you are looking for a memorable Istanbul tour that combines historical knowledge, beautiful landmarks, a welcoming atmosphere, and professional service, I would definitely recommend considering a tour with Fuat Peker. His dedication and passion make the experience enjoyable and worthwhile. Thank you, Fuat Peker, for such a wonderful opportunity to discover the historical treasures and cultural richness of Istanbul. The memories, knowledge, and beautiful moments from this experience will stay with me for a long time. Istanbul is truly a magnificent city, and exploring it with the right guide makes the journey even more special. Highly recommended! Five stars for the excellent service, the fascinating historical experience, the warm hospitality, and the unforgettable memories. If you are visiting Istanbul and want to discover its historical beauty in the best possible way, Fuat Peker is a name worth remembering! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Our guide Fuat was exceptional, his vast knowledge and delivery made this experience exactly what we were looking for. He is very personable and his command of the English language was perfect. I really appreciated the flexibility in this private tour and his restaurant selection was absolutely excellent, one of our favorite meals during our five nights in Istanbul. I highly recommend this tour especially if you can request Fuat as your guide.
Our day in Istanbul with Fuat Peker became one of the highlights of our entire trip. We had been looking forward to discovering the city’s famous sights, but the experience turned out to be much more personal and memorable than we had imagined. By the end of the tour, we felt that we had not only visited some extraordinary places but had also begun to understand the spirit of Istanbul. From the moment we met Fuat, we felt comfortable and welcome. He greeted us warmly, listened to what we were interested in, and made the day feel relaxed from the very beginning. His friendly manner made it easy to ask questions and share our thoughts, and we never felt as though we were simply following a fixed routine. What makes Fuat special is the way he connects with people. He is knowledgeable and professional, but he also has a natural warmth that makes spending time with him a pleasure. Throughout the day, he paid attention to our interests and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. It felt like exploring Istanbul with someone who was genuinely happy to share his city with us. We visited the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace, the Hippodrome, and the Grand Bazaar. Each place offered something different, and Fuat gave us just the right amount of information to appreciate what we were seeing. His explanations were clear and interesting, and he always left room for us to look around and take in the atmosphere. The Blue Mosque was a beautiful place to begin. Its graceful architecture and peaceful interior made a strong impression on us. Fuat pointed out some lovely details we might have overlooked and helped us appreciate the building while being mindful that it remains an active place of worship. Hagia Sophia was equally impressive. Standing inside such a magnificent building and hearing about its long journey through different periods of history was a remarkable experience. Fuat explained its story in a way that was easy to follow, allowing us to appreciate both its beauty and its significance. The Basilica Cistern had an atmosphere all its own. Walking among the columns and seeing their reflections in the water felt almost magical. We also enjoyed seeing the Medusa heads and learning a little about the cistern’s role in the life of the old city. At Topkapi Palace, Fuat helped us understand how the different spaces we visited were used and why the palace was so important. His explanations gave context to the courtyards and buildings around us, making the visit much more rewarding. The Hippodrome was another pleasant surprise. As we walked through the square, Fuat told us about the events and gatherings that once took place there. It was fascinating to imagine the busy scene that existed in the same spot so many centuries ago. What we especially appreciated was that Fuat never made history feel distant or difficult. He knew how to choose the details that would bring a place to life, and he shared them with enthusiasm. Whenever something caught our attention, he was happy to tell us more. Our questions were always welcomed, and his answers made us feel even more connected to the places we were visiting. As the day went on, we found ourselves noticing more and more of the small things around us. A decorative detail, an old monument, or a view across a courtyard became an invitation to stop and look more closely. Fuat’s perspective encouraged us to slow down and appreciate Istanbul beyond the photographs we had seen before arriving. The Grand Bazaar brought a different rhythm to our day. Its busy passages, colourful displays, and lively atmosphere were a joy to experience. There was so much to take in, and walking through it with Fuat helped us appreciate the bazaar as more than a shopping destination. We enjoyed hearing about its connection to the city’s long tradition of trade and craftsmanship. We also found the opportunity to see traditional carpet making particularly interesting. Watching the careful