Had a great time with Sam. Climbing the mountain and riding the bike in the field: )

The tour operator organised it well, prompt and friendly and ensured we had a good time despite language difficulties
Our extremely friendly guide had the patience of a saint as our children really struggled with the heat and moaned a LOT! That said, he taught us a huge amount about buddism and confuscianism, as well as the early Cham people. He paced the tour really well, allowing us to travel at our own pace and stop for ice-cream along the way. The lunch at Trang Que was fantastic - very tasty and they made sure it suited our dietary needs (no seafood). Our guide explained about all the fruits and vegetables, which was great for a gardener such as myself. The highlight of the day, was climbing about the water buffalo and going for a ride... a real memory! I would definitely recommend using this tour operator!
My husband and I booked with Sam based on his ratings, and this tour turned out to be the best part of our stay in Hoi An!! Sam was kind, attentive, and super knowledgeable. His tour was carefully planned but also tailored to us based on our mobility and curiosity. We learned a lot about the history of Hoi An and Vietnam, climbed to the top of Marble Mountain through caverns and holes, and were lucky enough to see actual monkeys on Monkey Mountain! The visit to see the buffalo was fun and lunch was delicious. On top of that, he was always ready to answer our questions regardless of the topic, and was a picture-taking pro. We cannot recommend Sam highly enough!
Great tour, saw a lot of cool sights in only half a day! Lunch was excellent. Tour was on the expensive side compared with others but the reviews all sounded so good we had to book it. We never got to ride any water buffalo so my partner was disappointed about that. Tour guide was great - very knowledgeable, and happy to stop as requested so we could take photos. Was good to get out and see lots of different places we wouldn’t have otherwise known to go!
Went on this trip a few days ago with my wife & small child—it did not disappoint! Sam was an attentive, kind & informative tour guide throughout. We were picked up on time from our hotel & whisked off by a great driver in a comfortable van with great air conditioning. The different sites were explored & explained well, but Sam also left us to explore at our own pace which was appreciated. Our daughter especially loved Sam giving her bananas to feed the monkeys, too. Everything during our tours was flexible & any request met. Following the Marble Mountain tour we were met with a surprise—in the form of a local buffalo called Luke who offered a quick meeting & ride. Definitely a highlight of the trip! The experience ended with a lovely meal at a restaurant—the menu was set & everything was fresh & delicious in a beautiful setting. If you are looking for a great trip to do around Hoi An I would highly recommend this trip! You won’t be disappointed.
We did the half day Marble Mountain and Monkey Mountain tour last week. We absolutely loved it, after being picked up from our resort we headed for Danang and Monkey Mountain and endless views of Danang and the surrounding coastline. Then a short drive back to Marble Mountain for a great tour and exploring some caves. But the the thrill was a buffalo ride before a fantastic local lunch. Great driver and tour guide made an enjoyable tour.
Our guide Ly was very considerate- changed the order of the day to take the hot weather into account, spending time to get the great views for my photographer husband etc This tour provided more than we expected and was great value for money, Ly provided lots of local knowledge and fun- thanks! Would definitely recommend.
A day that has a bit of everything : - some great sights (female Buddha, marble caves, da nang seafront/skyline) - some great wildlife spotting (monkey, bats, frogs, water buffalo) - some culture & history thrown in (pagodas, Buddhist history) - and finished off with a great lunch Have to say though, riding the water buffalo what a treat!! Our guide Be & Te our driver were great fun throughout the trip - we won’t forgot the ants in the bamboo for while (haha) A relatively early start (07:30), but worth it to get ahead of the crowd at the larger sights Sam’s Tours also very flexible and helped us move tour dates without ANY fuss (THANKS SAM) Would definitely recommend to get out of the busy Hoi An streets for a good few hours and enjoy some Vietnamese culture, cuisine......and a ride on buffalo!!!
Great half day getaway and our guide Viet was excellent. He was very good at gauging our interest and everyone’s ability to climb the steps and caves. Kept us on schedule without feeling rushed. The lunch next to the herb farm was probably the best we had in all of Hoi An!
Sam was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable and great at telling stories and answering questions. The whole trip was great but the marble mountains particularly are really spectacular. We both agreed this was the best thing we did on our trip! Thanks Sam 😊
This tour was far and away one of our favorites in Vietnam, in large part due to our amazing guide Linh! She was informative and funny, and made the trip so memorable for us. The places we visited also were breath-taking and the food we had for lunch was delicious. I would highly recommend this tour, you won't regret it!
amazing views inside the mountain....quite unique.......was quite busy when we went and some parts were a little challenging and slippery and one had to be careful when walking,climbing...but a really fun day!
