My father and I were traveling around Scotland and stopped by Inverness for a couple of days. I'm so grateful that we booked the tour, it was well worth the time. Lawrence took us around many significant sites around Loch Ness, Culloden, 4,000 year old cairns, a farm to see Highland Cows, and to top it off, a whisky distillery, amongst other things! He is flexible and tailored the tour to be in line with our loose itinerary. Lawrence was able to shed so much light on the history of the area as well as Scotland's broader history. He was kind and generous with the tour, and it easily was one of the highlights of our trip. I learned so much and was able to appreciate what we were seeing. Lawrence is passionate about Scotland, which made the tour that much more engaging. We were extremely comfortable throughout the trip. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. We did a multi day customized tour of the Highlands, Skye and some whiskey tastings along the way. Lawrence was an exceptional tour guide! He had fantastic historical knowledge as well as great stories of all the places and people that make up Scotland’s rich history. Lawrence even was accommodating when we changed the last leg of our trip during the tour to take us back to Edinburgh from Skye. We had an amazing experience with Highlander Private Tours! A family group of 6, we booked a private full day custom experience through the Isle of Skye to see Dunvegan Castle (pickup from our airbnb in Inverness). We are from America and this was our first time to see Scotland. Our driver and guide was Ken, who took us through beautiful scenic routes, with stops at other castles and scenic spots along the way. Ken was very patient with our many questions about the area and answered them with enthusiastic insight and fun storytelling. Ken provided excellent customer service, timed the trip perfectly, and was knowledgeable of the many clans' history. We would request Ken as our tour driver again.

What a terrific day! Prior to the trip, Lawrence worked with me on an itinerary that fit the day and let us see everything we wanted to see. Billy was our driver and he truly made the experience unique, in depth, and so much more fun. He regaled us with tales of Scottish clans along the way to Skye and answered our many questions about Jacobites, tartans, present day relationships with the English and Irish, and the outer Hebrides. We learned so much, and had a truly phenomenal time. It was a rainy misty day in the beginning, but cleared up halfway through the day. Both were beautiful on Skye. Couple administrative notes- We had a mixed age group, and Billy was great at explaining how the terrain might be so we could determine if we could manage it. He also was well prepared with the closest bathroom stop at any point throughout the itinerary in case the smaller bladders needed it. And while we had brought snacks, he also had drinks and snacks available for us. We tried our first Irn Bru thanks to him! We went in mid/late May, which I believe was a great time to go. There were some tourists, but not TOO many. The Scottish bluebells were in bloom, and they make a lovely blue-purple groundcover as you pass by the forests. Again, you might get rain, but it adds to the mystique and beauty of Skye. :)

Never in my life have I had such an absolutely amazing experience with a tour guide. Billy went above and beyond telling us so many stories and histories of Scotland, he went out of his way to get us to so many different places, took the best routes so we could see the best views, had the boot full of snacks and drinks for us and even helped us out with showing us the best places to go in the city where we were staying on the way back to the hotel. Ask for Billy- you will not be disappointed! (P.S. say yes to the whiskey)

Billy was an absolutely fantastic guide of Skye. He was very knowledgeable about the history and the clans, and had a sense of humor that was just so fun. He was willing to fit in as much as we possibly could into our itinerary without any issue. We felt so comfortable the whole time. We saw everything we wanted to and he was always right there waiting with a warm car. He took lots of pictures for us and they turned out great! He even dipped his face in Sligachan with us! We had such a lovely day with him and we’d do it again in a heartbeat!

We took a house overlooking Loch Ness for a special family weekend. Billy arranged a wonderful tour to the Isle of Skye. He kept us entertained all day with his knowledge of Scottish history and nothing was too much trouble. On the day we left Inverness he took us to the Singleton Glen of Ord whisky distillery and arranged lunch all before getting us to the airport in perfect time. Billy smiled for the entire trip, fully engaged with the whole family and made sure we had a great time. Top man!

We had an extraordinary 4 day tour with Highlander Private tours. The entire trip, which started in Edinburgh, took us through Inverness, the Isle of Skye and back, exceeded our expectations. Our guide. Billy, a born and raised Highlander, regaled us with Scottish History, Clan lore, music and an occasional sip of whiskey. His guidance ensured we saw multiple jewels of this magical country. He was a joy to be with, and was very flexible with any of our requests. This included an unplanned stop at Leault Farm in Kincraig, to watch a sheepdog demonstration that blew us away. Best trip ever!!! This company has it all!

