We thoroughly enjoyed this tour, we selected the lunchtime option, because I didn't want us sitting in the sun on the coconut boats. Our chef Trang came and met us at our hotel and kept us updated about the tour bus coming to collect us. The start did go off a bit rocky, due to another member in the group. But by keeping my distance, I was able to enjoy myself.

This was an amazing experience which both myself and my husband really enjoyed. We will be trying out these recipes again back home. Brilliant chef/tour guide ...a very informative and hands on experience. Recommended.
What a amazing tour guide Hai we had. Communicated well shared lots of history took us to the top spots we had the best time making rice pancakes at a local family restaurant. Hoi a very pretty place with humble people even with the missed places from the flooding. Would highly recommend Tai.
Lots of fun and lots to see. Cooking class was great and food tasted wonderful. The market tour was ok as was the boat ride.
We really enjoyed this entire tour. The market part was very informative and interesting. The boats were fun, and the cooking part was amazing and very efficient and well organized. We really enjoyed the cooking class and learned a lot and had so much fun the entire time. Food was delicious too. We highly recommend this tour when in the hoi an area!
What an incredible experience!! Absolutely loved every second of it. We were fetched from our hotel, strolled through a market and bought ingredients for the cooking class later. We then did the coconut boats and had so much fun doing that. The cooking class was also really amazing! Linh was our guide and she was lovely.
Had a great time! Cooking was really fun and food was very tasty! Coconut boats were a fun addition and learning about the foods in the markets was very good!
Cooked four tasty dishes next to the coconut boats with very helpful head chef 👨🍳 Very fun and learnt how to cook lots of new food
We did a tour on coconut basket boat, it was an amazing experience, the boatman was very kind and took a lot of photo from us. We highly recommend this experience.
10/10 would recommend the tour to everyone! Our local guide Anh was absolutely incredible. She taught us loads of interesting things inside the market. Our coconut boat ride was lovely and the cooking class was so much fun. We made 4 delicious dishes and Anh showed us each step brilliantly before letting us make our own. We also got sent all the recipes we made which is always appreciated. Lots of fun and would definitely recommend.
That was so awesome!! I had the best time & the ladies who took us were great to take us around. We got lots of great photos & had a fun time.
Me and my wife really liked this trip, the guide Anna was very nice. The boat trip was fun, slightly touristy but I was good. The cooking class was really good and we learned how to cook a number of Vietnamese dishes.
We had the best time with Anna. She was really friendly, the activities were fun and her English is superb. Very well organised and would highly recommend.
This tour was very much worth it! Our guide, Hung was very informative and entertaining. We started at the local market to learn about ingredients and produce that is used for cooking Vietnamese food. When then we’re shuttled to a local fishing village to meet the locals and take a ride on a basket boat for 30 mins. We ended with a class in making Vietnamese pancakes, spring rolls, stir fried chicken, papaya salad and morning glory. My wife and I enjoyed the meals very much and I would recommend this to anyone looking for an authentic experience.
Mo was very knowledgeable and is an excellent teacher. We enjoyed spending the day with her! I appreciate the efficiency and support during the cooking process! I can't wait to try the recipes back home. Oh and crab fishing was definitely a highlight!
Where to begin. It was a fantastic afternoon spent. Picked up and dropped off at the hotel which was very convenient. Mr Cú was such a funny and entertaining host. We started off at the market, being shown all local ingredients and got to taste a few things along the way. It was wonderful! Then we went on to the Basket Boat trip (after an unexpected serving of delicious tea and a coconut snack). The fisherman who steered then little circular boats were so cheerful and endearing. You couldn't help but admire their efforts and enthusiasm for their jobs. We had a great 'driver' on the boat who spun us round and made us laugh so much. Then on to the cooking class section of the trip. The place was set up properly and organised so well. We were split into groups with a leader each. Mr Cú's wife and cousin were leading the other groups. They were all super friendly and helpful. You get to chop, slice, prepare and cook several dishes. The whole activity was super fun, insightful and entertaining. Everything was so delicious and at the end you all get to sit down for dinner and savour all your hard work. Yum! We loved Mr Cús humour, his passion and his ethos of also helping contribute to towards the community with disabilities by employing staff members with communication difficulties on the back of his personal journey of bringing up his eldest son who has cerebral palsy. You can feel the heart and passion from the entire family working together to provide this wonderful experience and service. It was very moving. We enjoyed our day immensely and I can't recommend this highly enough. I personally want to thank Mr Cú (sorry if i am not using the correct lettering) personally for being such a brilliant host and beautiful spirit. It was so much more enjoyable and fun and memorable than I could've imagined it to be. Loved it!
