The building and the rooms furnitures are pretty nice. However, there are really many details that are off, and ultimately made my experience uncomfortable. First the spa hours are reserved to women in the afternoon and to men in the morning. This makes it impossible to enjoy it if you are a couple. When I found the time to go, the steam room was not even working, and there was nobody to complain about it. The pool is cold and there is no hot tub. Massages/hamam is also way overpriced compared to even the most pricey hamam in the city. In the room, many little things are just off. For instance, they put towels in bags, that are difficult to open. There is little natural light. The menu for in room service is wrapped in a way that again is hard to open, and is also overpriced. Not much of a tea selection in the room. The hotel itself is also positioned on a rather steep hill, so you need to take a cab to go anywhere if you have stroller. For what a good room costs in this hotel, I think there are far better options.

Verdict: this is a very high-class, emotional, Ottoman-style luxury hotel in the heart of old Istanbul. Not a modern “glass luxury” hotel — it is more like a private Ottoman mansion/palace with Islamic/halal positioning, art, marble, mother-of-pearl furniture, carpets, and historical atmosphere. Tripadvisor describes it as “more than a mere five-star hotel” with a private-mansion feeling and halal hospitality. The location is excellent: AJWA Sultanahmet is at Piyerloti Caddesi No:30, Sultanahmet, close to the core historical district of Istanbul. The hotel offers a spa, indoor pool, steam room and hammam-style wellness facilities, which is important after walking all day in Istanbul. The design is the main reason it feels special: Ottoman splendor, handcrafted furniture, Persian rugs, marble work, painted ceilings and a very rich traditional aesthetic. Preferred Hotels describes it as a five-star hotel in the heart of Old Istanbul with Ottoman-style luxury and views toward the Sea of Marmara from Zeferan Restaurant. City access, and highly personal service. My final “100-star” feeling For Sultanahmet, history, romance, Islamic/Ottoman luxury, family stay, quiet elegance — I would give it: ★★★★★ 100/ 100 — almost perfect Old Istanbul soul — AJWA is one of the most beautiful choices.
We travelled from Florida to Istanbul and stayed at Ajwa Hotel for 4 days. Everything was just wonderful. Our experience every morning for breakfast was just spectacular. Our Bell Captain Aytac was always very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this hotel if you want to be walking distance to Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar. A final note … the rooms were sparkling clean and commodious. You will love this hotel!
A truly magnificent hotel that left me speechless from the moment I arrived. What made Ajwa Sultanahmet so special was that every single day I would discover a new detail I hadn't noticed before, a piece of intricate craftsmanship, a carefully considered design feature, a thoughtful touch that revealed just how much care and passion has gone into every corner of this extraordinary property. It is the kind of hotel you could stay in for weeks and still find something new to marvel at. The service was nothing short of impressive across every department. The front desk team were warm, professional and welcoming throughout our stay. The bell staff were always on hand, attentive and genuinely helpful. The restaurant team made every breakfast and dining experience a pleasure, combining excellent food with genuine hospitality. A special mention must go to Maria, the Concierge - an absolute sweetheart who went above and beyond at every opportunity. Nothing was ever too much trouble and the care shown was truly memorable. We did encounter a couple of small hiccups at the beginning of our stay, but these were resolved swiftly and graciously by Mr. Niazi, whose professionalism and genuine desire to ensure our comfort turned those moments into a testament to the hotel's exceptional service culture. Ajwa Sultanahmet is more than a hotel, it is an experience. The blend of grandeur, meticulous attention to detail and heartfelt hospitality creates something truly rare in luxury travel. If I return to Istanbul, there is absolutely no question where I will be staying.
Very good hotel, marvellous rooms and decent breakfast. Also can't beat the location if you want be close to main attractions in Sultanahmet, everything in walking distance. Most importantly However, staff is super friendly and very helpful, top quality that a 5 star hotel deserve. The SPA is okay, nothing too special but if you travel in winter you will enjoy it mostly.
