Hoi An people believe that hanging lanterns in front of their house brings luck, happiness, and wealth to the family. To start, you will have a chance to enjoy our herbal tea and listening to the master to talk about the history and the culture of Hoi An Lanterns.... Our Lanterns are made of silk and bamboo and come in many shapes such as lotus, diamond, sunrise, sunset. Covers the complete 11 steps in making your own lantern: Step 1: Attach 12 bamboo stakes together with wire thread Step 2 and 3: Shape the stakes into a sunrise (inverted triangle) or sunset (triangle) formation Step 4: Insert the bamboo stakes into a hanger and secure the stakes with thread Step 5: Select your desired silk and color Step 6: Apply glue and let it dry Step 7: Set silk and stretch the silk to cover the stakes Step 8: Fully cover the sides with silk Step 9: Cover the top and bottom of the hanger with silk strips Step 10: Select a tassel for the lantern base Step 11: Finished! Your lantern can also be folded and stowed in your luggage to be brought home And the master will make one more lantern for you like the special gifts from them at the end of the class.
I would definitely book this experience. It’s a family run business and they are all so kind and passionate about lantern making. They also provided us with so much knowledge about the history of lanterns. They give you delicious tea and our two instructors were an absolutely blast!

We had an amazing time making lanterns with kids aged 8 and 12. The result was beyond what we expected and the staff was so helpful especially with the kids. We really felt supported all the way. I highly recommend to do the full experience - the kids loved bending the bamboo into shape.
This was the best thing we did in Hoi an. There was great music playing, the teachers were so friendly and welcoming and full of laughter. We made our own beautiful lanterns to take home and learnt the history of them. Would highly recommend
This class was great, the staff were lovely and helpful throughout explaining each stage. We really enjoyed making our Lanterns, you could order drinks too, we had a beer each. At the end we purchased lights to go inside and a maker set as a gift, all reasonably priced and we both loved our finished products. Great staff, would highly recommend
A great experience, lots of choices and very fun. The workshop is easy to find and large, and you start with the shape of your lantern, then even bend the bamboo yourself! Free range going through the fabric to decorate

What a great experience! The staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked it to escape the heat but be aware there is no aircon, only massive fans. It was still very enjoyable!
The staff there are lovely and very patient with people who are not particularly good with their hands such as myself and they give you a very history about lantern making in the area it's very good value
This was a fun experience! The family that teaches how to make a lantern from start to finish were friendly, helpful, and fun. I would do it again, and we were able to bring the souvenirs that we made home with us without any issues.

This was a fun experience. The 2-hour option had us making the frame for the lantern before decorating with cloth, adding collars, and choosing a tassel that they attached. They have the process down, so it's fairly easy, but if you make a mistake or your lantern looks a little off, they will help you. The lanterns fold siem but are still a bit bulky, so be prepared to save some space in your luggage to take them home.

We had an amazing time making lanterns. This was a perfect activity for our kids (11 and 13 yo). All the nice people working there were polite, helpful and spoke English quite well, and the lanterns we made were surprisingly beautiful!
We did the two hours lantern making class with Len. He showed us step by step how to make our own latern, choose our pattern and shape. Len was very friendly, patient and we had a great conversation. We also bought DIY kits for our family. Strongly recommend this activity when you visit Hoi An.

Choose the style and size as well as a large selection of colors and fabric designs. Bamboo frame from start to finish with all the materials needed. Help is also available to give instructions & trim up. Left not only with a unique lantern but were gifted with a paper floating candle for the river as well! Friendly staff!

A fun experience, cool unique souvenir to bring home - did the whole lantern making which says takes 2-2.5 hours, but finished in a little over 1 hour, but had a guy helping the whole way 😊 I can recommend it, if you want a fun little experience 😊

This class was so fun! My lantern now hangs in my home. This class advertises a special foldable lantern. I later found that most of these type of lanterns fold in the same manner. That being said I am glad I came to this class in particular because my lantern got special one on one attention as I created it which I especially appreciated since I was going to be traveling with it and I wanted it to be sturdy and have it's best shot at making it home. My instructors gave us a quick run down on the history of the lanterns and all the different shapes, which I feel like I wouldn't have gotten at other lantern making classes I saw. The cost of this class is just fine. There are other classes for cheaper and there are some that are more expensive, so it's whatever is within your budget. At the end of the day I have a really beautiful lantern that I get to tell people I made!!
I did the Hoi An Full Lantern Making Class, and it was such a fun experience. Our instructors, Huy and his brothers and sisters, were all incredibly lovely, patient, and helpful. Huy especially was amazing, I’m definitely not the crafty type, but he made the whole process enjoyable and helped me every step of the way. They taught us about the history of lanterns, which was was fascinating, and creating our own lantern was such a unique experience. We got to choose our own design and were taught how to assemble the lantern, as well as how to properly collapse and reopen it without damaging it. Plus, the playlist was absolutely banger. 10/10 I highly recommend this class!
Our Instructor was energetic, entertaining and best of all a subject matter expert. He helped us and we needed a lot of help lol
Absolutely amazing experience! One of my favorite things I’ve done in Hoi An. The family who runs the business and teaches you are so kind and knowledgeable. They made us laugh the whole time and their expertise shows in every detail. Cannot recommend enough!!

We had a really great time lantern-making here! The staff were super friendly and fun. They helped show us how to make the lanterns but also gave us time and space to enjoy the process and be creative, without being rushed at all. We ended up staying almost 2.5hr as one of our kiddos was really taking her time and it was no problem. At one point, they gave a little history presentation on the lanterns, which was really nice info. I'd highly recommend doing a workshop here!
Very fun experience and you get to go home with an easy to pack decoration as a souvenir or gift. Lots of very friendly and helpful staff that can speak English made it easy to craft a beautiful lantern. The place was full of both individuals and families having a great time. Took about 1.5 hours to do the full/long lantern clasa.
Loved everything at the Lantern class. Very friendly, helpful people. The selection of fabrics were plentiful and the colors beautiful. I stayed and made a 2 nd lantern- and bought kits to make at home . I would 100% recommend. Thanks for a memorable morning.