Our group of six took a full-day Isle of Skye tour with Billy in late July (departing from Inverness). We were impressed with Billy's attention to detail, not only in the detailed history and lore about the Isle of Skye that he shared with us, but in terms of logistics and comfort as well. Billy was punctual and attentive, offering us bottled waters and snacks throughout our 12-hour day trip. Our group enjoyed many scenic sights during both quick and longer stops throughout Skye (Eilean Donan castle, Uig, Portree, and others). Billy's recommended pub for a lunch stop in Portree was fantastic and had fresh seafood on the menu. We would take another tour with this company.

My family had two days with Billy for our day trip to Skye from Inverness followed by our transfer tour from Inverness to Edinburgh and we couldn’t recommend this company and Billy more! He was wonderful right from the prompt pick ups from our accommodation just outside of Inverness both mornings, stopping at all the attractions, providing loads of Scottish history, tips and tricks, and his driving that made us feel very safe on some of those interesting Scotland roads! We never felt rushed during either day and when the weather was not in our favour, Billy as able to accommodate a date change last minute, which was so appreciated. My family had a wonderful tour of Skye with Billy. He picked us up from our place in Inverness and was very accommodating to whatever and wherever we wanted to stop. He made sure to hit the crowd pleasers, especially since it was our first time visiting, but also was happy to customize with other stops as well. The weather was not fully cooperative, but we all made the best of it! Overall, an excellent tour of Skye and would highly recommend.

We had Graham as our guide and driver. He had lively and interesting commentary on the places we visited, including some extra locations along the way. He was an excellent driver, which was important on some of the one way roads in remote areas. We enjoyed the tour very much.

What a perfect tour even with the inclement weather! Billy was so friendly and warm - he was so knowledgeable and great with my three young boys. Lawrence is a local resident of Scotland. His is very knowledgeable of the history of the local sites on the Highlander Ptivate Tourr. His storing telling kept us wanting to learn more about the areas. His van was clean and well maintained, and he was an excellent driver on the long, narrow roads. A group of five took a wonderful day trip out to Skye with proud Highlander Billy McLean accompanied by his trusty assistant Hamish the Hairy Coo. He was very entertaining and so informative with genuine knowledge and history of the Highlands. We experienced Loch Ness, Eilean Donan Castle, Old Sligachan Bridge, Portree, the Quiraing with a peak at Old Man Storr. According to legend, he even demonstrated how to stick your face in the water under the Old Sligachan Bridge for 7 seconds and let it dry off naturally to be granted eternal beauty. Two more brave souls engaged! We were picked up and dropped off at our stay outside of Inverness and he was ever flexible with the itinerary. Great communication and information was provided so we could pick the tour that fit our interests. The full day Isle of skye tour was fantastic. Comfortable clean vehicle with historical commentary between the sites. We never felt rushed and were able to enjoy each site. It was so personal as Lawrence took just us around. We did a day sightseeing trip of the isle from Inverness because we only had one day. We did Eilean Donnan castle, then we crossed to Skye, went up to Portree and up to Quirang then came back from the other side of the island. Billy, our guide was very accommodating and crafted the perfect itinerary to see the main sights and took the best pictures od us. Additionally, he stopped at the right spot for pictures and explained the sights. He was extremely serviceable, kind and patient with our toddler. Highly recommended for families!.

The tour was amazing. Our guide, Billy, was a wonderful guy. We saw many awe-inspiring sites in the Isle of Skye topped off with a visit to Talisker for a few drams. The real highlight of the tour though was working with Billy. He was very cordial, knowledge, and helpful in planning the day. He even helped us plan our travel the following day through Gelncoe to the south and offered us a tour, since he was available. We took the second tour offered to us for another wonderful day in Scotland. We traveled for our honeymoon with two friends tagging along.

We had Billy as our tour guide for the past two days and he was amazing! Very informative and so patient, even with my husband who insisted on getting the best angle on every photo no matter how long it took! He took us all over the Isle of Skye and then the next day drove us to Glencoe, to see the Kelpies and then to our hotel door in Glasgow. We took a chance and booked this trip based on the rave reviews here and were absolutely thrilled! Billy was our driver/guide and was a delight to spend the day with as well as being well informed and totally flexible about what to do and where to go. The drive itself to and from the Isle of Skye was beautiful and the Isle was gorgeous. This day tour was definitely the highlight of our trip to Scotland!
