Alva Hotel By Royal

We stayed in the deluxe twin room with buffet breakfast for 2 weeks. The room was in decent size and quiet. It took about 15 minute walk to the nearby shopping plaza, MTR station. The hotel also offer a shuttle bus service to the nearby MTR station and Shatin Town Plaza which was very convenient. We would give 5 stars to the exceptional services at the buffet breakfast. Dick, the assistant manager always had the sincere smile. He was very friendly, polite and helpful. He worked extra miles and very professional. We liked him a lot. Yee (宜）worked very hard at the egg and dim sum station. We felt Yee looked after the busiest station among all. Tina and other staff at the buffet breakfast all worked very hard to keep the place in good order. The breakfast choices are okay. Quality of food can be improved. However, we really enjoyed the service there. The housekeeping staff also did a good job. We would definitely return to this hotel again.

Definitely not a 5-star hotel but it’s a good 4-star. We stayed for a night only and everything was good. Clean, well equipped, good customer service on the few interactions we had. Nice swimming pool and gym. Only downside was the lack of an international socket or adapter. That said, there’s a vending machine on the G/F selling lots of useful gadgets including adapters.

Trying to be as fair as possible here. Firstly location is quite remote and I spent a lot on Ubers sightseeing but the upside is that it’s very quiet and soundproofed well and I slept really well. Large comfy bed and cozy duvet. Bathroom has everything you need, although I always prefer having a bath. A mirror close to the windows would be useful as the bathroom can be quite dark. Overall sleep and comfort was good but let down by hospitality- or lack of it. I actually quite like a “hands off” approach and you’ll definitely get that here, but some staff at the front desk are just rude and miserable. You definitely don’t get a five star welcome or five star advice/support at all during your stay (or at least, I, as a middle aged British female didn’t). The breakfast isn’t great - mix of mostly Western with a few Asian dishes but hardly any choice of eggs and it was pretty much the same every day. A lot of the dishes are cold and plates aren’t kept warm. Scrambled eggs are overly rich, creamy and sickening. Would’ve been nice to see more Asian dishes and fresh fish/seafood options. Overall a comfortable stay but not a memorable one.

We had a wonderful stay at Alva Hotel during Chinese New Year. I would especially like to thank the cleaner on the 21st floor, 萍姐, for her outstanding service. She was incredibly polite and greeted us warmly every day, which truly made us feel at home. Our room was always spotless, and her attention to detail was excellent. She was also very kind and helpful - even assisting me with my luggage to the lift during checkout. She is a fantastic member of staff and a real credit to the hotel. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant. I would really love to seeing her again during our stay in the coming summer holiday.