work involved gave us a much greater appreciation for the skill behind a handmade carpet. Seeing how individual threads and knots gradually become part of a larger pattern was fascinating. It made us think about the patience and experience needed to create something so detailed and beautiful. This was one of the parts of the day that gave us a connection to a living tradition. Alongside the historic buildings, it reminded us that Istanbul’s character can also be found in the work, knowledge, and skills that continue to be shared today. We enjoyed our conversations with Fuat just as much as the sightseeing itself. He was thoughtful, approachable, and generous with his knowledge. There was never any pressure to hurry through a question, and he always made us feel that our curiosity mattered. His enthusiasm was contagious, and it made the whole day feel lively and engaging. A good guide can make a great city even more memorable, and that is exactly what Fuat did for us. He brought warmth and personality to the experience while helping us feel at ease in a place that can initially seem overwhelming. His knowledge gave depth to the places we visited, and his kindness made the time between those visits equally enjoyable. We also appreciated the balance of the tour. There was plenty to see and learn, but there were also moments to pause, enjoy our surroundings, and simply experience the city. Rather than feeling like a long list of attractions, the day flowed naturally from one place to another. Each stop added something new, and together they created a wonderful introduction to Istanbul. For anyone considering this experience, it is useful to know that tickets for museums and historic sites are paid separately from the tour fee. We recommend keeping those additional costs in mind and bringing a credit card for the purchases. There is also a fair amount of walking, so comfortable shoes will make the day more enjoyable. When we look back on our time in Istanbul, we remember the beauty of the places we visited, but we also remember how we felt throughout the day: welcomed, interested, and excited to discover more. We came away with lovely photographs, new knowledge, and stories that we have already enjoyed sharing with friends and family. We are truly grateful to Fuat for making our visit so enjoyable. His warmth, patience, and ability to bring the city closer to his guests made a lasting impression on us. We would wholeheartedly recommend a tour with Fuat Peker to anyone looking for a meaningful and enjoyable way to discover Istanbul. It was a day we will remember with a smile for a long time to come.
Overall we were disappointed with this tour. Our tour guide was Fuat, and it was just 2 of us in the tour. We went on a Tuesday, which is when the palace is closed. This was fine for us because we had been to the palace the day before. The tour guide did not replace the palace with anything else. In total our tour was only 4 hours, with 1 hour of it being in a rug store where the owner gave us a whole sales presentation. This was not supposed to be a part of the tour and I feel like It was not appropriate for the guide to take us to. He presented the idea as "to grab some tea to sit and relax". If I had known we would be brought in for a high pressure sales pitch, I would have definitely declined. Overall, the guide seemed bored and uninterested the entire time. He offered little information about the things we were seeing and also giving some false information. We could have had a better time if we explored by ourselves and used the audio guides available. I would not recommend this tour to others
A fantastic experience crafted to everything we wanted to see. Viator stayed in close contact and Sude was the perfect guide - engaging, knowledgeable, and flexible. I would highly recommend this tour!
We had one day to explore Istanbul while on a cruise and decided to do this tour to hit the highlights and it was the best decision! Sude was our tour guide and she made the experience as smooth, pleasant, and educational as we could have hoped for. We stuck with the tour's suggested itinerary but Sude was very flexible when we made a requested change last minute and accommodated us happily. She was super knowledgeable about Istanbul and Turkish history which gave us a great foundation for all the sites we saw throughout the day, she also took us to one of her favorite Turkish restaurants in the area for lunch that definitely hit the spot, and accommodated us on a timeline to see everything while still escorting us back to the ship in time before our disemarkation curfew. Highly recommend this tour and guide! Sude was excellent!
The sites did not disappoint us. There is so much history to learn about the sites we visited. Even though we visited it when it was busy with tours the blue mosque was beautiful.
Kahraman was very knowledgeable, he arranged for our visits, skipping the lines and making the visit memorable. He was easy to chat with and we learned about both the past and current life in Turkey. Thanks we will call when we return.
Our guide, Sude, was exceptionally knowledgeable about the sites we visited and their history. She was friendly and professional and answered any questions we had. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
Betul is very professional and friendly. We had a great time in Istanbul, thanks to her.
