I was not on the list of go highlands tour. They told me I had canceled it which I did in September due to wrong date but immediately re book the activity. I was lucky that day bc of the stormy weather a couple had to reschedule their trip and they happened to be on the pick up site otherwise this go highland van would not had been there. Viator send me many reminders and I knew I was on that tour , I showed the lady all my emails…. At the end I took the tour but I have to thank this couple that reschedule the trip. Shows very bad communication between the go highland company and Viator.

Itinerary
Our first stop will be to the Clava cairns. Clava Cairns are a well-preserved Bronze Age cemetery complex of passage graves; ring cairns, kerb cairns and standing stones in a beautiful setting. Clava Cairns or the Prehistoric Burial Cairns of Bulnuaran of Clava are a group of three Bronze Age cairns located near Inverness. A hugely significant and exceptionally well preserved prehistoric site, Clava Cairns is a fantastic example of the distant history of Highland Scotland, dating back about 4,000 years.
Our second stop... is a visit to the powerfully moving site of the final Jacobite Rising – the last and most harrowing pitched battle to fought on British soil between a Jacobite army and Government forces. . Explore the interactive visitor centre, view fascinating artefacts from both sides of the confrontation, and experience the battle in the immersive surround cinema. On 16 April 1746, the final Jacobite Rising came to a brutal head. Jacobite supporters, seeking to restore the Stuart monarchy to the British thrones, gathered to fight the Duke of Cumberland's government troops.
We will travel along the shore of Loch ness towards Drumnadrochit from Inverness, stopping of course for a photo or two. Maybe Nessie will join us too :)
Great Glen is both Scotland's newest and, proudly, its smallest craft distillery. Harnessing the elements of a wild place, This smooth, earthy gin is their love letter to nature... so let's stop and have a wee taste. PLEAE NOTE - The Distillery is closed from December 1st until April 2024. However Gin tastings are still possible in the shop opposite the distillery.
The beautiful Castle is best viewed and photograped from from a distance. It's a Castle full of Wild natural beauty and 1,000 years of history - Urquhart Castle offers a taste of the Highlands at their most dramatic.

My wife and I took the Outlander tour (accidentally, despite not actually knowing what Outlander was) and it turned out to be an excellent historic outing. Our tour guide Sarah was a local who was clearly passionate about sharing Scottish history and Highland culture. She gave the perfect amount of background knowledge for each stop and then happily answered our unending questions, spinning off into related tangents, personal experiences, and was everything you want a guide to be.
We loved this tour. George was a great guide and we really enjoyed learning from and talking to him!
Sarah’s stories of Scotland were enchanting. If one didn’t love this country before this tour, it would definitely happen during the tour. Her sharing of Scot history was warm and real !!! My wife & I were enamored with her descriptions of Cairn Clava , Culloden Moor, Cawdor Castle & gardens, plus the wee Dores Inn at Loch Ness. Thank you, Sarah, for making our first trip to Scotland truly MAGICAL!!!
Had a great time. Tour guide/driver was knowledgable, interesting, and fun. The van fits 8 people, there was 6 of us total. The drive was comfortable, felt relaxed and safe. Every stop was worth the visit. Highly recommed this tour.
This was an excellent way to see the many sites and the beautiful area in and around in Inverness. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable.
Best tour ever! Sara, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable providing us with so much information and history at each location as well as on our travels throughout the day. Sarah was very accommodating, making the tour very personal for us. She was fun, interesting and a pleasure to be with for the day. She left us with a lifetime memory.
We had an amazing day with George, the most experienced Scottish tour guide ever! He informed us of so many important and interesting facts about Scotland and its history and the highlands. We were blown away with his candor and ability to be both informative but make it a fun day for everyone! This tour was with my husband and two other couples. I highly recommend (especially if you’re an outlander fan like me).
Amazing tour. We have travelled all over the world and this may have been our favorite tour ever. George is a true Scotsman and knew Outlander inside and out. He took us to Culloden and also to the stones at Crava. We discussed Outlander and Scottish history. In addition we saw Loch Ness (but no monster was seen) and he took us to see and feed beautiful Clydesdale horses. We saw a spectacular Castle and did a tour of the beautiful gardens there. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better guide and it was a fantastic way to spend our day while staying in Inverness.
We had a great experience from this trip, thanks to Alastair who has rich knowledge about the history of these places and, in general, about Scotland and UK. Thank Alastair and George as well for arranging the time effectively with great care.
