Una Experiencia muy por debajo de lo esperado para el Precio/A very Disappointing Experience for the Price We stayed at Hotel Las Islas for three nights and, unfortunately, our experience was well below what we expected from a hotel in this price range and category. We paid more than €1,700 for three nights, including breakfast, and we simply do not feel that the overall experience was worth the price. One of the first issues was the boat transfer from Cartagena. The sea was quite rough on the day of our arrival and the journey was very uncomfortable. We reported this to the hotel on our first day, but nobody contacted us afterwards to follow up or even ask how the journey had been. It was only when we raised the issue again at check-out that the charge was eventually removed from our bill. We also strongly recommend checking your final bill very carefully. We found several charges that we had not expected, including certain taxes/charges, an insurance fee and, most surprisingly, a minibar tip. All of these were eventually removed after we questioned them. This left us with the uncomfortable impression that guests need to carefully check everything and complain in order to avoid paying charges they did not request or agree to. The service was also not what we expected from a hotel in this category. The staff, in general, did not particularly stand out for anticipating guests’ needs. At breakfast, we experienced several moments of disorganisation: orders took a long time, coffees were not always prepared as requested, dishes were occasionally delivered to other tables, and there were several mistakes with our orders. For a hotel presenting itself as a luxury experience, we expected a much more polished and attentive service. We also had to contact the hotel regarding several basic issues during our stay: the telephone in our room did not work until we complained, there was a light bulb that needed replacing, and we had an issue with the bicycles included as part of the hotel services, which required us to intervene to get it resolved. The jacuzzi in our treehouse room was another disappointment. This was one of the features we were most looking forward to, but unfortunately it was dirty and dusty, to the point that we did not feel like using it. The surroundings are beautiful, but some aspects of the property also need improvement. The signage is poor and it is very easy to get lost when you first arrive. Some areas around the pool did not look particularly clean, and the beach is much smaller than we expected. With more than fifty rooms, the number of sun loungers available on the beach also seemed completely insufficient. On the positive side, the natural setting is beautiful and the hotel offers a nice opportunity to enjoy nature. We also appreciated that activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding were included. Overall, we feel that Hotel Las Islas is overpriced and somewhat overrated. The setting is beautiful, but for more than €1,700 for three nights, we expected a much higher standard of service, cleanliness, organisation and attention to detail. We came expecting a luxury experience and left feeling that there were simply too many small issues, and that we had to repeatedly complain in order to get things corrected. Gracia Hunt .

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Transportation to the resort via car went smooth and was well executed. Our room was wonderful. We had a room that overlooked the ocean with a pool. It had a walk out onto one of several beaches. The walkout was wonderful until other guest started to walk (or ride their bikes) onto our deck while we were changing! The staff was wonderful but they were understaffed. When the restaurant was slow, it was divine. When it was busy, It took on average 30-40 minutes to get our check, even when we asked multiple times. We saw the staff running during these times to try to keep up but with a restaurant that seats approximately 80 and only a hand full of servers it was impossible to keep up. The bioluminescent tour was disappointing. It was not what was advertised. The other guests on our tour made the experience worth while. However, the tour around town of Barú was amazing and should not be missed. The guide was passionate, kind and made us feel comfortable. It was our favorite tour in Colombia. I loved the app they provided to the hotels amenities but it didn’t work every time. Our boat transfer was cancelled the night before we were to leave because it was too expensive for just myself and my husband. The hotel offered us a helicopter transport, which was not ideal for us. We accepted the helicopter only after we argued with the hotel to provide and pay for our transportation to our next hotel from the small airport. Not an ideal ending to our trip. I wanted this hotel to divine but the price did not match our experience. We did not hate our experience and we will be back to Barú but not to Hotel las Islas.
What a unique and wonderful place! It is very impressive how this resort is fully immersed in nature while keeping all the comfort of a five-star resort. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, the food excellent and the service good, especially the spa service which was outstanding. The grounds are exceptional and bursting with life. The beach, while small, was pristine and beautiful. The Consierge was reactive and helpful. The one improvement area: the check in… in our case, it was poorly managed and took over an hour. But after that our experience was amazing. Highly recommended! PS: check out the beautiful library and its collection, especially antique African art.
Beautiful resort in a stunning location with a lovely beach and friendly staff. The golf cart service was excellent, the spa massage was fantastic, and we really enjoyed the food, especially breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately, the service and maintenance didn't quite match the luxury setting. We experienced slow service, several maintenance issues that weren't resolved, six cockroaches during our stay, and some advertised facilities closed earlier than stated. At times it also felt like simple questions were an inconvenience. One thing future guests should know is that voluntary hotel insurance and a voluntary 10% service charge are automatically added to the final bill, so it's worth checking your invoice. Overall, we had a relaxing stay and enjoyed our time at Las Islas, but with better attention to detail it could be an exceptional resort.
Gorgeous venue and location but appalling service, cleanliness and overall condition of the rooms. When we checked in our room wasn’t ready until 6pm (we did check in late to be fair but two hours later we still had to call and ask if the room was ready). When we enter the room it is covered in spiderwebs and several hundred insects on the bed and in the room. We also found some dust and dirt on the floor. The water pressure was awful and we had no hot water. Also our jacuzzi wasn’t working and no lights outside were working either. For the amount of money you pay here you get a fraction back in terms of value. In reality this should probably be priced at $200 per night, but would still be a disappointment. After we complained about the cleanliness of the room we were met by attitude from the front desk personnel, who also were not apologetic or understanding in any way. In the restaurant the courses were served at different times and the food was not served at the right temperature (ordered well done and served medium rare for example). Overall a deeply frustrating and truly disappointing experience as we were very much looking forward to staying here after having visited the venue last year and came away with an excellent impression. It feels like a very mismanaged property and I don’t think they’ll be able to charge these prices for much longer. I really do hope they get their stuff together, because this venue and property has immense potential. That said, I don’t think we will ever come back here and I would actively discourage anyone from visiting this venue.
