Thanks again for an unforgettable morning and for the souvenir photos! We had a wonderful time, full of new discoveries and shared moments. We were lucky enough to learn how to cook traditional dishes, surrounded by warm, smiling people who shared their knowledge with such simplicity and generosity. The meal was delicious, and we truly enjoyed every moment of this wonderful experience. It is a memory we will cherish for a long time. A huge thank you once again for your hospitality, your kindness, and the wonderful time you shared with us!
We had the best time on our cooking class day. A trip to the local market, a very memorable coconut boat ride with our very enthusiastic paddlers who entertained, and a fab cooking experience. We learnt some key Vietnamese recipes and techniques in a fun and friendly setting and then enjoyed our food with a beer in a lovely relaxed environment. When ready to go we enjoyed a walk through the produce gardens before being taken back to our hotel. Amazing people and experience, really great way to spend a day.
I had a wonderful time at the Mai Home Hoi An cooking class. The day started in the morning with a fascinating tour of the herb garden, where I loved learning the names and seeing what various local plants actually look like up close. When the cooking class began, I got right to work chopping fresh fruits and vegetables, preparing sauces, and sizzled everything up in the pan. I honestly felt like a contestant on MasterChef—it was such a fun and engaging experience! Eating the final dish was the best part; it turned out delicious (huge thanks to the chef, aka me! haha). To top it all off, the session ended with a relaxing coconut oil foot massage. It was a pleasant surprise, but since it was included in the program, I was happy to sit back and enjoy it. The team at Mai Home is incredibly positive, welcoming, and helpful. Our guide, who was also our cooking instructor, spoke excellent English, making the entire class smooth and enjoyable. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Hoi An!
We had a great experience and Hung was such a nice guy and spent time showing us around the garden before preparing the dishes. We had a great time learning from Hung and cooking together. All other staff just as loveley. Great experience and even suprrlised us with free gifts afterwards. Highly reccomend.
I would recommend this cooking class when you’re in Hoi An. The cooking class included several things, a tour around the village, welcome drinks, foot massage and the cooking class. The guides were really nice & friendly as well giving instructions that were easy tk follow. Our food turned out really well and they were really nice to forward us the recipes. Highly recommend cooking the “fish cooked in claypot”, it’s our favourite dish and will definitely cooking this when we’re back home!
This activity was a highlight in our recent visit to Vietnam. I would happily do it again and strongly recommend it. Hung was an incredible host, providing seamless door-to-door transport and a fascinating look into local life at the market. After a peaceful coconut boat ride through the foliage, complete with some 'catch-and-release' crab fishing and some high-energy boat spinning, we began the real highlight: the cooking. What sets this tour apart is the ability to customise your menu. We chose Rice Pancake with Pork and Mushrooms, Banana Flower Salad with Green Papaya and Green Mango, Fresh Steamed Rice Rolls with Mushroom and Pork, Caramelised Fish cooked in Claypot and Stir Fried Chicken with Lemongrass and Chilli. So delicious! The fish melted in your mouth. The fresh steamed rice paper was so interesting to prepare (and then eat). The stir fry was full of flavour. The salad complemented the dishes. In fact – all the dishes were delicious! Hung was a master multitasker and instructor; under his guidance, we prepared what was honestly one of the best meals of our entire holiday. Highly recommended!
I booked a cooking class and it was a great experience with the local chefs that runs the restaurant. Thuy was a great teacher, all the ingredients are fresh and good quality. At the end we enjoy the food we cooked. I really recommend if you want to have a cooking experience in vietnam!
We loved the cooking class! It was so much fun, lovely guidance and tasteful meals!
We had a fab time doing the cooking class with our two young girls (two and five). The team were very accomodating of young kids and the food was delish!
Such a brilliant day, would highly recommend. Hung and his team were fantastic and so accommodating. We made some lovely dishes and enjoyed learning all about the fresh produce from the market. The boat trip was a huge bonus. Thank you so much.
