Highly informative and personalised tour with John around Hoi An, set to the pace we wanted and flexible according to our own interests. John was a font a knowledge and keen to share details of daily life, family and the experience of locals. His English is absolutely top notch, and his energy is joyful. Totally worth the cost for something tailored to our own wishes.
John was an incredible guide for our tour of Hoi An. Very knowledgeable and brought a great energy and conversation. I would highly recommend booking a tour with John and would not hesitate to re-book another tour in future when I return to Hoi An.
Our tour guide John Lee was very easy going and helped make our day memorable. He was able to adjust our tour given the weather, included a great lunch spot based on some of my requests/interests, and even made us a video.
I was meant to be doing the tour with a friend who unfortunately was unwell so I opted to continue alone. I need not have been concerned. John was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and made the morning fun. I would have no hesitation in recommending him and if we had had more time available would have booked other tours with him.
John was an absolutely fantastic guide and made our experience so enjoyable from start to finish! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly easy to understand. What we loved most was that he made sure everything was at our own pace. Whenever we wanted to stop, explore the stalls, or have a closer look at something, John was more than happy to give us the time we needed without ever making us feel rushed. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time, and his relaxed and welcoming approach really made the experience special. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Highly recommend John to anyone looking for a great experience — 5 stars all the way!
We had an awesome old town walking tour. Our guide John was very welcoming, knowledgeable and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed his sense if humor and his willingness to make sure we felt safe and enjoyed the experience.
We had a very nice tour of Hoi An with John. He and his driver picked us up from our Danang hotel for our group of six and it was so convenient to have a driver for the day and a personal tour guide. John was very funny and friendly and the day was just perfect!
Long review ahead as I share my experience from engaging John Lee Tours, not just on the tour per se, but my perspective of John as a person. Please read on if you’re looking for a peace of mind for a tour and a personable professional as a guide! I have heard about John through word of mouth from my colleague and her family who had a positive experience with John, and liaised directly with him to arrange for this tour. Prior to the tour, I had lots of questions to which he patiently and thoroughly addressed my concerns, all while accommodating to my requests and preferences. He never once insisted on his way but offered his personal and professional advice. For example, I enquired about starting the tour in the morning so that my family can return to our hotel to rest early as we had an early start the next day. But John advised that the sun/weather would be less bearable and less comfortable for families (and even thought of our toddler’s naptime!) and advised that a main highlight of the trip is the lantern boat ride that is more enjoyable and memorable at sundown, all while remaining calm, friendly, and still willing to accommodate to our family’s timing and preferences (eg if we still wanted it in the morning). He would also arrange all transportation, logistics, food options, and we don’t have to worry about anything — just leave it to him! So with a peace of mind assured, we decided to proceed as he suggested and I thought he’d arrange another guide for us but the man himself turned out to be our guide! He said that he’s available and wanted to guide us himself — such passion! And consistent with his texts and emojis, he’s so smiley, friendly, and helpful! Throughout the tour, John is thoughtful, patient, accommodating, and adaptive — we are very appreciative of such traits! He even helped carry our toddler’s stroller where necessary, watched over our belongings while we changed her diaper, negotiated with a popular restaurant to allow our stroller to be brought in, and collected on my behalf the engraved chopsticks that I bought from a souvenir stall, which was never on his agenda until I had mentioned that I was looking for something small yet practical as souvenir! He is attentive, patient, observant, and adapts to our needs and preferences during the tour. Finally, John also shares information as we walked around Old Town and takes nice photos and videos, thus creating memories for my family to look back on. Thank you John for your wonderful personality and service! 10/10 would recommend!

Amazing experience. John was an absolute delight to spend the half day walking tour around the old town and the lantern boat tour in the evening. John is professional and passionate about his town/village, yet funny and cheeky made us feel like family, also very helpful in finding us great restaurants to choose from. Highly recommend John Lee services. 🥇🏆
Jonh was Amazing! He was more like a friend then a tour guide! He was laughing and making jokes with us, as well as showing us the old town and telling us all about it. He was so helpful and amazing! I would recommend him to everyone!