We had a brilliant guide, Mo who guided us around the markets and the took us through four recipes which were yummy. The bamboo boating was fun as well. Top tip: book the morning tour as the markets are less busy and also the food we cooked makes a nice lunch.
Cooking class was very fun! Good food and Anne was great. The boat was also a really cool experience along with the market, worth booking.
Absolutely fantastic, from pick up to drop off.... The cookery class was incredible, I'm a shockingly bad cook, but my food was delicious 😁😁😁 And then the ride in the bambo village was just fantastic, such a great happy vibe, singing smiling, fun fun fun, lived it.. I'm a solo traveller so dont be put off about taking part in this activity, it's a great experience. Thank you for such a wonderful day, one I will remember 😘
Such a interesting and fun tour. Loved going to see the markets. The coconuts riding was fun too. There is fun music when u go into the middle of the river. Our tour guide Anna was so good! She had really good tips when doing the cooking class. Made such yummy food
Thao was very friendly and nice! I learned a lot about Vietnamese food in only a few hours and I met great people:) Would highly recommend!
This was an excellent experience. What I loved most was the cooking class and visiting the market. Anna, our guide, was exceptional. She had so much information to share and her cooking skills were fantastic. I loved being able to experience ancient methods to make rice paper for our rice papà we rolls. We had children age 12 & 14 who also learned and loved it too. Thanks Anna
Highly recommend a cooking tour with Hoi an Cooking school (Ba Tran). Tour of the market was interesting and informative followed by a mad coconut boat trip followed by an afternoon of cookery class. Delicious food and cold beers! Highly recommend 👍
I really enjoyed the whole experience! Everything was great fun and I would recommend doing this tour. Ngoc Anh was the chef helping us and her English was very good and she was very helpful and patient! She took us to the local markets to buy all our ingredients and explained all the different foods which are used in Vietnamese cooking. We made our own fresh rice paper, then made rice paper rolls out of our rice paper! We cooked Vietnamese rice pancake and enjoyed watching how to make pho noodle with beef and sweet mung bean soup with coconut milk! All the dishes tasted amazing and it was a really great experience. The basket boats were really good fun also! Highly recommend.
Great day out, really enjoyed the market tour, basket boats , and the cooking lesson was excellent! Highly recommend 👍🏻
It was more fun than I expected. I enjoyed walking around the market, as the chef guided us through the various sales areas with a quick and easy pace. I did not expect much from the basket boat tour, but I was pleasantly surprised by the good mood of the boatwomen (boatmen) , the crowded boats and music, which is not an easy experience. The cooking class was also delicious and enjoyable under the chef's crisp guidance, including making rice milk with a stone mortar. I am very satisfied.
A great half day, with a tour around a market explaining the produce and what they use it for, followed by a great basket boat ride to the cooking class. The cooking class was excellent - very hands on and a feast at the end! Thank you so much!
The cooking course was really nice, with different varieties, but starting a bit too early; starting to eat at around 4pm, we'd recommend not to have lunch before since there are a lot of portions. The chef was really friendly and helpful. She added some extra explanations of the ingredients during our walk in the market. I put 4/5 stars because the boat tour was personally a pure tourist attraction. If you don't mind a river with overcrowded boats, loud music, and people dancing and singing in the boat, then you might enjoy it. In the end it was a place with several stops during the ride where tips were expected. I would have done the cooking course anyhow, but you shouldn't have high expectations for the boat ride.
Annie was an amazing guide navigating through the markets and sharing all her knowledge in exotic fruits and vegetables. The boat tour was fun, but being able to eat the delicious food you cooked yourself was certainly the highlight of the experience. Would recommend everyone who's trying to immerse themselves into the Vietnamese culture.
Market tour was interesting. Basket boats were fun to do. Cooking class was great the food we made was amazing, kids (teens) even enjoyed the day!
Anna was so lovely and very helpful throughout the tour. The market was very interesting, gaining an insight into different fruits and vegetables that we would later cook with! The basket boats were so much fun and we had a turn of spinning as well as crab fishing. After the boats we began the cooking class which was very enjoyable! We all had a chance to chop different vegetables and make rice sheets - cooking it all from scratch. Definitely recommend!
Amazing experience and value for money. Was taken on a tour through the wet markets to gather ingredients, then went on a basket boat ride which took around 40 mins. They can spin you around fast for a small fee/tip which I recommend. Then you proceed back to the kitchen which is located on a balcony with fans so not too hot. And you cook 4 course meal and beer and other beverages are available for purchase. The tour guides are also extremely friendly and informative. Highly recommend.
Really enjoyable cooking tour. The chef ,& the guide who brought us to the markets were excellent. The basket boat was a fun tourist thing to do ,once, pretty crowded on the river but I guess that’s how they work.Overall, can definitely recommend
Wonderful tour. If you want to experience the market, the river and Vietnamese cooking, I highly recommend. Our guide Anh was very friendly, helpful and took amazing pictures for all the tour guests. The cooking class is great even for beginners. I have dietary restrictions and they were very accomodating. Took beef and chicken out and gave me my own bowl for mixing seafood-based ingredients.
