We are having a wonderful stay at this hotel. The atmosphere is welcoming, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff (service, animation, reception etc.) are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Food is very good. A lovely place to relax and enjoy the holiday!

The Hotel is very good and very high quality. The room, the pool, everything is very clean. The good was excellent and I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The animation Team was amazing and very funny, they do a great job!
We stayed in this resort as part of our Honeymoon and it was amazing. The staff were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and always on hand for anything we could possibly need! The place was for adults only so had a certain calm to it with minimal noise and made for relaxation. Massage bay directly on the beach with a view that was pulled straight from the advert Food was impeccable, the options were endless but what stood out was that despite having a ton of variety they were all cooked fresh, everything was piping hot and delicious Entertainment was brilliant, and just the right amount of "interactive", if you wanted to enjoy it without being pulled onto the dancefloor you can do so comfortably, but if you desired to jump in and dance you can (despite your abilities) Overall one of the best locations I have been to in my life and would highly recommend this as a normal get away OR for something bigger like a honeymoon or anniversary!
We stayed at the Steigenberger Alaya for one week, and if you are looking for rest and relaxation, this hotel is highly recommended. The service and staff were outstanding. The entire resort and our room were very well maintained and very clean — you can clearly see that a lot of effort goes into keeping everything in great condition. The food was of very high quality with a wide variety of options. Gluten-free and vegan choices were also available. The waiters were very attentive, and at the pool they took drink orders every 30 minutes and served them directly to the sunbeds. The staff acted very professionally at all times. The animation team had a great sense of whether guests wanted to be active or simply relax. After just one or two times asking, they already knew our preferences. There is also a reef directly at the hotel which is perfect for snorkeling. With a bit of luck, you can even spot turtles. It’s worth noting that there are no shopping facilities in the surrounding area, and the options are limited to a single shop inside the hotel, which is a bit expensive. However, there are several excursion options available, which we found reasonably priced. We will definitely come back again for another vacation.
It was a hit and a miss for us. Our 10 stay here was booked months in advance and paid for days before arrival. We were snowed in Amsterdam. Our flight was delayed because of the bad weather. We informed the hotel well in advance but we received little to no understanding of this unforeseen circumstances which were completely out of our control. Long story short, it took us 2 days to get to the resort. We flew to Hurghada instead as the next available flight to Marsa Alam with our chosen airline was 4 days later, where we took a 3 hour taxi ride. We lost 2 days of our all inclusive accommodation. The staff were inconsistent. Some days we were met with a smile other days we were puzzled by their unfriendly stand-offish ways. We booked 6 massages, 2 facials and a hair colour between my husband and myself. 1 out of my 3 massages was good. My facial left several bruises and a puffy bruised eye. Racco the Asian restaurant delivered old tough tasteless duck, hard rice and tasteless chewy massamam curry. I found a stone in my dessert. Fortunately I am a cautious eater and managed not to chip my tooth. Regretfully the room photographs are not true to what you get. The beach is not swimmable at all. Sad truth, the resort has little to offer by way of snorkeling. Some positives, the resort grounds are well maintained and the foyer is visually stunning. The main restaurant has a good selection but if you stay for more than a week it becomes repetitive. There is an over abundance of pools, but note that only the swim up pools are heated. Swimming is possible at the neighbouring Coraya resort but don't expect to be made to feel welcome. The live music was just an earache apart from our last night where a tasteful flutest played lovely modern renditions. Sadly, we will return home unfulfilled and tired. This was by no means a restorative holiday of good food and relaxing spa treatments.