Our guide met us at the port and accompanied us through the main tourist destinations. She listened to what we wanted to see and made her tour fit our wishes. I loved that she shared history and customs of the area.
Wear good walking shoes. Your tour guide will give you lots of options on price. We chose all of the entrance fees and were happy with our choice
Our tour guide was wonderful. Before the tour started, he made sure what we wanted to do and that we could fit it all in so we wouldn’t miss anything important. He was very friendly and kind and we really enjoyed our time we spent with him.
Sude was a perfect private tour guide, she’s personable, knowledgeable, and very pleasant to be around with.
Overall my husband and I had a wonderful day learning about the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and the Basilica Cistern. These monuments are national treasures and our guide, Betul, did an incredible job explaining significant timelines around the building of these monuments. She has an incredible and infectious way of making you excited about details around periods in history she was explaining. Only downside is these places were packed with tourists. Betul made sure we made it to the top of the queue in her infectious enthusiasm and efficient way.
The tour was amazing! We had our own private guide who was from the area. Her insights into the culture and history were so helpful to connect the experience of the tour.
Renan gave us an outstanding tour of the sites we most wanted to visit--she was flexible and very much wanted us to be happy with the tour. She was extremely knowledgeable about Istanbul's history, making the day fun and interesting. We saw in detail the Blue Mosque, the palace, and the Hagia Sofia. All were opulent and impressive. She asked us if we wanted to tour a rug and a ceramic studio, which we were glad to visit. Several times during the day her tour operator was in communication with Renan, making sure we were pleased with the tour. We highly recommend this tour.
Ranan is the best tour guide I’ve ever had! Her knowledge and energy level is contagious. What a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend Ranan as your tour guide if you want a fun and informative tour of Istanbul!
Fuat was an awesome guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about all of the sights and explained what we were seeing and the history behind it so that it was easily understood. We were on a cruise and he came to the port to take us to the tram. He was very personable, easy to talk with, and very flexible with what we wanted to do and see. I would highly recommend him and this tour.
We spent one of the most enjoyable days of our Istanbul trip with Fuat Peker. We joined this tour because we wanted to do more than just see the famous sights—we wanted to understand them better. We visited the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace, the Hippodrome, and the Grand Bazaar. By the end of the day, we had learned much more about Istanbul’s history than we expected. What we liked most about Fuat’s guiding was how natural his explanations felt. He did not just list dates and names in a way that made it difficult to stay interested. Instead, he used the places and details around us to tell their stories. This made everything easy to follow and helped us remember what we learned. Whenever we asked a question, he happily explained more. It felt less like listening to a lesson and more like exploring Istanbul with someone who knew the city very well. The Blue Mosque was very impressive. Thanks to Fuat’s explanations about the domes, architecture, and tiles, we noticed details that we might otherwise have missed. Sometimes you walk into a building and admire its beauty without understanding why it was designed that way. Learning about those details made our visit more meaningful. It was also important to us to visit respectfully, remembering that this is still an active place of worship. At Hagia Sophia, we gained a better understanding of the building’s long history and its many layers. Fuat explained the Byzantine and Ottoman periods clearly, making it easy for us to follow. We found his explanations about the mosaics, architecture, and traces of different periods very interesting. The building is impressive on its own, but visiting while hearing its story was a completely different experience. If we had gone by ourselves, we probably would have missed many of those details. The Basilica Cistern was one of our favourite stops of the day. The atmosphere, columns, and lighting inside are beautiful. But what interested us most was learning how this place once served the city. Fuat’s explanations about Istanbul’s old water system made it much more than just a beautiful place to take photographs. We also saw the Medusa heads up close and enjoyed hearing about them. We saw a lot at Topkapi Palace, and this was where we especially appreciated having a guide. Without knowing the purpose of the courtyards and the sections we visited, it would have been harder to understand how everything fitted together. Fuat clearly explained that the palace was not only the home of