Ngoc and her team showed us an amazing time, food is great. Market portion and boat fishing is a great touch also. Can't suggest enough, a must do in Hoi'an.
Good value tour. We were a group of 6 who booked this tour. We were picked up by Anh up at our hotel at 8am in the morning and we were taken to the markets to see all the fresh produce. This was a great introduction to all the fish/seafood/fruit and veg on offer. Then off on a boat ride to our cooking school. . When we arrived, we all went in pairs onto round bamboo boats with a guide to go crab fishing. Our guide was brilliant, she rowed and sang all the time, very energetic and fun. After the bamboo boat ride, we went to the cooking school . Great introduction to Vietnamese cooking, we were all cooked and ate our 5 course meal. Lovely way to spend the morning. We also received a recipe book of the meals that we prepared. Anh was the perfect guide. Great morning out, definately a must if you are visiting.
We loved the experience of the tour today. Well put together, a lot of fun getting on the river and the cooking class was great! Cant wait to cook the dishes back home. Thank you Ngoc and Tinh!!
WE LOVED THIS DAY! It started off with an on time pick up at our hotel. We loved our guide that showed us around the market, filled us with knowledge of the local people and market. We then hopped on a boat and took a nice trip on the river. We arrived at the coco nut boats and that was a highlight. We enjoyed boating down the river with a local that was joyful and singing and just a lot of fun. We learned to fish and tried to catch some crabs. Then we went to our location for the cooking class. Everything was so organised and they even had a vegetarian option. The food was delicious and they were so patient when teaching us. We could not wait to eat each dish and we went home with the cook book of what we made. We finished off with being dropped off at our hotel with a happy and full stomach. A CLASS WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER, thank you for the fun, good food and experience.
Our guide Spring was fantastic. Really helpful and knowledgeable. Was not sure what to expect but they organised the day really well. Got picked up at 8am then finished and droped off at 2 pm.
We booked this eco tour and cooking class through recommendations from a few friends and it's safe to say we were not disappointed! We were picked up from our hostel and taken to the beginning of the market with our guide Anh, her English was perfect and she was extremely knowledgeable about Hoi An, answering any questions we had perfectly and adding information here and then for example when we were on the short boat ride to the basket boats. We had a lovely day and the food tasted incredible- we were even given a recipe book at the end with all the recipes of what we had made! Thank you very much Eco Tours and Anh for an incredible and truly cultural experience !
Good tour and absolutely delicious food- some of the best I've had in Vietnam! And my tour guide Ms Pearl was really nice too!
The boatman will take a lot of pictures. The wind was nice, but the blast music here and there was a little surreal.
A fantastic day in the company of MrQ and his family. An excellent and very fun cook. Sensational and hearty food.
It was fantastic! From the moment she picked us up there was a relaxed Mood. We started at the market where Anh could tell us a lot about the products. Then a trip in the boat was very nice and fun that she took a lot of pictures. During cooking it was super diverse. We made 4 dishes that were all totally different and super tasty. Highly recommended to book this tour
Countryside bike tour was amazing!! From hotel on the bike and cycled along the rice fields. Been to an eco village where we had a great experience of sowing. Then back on the bike through the beautiful landscape to the basket boats. Finally, a delicious lunch!
It was so funny, friendly and helpful. I give you a recipe book. Great. Why don't you go? Go ahead. It's such a special experience! If you give me a tip, fill it up. Keep going to Grandma's level.
The marketplace was so fun. The friendly description of the ingredients and the feeling of the local market was so good. The coconut bar was too hot and not very fun, but the cooking lessons were just as fun. English is also easy to use.
Booked the tour and cooking class for two. After being picked up at the hostel we went to the central market of Hoian where we got some tips on ingredients. Afterwards we went with a small ship to the coconut forests, where we drove around with the basket boats for some time. Then came the real highlight, the cooking class. This one was really a lot of fun. Our cooking teacherein Hang has guided us excellently and gave very good tips for recooking. We were able to recook everything ourselves and in the end everything tasted excellent. Hang has also responded very well to needs such as allergies, vegetarians etc. and has taken everything into account. At the end there was a little booklet with the recipes. I don't see what could be improved about the cooking class. We have p.P. 650,000 VND paid, whereby I learned from another participant that he paid 575,000 VND for the cooking class alone (without boat tour and market visit). The boat tour I would find recth unspectacular and you could do without it if you are under time pressure, but for the small surcharge you can also join the part of the tour. But I would recommend the cooking course without further ado.
