Itinerary
During this self-guided experience, travelers can explore one of Scotland's most fascinating heritage landmarks at their own pace with admission included. Perched above Loch Ness, the restored estate offers an opportunity to discover centuries of history, from its origins as a Highland hunting lodge and later expansion by the Fraser family to its associations with Aleister Crowley and Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. Visitors can admire the restored building and grounds, including the remarkable reclaimed Ballachulish slate roof, while learning how an international community of volunteers removed more than 124 tonnes of rubble by hand following two devastating fires to preserve the property. The experience also includes time to enjoy the dramatic Highland scenery surrounding the estate before concluding with an optional whisky or gin tasting that highlights local distilling traditions. Comfortable footwear is recommended for exploring the grounds and uneven outdoor surfaces.

The website doens't do justice to this truly magical house in every sense of the word. The film and audiotour are outstanding and the property is breathtaking. DO NOT MISS IT - it will be the highlight of your time in the Highlands as it was for us.
Very informative and the art work that went into the entire house is amazing!!
The most gorgeous house. This house is a true beauty with such an irresistible energy and an interior that is the result of true masters. I was lucky enough to be there for the Grand Opening and I would return to this magical place in a heartbeat.
We live locally but were out for a walk and popped in for a visit. I don't know what I was expecting but it was a really great experience. The house is stunning and every room has a beautiful view. The tour is well presented and lots of information is given. The Gallery was my favourite. I spent ages just looking at all the artwork. It has a small but well stocked gift selection and the staff were so lovely and chatty. The gardens are well maintained and the price is really reasonable. We came on a beautiful day in the late summer. I look forward to going back in the winter where I imagine the house will take on a different feel. Highly recommend.
An incredible restoration of such a famous building. Every room has been carefully reconstructed and recreated and the visitor experience curated from start to finish. You can visit in as little as an hour or can spend three hours here there is always more to see. Exhibitions and new installations keep it fresh so can’t wait to come next year
Absolutely stunning house. Quality throughout. I visited this house when it was a ruin. Then seeing the total renovation today was incredible. Grounds are lovely too. Definitely worth a visit.
Worth a visit! The tour is very informative which you can do at your own pace. The restoration is to a very high standard and really does bring Boleskine House to life. What a beautiful view of Loch Ness from the house.
Fantastic visit , the self audio tour is extremely well put together to explain the history of this property . I last visited outside on road many many yrs ago and so grateful it is open to public after the top tradespeople rebuilt it . Its a ongoing project , the facilities , toilets , visitors centre ( just opened ) outside picnic tables , that gives your the feel of the surroundings . Also you must visit the old cemetery , a short walk from the entrance gates .Well worth the admission fee .i was there around two hrs , my main interest in the building was the jimmy page connection but of course this place known for aliester Crowley . Maybe a visitor book could be put in reception building
A hidden gem! Fascinating history, beautiful restoration, and fantastic self guided tour. Great for those interested in architecture and historic preservation, as well as occult imaginings.
Fantastic visit, the electronic guide was excellent. They have mad a brilliant job of restoring the building. Really interesting tour and well worth the admission fee.
Having driven past the former ruin many times before and wondered how it must have looked it was great to be get inside on opening day in April. So much so that we returned with a visiting friend in May and enjoyed the full video tour and history. With stunning scenery around and craftsmanship in abundance in its restoration this is a unique place to witness and imagine what past stories it could tell.
Boleskine House is a fascinating and beautifully restored property, curated with real passion. You can explore at your own pace while listening to the history of each room, the people who lived their and the renovation journey, which makes the visit feel personal and engaging. The staff and volunteers are friendly, helpful, and clearly dedicated, adding so much warmth to the experience. It’s also great value for money given the quality of the restoration and the depth of the storytelling. The house feels alive with purpose — not a museum piece, but a place with a future. The peace and tranquillity are wonderful, and the views over Loch Ness and the surrounding hills are breathtaking.
Beautiful house in a stunning location, expertly restored after what was a catastrophic fire. I went to the reopening, and because of the pressure of huge numbers of visitors, which obviously created time constraints on how long you could linger inside the house, I will be back when it is a bit quieter, to take one of the self-guided tours. Highly recommend!
A beautifully restored and rather unique Scottish mansion house. This property has its share of history and intrigue, all of which you can learn about from their well curated tours. The craftsmanship that has gone into the restoration is very impressive and beautifully executed. I didn't want to leave.
We visited Boleskine House and it’s one of the most memorable stops we’ve made around Loch Ness. After years of restoration, it’s now fully open and the results are stunning. You can really feel the care that’s gone into bringing this historic house back to life. We visited Inverness Castle as well and have to say Boleskine House is better and has far exceeded expectations. Expect this place to get popular quickly! There is a self-guided tour coming out in April which we are told will take around an hour to complete and the story is genuinely unique. This house has Highland history, folklore, Jacobite connections, and the famous Crowley legacy. We also loved the sense that this is a living project with real people working here and every day working to improve the estate and grounds. The setting is beautiful and it has amazing views of Loch Ness, beautiful flower beds and nice wildflower meadows. Practical info (worth knowing): Open daily from April 2026, 10:00am–4:00pm Whisky and gin tastings run in the afternoon from 4:00pm and must be pre-booked (do it in advance — they will sell out) If you’re anywhere near Inverness or doing the Loch Ness route, put this on your list!
This is a good opportunity to see a complete renovation of a historic home and it will be exciting to see it when it is complete. The self guided tour of the grounds is informative and entertaining. It is worth continuing on south to Foley for a stop at Cameron Tea Room, make sure to make a reservation! This is a very popular stop with groups of cyclists. Plenty of beautiful Highland Cattle for pictures.
Whether you are visiting Boleskine house for it's links to Jacobian Scotland, the occultist Alistair Crowley, the infamous Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin or even Georgian architecture... I assure you, you will not be disappointed. Due to the devastating fires which had gutted the house there were still extensive renovations taking place during our visit. Despite this, there is a comprehensive audio tour of the exterior of the house, grounds and coach house which brings you close enough to the buildings to feel the history of it's notorious occupants. The tour takes around 90 minutes and is plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere without feeling hurried. The grounds themselves were immaculate considering the work being undertaken. We were greeted at the gate by one of the trustees, a gentleman named Gary who was professional, polite and very knowledgeable. He helped us with the audio tour and took some time to explain what the future plans might be for the house as a more established attraction once the building works are completed. The current owners clearly have a deep passion for preserving the house, so generations to come can have the pleasure of visiting the house in it's former glory. I wish them every success in this and will be returning myself to see the results.
The visit to Boleskine House is a first-class experience! The audio guide tour conveys the secrets of this uniquely restored estate to visitors - a fantastic experience!
