We stayed the night at Blackfriars and it was lovely. No lift, but all the charm of a bed and breakfast. Our stay came with the Continental breakfast. Pastries were warm and delicious and overnight oats with different toppings, I added the lemon curd. We lived it so much we're going back for dinner. Super close to train station banks, and market. Highly recommended ❤️

The restaurant was INCREDIBLE. Easily the best meals I’ve had on our trip! Had the mushroom risotto with scallops added on, and every bite I was saying how delicious it was. Others in our group had the house salad, soup of the day, the caper salmon dish (yum!) and the pie of the day. All enjoyed! The staff were kind but busy. There was a wait to put our food order in because the kitchen was behind but we didn’t mind waiting and enjoying some treats off the extensive whiskey/scotch menu. Would absolutely return!
You’ve got to visit this incredible restaurant. We had a seafood meal that was so delicious and flavorful. I’d be there tonight if I could! The chef is amazing as is Caitlyn who helped us check in to the adorable hotel and also served us our dinner. (And also appetizers the next day.) There are many choices of spritzes - all delicious! We highly, highly recommend for any occasion. You’ll love the food as we did and also appreciate the ambience and clever and beautiful decor. Serious thought went into this establishment and you will not be disappointed! Give it a try and definitely try the Cullen Skink and the seafood variety plate. Marvelous!
I visited Blackfriars in Inverness as a group of four and had a really enjoyable afternoon. The pub is beautifully decorated, with lots of character with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. Honestly its lovely, and not what I expected from the outside. (Such a pleasant surprise) We shared the langoustines and mussels to start, both of which were delicious and beautifully presented. The food throughout the afternoon was excellent, full of flavour and clearly prepared with care. Our main course was just as tasty. A special mention to Dee, the manager, who made us feel very welcome. She recommended an Albariño to go with our seafood, and it was a great choice – it paired perfectly with our starters. Forgot to mention the bread with flavoured butter is amazing. Overall the service was friendly and attentive without being over the top, and everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We’d happily return the next time we’re in Inverness. I have recommended to friends. A great spot for good food, good wine and a relaxed afternoon or evening 🍷 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The newly refurbished bar and restaurant provided a stylish, cosy, and relaxed atmosphere, and the staff made us feel welcome throughout our visit with friendly and attentive service. The menu was varied, offering a selection of small plates alongside starters, mains, and desserts. Our group enjoyed a range of dishes, and every plate was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The seafood dishes were particularly impressive, and the desserts were equally delicious. The drinks menu is extensive, with an excellent choice of wines, cocktails, and spirits, including a fantastic range of whiskies. Overall, a pleasant and very enjoyable experience.
