We had the most amazing day exploring Luxor, and I honestly can’t recommend this tour enough! From start to finish, everything was so well organised, and we felt completely looked after throughout the entire day. Our guide, Khalil, was lovely, incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about Egyptian history. He brought every site to life with his stories and explanations, answering all our questions with patience and detail. You could tell he really loves what he does, and that enthusiasm made the experience even more enjoyable. He also made sure we were comfortable at all times, keeping us shaded when it was hot, offering water breaks, and giving us time to explore at our own pace. We visited some truly breathtaking places, the Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple, and Hatshepsut Temple were definite highlights. Each stop felt perfectly timed, never rushed, and we were able to take in the history and atmosphere without feeling hurried. We also got the chance to ride on a Felucca down the river Nile which was an experience in itself. A big thank you also to our driver, Assem Abu Zeid, who was so kind and professional. The journey to and from our hotel was smooth and comfortable, and we always felt completely safe in his care. Both drivers were courteous and friendly, and everything ran like clockwork. Overall, it was such a memorable and enjoyable day, one of the best experiences we’ve had during our trip to Egypt. If you’re thinking about booking a Luxor day tour, don’t hesitate, and if you can, ask for Khalil and Assem. They made the day truly special!

Itinerary
private Pick up from Makadi hotel at 05:00 am by air-conditioned taxi and arrive Luxor at around 09.30 am. You will cross the Nile to visit some of the most spectacular highlights of Luxor's fabled West Bank during which you will explore with your own private tour guide The Valley of the Kings Valley of the Kings: The final resting place of Egypt's rulers from the 18th to 20th dynasty, it is home to tombs including the great pharaoh Ramses II and boy pharaoh Tutankhamen. he tombs were well stocked with all the material goods a ruler might need in the next world. Most of the decoration inside the tombs still well preserved.
The Temple of Hatshepsut Hatshepsut Temple: It is one of the most beautiful & best preserved of all of the temples of Ancient Egypt. The temple was built on three levels with two wide ramps in a central position joining the levels together.
The Colossi of Memnon. Two massive stone statues of king Amenhotep III are the only remains of a complete mortuary temple. The statues are made from blocks of quartzite sandstone which exist in Cairo then moved 700 KM to Luxor The Temple of Karnak - the largest ancient religious site known anywhere in the world - followed by An hour tour with a traditional Horse Carriage during the late afternoon - the perfect way to relax while watching the traditional Egyptian daily life.
Karnak temple Karnak Temple: No site in Egypt is more impressive than Karnak. It is the largest temple complex ever built by man and represents the combined achievement of many generations of ancient builders and pharaohs. The Temple of Karnak is actually three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples situated on 247 acres of land. If you finish early there might be some time for some shopping for souvenirs in Luxor's vast souq or, if you prefer, take a little time to wander by yourself around central Luxor. Finally, at 5.30pm, you will be picked up by your private car which will take you back to Makadi where you will return to your hotel by 9 pm. Should you wish to make any changes to the itinerary - such as visiting Luxor Temple instead of Karnak or spending more time in the souq - we will be happy to make suitable arrangements where possible.

We had a fantastic private day trip to Luxor from Makadi Bay. Our driver, Ismael, was not only kind, friendly, and professional but also shared interesting information along the way, making the journey even more enjoyable. He waited for us patiently at each stop and ensured we returned safely - the trip would not have been the same without him! Our tour guide Mustafa, was very knowledgeable and provided plenty of fascinating insights at each site, bringing the history of Luxor to life. The tour was well-organised, and we never felt rushed. A pleasant addition to the experience was the lovely lunch with great views, giving us a chance to relax and take in the surroundings. Overall, it was a well-planned and memorable trip, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
It was a great day, the sights are beautiful and our guide Naama was patient with us, gave us enough time to see everything and accomodated to our needs.