First Hung picked us up and we went on a banana boat ride through the Water Coconut Forest. It was beautiful and lots of fun. Our enthusiastic boat captains, paddled while singing Vietnamese football songs and made us jewellery out of bamboo leaves. Then Hung took us to the local market, where we shopped for the fruit and veg that we would cook and learnt lots about foods we’d never seen before. Next we were taught how to cook a delicious Vietnamese meal by infinitely patient and knowledgeable local lady chefs. Our 11 year old daughter loved the whole experience and was so proud of the yummy fried spring rolls that she produced. Our food was SO nice and it was great to learn how to create it all as a family. We had such a fun experience and can’t recommend Hung and his team enough. If we came back to Vietnam, we’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.
My hubby and i stumbled upon this place and booked directly. It had a walking garden tour to explain the different herbs used in Vietnamese cooking. Then we cooked the dishes we picked. Our teacher was nice and funny. Taught us well and we could take home the leftovers from our dishes as well as the recipes. If you want to learn and make vietnamese dishes at home, try this experience, away from the usual youtube tutorial for the experience.
Amazing host, very friendly and kind cook. Delicious recipes and a beautiful garden location.
Mai Home cooking class was a fabulous 3 hours. Hung and the team are so friendly, the tour of the organic vegetable area was really interesting and the food we cooked was delicious. All finished off with a massage.
Great experience in this place, cooking some delicious Vietnamese food! I've really spent a great time with Thuy and all the staff 🫶🏼🫶🏼. They were so kind to me and also they give me good instructions about what I was cooking. The journey starts with a delicious drink with lemon basil and then you can learn about the plantation in a garden walk tour. Also, I must say that ingredients are fresh and you will find that portions are generous. If you are on Hoi An, I truly recommend you to do this cooking class. You'll never forget the experience and also people working there. Thank you so much!! (:
We cannot recommend this cooking class enough! We did the 4 hour class, including a tour of their beautiful vegetable garden, an incredible cooking experience using fresh ingredients, and then ending with a relaxing foot message. The cost was 20$ per person, and it was well worth that price. The staff was kind and very generous, and our guide Lulu was magnificent. We were in a group of 6 people, and it was enjoyable getting to know the other people in our group. The atmosphere was incredible, and the food was even better. Do yourself a favor and book this tour, you will not regret it!
Highly recommended! From the boat ride to the market visit and the cooking class, everything was well organised, and the guide was very kind and informative. The cooking class was especially the highlight of our Hoi An trip - the staff were incredibly sweet and efficient, and they made sure we fully enjoyed the experience. The vegetable village where we enjoyed beautiful scenic views was also really lovely. It was great to explore areas outside the Old Town.
My husband and I visited Maihomehoian as part of a countryside tour which included dinner. We were very apprehensive about trying Vietnamese food, but needn't have been. The food was absolutely lovely. Our guide had rang ahead and asked for a few changes to the menu to suit our requirements, and these were done happily. Its a bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit if staying in hoi an. Mai even sent me the recipes to try at home. 10/10.
Today my husband and I wandered deep into the countryside, following quiet pathways through glowing green rice paddies until we arrived at Mai Home Hoi A for a cooking class. Mai Home is a family-run cooking experience in Trà Quế vegetable village, where fresh herbs and produce are grown using traditional methods and turned into authentic local dishes through hands-on classes guided by passionate local chefs. We dressed in traditional shirts and conical hats, toured the beautiful herb gardens, and picked ingredients straight from the soil before learning to cook a full Vietnamese feast. After happily devouring everything we made, we were treated to the dreamiest herbal foot massage overlooking the garden. This was a wonderful way to spend the day in Hoi An.
We had a very good experience. Hung was very knowledgeable and Lulu was a great cooking teacher. The food was really delicious and super fresh, right from the garden outside the cooking school. Absolutely a fantastic way to spend a few hours.
Amazing cooking class! We had the best time today learning how to cook Vietnamese food. The dishes were delicious, couldn't believe we had cooking it ourselves. We had lots of fun during the cooking, the staff were very fun and knowledgeable. Tour around the farm was nice, and massage at the end was the perfect way to finish a fun afternoon. Highly recommend.
