After missing a tour due to the marathon, I was delighted to have a solo tour with Batu today. He was very informative and considerate.

After 560 years of operation (with certain role the education of the Greek homogenous young students) this Academia is endanger of closing up.
The Bulgarian St. Stephen Church, also known as the Bulgarian Iron Church, is yet another lovely monumental building which is still in use in Istanbul.
The building where Balat and Fener Greek High Schools are located is still standing today and stands out as a beautiful example of neoclassical architecture.
Ahrida Synagogue, located in Istanbul, Turkey, is a significant attraction that holds both historical and cultural importance.

Ali cem was a knowledgeable and a very friendly tour guide.
Ali Cem Kaygisizcan provided an excellent tour. He was very informative, engaging and was very helpful when suggesting photo spots and taking photos of the group. Would highly recommend him as a tour guide!
Our guide was Furkon, he was very good.
Great our guide was friendly and bery knowledgeable.
Wonderful tour and exceptional guide!!
Spectacular tour, alternating bold colours, architectural scenery and casual life. The itinerary was exactly as booked. Whilst booked at the last minute, everything was perfectly organised. Beritan from the tour operator provided me great assistance. Can – the guide – tailors explanations and walking rythm to the individual visitors and makes everyone feel welcome. Moving in small groups (on narrow and/or steep streets!) is a great advantage. You get to see the heart of the city and experience the religious variety. You see the roman city walls, marked by ancient history and recent earthquakes. Can managed to give me a sense of both the European and Asian souls of Constantinople / Byzantium / Istanbul. Thank you!
Wonderful tour and guide with Cem!
Great tour with Ali very knowledgeable Thank you
Çan was an excellent tour guide! He spoke English fluently and was extremely knowledgeable about the history and architecture of Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. He shared fascinating details and made the entire experience both educational and enjoyable. We truly appreciated his professionalism and would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Istanbul!
Great guide, good time not to much walking
Our guide was truly amazing and gave us not only a great walking tour but also an historical perspective with modern updates.
I loved this tour as its shows you a local traditional neighborhood of Instanbul with all the beautiful buildings and lots of cats. Tour leader was great however, it wasn’t an easy meeting place, I had to ask several locals to help me find the spot
Very knowledgeable, very pleasant and entertaining. Lots of local knowledge
This tour was unexpectedly AMAZING! The homes and sites were colorful and just as gorgeous as the pics! The guide, Can, was so knowledgeable and relatable, he kept us informed the whole way through. I’m thrilled I was able to do this tour before I left Istanbul. It made the trip even more memorable and special!

Great tour. Our tour guide Furkan was very knowledgeable and helpful. Great to have him show us the historic places.
It was a great ealk around the neighbourhood, we learnt a lot about history. Our guide was perfect, thanks a lot! We had a break in the middle of the tour for a coffee break, which was convenient.
I had a great time on my tour with Behlül! He was prompt in meeting me at the location, & since I was the only person who signed up, it turned into a private tour! We walked all through Fener/Balat & I got great photos, learned a lot, & enjoyed a Turkish coffee overlooking the Bosphorus at the end! Highly recommend this tour if you enjoy walking around cities!
I don’t think a guide is needed for this part of Istanbul. A little bit of research before and you can discover on your own.
Amazing view between old colorful buildings and churches. The tour guide was very helpful and informative.
Tour was able to show the highlights of these two areas with good photo opportunities and good brief history summaries by the guide to capture the rich diversity. Get ready to walk a few steep roads but worth it!
guide was really knowledgeable and the whole tour was really engaging and interesting! nice way to start a day in Istanbul :)
The walking tour turned out to be an exceptionally engaging and enriching experience from start to finish. What stood out immediately was how thoughtfully the entire walk was structured—it never felt rushed, yet we managed to cover an impressive amount of ground, both physically and intellectually. Every stop along the way revealed something new and unexpected, making even familiar surroundings feel fresh and full of hidden stories. A huge part of what made this tour so memorable was the guide. His depth of knowledge was truly remarkable, and it was clear that he wasn’t just reciting memorized facts but genuinely understood and cared about the history, culture, and context of everything he shared. He had an incredible ability to connect different ideas and weave them into a narrative that was both informative and easy to follow. Whether he was explaining historical events, pointing out subtle architectural details, or sharing lesser-known anecdotes, everything was delivered with clarity and enthusiasm. What I appreciated most was how he encouraged curiosity. Questions were always welcomed, and his answers were thoughtful and often went beyond the basics, adding even more depth to the experience. You could tell he had spent years building his expertise, and that passion translated into a tour that felt personal rather than generic. Overall, the walk was not just interesting—it was genuinely captivating. It struck a perfect balance between education and enjoyment, leaving me with a much deeper appreciation of the area and its history. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for more than just a casual stroll; it’s an experience that stays with you long after it’s over.
Great experience! Friendly guide. Enjoyed it. Perfect morning activity to do in Istanbul!
Relaxed overview of old town. Friendly advice, Good source of information for further exploration and eateries.
Very good introduction to the historical Balat/Fener area, with captivating historical tales.
We had a wonderful time exploring Balat this morning with Can as our guide. His knowledge of the area’s history, culture, and hidden gems really brought everything to life. He was engaging, friendly, and made the experience feel both personal and insightful. Highly recommend this tour!
Few hours of walking around the area with Can as a tour gouide. Highly recommended!
The guide is very nice and young. He did a lot of introduction to us including history and culture. Thanks for this tour!
Çan led us through Balat and Fener. Telling us stories about the city and its stories. We took the time for a coffee as well. The walks it's definitely worth it to understand better the city.
Great tour, had it all to myself during the low season. It was an interesting area to experience in Istanbul, different than some other areas.
Great tour of balat and fener, highly recommend! Historical informative friendly and good pace of seeing the highlights
Very nice tour away from the hustle and bustle of the main city. Very quirky area and tour guide very informative. Worth booking up.
We did a walking tour with Mr. Can yesterday, started with the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and ended at Basilica Cistern. The group was just nice, not too big with 15 people. Can's comments were clear, informative and not boring, he blends the history and the present facts very well and he has a good sense of humour to make the tour interesting. Can speaks very good clear English and was very opened to questions. He was very caring for all his guests and went round and about looking for a couple who just did not respect our meeting time. I could highly recommend Can and his company.
Perfect mix of historical informations with some contemporary influence. Timing was good and Cen the guide very humerus. We love it!
The guide, Hüseyin, was really good and very attentive. He knew every detail and answered all my questions. This is my 3rd time in town and each time I discover something new. Balat & Fener worth the visit.
What a great trip! We really enjoyed learning about the districts, the colours, the history and all that was on offer. Our guide Bilash was so knowledgeable and provided our group with lots of information. This tour is highly recommended if you want to learn more about other districts in Istanbul!
