I mistakenly thought the tour was going to be public despite the title saying it was private, so I was pleased for our family to get a private tour, which was more personal and allowed for more interaction. Alex was great. He was very knowledgeable of Innsbruck and its history, and able to answer our questions. He had a great personality and enjoyed his humor.

This is a private tour just your group and a best way to walk the old town as well as the new, plus to learn about its rich history. The tour guide, Alexander is professional and knowledgeable about the Tyrol region and Austrian Heritage.
This is a must start with nice walking tour to get your day started in Innsbruck.Alexander, our guide and I were able to communicate in advance through the VIATOR App and setting up a real start time based on our arrival. He was there as advertised ready to go. Alexander is funny and friendly fulll of great information. A great introduction to the city. It was a Holiday so traffic was light. He did a great job helping us learn about town, get our bearings , recommended some nice spots. He is a 5 star guide for sure!
We had a wonderful experience on our private tour with Alexander. He picked us up in Garmisch in his comfortable van and drove us to Innsbruck for a relaxed and informative 90-minute city tour. The entire ride was smooth, and Alexander shared so much interesting history and local insight along the way. He showed us the highlights of beautiful Innsbruck at an easy, enjoyable pace, then gave us some free time to soak in the charm of the city on our own before driving us back to the train station. We truly loved the time we spent with him. His professionalism, knowledge, and friendly personality made the day memorable. Highly recommend his tour.
Alex was informative, friendly and very interesting and knowledgeable. Gave us a very interesting overview of Innsbruck and its history.
Loved, loved, loved our tour!! It was our family vacation (ages 13,18,18,51 &54). All of us loved our experience! It was a great way to get an overview of such a beautiful place! Highly recommend!
Some interesting fun facts. It was very expensive for what it was. Honestly could have goggled the tour and walked on our own in 30 minutes.
Our tour guide Alex was knowledgeable and friendly. He was also a lot of fun. I would recommend him anytime!
Alexander was amazing. 🤩 he gave us a great introduction to Innsbruck he was entertaining and the time flew 🤩 would recommend to anyone 👍
Alex was a fantastic guide. He was so knowledgeable of this extraordinary place (born and raised here, too!). This is a beautiful gothic city rich in history. I highly recommend this tour. It is worth the money and was so nice to have a guide to ourselves. Thank you Alex!
We had an amazing time. Alex is an absolute joy!!! Don’t hesitate to book this tour with him! He is so passionate about history. He is all that you are looking in a guide and more! PS. Even my 11 year old loved it.
Alex was a fantastic tour guide. He was informative, funny, and thorough with his tour of beautiful Innsbruck! Would definitely recommend this walking tour.
Our tour thru Innsbruck was guided by a man who loves his city, its history, its contributions, its issues and its beauty-everything that a visitor would need to know to really have an idea of the place. He had a great sense of humor and walked us thru everything we could get to in a couple of hours. He provided the context for where Innsbruck stood in early and modern Austria. I wish we could have spent even more time walking around the city with him.
Alex provided a very enjoyable and informative tour. With his knowledge on Innsbruck history we were able to spend the entire next day with a true appreciation of the town, museums and food.
This was a great introduction to the city history, culture, and places of great interest. We had arrived by plane earlier in the day and it was a very pleasant walk through the gardens, narrow historical streets and current events. Alex is an incredibly cordial and informed native who guides you with a fun and informative narrative of the town. It made it easy on subsequent days to return to places of particular interest, dinners and exercise. Put it as the first event on your stay in this charming city.
Alex was a very pleasant and knowledgeable guide and fun to be with. He was a local and was therefore able to provide historical and cultural information.
We spent a day in Innsbruck on our own before taking our walking tour of Innsbruck with our local tour guide Alexander. Alexander connected all the dots of the sites we had seen and still others that we had no idea existed! He was an encyclopedia of information and a very personable tour guide. In two hours we were mesmerized by the over 800 years of history that we were presented with. The walking tour was casual and informative. I would recommend that anyone visiting Innsbruck start with one of these private, walking history tours.
As a Travel Advisor with 30+ years experience, I found Alexander to be a responsive and flexible guide, he did a city orientation tour of Innsbruck for my clients, as well as a full day trip visiting the Kings Castles which was customized to their specific interests. This rating covers both my side of finding him easy to work with, and their side of reporting back an enjoyable experience!
The vernacular train and cable cars are a special treat. At the top of the Tyrol Alps one can see several countries on a clear day. Love this place.
Absolutely amazing tour!’ The tour guide had extensive knowledge of the history and so many other interesting facts. He only does small groups and is so attentive and answered all of our questions. We learned so much about beautiful Innsbruck and other areas to visit during our stay. Absolutely recommend doing this tour!!
We had a slight mix up and were a little late for our tour, but our guide Alexander waited for us, and gave us a great intro to Innsbruck and the oldtown area.
Alex was an exceptional tour guide. Having his undivided attention, showing us intricate details that one could easily miss and really immersing us in both Innsbruck’s and Austria’s history was a treat. I highly recommend this, plus loved the walking exercise.
Alex was a great guide - he showed us around, told us a lot of history and modern day facts and stories and gave us some good recommendations. We had a great time and would recommend this tour!
Beautiful town but very fantastic old buildings, clean, nice people who lives over there but lesser choices for foods.
Alex made Innsbruck even more beautiful and interesting for us. He has a huge fund of information and history, and it felt like he tailored the tour to our particular interests. He was also great at suggestions for places he had figured out we would enjoy. We would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to make the most of their time in Innsbruck. It made so much difference to understand the history of Innsbruck and Tyrol.
Not a tour, but using Rick Steves guidebook. My sister and I had a wonderful time. We enoyed the views everwhere. Absolutely, would go again and stay longer!
Alex was fantastic! Personable and very knowledgeable. A exceptional guide! Highly recommend, we loved our tour!
We had our own private tour of historical Innsbruck. Alexander was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. He was at our hotel early to greet us when we arrived for hotel checkin, waited patiently as we got checked in and settled, and spent a lot of time showing us the highlights and explaining the history of the town, despite some rain.
Innsbruck is the most beautiful city in Austria surrounded by the Alps. it has much to experience like skiing places and having fun around. food is awesome and varied.
What a gorgeously beautiful city, surrounded by the Alps, so fresh, clean and upmarket. This is the most iconic town I have ever visited. It's full of history and packed with restaurants and hotels
Beautiful city on the Austrian zip line, which really surprised me for the beautiful and picturesque. The historic center with its typical houses and beautiful streets is quite a sight. Worth knowing
Innsbruck is a beautiful city nestled between the Karwendel Mountains and the Tux Alps. The special charm of the city is underlined by the colorful houses, the many young people – typical of a student town – and the cozy cafes and restaurants. There are also countless cultural and leisure activities, from museums to mountain sports. I was particularly impressed by Maria-Theresien-Straße with its numerous shops, the beautiful facades and the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. A perfect destination for culture and nature lovers!
Innsbruck is always worth a trip, has a lot to offer, excursions into the beautiful mountains with fantastic views, culture, great restaurants, history etc.