John tonight took us on a Hoi An walking tour tonight. He was absolutely amazing. He wasn’t just tour guide, he became our friend cracking jokes. Would recommend him, very professional and gave us the best experience. Finished the night with letting a lantern go on the river and making a wish. Truly an experience I won’t forget.
Had a great time with John, he took my fiance, a friend and I on a street tour in and around hoi an, very knowledgeable, very funny , extremely nice and easy to get on with, I will be definitely recommending John to my family when they come
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ John is the best tour guide in Hoi An. He is very knowledgeable and dependable. English speaking guide with a great personality that’s very accommodating. Tour included the coconut and lantern boat rides, city street tour and taste testing of local cuisines! Definitely recommend booking him when visiting Danang-Hoi An City!
John Lee Tour was an awesome day, we were picked up in private car and escorted around old town Hoi an. The tour was very informative, Lee told us alot about the Vietnam way of life. He was also very friendly. He also helped with some of our shopping. Loved the tour
John was a great guide! Spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable about the history and traditions. He was flexible to stay at areas longer if we wanted to or detour. He gave us suggestions for food places and activities and where to book them. We would highly recommend any tour with John.
This is our first time visiting Vietnam and in particular Hoi An. How lucky were we to have John from John Lee Tours • Quảng Nam as our private tour guide for an afternoon street tour. John has a wealth of knowledge and passion for his home town. His enthusiasm and personality certainly made it an enjoyable experience. John took time to take photos for us many times during the tour so that we would remember the experience. We would highly recommend booking a tour with him when in Hoi An.
John (Hoang) helped guide my family and I through Old Town, Hoi An with great eagerness and enthusiasm. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the history around town and provided great in depth explanations. John also has a great understanding of group dynamics and made sure that each individual is accommodated and included!! I especially appreciate that while there was no "set" time limit, he never pushed us to leave and made sure to explain all the shops and items that my family took the time to browse. I would absolutely recommend John to give your private group an intimate and knowledgeable experience. P.S... As a bit of a "hidden" bonus, John (Hoang) is a local and thus helped members in my group get some "local" prices. It certainly helps when someone speaks the local dialect 😄
We really enjoyed our walking tour of Hoi An with John. His knowledge of the old city and easy going personality was a delight. Highly recommend.
We had a fantastic experience exploring Hoi An with John. He was extremely knowledgeable and explained the history and cultural significance of each place in a very engaging way. He was friendly, patient, and made the entire tour smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hoi An — truly a 5-star experience.
John was nice to talk to, with full of local knowledge, and he can customise his guide well to adjust our likings and condition. My husband was not too well to enjoy so many foods on that day, but John's recommendation was spot on. We recommend anyone who visit Hoi An for the first time to go tour with John. After a couple of hours walking with him, we are confident to explore the town by ourselves more. We will definitely back to the town to do a couple of different activities with him!
My wife and I have just spent two wonderful days in the company of John Lee discovering some of the many delights of his home town of Hoi An. We could not have asked for a better guide to this lovely part of the world. He kept us entertained and informed the whole time and we felt that he genuinely cared about us and that we should have the best time possible. We would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone visiting the area.

John has been the most amazing tour guide for us during our Families time in Hoi An. So far we have booked 3 tours with him and we couldn't be happier. He has been so helpful in designing our trips and has taken all the hassles out it. Being a private tour, it has really felt like we are getting the most out of the time as well. From Coconut Boats to Cooking Classes, and the magical My Son sanctuary to Marble Mountains, John has arranged all the transport in safe clean vehicles, provided icy cold water and made us laugh plenty of times along the way. Not to mention, he is a terrific photographer! John is a wonderful, knowledgeable guide who is so engaging and a joy to be around, he also has amazing English skills as well. John, we can't thank you enough for taking such good care of us.
