We had a very friendly, informative tour which gave a great insight into the history of Inverness. Elaine relayed her knowledge and was very receptive to our questions- we wished the tour was longer as we enjoyed it so much!

Begin in the heart of Inverness and get your bearings with a local guide. You’ll be introduced to the city’s history, character and role as the capital of the Highlands.
Stop near one of Inverness’s grand civic buildings and learn what it reveals about the city’s growth, ambition and role in Highland public life. Entry is not required for this walking tour.
Admire the exterior of Inverness Cathedral and explore the riverside while learning about the city’s architecture, faith, community and scenic setting along the River Ness.
Marvel at one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks and hear how the castle, river and surrounding streets connect to Inverness’s long and turbulent history. (Exterior visit only)
Follow part of the River Ness and discover how the river has shaped the city’s development, atmosphere and identity. This is one of the best places to appreciate Inverness’s natural setting. Look out for Nessie!
Pass one of the city’s key cultural venues and learn more about modern Inverness, local life and the city’s creative side.
Take in views across the River Ness and hear stories that connect the city’s past and present. Your guide will point out local details and context you may miss exploring alone.
End near one of Inverness’s most historic areas and discover stories of faith, conflict, community and change. This final stop brings together the tour’s themes of Highland history, local identity and everyday life in the city.

Inverness is a wonderful city. Guide was able to share the history with us. We would not have seen everything that she shared with us.
Absolutely book this walking tour—not only will you understand more about the wonderful city’ history, geography, and hidden gems, but you’ll also get a sense of the people and their hospitality. Definitely a 10/10.
Christine our guide was an outstanding and informative speaker who took us to a number of important historical sites. She is well spoken, added some humour to her presentations and just made the walk a very pleasant experience.
Fantastic walking tour. Annie was a very clear and entertaining tour guide. Big thank you!
This tour is generally fast moving and my counter said about 7000 steps for the 90 minutes. Andy the guide gave the History of the sites and threw in his own comments along the way. It was worth every pound of the coat. Hopefully you will have the same sunny weather we did.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour, led by Highlands native Savanna. It was just the right length (about 90 minutes) and an informative and entertaining mix of fact and lore.
Inverness walking tour with history, anecdotes, confronting tales, funny tales and a swing bridge. BRILLIANT
Annie was a great guide. Learned lots of fun facts about Inverness. Personable, engaging, and a great sense of humor.
Steve was a great guide. He is knowledgeable and an excellent storyteller. Taking a tour early in our visit always helps get us oriented and determine what we are interested in knowing more about
Andy did a very nice job of leading a small group around highlights of Inverness and giving both historical points of interest as well as modern take on the city and surrounding area.
Excellent tour. Wonderful guide called Savannah. Made her presentation very interesting and engaging. Her bits of added humour just gave the tour that little extra making the whole event so enjoyable 😁
Excellent tour of old Inverness town/city Our guide was knowledgeable, informative and patient with our group
A wonderful introduction to Inverness with an informative and engaging guide, Simon. The walk was easy and took us to several different parts of the city. The information was a combination of history and current day. And the weather was absolutely beautiful.
Andy was great! Knowledgeable, patient, and enthusiastic!
This walking tour was a great way to see Inverness and get to learn the history. Our tour guide Simon was entertaining, knowledgeable and made an effort to get to know everyone on the tour.
Becky was a lovely guide & I definitely learned more about Inverness & saw more than I would have on my own.
Savana made sure that we learned something interesting about the city without overloading us with too many facts. She shared a lot of interesting stories about the history of the city and its people. Great and entertaining walk.
Savanna was such a great guide, it was wonderful to get a tour from a local. She had a lot of fun stories and tales about the town and took us to a lot of interesting locations. I will be bringing the tale of Lenny the dragon back to the states, thanks Savannah!
Nice walk around towns with local guide. We were the only couple on the tour, so got to go at our own pace and ask all the questions we wanted. Simon was a very good guide. Very enjoyable indeed!
Great walking tour , funny guide, great historian !! Enjoyed the walk and view points . Would recommend
Tour did not include stops as advertised- no castle, no cathedral, no Eden Court theatre. I was interested in hearing more about the history of Inverness at these stops. I would not recommend this tour. Viator is usually so reliable, as advertised, but not this time.