This was one of the best trips on our three week holiday to Vietnam. Sam was polite, professional and spoke very good English. He was very knowledgeable and informative and showed us things that many other tour guides were nit showing their customers e.g the mountain drum and the demon in the cave. Pick up was on time. Lunch was excellent and the Pagoda and Marble Mountains were outstanding. I recommend you book this trip with Uncle Sam's Tours. Great value and a great trip. And yes.....we saw wild monkeys on the mountain.
Sam and his driver picked us up and it was just the two of us all day. It was such a surprise, as we were still expecting a small group. Sam was very knowledgeable and the way he conducted and organised his tour was very well done. It wasn't rushed, we were left to do sightseeing on our own as well. And the lunch that was organised was so yummy and the view was divine. Definitely recommend Uncle Sam!
Thank you Sam for the great day, everything went like clockwork and my partner and I had a awesome time. Can't recommend this tour enough to anyone, it was just the two of us when we went. Sam has excellent knowledge of the area and Vietnam life. Lunch was also excellent and well worth the price alone.
Our guide Sam was excellent and very informative and we had only 5 in our group, the attention to detail and the knowledge he had of the area certainly was a bonus, the caves, pagodas and statues were breathtaking . A must see if in Hoi An
My partner and I went on this tour with Sam today. It was incredible! Sam was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable and spoke incredible English. All of the destinations we went to were beautiful, and the family meal was lovely 😀 could not recommend this tour more!
I sell marble slabs so thought this would be an interesting tour to check out. They were on time to collect us in a comfortable van for the trip to Da Nang. We had quite a few steps to climb up the mountain but there is a lift for those that find it hard. It was raining but we made the best of it. Also went to monkey mountain where we saw a lovely pagoda with lots of large bonsai trees and a big pagoda. We had lunch at a little place with a lovely fresh herb garden outside. The food was wonderful and local, and there was so much that we were successfuly satisfied afterwards. There was an opportunity to ride a water buffalo, we just took photos. All in all a calm way to spend half a day with Viet our tour guide.
My partner and I went on this tour on December 24 with Sam. Luckily for us, we were the only ones on the tour so we had our own private tour. Sam was great! He was enthusiastic, engaging and open to answering any questions we had about the places we visited and about Vietnam in general. The Marble Mountain was beautiful - great views and lots to see. The Linh Ung pagoda was also beautiful as well as monkey mountain. Visiting the farm area and riding the water buffalo in Hoi An was also a great way to discover how the locals live and work in that area. Finally, Sam was so accommodating to us, even changing the order of the itinerary so that we could be picked up in Hoi An and dropped off in Da Nang so we didn’t have to pay for a taxi to transfer us to our new hotel for that evening. Sam was knowledgeable, friendly and spoke English very well. I would definitely recommend taking a tour with this small but well organized and passionate company!
We had an amazing morning with Be who was an enthusiastic, knowledgeable tour guide. We first marvelled at the sight of the Lady Buddha and Be managed to spot some monkeys for us to see! The Marble Mountain was wonderful and Be explained a lot about the history of the caves. We then rode a water buffalo which was an awesome experience before exploring the herb farms at vegetable village where we had a delicious lunch. There is a lot packed in to this half-day tour which (unlike some other tours) stays true to its time! The tour covers a lot but does not at all feel rushed! Would highly recommend!
We had a wonderful time during our tour. The sights themselves are amazing and you really feel that Sam put a lot of effort into making sure that we have the best possible experience. I highly recommend this tour and company for a trip in Hoi An!
We went to the marble mountains when we had hired a private car from Hue to Hoi An Luckily we just managed to reach here before they shut down for the day We took the lift only one way as we were quite late I found it quite interesting the entire hill with it's caves, pagodas, natural beauty and the view that it had to offer One can easily spend upto half a day here.. We had to do a quick tour as it was getting dark
What a fantastic experience with a knowledgeable guide who went out his way to ensure that we were happy. Great transport and perfectly planned outing which wasn’t too short or too long and ensured that you saw EVERYTHING! Thanks once again, we really appreciated your hospitality!
