Hoi An Countryside Motorbike: Cam Kim Island - Local Villages

Our tour today with John was exceptional we could not be happier. John is a kind, sensitive, intelligent young man who is an absolute gentleman. His knowledge of his town, culture and life in Hoi An and Vietnam is incredible. He is so interesting to listen to and learn from. We very much enjoyed seeing how the locals live and work and enjoyed having a go at all the different activities. We will definitely be coming back and using John as our guide again, we could not recommend him more highly.

Wonderful guide, very nice and helpful with our tour on the scooter. Had a lot of information about the people and their way of life, showed exactly what we had hoped for. Went with my family (3 persons) and we were all incredibly happy with the tour. Experience a 10/10 for sure, in depth explanation about how products were made such as lanterns and rice paper, and we were very happy and bought a few selfmade lanterns in Hoi An, on top of that great landscape of more rural places and must sees! Price - Quality 10/10, would recommend this guide for a pleasant time!

This was a well organised tour seeing some authentic Vietnamese crafts that have been integral to local life for generations and sadly some of which will no longer be there in the future as some of the skilled village workers take-up retirement. This tour tends to be sold as a scooter/car based experience but John Lee was happy to modify to a bicycle tour format allowing some wonderful additions to the standard itinerary. Ultimately our tour was fascinating and lots of fun and because it was so good, for our next holiday to Hoi An, we will be asking John to organise a tour to other local craft villages showcasing different traditional skills using his "Tailor-Made Tours" service. In closing, John Lee Tours has been such a good find for us!

The day we went to the tour was a rainy day, but John customised the tour for us and entertained us through the day. He took us to the old cultural villages and let us try some activities including rice noodle making. Surprisingly, my husband loved fresh rice noodles! Basket boat was super fun even in the rain, and I loved the coffee from the coffee roaster - John remembered that we mentioned coffee when we spoken to him before booking. The tour was fantastic, seeing the local life in Hoi An and how all of the local products are made was amazing. I particularly loved that they let us try our hand at working the crafts that the locals were doing.

Great Experience with John! We went in October 2025 with family (2 kids of 5 and 8 years old) on two tours in the surroundings of Hoi An: first day fishing and coconut forest, second day cycling. We had the most amazing evening on our walking food tour with Hoang! He’s an absolute wealth of knowledge and such a wonderful person to be around. You simply wouldn’t discover the best local food spots without a guide like him to navigate the hidden back streets. We enjoyed five delicious food stops — each one offering something different and truly authentic. The walk through the bustling night markets was full of colour and energy, and to finish the evening, a peaceful boat cruise where we made wishes and released lanterns on the river — such a beautiful, memorable experience. If you’re visiting, don’t miss this tour. Hoang made it unforgettable!

Lanh was our tour guide & we had the very best tour we’ve had in Vietnam so far. We visited Hoi An old town on a walking tour which was very interesting. Went to the pottery village, woodworking, rice paper & noodle making, saw some silk worms & watched the ladies create beautiful pictures from silk thread. We also had a ride in a basket boat. Such a unique experience. Lanh took us to a lovely quiet restaurant for an authentic Vietnamese lunch which was very yummy. Overall it was an excellent tour & Lanh is a wonderful guide.

We had an amazing time and tour with John. He is extremely knowledgeable and provided us with real life experiences. We visited a country vegetable garden, a pottery making class, a noodle making class, a wood carving hands on experience, fishing boat ride and a sumptuous lunch. We also had John takes us to various other places. We highly recommend John for his value for money tours and experiences.

John provided us with a very personalised tour. Cruising on bicycles and chatting through the back blocks of Hoi An is a wonderful way to see and experience Vietnam. His knowledge and conversational tone made it very easy to take in the information he was able to impart. His focus was on us and providing us with the best experience he could possibly provide; he delivered in spades. His goal is to be the best he can be so that we could have the most memorable time. John was a great tour guide with lots of local knowledge, he took us off the beaten track and showed us things that we would never have seen by ourselves. We followed behind him on motor scooters through traffic and along back roads through rice fields visiting local farmers and trades he accommodated everything we asked for. We felt safe on the bikes the whole time and had so much fun. Would definitely recommend

Fantastic tour with an unreal tour guide who explains everything from translating Vietnamese language & explains the culture of the different areas of Vietnam.

John was very confident and his sense of humor +++. Did a Vespa tour with in the country side visiting the villagers and learning about their lifestyle and talents and how they were making their ends meet. Went through a beautiful farm and got to see farmers and vegetation growing there. Must look it up him as your tour agent whenever in Ho An.

This was a really great and interesting tour. We learned a lot about the local people of Hoi An and got to see the beautiful country side. John is a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide and also a Hoi A local. He took the time to make sure our tour was catered for and our needs met. Small and intimate, which was better than doing big tour group tours. This is the way to go, John is the man!

Unfortunately due to getting a flu I was unable to join my motorbike trip with John Lee. With this though he was super easy to deal with and very understanding, he let me change the date and also had excellent communication with me! I will be going on his tours next time I am in Hoi An!!!

This was easily the best tour I’ve ever had, Johnny was knowledgeable, funny and made it all feel very personal. From meeting the locals and seeing how they live to day to day to riding the coconut baskets and learning how to cast nets and ending the day with amazing a Vietnamese dinner, my family and I all agree how incredible it was, we will be coming back to do more tours with Johnny the next time we’re in Hoi An.