Loved this tour and Roger was so informative and fun - not rushed - and the battlefield was very moving.
The most fantastic tour and tour guide we’ve ever had! George’s stories and knowledge of history made everything come alive.
Ask for George Murray, he was the best guide we had on our trip. He even took us to an extra stop. So very interesting.
Excellent tour guide, George, knowledgeable, humorous and very nice. We saw “Craig na Dun” and Culloden including the Fraser Clan stone, the battlefield, monument and the museum. We stopped to see some beautiful horses and toured Cawdor Castle which is beautiful. I recommend this highly! Go Highlander can be booked directly on their website.
Our guide, Sarah, was excellent! Her knowledge of the area was extensive, and she shared information in a way that was both engaging and informative. She was clearly passionate about the history and sights we visited, which made the experience even more enjoyable. My only criticism concerns the ticket pricing. Given the cost of the tour, I was a bit surprised to learn that admission to the castle and the battlefield museum required additional fees. In fairness, I may have overlooked the details when booking, but I had assumed the tour was all-inclusive except for lunch. It would be helpful if those extra costs were highlighted more prominently during the booking process so guests know exactly what to expect. Overall, Sarah did an outstanding job, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour.
Dress for every kind of weather as it can change quickly. There are lots of opportunities to learn about Highland culture which we really appreciated. Our guide George was a fantastic with so much valuable knowledge. He really made sure we had a great experience.
Fabulous guide Sarah did not disappoint! So knowledgeable and fun. Loved all of the Outlander tour, Culloden battlefield, Clara Cairns, Lock Ness, Cowder Castle and Gardens. Loved it all!
I cannot rave enough about our guide George! His knowledge was great and he made our experience top notch! It was a great experience and our whole group highly recommends this!
George was an exceptional guide, providing a narration of our trip, but especially the history to understand the area. He made wonderful suggestions about the itinerary. He was very informative, professional & made the day perfect.
George was an excellent guide who added his knowledge of history and a bit of science to embellish our experience. Having lived in the area growing up he was able to draw from his experiences to guide and entertain us.
Sarah was an amazing tour guide. We learned so much on this trip and loved the personal touch of hearing about stories of her growing up and the connection she has to her heritage and giving us stories outside of the tour itself. If we had visited the sites without a tour we would have missed out on so much. Highly recommend!
If I could give more than five stars I would. Been on a bunch of tours, this one is in a class by itself. George Murray, the guide was funny, insightful, friendly, knew his history and told it with verve and pride. and took us to places not on the itinerary. That were even better than what was promised. Also, he seemed to know everyone in Scotland. And they all loved him as we did.
George was an amazing guide and a true pleasure to meet. My mom's 84 years of being on this earth had a dream to make it to her father's place of birth. George made this visit a gift she'll never forget.
Perfect day trip around Inverness. Our guide Sarah was fantastic, flexible, and extremely knowledgeable of local traditions and Scottish History.
Had an AMAZING tour with George! We had the best time ever, and it was literally one best tours we’ve ever been on in any vacation. Created memories that’ll last a lifetime. Saw beautiful sights, and learned so much history as well. Highly recommend choosing this company for your tour needs in Scotland. 🏴
George was an amazing guide, We were the only ones for the day and feel that we were given more than expected, very informative in a fun way.
My husband and I ended up the only two on this tour and we had a wonderful one on one experience with George. Clava Cairns was so interesting once the history was explained by this local guide. Highly recommend booking this tour in particular because of the knowledge this company brings to the tour experience.
Alistair was a wonderful trip guide....very interesting, engaging, and went above and beyond to give us an awesome trip experience. We would highly recommend this experience and tour operator.
We had a fantastic Highland tour, made truly special by our guide, George. He was super knowledgeable about local history, incredibly personable, answered all our questions, and shared great stories that brought the Highlands to life.
George did a wonderful job as a tour guide. If you’re looking for a tour in Galway, Scotland to take this is the one you need to take. Thank you for the amazing day and tour!