We had a great morning with Que who was very informative and did an awesome job of taking our group on the tour and answering all of our questions and making sure we stayed hydrated! The tour had many beautiful sights and ended with a delicious lunch in a local village - there was so much food we felt bad to waste but couldn’t fit in another bite. Thanks for a great day
This is possibly the best tour I have been on, ever. It was a fantastic day visiting monkey mountain and marble mountain with our tour guid Quy (pronounced 'We')! Hotel pickup was punctual and the drive was pleasant and easy. Quy was great company - very knowledgeable and friendly. He was happy to answer all the questions we asked and his English was fantastic! Feeding the monkeys a backpack full of bananas provided a whole holiday's worth of laughs, and the sites we visited were beautiful and very interesting as we learned the history of buddha and Vietnam back in the day. A short walk around the local farms and a ride on the water buffalo led to a beautiful 5-course lunch at a local family-owned restaurant which was probably some of the best food we've had in vietnam so far. The atmosphere was great and all in all I would highly reccomend this tour. 5 stars out of 5!!!
This tour with Sam was so much more than advertised. It was organized, on time, and filled with stories and history by Sam! Marble Mountain is beautiful and can only be fully appreciated with the narrative Sam provides. Monkey Mountain is a very special place for the people of this region and should not be missed. Lunch was delicious and who ever dreamed of riding a water buffalo! I will be recommending this tour to friends.
Marble mountain was stunning! It was great to see the natural caves, pagoda, Buddha’s and wonders of the world. The view at the top was worth it!! We got to feed monkeys and visit the lady Buddha statue that is sits on the top of the mountain (which can be seen from Da Nang beach). Sam was a great host - friendly, informative and could speak fluent English and Spanish. Excellent! A++++
My husband and I had such an awesome experience with this tour! Sang and Te were extremely entertaining, articulate and knowledgeable. The half day tour, not only highlighted such things that the everyday tourist wants to see, such as temples, statues and the like, but also took you behind the scenes into some of their country’s culture. I think the water buffalo meeting and ride, and the lunch with a local family was definitely the highlight of our tour. Thanks again to Sang and Te. We hope you make it to Oz again!
Best tour ever, Linh was amazing, very good English, enthusiast and knowledgeable. Above and beyond what we expected, we loved everything
We had to change our plans and had a day to spend in Hoi An. As we already explored the city we decided to look for something around. The guys replied within minutes (although it was already 6 pm the day before the tour) and we were able to arrange it. On the next day it was very well organized - pick up from the hotel, very clean and well maintained van. During the trip you are able to see the best of Da Nang Budha statue, Monkey mountains and the Marble mountains. It was full of surprises as well, especially the lunch organized in a local farm and riding a buffalo. Overall amazing experience. Highly recommend as well the knowledgebal guide (Quy), who not only made an excellent introduction to the sites, as well answered all our questions!
Our guide (pronounced as ‘we’) was the best guide we have had. His knowledge of the places we visited was spot-on and he spoke perfect English which was a bonus! Riding the water buffalo and the amazing lunch was the end to a perfect tour. Not forgetting seeing and feeding the monkeys and learning all about the culture at both Monkey and Marble mountains. All in all, a brilliant trip and I am under no illusion that ‘We’ made it that way!!
Our guide was really a friendly person and we enjoyed talking with her. Normally we don’t really like “tour” thing, but luckily it was only us who participated in this tour on that day! In the tour we were able to see and do many things, totally worth the price. Especially riding on a water buffalo was such a excitement! Thank you!
Wi, our guide, was fantastic to talk too - just filled the day talking about really interesting stuff and found us some monkeys when I heard from a lot of other people on similar tours who did not see any. Would definitely use them for all local tours when I go back to Hoi An.
Really had a great time on this tour and saw the highlights of the region outside of the “old town.” The guide was and we packed heaps into this half day tour. Lunch was great too!!
Our guide picked us up and was chatty and jovial, spoke great English and was a wealth of knowledge for a young man. I was surprised and impressed that it was an intimate tour of just my partner and I, our guide and driver. All throughout the tour to the various places we were given lots of information about the history of each site and how it is used today. Highlight was seeing and feeding the monkeys who came so close. Lunch was lovely, fantastic fresh cuisine, lovely owners. Overall a great day and I would highly recommend this tour when visiting Hoi An.
Wee was our guide; friendly, helpful, with a great mastery of the English language and a delightful sense of humour. Everything was spot on for what was described in the tour outline. We really had a great time and would recommend this company for this tour.
