We had an excellent day touring Speyside with George. He clearly knows the area well and picked three great distilleries that gave us a good mix of experiences: a full tour, a few small-batch producers, and plenty of tastings along the way. He also filled in a lot of the history of the region and the individual distilleries as we drove between stops, which made the day feel like more than just a string of tastings. What stood out most was how much effort George put into making sure we saw as much as possible. When we asked about adding a fourth distillery that wasn’t on the plan, he made it work without any fuss. He was easygoing, flexible, and good company the whole day. If you only have one day in Speyside, this is a fantastic way to experience it. We’d book with George again without hesitation.

What an amazing day spent with George learning about Scottish history and visiting Speyside distilleries. It was the perfect day. We loved visiting locally owned distilleries and seeing the countryside along the way. I highly recommend this tour. You won’t be disappointed!!
An informative overview of barrel and whiskey making combined with a fair bit of whiskey drinking while being driven through the beautiful Scottish Highlands.
George was very informative. We hired him to take us to distilleries. We had a delightful day with local distilleries as our focus.
George is great! He is a born and raised Scotsman with a vast knowledge of the distilleries and towns that you pass through. We gain valuable knowledge about the history or the towns and distilleries. The Glenfarchlas tour was wonderful. We have been in many dilatory tours but that one was quite detailed. However we did get paired with a large group which should have been separate since they handled a language barrier the tour took longer than expected which made us rush at other stops. I do wish there would have been more time to explore the town we stopped in for a sandwich. It has nothing to do with George, he has the tour timeline planned to a T. I would highly recommend booking this tour. We had a private group since we were the only group who booked it for that date.
George from Clan Tours did not disappoint. We left Inverness and stopped by some beautiful sites and photo ops on the way to the first distillery. He told us stories of growing up in the region and some historical facts. We did the Glenfarclas tour and tasting first which was excellent. Isla from the distillery walked us through the parts of the distillery and answered all questions. The tour includes a small tasting as well. Next we went to the GlenAllachie distillery. This was probably my favorite scotch of the whole trip. The award winning 12 year was great and the 10 year cast strength really opened up with a little water. The Solara was amazing. And the whiskey barrel aged rum was a unique treat. Frankly, we could have spent the day there. We stopped by a lovely small deli that made amazing sandwiches and had some great snacks and treats. The sandwiches were made to order and had they also some pre made things like sausage rolls and meat pies. Next we went to the Speyside Cooperage where the barrels are made and refurbished. The tour was very thorough and seeing the whole process was interesting. And of course the tasting at the end was delicious. Next we went to Glenfiddich which was meticulously landscaped. Great for photo ops. The scotch was great of course and had some rare drams that you can’t find in the states. George made some time for us to hit one more distillery on the way back, which was Glen Moray. This distillery had a slew of different woods types (bourbon, sherry’s cognac, port) with varying vintages. All were delicious and it was a good example of the depth you can get with scotch depending on cask and age. Also easy on the pocket if you wanted to take some to go. For all the sites and points of interest along the way, George gave us the history of the distilleries and surrounding area. Most of the ones we visited were family owned which is an increasingly rare thing. Overall I’d rate this a 5 out of 5 and would definitely book again. Thanks George!
Had a great time, thank you George for a wonderful experience. Couldn’t recommend enough!!!
Honest answer? You’ll have a brilliant time. Very fun and informative. George knew everyone in all the distilleries we visited which made the whole experience that much more enjoyable and me and my cousin felt really included in everything. Some incredible views and fun stories. I can’t rate this guy highly enough. What I enjoyed most was that it was just my cousin and I, so it felt quite intimate and personal. George offered to pick us up from our Airbnb rather than Starbucks which made organising so much easier. This guy will cater to you and show up in an amazing tartan kilt. What better way to explore the Speyside Distilleries than with an authentic Scotsman who knows what he’s talking about and wands to give everyone a great experience? Great guy, I highly recommend and you’ll have an amazing time!
Comfortable transport, great opportunity to see both distilleries and lots of the surrounding area. Relaxed, interesting, well organised and personalised. Highly recommend - we had a great day
Our guide and mentor, George was very knowledgeable, gracious and worked with us to navigate the Highlands and Speyside distilleries
Knowing we weren’t whiskey drinkers, our guide George made the experience pleasant and enjoyable. Learned about the cooperage process and how whiskey is distilled.
Our driver, George was knowledgeable, courteous, and very helpful. we thoroughly enjoyed our day with him.
This tour was fantastic. I highly recommend it to everyone. You’re not gonna get a better person to show you the countryside how beautiful it is incorporating with the way whiskey has come about
What a fantastic day. George reached out to me earlier in the week to let me know the itinerary, where he'd booked us and to make sure our travel plans were going smoothly. He picked us up that morning and he always tried to choose a scenic route that we may not have already seen. The distilleries (especially the tour at Glenfarcalas) were amazing and you know you're with the right person when all the staff immediately greet him with a smile. I would recommend this service to anyone looking for a relaxed day in the Speyside area.