Annie was great and provided us with a fun and informative tour! It was a great way to get to know Inverness
The stops on the tour were good to learn about the town and get our bearings. Our guide did a nice job of storytelling and keeping our interest, without going over the top.
Very nice, easy walk with interesting info. Our guide was very informative and made sure all our questions were answered.
Annie was a very funny and informative guide. A born performer, she made this walking tour a hoot! (Plus the village is beautiful as well! ;)
Savanna led a great tour around the city of Inverness. There was a good mix of facts and stories all presented in a friendly style. We liked the 1.5 hr length - perfect to do at 5pm and then find dinner.
Interesting and informative walking tour of Central Inverness. Local tour guide had a good knowledge of the city and explained everything in a friendly and humorous manner.
Really enjoyed this. The guide was superb. Very interesting and friendly
Guide was nice, very knowledgeable. Tour was ok. Not exactly what we were expecting. Not many stops or real points of interest.
Great fun, terrific quide, highly recommend!
This was a great 1.5 hour, easy walking tour with colorful story telling along the way! It was very enjoyable and we learned much!
This was a lovely tour. Inverness is lovely and very walkable and our guide was very informative and clearly proud of his city! I would recommend it.
Doug was a terrific guide: friendly and knowledgeable, with a great, dry sense of humor. Very highly recommended.
Steve was a very good guide! He’s very knowledgeable and full of random facts and bits of local history that would be impossible to discover otherwise. He’s also very funny and a great storyteller. The tour was a little bit over an hour and a half, covered good ground and the pace was very comfortable. Plenty of time to take some photos and to listen to Steve on each stop. We took a late tour and it was a nice atmosphere to see the city preparing for the evening. At the end he gave great tips for food places. Overall a very pleasant experience and a great way to get to learn about Inverness. Would definitely recommend!
Our tour guide, Andy, was terrific. He shared great stories making history and place come alive for us. I recommend this tour wholeheartedly. If you are lucky, you’ll get Andy!
Our tour was a great intro to Inverness. Doug was knowledgeable and kept our group interested with all sorts of info about the city. A good amount of walking for the time taken.
Our guide Annie was spectacular. Friendly, funny, knowledgeable. The tour was a nice length and pace was good.
Steve was knowledgeable and we enjoyed our tour.
Our guide, (Steve), was great and very funny, he had lots of great tall tales of the Scottish history, a very enjoyable time!!
Annie was an amazing tour guide! Highly recommend this tour! She was very knowledgeable and entertaining!
One of our favorite tours in Scotland. Elaine was excellent; super knowledgeable, passionate about Inverness and history - and a great story teller with pertinent and interesting knowledge. She also took us to see a wide range of sites in a short period of time. She claimed not to be an official “historian” but she was a wealth of knowledge and one of the best tour guides we had in Scotland. We left her tour wanting more time in Inverness! Highly recommend!
I enjoyed learning about Inverness history. Our tour guide was well informed and witty, a great combination. I had been in town a few hours and this was a super orientation and helped me decide what to do next day. At the end of the walk we were given dining recommendations and information about getting out to see Battle of Culloden site. And our guide happily answered any other questions he had not anticipated!
An excellent introduction to Inverness by our guide Annie. She added significant humour to her knowledge of the “village”. A great raconteur! Thank you, Annie, for bringing life to Inverness.
Great experience, Karen was the best guide , amazing scenery all around. Lots of stops and beautiful pictures.
Steve was an exceptional guide and provided a wonderful overview of Inverness history. He gave us great recommendations and I would highly recommend doing this experience!
Annie Fraser was friendly, bubbly, informative and professional. I loved the experience so much.
Annie was a knowledgable, friendly and enthusiastic tour guide. We learned a lot about the city of Inverness and its rich history.
Great way to begin our vacation. Good overview of the city and local history. Annie was a delight, with a few local recommendations for hot chocolate and to ask about the privy in a former church.
We had a very pleasant experience. First our guide Doug was super... just the right amount of info, mimicry, jest and length of tour. Strongly recommended