My friend and I had one day in Hoi An so we decided to go with a tour guide and read only good reviews about Uncle Sams Tours... all I can say is that they lived up to the reputation they’ve built. After booking the wrong date, Uncle Sams luckily had an opening for a day earlier, which we gladly accepted. We were lucky enough to have Win as our guide and my goodness is he an intelligent human. Not only was he spitting fact after fact about Vietnam and their culture, but he also knew an immense amount about other parts of the world as well. His English was outstanding. I cannot say enough kind things about him. He was unbelievable to us and we cannot thank him enough. Overall it was one of the best tours we’ve ever been on, let alone in Asia, and Id highly recommend it for anyone. Lastly, the lunch provided catered to our vegetarian needs and was world class. Easily the best veggie spring rolls I have ever had. Over and out.
My Husband and I had the pleasure of doing the Marble Mountains and Monkey Mountains with our tour guide “Win”. This was extremely informative and ran smoothly from start to finish. We were lucky enough to see the Monkeys and were able to feed them by hand. This was only possible due to the local knowledge of our tour guide “Win”. The tour is as advertised, and if anything exceeding our expectations! It is great value for money considering the amount you get to see, do and experience on the trip. Fun day out!
Great half day starting with Lady Buddha, then a look for monkeys before Marble Mountain, buffalo ride and herb garden. Wee was great conversation. Excellent English and provided lots of history and insights on all sites. Lunch at the local restaurant was ridiculously good - and spent with the loveliest local family. It was a hot day but we were kept well refreshed with icy cold water and lovely air conditioned car. With ‘uncle Sam’ also running a laundry pick up service we could even get our laundry picked up the day prior and delivered back to us when we were picked up for the tour ($2 per kilo)... any family travelling with children (mind aged 3, 6 and 12) will know the joys this brings!
Spent a fantastic half day with Uncle Sam’s tour - which included monkey mountain & marble mountain visit, along with water buffalo ride and lunch with local family. Sam is such a great guide - informative and friendly with an endless smile on his face all day. He was wonderful with the children - patient, kind and genuinely interested in knowing more about them and sharing stories of Vietnamese life with them. A couple of other things to mention...Sam speaks both English & Spanish. And his family offers a laundry service at competitive rate
We initially booked the half day tour to see the Monkey and Marble mountains. We were picked up on time and were taken to our first stop! Sam was very knowledgable and was super nice! We learnt a lot about Vietnam and local life as well as the history of the mountains. It was very hot so luckily they provided free water on the tour to hydrate you! After our fab guided tour we were taken to lunch which was very yummy and cooked by a local lady in the countryside. Sam was also a very good photographer and offered to take our photos during the time we were on the tour which has left us with great memories 😊 During lunch we spoke about our afternoon activities and we said we were interested in riding a motorbike in Hoi An. Sam asked if we wanted to go with him and his friend. A few hours after the first tour we went on a second tour. Again they picked us up on time and made sure we felt comfortable and safe! They took us all around the countryside and we seen many locals getting on with their daily lives and even seen the sunset whilst riding. It was the best day we had in Hoi An and it was all thanks to Sam and his friend 😊 We learnt a lot and had lots of fun! Definitely recommend!
We had a great time with Sam on this tour! We were picked up promptly from our hotel and driven out to the Monkey Mountains. We spent a small amount of time looking for the monkeys, and did see some in a tree a few meters from us, but they wouldn't come much closer, and weren't even tempted by the bananas we brought! Don't be discouraged if you don't see any, however, as there is much more to see on the mountain. Sam showed us the Lihn Ung Bai But Pagoda and the gigantic Lady Buddha statue, never hesitating to take pictures for us. We had a great time at the Marble Mountains next and did a lot of hiking, but the views of the ancient statues carved out of the mountain are definitely worth it. Towards the end of the tour we got to visit some local farms and learn about the different types of herbs the farmers grow, and ended the day with a fantastic homemade five course meal at a local's house. We had a great time on our trip. Thanks Sam and team!
This was a really great tour. It was awesome and very educational. The tour guide was really good and spoke english really well! Defiantly would recommend!
A very nice excursion with private guide. The tour was very informative and beautifully designed. The ride on the buffalo was very fun and you noticed that the owner takes very good care of the animal. The only point I didn't like was visiting a shop for marble statues. We were really urged to buy something and I was very uncomfortable saying no. At the end of the tour, our guide was still in a local restaurant and could taste traditional Vietnamese food.
We first visited the Monkey Mountains and Quy, our guide, made us visit the Pagoda with an amazing view and we also managed to v edere the cute monkeys that live free in the wild and also to feed them. Then we continued our journey by visiting the Marble Mountains with a suggestive route into the mountain. After Quy making us a surprise made us live a nice experience by making us take a walk over a buffalo. Finally we had lunch with a Vietnamese family who cooked for us offering us delicious food and delicious drinks. Fantastic day! Highly recommended.