10/10 — we would absolutely book with him again! He was not only punctual but incredibly kind and accommodating to all our needs. Along with visiting some terrific distilleries, he shared fascinating stories and little gems of local history throughout the journey, which made the experience even more special. It was such a wonderful experience !!!! I recommend booking through him directly!
We absolutely loved our tour of Speyside Distilleries! George was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and took us to wonderful spots that we wouldn't have otherwise known about. We highly recommend booking a tour with George!
The tour was amazing! The distilleries that George takes you too are wonderful, and my husband and I learned a lot. It's a great selection of whiskey and George gives you wonderful information about the area. I would highly recommend booking to my friends and family.
10/10 experience! George went out of his way to make sure we had the best time possible. Has a lot of knowledge about whiskey as well as the general area and plenty of great stories. I also really appreciated getting to go to a mix of some smaller and medium-sized distilleries and he’s done a great job of taking you to distilleries you might be less familiar with but are still quality experiences. Would recommend for anyone who is new to whisky and wanting to learn more or even if you’re a whiskey pro and just want a small size tour to explore around Speyside!
George was an excellent tour guide! He had our entire day thoughtfully planned out. He was very knowledgeable about whiskey as well as local history. Every distillery knew him and greeted him by name! Highly recommend.
It was an all day tour of a few local historic sites and three distilleries plus the Speyside Cooperage, which was fantastic. Our guide George was excellent with stories of the region and pointing out wildlife, castles, and old Stone churches all along the way. We’d recommend George to anyone!
My husband and I spent a rainy day traveling to three Speyside whisky distilleries and a cooperage—and what a great day it was! George is a funny and knowledgeable guide, creating camaraderie among our small group as we traveled the countryside. And his kilt! I highly recommend Clan Tours for great fun, great whisky, and a personal touch!
If there was a 6th star, I'd select it. Our tour with Mr. George was absolutely stellar. He has extentive knowledge of not just the distilleries themselves but also of multiple landmarks, even down to tiny details like history of some random bridges or reasoning behind a river's current water level. Additionally, most distilleries we visited knew him so rest assured you are sitting in a professional tour guide's car. Finally, he was also very willing to make changes to the originally proposed route to suit our needs. Overall, 11/10 experience. One unrelated warning though is that many landmarks that you'll be visiting are high up in altitude, meaning weak cell signal, so you better up resolve any online affairs before the start of the tour.
George was a great tour guide. His personality a long with his knowledge of the area and sites were top notch. The tour itself was well organized and thoughtful throughout.
George was amazing! We didnt know much about whisky, but everyone said that we HAD to take a whisky tour while in Scotland and I am glad we did. It was just the two of us on the tour and George had us entertained all the way through! I highly suggest that you take this tour with him.
This is an excellent experience. George is incredibly knowledgeable of the area, history, and whisky, and is more than willing to share some amazing stories. The distilleries were great and the cooperage was an unexpected highlight. George, thank you for the laughs and a great time!
George was an absolute delight! The tour was informative and fun from start to finish. I learned about whisky in the distilleries we visited; and George's local knowledge meant we got some history of the local area to boot (playing "guess the purpose of the old farming equipment was good fun!"). I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the area.
Our tour guide Sarah picked us up at the appointed time and settled us into the van. She told us about the area, asked us what we wanted to see, there was some slight changes we were able to make to the tour itinerary which was awesome since my husband really wanted to see some Pictish stones. Glenfarclas did a very good and thorough distillery tour, with a wee tasting at the end in a beautiful room. We were able to get the Cooperage tour which you should not miss. We did two more tastings and a quick visit to a working wool mill: Knockando Woolmill. Sarah was a great driver and tour guide. This tour was worth it, 100%!
Awesome time with George. Very informative and we can not have imagined a better time. Would recommend to anyone visiting. Everyone say WHISKEY!
George is a very kind and genuine person. Our tour experienced was elevated because of all the information he gave us and all the effort he put to take us around and manage all of our small requests while moving from one distillery to another. Very witty person with good stories and funny jokes. Amazing experience 👍🏻
George was the perfect Scottish guide. We contacted him ahead of time by messaging and requested a specific distillery and his choice for the rest of the day. As we drove he pointed out interesting sights and answered any questions we had. His knowledge of the various distilleries in the area was extensive. We had the full tour of my husband’s favorite distillery and tastings at two others. In addition we learned about the refurbishing of the casks at the area cooperage. We had a quick lunch at a very nice sandwich shop as well. Keep n mind the guide will book the distillery tours but admission payment was our responsibility and not included in the tour fee. The entire day was pleasant, informative and not at all rushed. Big surprise to me was that I have never enjoyed my husband’s scotch whisky but loved the very peaty one I tried. We both would highly recommend the tour, especially with George!