We had John as our tour guide for our trip in Hoi An. John was excellent company, had a good sense of humour and was genuine with us and made sure we had an excellent time. A very good photographer as well. Thanks so much John we cherished our time with you and fully recommend your services.

John was a fantastic guide. Great English and great local knowledge. I would highly recommend John as a guide in HoiAn. Excellent experience.
My hotel (Cozy An Boutique Hotel) recommended John Lee tours when I was looking to do a bicycle tour around Hoi An. My trip was a solo tour and it took about 3 hours. We cycled through the back streets and lanes and our first stop was on a small river. I went for a ride in a coracle (or coconut boat) and ended up with the paddler doing lots of very fast spins (and doing the Macarena) - lots of fun. After some refreshments we continued on where John explained lots of facts about the rural life of the locals and pointed out many interesting highlights. The next major stop was at the vegetable gardens - a big complex with lots of other tourists visiting. I was shown how they do their plantings for various vegetable and was even given a spade to help dig and water the plants - I think I’ll stick to buying at the supermarket in future. The land is flat and although the weather was very hot it was an easy ride to get around. Overall a very good tour and I saw places I hadn’t seen before (this was my 5th trip to Hoi An). Highly recommend John Lee and this tour.
John was our guide to My Son. He has a great understanding of its history and the Champa kingdom and was able talk us through the culture behind the temples and how they were used. John looked after everything for us and so the outing went very smoothly.
We were in Vietnam in July of 2024. Jon Lee tours was outstanding. The company was very professional in all aspects of our tour. We went to Ba Na Hills. The time we were picked up was at the expected time. Safe driver, very informative, excellent English. As we had a bit of extra time before we were dropped back off we went to a marble factory. Very interesting. Picked up some souvenirs.
We spent a morning with Hoang (John) touring My Son and the Pottery Village in Hoian. Hoang was knowledgeable, funny and engaging and his English is perfect. He organised a clean car with a careful driver and he ensured we had a fun and stress free day. He also took lots of group photos and at the end of the tour provided all the photos and a photo show to us. This ranks up with our best private tours and we highly recommend Hoang.
John was our tour guide for our 5 hour drive from Hoi An to Hue. We visited Marble Mountain and a marble cutting factory. We then travel the scenic coastal road enjoying a break on the way. John speaks fluent English, is personable, very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. He showed a sincere interest in making our journey enjoyable and safe. We will use his services again and recommend him to our friends.
We did tour to My Son temples , we had wonderful experience. John was our tour guide , he was very friendly , funny and informative. Highly recommend John and you will definitely have a great tour .
Highly recommended! John was very informative and knew everything about the places we visited. He was also very helpful during the tour for every need we had. Really worth it!
A professional and friendly guide makes the trip in Vietnam - Hai An interesting and unique! Don’t miss it! I was really impressed
An amazing tour! John explained everything wonderfully and we laughed a lot together. It was a great experience . I can really recommend this tour. Thanks John!
Highly recommend!! John was incredibly friendly and insightful. Much learnt, many laughs had. Incredible experience.
Totally recommend John for a relaxed, warm and friendly solo walking tour of Hoi An Ancient Town. John was very knowledgeable and gave me a very thorough overview of Hoi An history and culture .
I can highly recommend taking the private walking tour of Hoi An, you will find out so much more about Hoi An's history. Our tour guide John spoke very good English and knew many interesting facts about the history of the places we visited such as the Japanese covered bridge, Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, Old house of Tan Ky and Guang Cong's Temple. John also took photos for us to create memories as our tour meandered through Hoi An's beautiful narrow streets. The tour ended with 3 seperate food stops to taste different Vietnamese food favourites, ending with the Vietnamese baguette (Banh mi) so delicious and filling. I think there was a further stop but we were full. As we had ended up about a 20 minutes walk from our hotel, we were taken back to our hotel by taxi to end our trip. Many thanks to John for an enjoyable and interesting walk to see the delights of Hoi An's ancient old town.
