Great service and location, but the building is old and prone to noise. There is virtually no soundproofing, so conversations from the hallway echo loudly into the rooms. On the plus side, the breakfast is decent, the staff provides excellent service, and the location is convenient—very close to the Argentina border crossing/entrance point.
Igor and Rafael assisted me and they were exceptional, for elderly persons my strong suggestion is to offer rooms closer to the lobby rather than far away. I really enjoyed the hammocks, l am a hammock fanatic. The food decent, but with so much food l lost my appetite, one day l sort of force myself to eat, the worst feeling since l could finish the whole plate and l detest food waste as there are millions of people that go hungry. I explained that to Rafael. Igor walked me to my room, l am 69 years and have some impediments. Overall, the huge hallways were very attractive and the surroundings. O.
There were two positives about this hotel - one was it's location in relation to the Falls and Bird Park. Secondly the breakfast buffet was well provisioned with a good selection of food. However, the bedroom was very disappointing. The room decor is very dated and the bathroom needs modernisation. There were lots of small ants crawling over the bathroom every day and we had to clean them off every time we went in there. We understand this hotel is the oldest in FOS so that might explain the lack of modernisation. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. When we asked for a kettle we were told the hotel did not have any but we could buy tea or coffee from the restaurant !!! Also there was no iron and ironing table in the room. The hotel was very noisy with guests shouting in the corridor and banging doors at 2am disturbing our sleep every night. The hotel management needs to address this lack of respect by guests who have no consideration for other guests. Overall a very disappointing experience in relation to the room and noise. This is certainly not a 4 star hotel - 3 star would be more accurate.
Not a 4* hotel. Arrived around 10pm on the first day. We were hungry and needed food. Asked if there was room service, the reply was 'just hamburger'. When we got to the room there was a full menu not just hamburgers. So they said it was ok to have buffet food in the restaurant, this was 10:15 pm. By the time we got to the restaurant we had 10min to eat before having to finish getting food. We felt very rushed. When I tried to order room service on other days because we speak english the receptionist would hang the phone up because of this. Even though signage in the hotel is also in English. So one would think they accommodate English speaking guests. Some of the staff seemed rude too because we speak English. On the first day we had to change rooms because of the bed. It was sagging and uncomfortable. Cups in the room but no spoons, glasses or coffee/tea replenished. Would not book this hotel again very disappointed. Also, the tour operator in the hotel tried to rip us off with the excursion to the Argentina side of Iguacu falls. She told us it was MANDATORY for a guide because it was difficult. She also quoted us total price of rs1080 for guide, transport and entrance. You do not need a guide. And we managed to do the trip for under rs500. Will not stay at this hotel again and will not recommend.