We had an exceptional day on the Loch Ness and Outlander Sites Tour from Inverness, thanks entirely to our outstanding guide, Alistair Kennedy. What makes a great tour guide great? Alistair embodies it all: extremely well-informed, highly articulate, easily understood, and full of infectious enthusiasm. With extensive Highland experience through longstanding family ties and his own life there, plus a military background that gives him deep knowledge of Scottish military history, he brought remarkable expertise to every site we visited. But beyond knowledge, Alistair is extraordinarily personable and delightful to be with, a wonderful sense of humor, and genuinely a really nice man. He made our small group feel like a family for the day, all part of a unified team enjoying the experience together. He never rushed us, always listened to questions, and delivered information-packed, engaging commentary at every stop. What makes Alistair truly unique is that even though he's surely seen these sites hundreds of times, his sense of curiosity, awe at the history and nuance, and amazement at what these important sites represent feels completely authentic. It's as if he's seeing them for the first time alongside you. That's the gift of an excellent communicator and passionate guide. The day was jam-packed with outstanding experiences: the Bronze Age Clava Cairns, Culloden Battlefield, the shores and mysteries of Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, whiskey tasting at the Singleton Distillery (Alistair didn't partake as he was driving), and even - at my wife's and another guest's request - a surprise stop where we petted Highland cows! Alistair made it all happen seamlessly. One exceptional experience after another, led by a truly outstanding guide. Highly recommend!
My sister and I had a tour with George, and we overwhelmingly enjoyed ourselves. George managed well enough with our puns and jokes. He was very knowledgeable and spun folklore into his talks about history on several stops. I enjoy those stories a lot. At Culloden Battlefield, where there’s much to absorb if you have no understanding for the cause, he gave plausible perspectives of influence. I appreciated the history. The van was very comfortable, clean and spacious. This is a high quality tour.
What a great tour. Allastair was an excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable in all the history and kept things engaging. Highly recommend
Book ahead and ask for Sarah and George!! 100% fun! Even obscure historical details were offered and we really enjoyed it!! Engaging and professional!
Top rated group that the guides also guided us through the sites as well. Very knowledgeable about the history as well. Fantastic tour.
Had a great tour with George, who was a wealth of historical knowledge. He also offered us the opportunity to see a better castle (upgrade!) Terrific itinerary!
This is a fantastic tour for any Outlander fan! You won’t see Jamie but you see many filming scenes! Roger was our tour guide - probably the best - besides being extremely witty, he explained the historical perspective behind each place we saw, and of course the Outlander filming perspective. Culloden Battlefield was a very somber and moving stop filled with a lot of historical artifacts at the museum. Roger also entertained us with many stories about Nessie. The time allocated at each stop was perfect and we had an amazing day!!
George is an excellent historian and tour guide. We learned so much about Scotland and in particular the sites we visited. He has a great sense of humour which made the tour more fun
George was an excellent tour guide and so knowledgeable and funny. He was so attentive to anything we may like to see/do/want pictures of or with. I would recommend him to anyone who wants an excellent tour of the Inverness area!
Had a great tour with George. He took us around, told us cool stories and was very knowledgeable. The day was awesome.
Our guide Roger was great. What a sense of humour. The locations were as expected and Roger included an extra stop as we had time.
Roger was entertaining and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the experience. The castles and the Cairns each had their own unique stories.
The tour was incredible. Nice and small group which made for easier travel. The van was very comfortable as well. Roger, our guide, was amazing! Very knowledgeable and hilarious, which made the trip feel very nice. He made it feel like we had known him forever. The highlands are stunning and everyone should experience it when coming to Scotland. 10/10! Thank you Roger for such a wonderful time!
We’ve had the best day, all thanks to our knowledgeable, friendly and funny guide George. He gave the best insights to each place we visited. His suggestions to places we would not have seen were spot on. Highly recommended taking a tour with George. Thanks for a great day.
We had a great day seeing standing stones and cairns at Clava Cairns. Sarah was so knowledgeable and informative about the whole area. We saw a Viaduct and some Highland cows. We visited Culloden Moor, which has a very interesting but sad history and we also visited Urquhart Castle. Sarah made the whole day enjoyable. It's good to have a guide with a lot of local knowledge. We liked being in a small group too.
If you want a true highlands experience, go on this tour. We visited Outlander sites and learned the history behind them. The day was most enjoyable.
We had a fantastic guide, she was nice, funny and really good at telling stories as well as talking about the history in the area. The service was also very good, we really recommend this trip with our guide «Sadie» / Sarah.
We had a great time, our guide was friendly and careful. The tour was very fascinating, highly recommended.
This was an amazing tour! We had the most delightful day with our guide Sarah. She was so warm and friendly, told the most wonderful stories and was so knowledgeable about local history. We will always remember our day spent with her getting to experience a bit of the Scottish Highlands with a real Highlander! Highly recommend!
It was a fantastic day. We had a super good driver and host, we saw a lot. It could not have been better.