We had a wonderful trip to luxor. The day before we got several text messages from the company requesting our passport details for the transfer between the check points. It is quite a long drive from Makadi, it took 4.5 hours, Collection at 5:20am and we arrived around 10:00am. We had 1 half way stop in both directions for 15 minutes where there were toilets which you needed to tip with coins to use and there are refreshments also - they did try to rip off on the price so it good to have an amount in mind before approaching the till. (We were charged 150 for two packets of crisps which we managed to get down to 40 which is the normal shop price) We collected the tour guide in luxor and then went to the Valley of the Kings first. The trip did not include Tutankhamun's tomb which you have to pay extra for if you would like to see it. We then travelled to temple of Hatshepsut which was facinating. We were then taken to a pottery shop where they were carving rocks. We were given a demonstration and then invited to buy things. The Famous Bazars are just the shops by the attractions for any keen shoppers. We then went for lunch which was a buffet and quite tasty. The toilet facilities here were not the best, they are much better at the attractions. We then paid the extra charge to go on a short boat ride across the Nile. We finally ended the tour at the Temple of Karnak which was very impressive. We dropped the guide off and went for a long drive back to Makadi Bay.
Hoda, our very inspiring guide had an incredible knowledge of Egyptian history, the Pharaos and all their gods and she managed to explain it so that we could really understand everything ( and it’s a lot of information). I want to come back and do the Nobel’s tombs next time. It’s all so fascinating! Thank you for an unforgettable day in Luxor
This was an excellent and memorable (probably once in a life time) excursion. The private minibus turned up bang on 05:30 and the 4 hour journey through the Red Sea Hills was comfortable. We met Abdul the tour guide in Luxor and he was an absolute gentleman and entertaining and knowledgeable company. It was hot and we were wilting by the end so the length of the day was just right. There is so much to see in Luxor it is difficult to do it justice but I think we did well. The trip across the Nile by boat was a great touch. Buffet lunch was good. It would be nice if you could pay by card, it’s a lot of money to carry around.
Fabulous trip, great drivers. We were picked up from makadi bay at about 3am. We had a mini bus to ourselves. we had two drivers. We went through a lot of check points on the way with no problem,. At Luxor we met our guide Haman Hamdy, he was friendly and so informative, an absolute expert egyptologist. He explained everything so well, and answered our many questions. We had a brilliant day and Hamam was an absolutely brilliant guide. He was so kind and caring, and understood that I was feeling sick, and didnt want to go on the felucca, as it was windy and rough on the Nile. We couldnt have wished for a better day out.
Nice tour. We had Hami as our guide. Hami is a very friendly and a knowledgeable guide. He manages the time very carefully, so that you are able to see all the highlights of Luxor.
I and my friends decided to booked a day to luxor after we looked to many websites. We decided to go with marsa alam tours due the reviews and price....we really enjoyed the way to luxor the driver was amazing. Everything was excellent. Can't thank them enough.
Excellent trip with Hoda around Luxor - she was flexible to our needs and tailored her style to balance speed, jokes, photography with history! Pick up was prompt and the vehicle comfortable. Be mindful that there are Egyptian con men on every turn. Bring water and something warm for the mornings if travelling in winter.
We had a lovely day during our private day trip to luxor. Our driver Hassam brought is safely to luxor from Makadi Bay and told is a few things on the way. When we arrived at the Karnak Temples, we meet our guide for the day, Naama. She was so friendly and her English is perfect. She knows so much about the history and the stories behind the different places we visited. Naama and Hassam made our visit to Luxor amazing!
First of all the communication with the trip organizer via WhatsApp went very well. Our driver picked us (almost) punctual with a decently comfortable sedan and drove us safely to Luxor. Our guide Mohi, a Luxor local was very knowledgable, caring and very kind. The trip was organised based on our wishes and considering the least crowed times at the sites. We visited Hatsheptsut temple, the valley of kings (3 tombs), colosses of Mamnon and made a small stop at a Alabaster factory (as we asked for it. In the end we did not buy anything but was a very positive experience, not pushy at all, good explanations and little demonstration). After a great lunch at a place for locals next to the Nile (No comparison to our 5 star all inclusive hotel buffet or the touristic place of another agency. Food was exceptionally good!) we took a very relaxed Felucca trip (avoid the motorboats, noisy and polluting air and water) with some delicious complementary local mango. After the impressive grande finale at Karnak we paid the trip (no pre payment required) said goodbye to our amazing guide and our driver brought us again safely back home. And while other companies asked a rediciouls amount of money (most probably to pay all those middle mans) the price seemed very resonable to us. A big THANK YOU! Highly recommended!