the sultans but also a centre of government. We enjoyed learning about palace life and how the different areas were used. Connecting his explanations to the spaces around us made it easier to imagine life there in the past. The Hippodrome was also more interesting than we expected. Walking through the square today, it is not easy to imagine what it once looked like. After hearing about the chariot races, the crowds, and the importance of this place in city life, we saw our surroundings differently. The stories behind the monuments were fascinating too. Being able to see traces of different historical periods in the same place is something special about Istanbul. By this point in the day, we really understood how much having a guide added to our experience. We think this is a must-do tour for anyone who wants not only to see Istanbul’s historic places but also to learn the stories behind them. When we reached the Grand Bazaar, the mood of the day changed a little. After visiting the historic buildings, it was enjoyable to see the lively, everyday side of the city. We liked learning that the bazaar is more than a place to shop—it is part of a long history of trade and craftsmanship. With its streets, shops, and different products, it is an interesting place in its own right. Thanks to Fuat’s explanations, we did more than simply walk around looking at shop windows. Seeing traditional carpet making was another interesting experience for us. Watching how a carpet is created, how the threads are knotted one by one, and how the pattern develops was fascinating. When you look at a finished carpet, you do not always think about all the work behind it. Seeing the process changed the way we looked at handmade carpets. This part of the visit allowed us to see a cultural tradition that is still alive today, alongside the historic buildings we had explored. We appreciated Fuat’s friendly manner as much as his knowledge. We felt comfortable asking about anything that interested us. He answered our questions patiently and kept us involved in the conversation throughout the tour. It is important for a guide to know a lot, but being able to share that knowledge clearly is just as important. Fuat was very good at this. We enjoyed both exploring the city with him and chatting along the way. A small practical note for anyone planning to go: tickets for the museums and historic sites are paid separately from the tour fee. Remember to include these costs in your budget and bring a credit card for ticket purchases. There is also quite a bit of walking, so comfortable shoes are a good idea. For us, the best part of this tour was that, by the end of the day, the places we had visited no longer felt like separate stops. We could see the connections between Istanbul’s different historical periods, buildings, and traditions. Along with our photographs, we came home with plenty of stories to share. We would recommend a tour with Fuat Peker to anyone visiting Istanbul for the first time or wanting a better understanding of its historic places. We were very happy with his guiding and finished the day with wonderful memories. If you want to discover Istanbul through his stories and explanations, definitely join this tour!
We signed up for this trip to learn about the culture and the history and to see the historic sites per the tour description. Note the price of the tour gets you NO ADMISSION to any sites. Admission to the Topkapi Castle was approx $70 a person. Admission to Hagia Sophia was approx $45 a person. Blue Mosque was free. Admission to the Cistern was approx $25 a person. But the worst part of this 'tour' was the part that isn't advertised... wasted our time taking us for a sales pitch at a carpet shop. Then a similar pitch at a pottery shop. Then taken to a backroom at the Great Bazaar for another sales pitch for fake rolexes and handbags that were all over the bazaar. Just totally unnecessary and we told our guide several times we were there to learn the culture and history, NOT to go shopping. Adding insult to injury we were taken to a lunch spot that cost us almost $300 - of course the guide was paid for. All felt unnecessary and I'm fairly sure the guide was getting a kickback on the lunch and would also have made a nice profit if we'd bought anything at the carpet shop, pottery shop, and at the bazaar. And then to cap things off, at the end of the day our guide got us a taxi. After a very unnecessarily long conversation with the driver we bid farewell... except the taxi driver didn't start the meter and told us the ride to our hotel would be 60 Euros! We got out as that was also a complete scam and a different taxi cost us just 12 Euros. I'd give this tour 0 stars if I could... it's just a scam and you're better off visiting the cultural sites on your own. Waste of money.
Our guide Renan was very friendly, bubbly, engaging, knowledgeable, and accommodating, and had the inate ability to find ways around long queues. We would totally recommend being guided, especially if a personal guide is within your budget. The Blue mosque, the palace with its harem, and the Cistern were amazing, topped off with the Grand Bazaar.
