Valens Hotel Downtown

I travel to Istanbul multiple times a year, and this hotel is my top choice! perfect location, clean rooms, and excellent heating. What really sets this place apart is the incredible hospitality: the owner, manager, and staff are so warm, friendly, welcoming and always ready to help. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of variety, continuously refilled items. I loved the daily lentil soup😁. Thank you all for a perfect stay!

I recommend booking another hotel for safety reasons and to avoid having to look for a place to stay at an inconvenient time. There were seven of us, and we needed two large rooms. We had to cancel the meeting and refund the tickets. We found a hotel that suited everyone with great difficulty. And three days before our arrival in Istanbul, they simply canceled the reservation. Plus, as the organizer, I suffered reputational damage. The situation is described below. Absolutely unacceptable. I booked two rooms well in advance, but the hotel cancelled my confirmed reservation just three days before arrival, claiming my card had insufficient funds — which was completely untrue. The booking clearly stated “pay at the property”, and I had accepted a higher rate under these conditions. When I called, the hotel openly told me that my rooms had been sold to other guests for a higher price. They cancelled my confirmed booking simply to make more money. After nearly 20 years of using Booking.com, this experience has seriously damaged my trust in both the hotel and the booking process.

Great property, but misleading information regarding facilities The hotel itself is very nice, spacious, and clean; we didn't have any issues with the room quality or the property maintenance. However, I am leaving a 3-star review because of the misleading information regarding the hotel amenities. On Booking.com, the listing states that the pool and gym are included in the room price. This is not true. When we arrived, we were told we had to pay an extra 10€ per hour, per person for the pool, and 500 Lira for gym access. We booked this hotel specifically with the intention of relaxing by the pool and training, so having to pay extra for services we thought were included feels like a scam. Furthermore, we booked for 5 people. Upon check-in, the receptionist tried to give us a room with only two beds, effectively expecting three of us to share one bed. It was only after we made it clear that we would leave if this wasn't fixed that they managed to find us a room with enough beds. The problem was eventually resolved, but it should never have happened in the first place. Please, update your website to clearly state that the gym and pool are not included in the room price to avoid misleading future guests.

The hotel was good and clean, and I was satisfied with the room. The reception staff were very friendly and treated us well. However, I had an issue because one of my belongings went missing from the room. When I reported it to the reception staff, they apologized and tried to help. The manager reviewed the security camera footage and told me that nothing suspicious could be seen. I understand that the cameras may not have shown what happened, but I was disappointed by the way the situation was handled. When I spoke to the manager about the problem, his attitude was very disappointing. He simply told me that there was nothing he could do and did not even offer a word of apology. The way he spoke to me and handled the situation was poor, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. As a manager, I expected a much more understanding and professional response. While I appreciated the hotel, the cleanliness, and the kindness of the reception staff, the way this issue was handled by management left me with a very negative impression.
