Itinerary
Meet your guide at İstanbul Kitapçısı Café inside the Kadıköy ferry terminal. From here, head into one of Istanbul's liveliest food neighbourhoods for an evening of 10+ tastings.
Walk through Kadıköy's market streets, where locals shop for fish, cheese, olives and everyday ingredients. Start tasting along the way, including midye dolma, mussels stuffed with spiced rice and finished with lemon. Then continue through the neighbourhood for other street-food stops.
Continue through Kadıköy for two Turkish street-food classics: lahmacun, served hot from the oven with parsley and lemon, and kokoreç, seasoned and chopped hot from the grill.
Leave the busiest market streets behind and continue into the Moda backstreets for beyran, the intensely garlicky Gaziantep soup made with shredded lamb, rice and hot broth.
Finish with traditional goat's-milk dondurma, then return to Kadıköy ferry terminal. Your one-way ferry ticket back to the European side is included, and your guide will help you catch the ferry toward Eminönü or Karaköy.

We had an amazing tour with Bahri. We got to try 10 food options and all were foods we may not have thought to try, which is the exact reason to do a food tour. We got some great recommendations afterwards as well of other places to eat. Such a wonderful tour, and I guarantee you will leave full!
We did the Asian Side food tour with Kaan and really enjoyed it. Kaan was lovely, very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. He gave us lots of information about the food, the area and Turkish culture, but in a way that was easy to understand and digest rather than feeling like information overload. I also liked that Kaan knew the vendors we visited. It made the tour feel much more personal and authentic rather than just being taken from one food stop to another. There was plenty of food to try and everything felt genuinely local and authentic. The lamb soup was a particular favourite of mine and something I probably wouldn’t have thought to order myself. A really enjoyable way to experience the Asian side of Istanbul and try foods we may not have discovered on our own. Highly recommend, and a big thank you to Kaan for making it such an enjoyable evening.
Our guide was so friendly and had so many facts! We tried some amazing food and absolutely loved to neighbourhood we toured that we went back the next day ourselves. would definitely recommend!
Wonderful food tour. I never would have tried most of the foods we had. The guy was knowledgeable and patient, explaining the history of the food we were eating and the restaurants we visited. I would definitely recommend it.
We had a well-organized, informative and tasty tour on the Asian side of Istanbul. Bahri was great — kept things moving, explained our foods, was interesting and fun.
Bahri gave us a wonderful food tour while telling all about the neighborhoods and the history of the city. The amount of food we received on the tour was amazing. We left very full and happy. We’re so glad we took this tour, it was worth every penny. It was obvious that Bahri loves what he does and loves Istanbul.
Great food sampling on the Asian side of the Bosphorus! Bahri escorted us to specialty street food restaurants where the food was interesting and abundant. My only disappointment was that I was ready to eat at 1800 when we met up on the European side and we didn’t stop anywhere there…
This food tour was amazing - lots of local spots and delicious food. We had Bahri as our guide and he was fantastic, so much local knowledge and told us everything we needed to know! Would highly recommend.
Our tour guide Bahri was excellent. We got to try a lot of delicious food we would never have tried without the tour. We had a great group of people. And it was a really fun way to experience catching the ferry and exploring Kadıköy on the Asian side. Can highly recommend this tour.
Bahri was amazing. It was a ton of food and super interesting. He provided a lot of great information and was enthusiastic. The different foods, desserts, drinks, etc... that we tried was amazing. He provided a lot of great background information to all of it as well. No item was consumed without information as to the background to that item.
Fantastic tour with an excellent guide Bahri. We were lucky to just be the only 2 on the evening tour, had a delicious whistle stop tour of Istanbuls best cuisine. My husband and I really enjoyed it, Bahri was warm, relaxed and full of knowledge not just about food but history, culture and top tips for tourists. I would highly recommend, our guide as I felt he went that extra mile! Thanks Bahri :)
Tugçe was excellent! Super nice and very knowledgeable. She took us to some great places. I would totally do a tour with her again!
Went to an area of buzzy little streets & ate & drank things we would never have had on own. Very informative, helpful guide
This was an amazing experience! Our guide, Bahri, was incredibly informative about the city and history and highly entertaining too. The food we tasted was delicious and we loved learning about the tradition and culture behind each stop. Definitely the highlight of our trip to Istanbul! Thank you Bahri!!!
Great experience with Bahri travelling to the Asian side to experience street food. Bahri was an amazing guide, who was a wealth of information, but also a great conversationalist and overall good time. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the walk through Kadikoy illuminated many great places to visit.
Bahri our guide was fantastic guide. He was knowledgeable, funny and showcased delicious local food to our group. Kadiköy was a hidden from the bustle of old town and the ferry ride was stunning. The group was small and we all connected thanks to Bahri. Highly recommend this tour!