We’re met at cruise ship port and personally walked to tram and taken to first stop Blue Mosque. Moses was the best guide with his knowledge of all. Was very accommodating. We gave him what we wanted to see and he added some can’t miss things. I will definitely save his contact info for friends who return to Istanbul: he just might be the Number one guide in Istanbul. All the guides knew him like he was their teacher. We were very fortunate to connect.
Fuat is a fantastic guide. He gave us fast access to all the sites today. The restaurant he brought us too had amazing Turkish cuisine. I was surprised he gave us a private tour. We stayed in Istanbul on a layover to Eqypt.
Musa was a a wealth of knowledge …. This was an excellent way to see all the sights. Highly recommended.
Sude was lovely! She took us all the places we wanted to go. Would recommend her every time. Not only did she have information about the different places we visited, but also about Istanbul and Turkiye itself.
We had a fabulous guide Sude who was hugely knowledgeable as well as warm and friendly. Sude is clearly very proud of her country and made our first day in Istanbul very enjoyable
SUDE was our guide. Met up at our hotel which was really useful as we had only arrived late the previous evening. She wasVery friendly and had an abundant amount of historical information . Efficiently showed us around everything on our to do list., very enjoyable. Absolutely amazing sights. Got tickets on express lanes to monuments . Wonderful day out, highly recommend.
The tour guide, Mehmet, was very good at explaining the history behind each of the buildings we saw and gave us a vision of old Constantinople.
Sude was such a great host to my husband and I. She gave us a great tour of the city and I learned so much throughout the day. Just a note - the palace is closed on Tuesdays so we didn't get to check it out but Sude accommodated that and showed us more areas such as how silk carpets are made. Thank you!
Was an excellent tour. Even though it was raining we were able to see all the expected sites. Nice that we’re able to skip the lines with our guide. Would recommend this tour
Very informative tour. Nice to be able to skip the lines. Our guide Fuat was great
Great tour, tailored to our needs amd desires. Fuat was very knowledgeable and patient. We got to see many beautiful sites, eat good food and had advice/insight at the Bazaarm. Would definitely recommend!!
Mehmet was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and willing work with our schedule. The tour is a full day with lots to see and learn.
Our guide Mehmet was absolutely fantastic. His knowledge of the history and religions was amazing. We had such a wonderful time and learnt so much about Istanbul and its history. The Hagia Sofia the blue mosque the hippodrome the basilica cistern and the grand bazaar truly fantastic! I would recommend this tour to everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I believe that was because of our extremely knowledgable guide.
We got lucky as my wife and I were the only ones on the tour so it was very private personal. Fuat our guide was excellent provided us with many insights into Istanbul. He adjusted to our schedule and worked hard to minimize our wait times getting into the sights. Disappointed in the Grand Bazaar but everything else was fantastic.
The tour guide was very knowledgable and made the experience enjoyable! I would definitely recommend this tour to other people.
Great tour of the major historic sites including the Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, and Cisternes. Our guide Faut Peker had a wealth of knowledge about the full history of Istanbul. There is a lot of walking so just be prepared and the crowds in Istanbul are real!!
Very professional and organized tour. Wonderful tour guide. I highly recommend. He was very flexible and extremely knowledgeable.
It was a great overview of the historical highlights of Istanbul. Our guide Kahrahan was wonderful! So kind and knowledgeable!
My husband and I had a fantastic private tour with Musa in Istanbul — exactly as promised. He thoughtfully adapted the itinerary for my walking needs, pacing everything perfectly so I stayed comfortable the entire day. Musa is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and we appreciated his historical and personal insights about Istanbul and the culture. He is clearly well-known and was able to secure VIP entrance for us at several crowded locations. When we return to this city, we will 100% book with Musa again. Highly recommend him for a private, flexible, and excellent tour in Istanbul.
My family and I had an amazing time with Cuneyt. He is super knowledgeable, friendly and made our tour memorable. He gave us background on the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, provided translation at the Grand Bazaar, had dinner with us and walked us back to our hotel. We even created some inside jokes with him. We left Istanbul understanding its deep history and making a friend! Thank you, Cuneyt!
Our trip guide Renan was very nice, kind, and informative. We had a wonderful experience.