We had a very nice experience. Our tour guide, Hamy, gave us a lot of information and was really nice and polite. Also appreciated that he spoke english very well. We loved that we were able to slightly modify the standard tour to tailor it to our needs and what we wanted to see. I would definitely recommend , especially if you enjoy a tour in small group (we were just 2) , not a big buss full with 20 other people. The transportation from the hotel and back was with a small minibus with air conditioning and 2 drivers (again, we were just 2 persons), with lots of room and we were also able to sleep for a part of the trip. Lunch was included, and really good in a small local restaurant. We were not able to eat everything, as it was too much for us.
We had a wonderful trip to Luxor with Marsa Alam tours. Reservation went smoothly using email and whatsapp. Our driver came on time, he was very polite and caring. We were met in Luxor by our guide Hoda. I already knew her excellent reviews which are completely accurate. She is really informative, intelligent, very nice overall and importantly, very organised so we managed to see all the amazing places and finish on time. The lunch in the restaurant was the best meal we had for one week Egypt. We had a great and happy day! Recommended!
Overall experience was amazing! Easy and fast booking through whatsapp, we booked one day before and all was arranged. Driver from private car took us from hotel and back on time and safe. And our tour guide was Khalil, great guy, very friendly, very good english, and he knows all about the sights we visited, taking time to explain all details. And price was better compared to order similar companies. Highly recommended!!
Amazing experience about Egypt history With excellent knowledge tour guide lady Hoda I’m recommending you fully this trip included great service as driving and food
This is my third visit to Egypt, and I had never been to Luxor before, so before we flew - we booked our trips with Marsa Alam Tours. They messaged me the day before, confirming our time of pick up (5:30am) and were greeted on time by two drivers. It's around 4 hours in the mini van, and our drivers stopped half way to get breakfast and we stretched our legs, avoiding the sellers inside trying to sell scarves (you also had to pay to use the toilet). Continuing our journey, we drove down to Qena and through to Luxor, and our driver was very knowledgeable about places to see and explaining certain sites along the way. In Luxor, we were greeted by Hassam, who was a brilliant guide and spoke excellent English. We saw the Karnak temple, Luxor temple, drove a motor boat along the Nile, had a buffet lunch (you just pay for your drink, which was around £2), saw the Colossi of Menmon, Valley of the Kings and Queen Hatsheput's temple, alongside visiting an Alabaster shop who were all nice and not pushy - we even got a free coke/sprite from them! We visited at the beginning of September and it was incredibly hot, remember to bring a hat, suncream, lots of water and I took a shawl to cover my shoulders from getting burned. Hassam was an amazing guide, with lots of information about each place we visited. It's amazing to see the ancient history come to life. In the valley of the kings, a tip is to not pay for the 300LE photo passes, as in the three tombs we visited - as we were only a couple and not a big group - the guard inside would take our phone to take photos of us and allow us into places that big groups don't go, such as standing inside where the sarcophagus was or clambering over fences into different rooms. Pay him 50LE afterwards and he was happy. We left Luxor around 15:30 and began our journey back to Makadi and we stopped at the same place that we stopped at on the way. However, this time, the van broke down and we were left sat in the roadside cafe whilst people tried to fix it. The people there were very accommodating and friendly, especially as they were now off of work and eating their dinner. After two hours or so, a mechanic who was visiting the cafe managed to fix the van luckily! We arrived back to our hotel around 9pm. We had booked Cairo and the desert safari with Marsa Alam Tours also, however my partner was ill on those days, but the tour company was very accommodating and allowed us to receive our money back for the Cairo trip. We will now be returning to Egypt to do Cairo and the desert safari, and we will book with Marsa Alam Tours again.