Amazing your with Bahri. He was knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot and ate so well! There was a very difficult customer on the tour but Bahri was totally calm and professional and made it a great experience for us all!
This is a food tour without food for the first 2 hours except we did get some pickle juice after 1.5 hours Lots and lots of walking but no food Guide was nice but should have brought something for us to eat on the ferry ride
Took this tour with my family of 5 foodies. Tugçe was knowledgeable about the foods and painted a beautiful picture for us of Turkish cuisine and culture. She gave us many recommendations for restaurants as well. Would definitely take her tours again!!!
My friend and I went on this tour for our first visit to Istanbul. We loved the opportunity to go with a guide over to the Asian side of the city after staying in a hotel on the European side, and our guide Sinan was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and Turkish cuisine. We left full, happy, and with good recommendations for what else to explore during our stay.
Met guide and crossed over on the ferry. Ferry tickets and all food included. Sinan was informative and engaging. We were given a Simit to begin with and a bottle of water. In Kadikoy, our first stop was to try pickles and pickle juice. Loved the pickles. The juice is a no for me but I was quite happy to try it. Next stop Mussels delicious. No limit to how much you can eat , but after 5 , I stopped as I needed to save place for the rest of the tour. Next stop Tantuni- delicious . We each had a whole Tantuni an Aryan. Great flavours. Then we headed to Iskender Kebab- scrumptious. Then Mado for baklava and ice cream. Divine. This tour checked all the boxes for “my must taste” food in Istanbul. Food was plentiful, guide was great. No complaints at all. We’ve done other food tours as it’s a great way to see a city and learn a bit of life from a local, however, this food tour has far surpassed others we’ve taken. Thanks for showing us a small part of your city. Highly recommend.
Tugce is a great guide! She was so informative about the history and culture of the food. We tried some things that we would not normally know to look for ourselves, we tasted many different things. The mussels were a highlight. Definitely worth it to go to the Eastern ("Asian") side - just walking around, you get a different experience from the European side. And great that the ferry ticket is included. Everything was so simple and easy for us.
Exelent Leyla gave us massive amounts of information of Turkish food and history of Istanbul and culture of Turkish people
Really enjoyed the tour. Lots of information about Turkish food and we got to taste lots of it. I don't eat meat but changes to cater for me were made when possible so I didn't miss out. Bahri was a very good guide and it was a pleasure to chat with him. It was fun to see a different area of Istanbul.
This tour is amazing. Ali was the best guide, we had breakfast in a small tea house which was fabulous, and everything that went on from there was interesting and informative. This is not only a food tour however, it also takes you through parts of Istanbul you may not get to see. My only disappointment was that I was not well, so could not partake of all the amazing food.
We had an absolutely amazing time! Tuğçe, was our foodie guide- she was full of energy, engaging and it was evident how passionate she was about her culture and history. We enjoyed all of the food and would definitely recommend.
We did the Kadıköy Street Food Tour with Leyla. There were 4 of us on the tour and we got to sample a lot of the great food on the Asian side of Istanbul. Our amazing guide Leyla was happy to share her culture and showed us some great places we will return to. Highly recommended!
The best tour guide in all Istanbul!! Great experience, great food and amazing people! Cheers Ebil!!
Excellent food, Leyla is a fantastic guide and besides all the gastronomic information gave us also the historical background. Super recommended!
Our tour guide was a lovely man called Ali Emrah Ucal who met us on time in the coffee shop meeting place. He was very knowledgeable about all the areas we walked through, Istanbul in general and the food we were trying, and it was a really lovely evening. We hadn't had lunch which was lucky as we ate a lot of food, it was unusual for us to try local street food and we loved all the dishes and would never have tried them without the tour. Enjoyed getting the ferry with Ali and Kadikoy is a great place to spend an evening, which we may not have visited otherwise. Totally recommend!
Fun food tour with great variety. I loved how every stop was filled with locals. Most of the foods were new to me and it was great to be able to find new stops to return to. Mehmet was really enthusiastic and flexible. He was able to add some desserts we were interested in trying and also provided pescatarian/veg options for one of our friends. Great value for a really fun evening.
We did our tour with Ibrahim, and we were blown away! The different variations of food, and the different flavors, tastes and atmospheres was just breath taking! I thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant CIYA which actually featured on Chef's table on Netflix, but the rest of the food was second to none. Ibrahim was very humorous and kept us engaged the whole tour, you can see he has years of experience. We did our tour during COVID and it was very safe and clean, with each stop offering hand sanitiser and wipes and not putting anyone at 'potential' risk. Would highly recommend to anyone, it is a Istanbul must as far as we are concerned!
Everything was delicious and beautiful, thanks for the amazing experience with my friend from the Hostel. We will definitely repeat
What an incredible professional food walk we got from Layla around Istanbul. A dining experience we will never forget. What a lovely day it was. Highly recommended