George Was Outstanding! Today I had the pleasure of taking a small group whiskey tour guided by George, and I can honestly say it was one of the best tour experiences I've ever had. It was 6 of us in the van with George traveling through Scotland. From the moment we began, George’s passion for whiskey was infectious. He struck the perfect balance between deep knowledge and entertaining storytelling, making the history, process, and subtle nuances of whiskey not only understandable but truly fascinating. Whether you were a seasoned connoisseur or a total beginner, George made everyone feel welcome and engaged. He had an incredible way of answering questions with insight and humor, and his enthusiasm never felt forced—it was clear he genuinely loves what he does. The tasting portion was especially memorable, thanks to George’s expert guidance on how to appreciate the flavors and aromas like a pro. If you’re considering a whiskey tour, I cannot recommend George highly enough. He turned a great tour into an unforgettable experience. Cheers, George—you were fantastic!
George was excellent! This was a fun filled day with lots of stories and short stops to other very cool locations. We laughed We drank. We learned. Then we drank a bit more and laughed a bit more. Thank you for an amazing day!
George was super friendly and knowledgeable on all Scottish things. He took us for breakfast and lunch at local places and everything was tasty. The whisky tour was an awesome experience! Highly recommend
George was very friendly and knowledgeable. Great itinerary, safe driving, very accommodating and made for a very memorable trip. Would absolutely book again with him!
Our guide, George, was fabulous! He knew so much about the distilleries and the country. He had a great personality!
George was our terrific kilted guide who really knew his whiskey and the highlands area. He also had a good yarn to keep us entertained along the way
We had a wonderful day with George, our tour guide. He picked us up promptly. He communicated with us before pick up. He made sure that we ate at an appropriate time. He also made sure that I made it to my favorite distillery (Glenfiddich), but that I also experienced different whiskies as well. He made sure that we arrived for our tours at the distillery and at the cooperage with plenty of time. He also made sure that we arrived back at our hotel in time for our dinner reservation. We couldn’t have been happier! Thank you, George!
We loved our distilleries tour. George was very informative and helpful. Recommend you book months in advance for some distilleries but let George know what you want. He will make it happen.
George was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. I highly recommend the tour and would use George again. He really knows his stuff.
The tour we took from Inverness to a few Speyside distilleries and the Speyside Cooperage was one of the hoghlighrs of our Scotland trip. George helped us with pronunciations and how to do a roundabout, and generally set us up to have a great day. Our stops included: Glenfarclas Distillery Speyside Cooperage Glenfiddich Glenallachie Glen Moray
He is a nice, gentle and humorous person. also he knows a lot of distilleries and it was really helpful. it was such a great experience.
A great day out with our guide George. It was everything we expected it to be with a personal touch. George was knowledgeable, funny and when there was a few glitches because of unadvertised distillery closures - it is the off season - he sorted everything out quickly. All the stops along the tour were excellent, enough time and very relaxing. We recommend a full day with George and will do it again when we come back next time!
Viator gave us a different time initially (10 am) the tour company called us the day before to inform us about the time change but we had terrible reception at the hotel we stayed so I didn’t get the call or the email! Operator called us 8 am on the day but we were 10 miles away and told us they cannot wait! We lost money on this tour! Won’t be using visitor again for any tours!
George was amazing driver and guide, he knows very well every single road of speyside. We had a great time to visit multiple distilleries, also had a chance to visit cooperage. Highly recommend!
We had a perfect day with George, who took really good care of us all day long. Never had a guide with more knowledge than this guy. Worth a trip to Scotland just to go on a tour with George.
George was very nice. However, his microphone didn’t work the first payof the day. Even when it was fixed, his accent was soooo strong none of us could understand what he was saying.
Visiting the Cooperage was very interesting. We got to visit 3 distilleries. Unfortunately, they weren't all the ones we had requested. When we sent the ones we wanted to visit and it was acknowledged, there was no communication that we had to go online and prepurchase our own tickets. We knew we had to pay for them, but thought that we would pay at each distillery and that the guide would have made all the reservations. The tour guide at Glenfarclas was awesome. Best distillery tour we ever attended.
Really good experience. Amanzing. Safe and you can know destilaries not so famous. Really good wiskys
George picked us up timely, provided us an overview of the day and it was more amazing than we could have imagined. His knowledge of Scotland, local areas, history, stories, etc.. filled our day with information making it an experience we will treasure. His customer experience is outstanding!! We would highly recommend him and plan to use him again in the future.
We had an amazing day touring the Speyside area and going to whisky tastings at Cardu, The Glenvivet, Glenfiddich, and Glenfarclas. Sarah, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about the area and took us to off the beaten track areas as well. We learned more about Scottish history and explored another area of Scotland! What an incredible day! Highly recommend this tour!