Our Driver Sameh arrived on time and we had many discussions on the trip to Luxor. We stopped to pick up our personal guide Hares who was the most interesting, informative, funny and kind man throughout the whole day. Always making sure we were both ok and understood everything he was telling us. We visited Karnak temple and then Luxor temple (we added this as wanted to do everything) crossed the Nile by boat whilst Sameh drove over to meet us after lunch which was a buffet, you only pay for drinks then, with free water provided all day. Visit to papyrus shop was very interesting as they demonstrate how paper is made and you're under no obligation to buy as you are at the Alabaster store. Valley of the Kings is followed by a stop at the Colossi of Memnon. We finished with a trip on a felucca boat down the Nile(extra cost) and it was the perfect end to the perfect tour. We were both sad to say goodbye to the wonderful Hares as he had made our day the best ever. Not to forget Sameh who then got us safely back to our hotel in Makadi Bay in time to have dinner. Thank you Marsa Alam Tours and Ahmed for made booking so easy. Will definitely use again next time in Egypt. Adam & Sarah
We had great service with good communication prior to our trip and calls from Ahmed at the beginning and end of the day to ensure we were happy and had enjoyed our trip. Our driver was good and our guide Hoda whom we met in Luxor was so knowledgeable and gave us choices on what we wanted to do. We upgraded the felucca on the day to have lunch on it and we were surprised to have our own private felucca trip. Brilliant day, highly recommend.
We had wonderful time in Luxor, visiting Karnak, Kings Valley and Hatshepsut temple. Thanks to egyptologist Ahmed Shawaky for interesing explanations about these sites and history of Egypt! Thanks also our drivers to Alaa and Ramadan for taking us safely from Hurghada to Luxor and back. Safety was a bit of concern due to bombing in Giza just day before our trip, but we felt that Luxor was an easy-going city and perfectly safe. Big thanks to Ahmed Khalil for organizing this wonderful private tour for our family!
We had booked 2 days from Makadi in private vehicle with Francophone guide for the visit of Luxor complete and the baptism in hot air balloon on their website live with Youmna our correspondent of the agency. On the first day the guide who welcomes us speaks almost no French and no explanation during the visits of the temples and the organization of the day is non-existent... We call the agency at the end of the first visit in the morning to inform them of the problem of our dissatisfaction and that we want to change guide for the next day because we go to the valley of kings at the temple and the colossuses. The agency was very responsive, confused excuses and provided us with an EXCEPTIONAL guide who is a Francophone speaker called Farrage whom we thank in particular. Explanations and a fantastic visit that makes you forget the day before. The sightseeing is with great detail this is a science well and it is adorable. We were also fortunate to have an EXTRAORDINARY driver Asim Abu Zaid super kind professional and compassionate. He also reiterated an apology for the first day and upon returning from the visits he offered us ice cream and chips for the ride. We have an excellent memory of our excursion to Luxor despite this first day and we will make the excursion to Cairo with this same travel agency in 2 days because the error is human. Thanks to Youmna, Farrage and Asim Abu Zaid. HAPPY NEW YEAR
We left at 5h from our hotel towards Luxor in a mini van. We found our guide Ahmed directly on the spot. The visits were very good, well explained. We were able to do everything we had planned.
Thanks to the guide Walid and the driver for the wonderful day they made everything perfect. Departure from Marsa Alam resort.
We drove privately as a family and were picked up on time at the hotel. The two drivers were very friendly and made sure that we were always well! In Luxor our perfectly German speaking tour guide joined in and made sure that we had a great day both in terms of content and sympathy and flexibility. For me it was important that I could pay for the tour by credit card. I also found it very good that you have WhatsApp contact. Special requests, such as the pick-up time, were easily taken into account. Thank you for everything!
Day trip to Luxor from Makadi Bay. Booking the day trip and communication in advance went well. The van was nice and on time at the hotel. The day trip itself went fine. All beautiful things seen serve the program stood. Guide and driver were also good. Lunch also, prepared on the spot by cook also a vegetarian lunch for one of us. You have to take into account that the price of the soft drink at lunch is on the high side, European prices. Everything else fine, a super day.
Quick and efficient visit to the most beautiful sites of Luxor Thanks to Audette for our care , humor and good humor