We did the Walk-In cooking class that just went for 3 or so hours. As it was raining and we were not keen on a full day this was a perfect option for us. Just message them on WhatsApp the night before and they will give you the details. Thuy and all the ladies were so amazing and we cooked some delicious food. Come with an appetite! Hard work rewarded with a relaxing shoulder and foot massage to finished with!
We did the drop-in cooking class and it was one of the highlights of our time in Hoi An. The class was relaxed, well paced, and genuinely fun. Everything was hands-on, clearly explained, and beautifully organized. We learned how to make several classic Vietnamese dishes and walked away feeling confident we could actually recreate them at home. Huge thanks to Lulu, Hung, Mai, and the rest of the wonderful team. Everyone was warm, patient, and upbeat, and they created a space that felt welcoming from the moment we walked in. It felt less like a tour activity and more like being invited into a kitchen by friends. Highly recommended, even if you’re short on time and just want an authentic cooking experience.
It was a nice experience, a cooking class just for 2 of us. Maybe the coconut boat could be done with more boats, guite boring alone
I did this class with my teenage son and we both loved it. It was just for the two of us, so it felt like a private class. It started with a tour of the vegetable village, and we heard about different herbs and the dishes they are used in. The person running the tour was amazing and it didn't feel touristy and out of a script. The cooking was fun and the food delicious. We also got a free foot massage at the end (at other places, you need to pay extra for that). Highly recommend.
Excellent afternoon of cooking. Lou Lou and her team gave us a fun filled, informative immersive experience in cooking traditional food. Fabulous cooking experience.
We have had a very nice afternoon/evening with our chef LouLou. She brought us to the market first and told a lot about specific Vietnamese herbs and fruit. After that we went to the herb garden in front of the restaurant. The cooking was fun to do and the end result was delicious. Highly recommend this tour
We had so much fun at this cooking class! Our teacher, Four, was very patient with us and made it a really enjoyable experience. The set up is extremely organised and makes for efficient prep and cooking. The food was delicious and there was so much we were really full at the end. All the staff were very friendly and helpful - it was exactly what we were hoping to get out of the day. We’re really glad that we came to Mai Home Hoi An.
Our tour essentially had 3 parts - market, produce & general tour of Hoi An, coconut boat & palms, and actually cooking. All 3 sections were a lot of fun, and added to the experience. On the day we went, every booking (each had 3 to 5 people in each) was essentially a private tour, though I know they can do larger groups (the following day had 2 groups the following day - one of 15 people & the other 25). All of the food we cooked delicious and will be easy for us to replicate at home without having to buy/go searching for weird/exotic ingredients. The staff were excellent - very knowledgeable & charismatic.
Definitely the highlight of our stay in Hoi An. Door to door service, exceptional customer service. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. And the food was amazing! We were able to ale 4 different dishes each and provided with the recipes via email so we can recreate at home. Would absolutely recommend anyone visiting Hoi A take advantage of this great experience.
My 2 teenage kids and myself have a great cooking experience. Best of all, we are able to eat the fruits of our labour- the tasty dishes whipped out under the close guidance and help from the chefs. While my younger kid and hubby rest and relax in the serenity of the farm and often poke around to check on our cooking! It was a truly enjoyable family bonding session!
Not sure about what to do on a rainy day in Hoi An, we decided to book this cooking class. The experience was absolutely worth it, the trip to the market was great and while there Hung made us taste several fruits and vegetables typical of Vietnam, while also providing interesting insights about food culture. We were able to choose 4 dishes each (which I thought was a better option than a fixed menu) and they were all amazing after we cooked them under supportive and extensive guidance. In the end, they also shared the recipes. Overall, amazing experience.
I agree with what everybody said before. 5 stars is not enough for this experience and like the Dutch couple before me, I would give it 10 if I could. Hung and is family are simply the best and I had a total ball yesterday. There was a last minute cancellation, so I was a very, very lucky girl having a private experience. The basket boat trip was very relaxing and shopping for ingredients at the local market was fantastic. Hung pointed out to me which stall sells the best Cao Lau and I went back today to have some for breakfast. He and his family are so welcoming and the cooking knowledge of the ladies as well as their patience and humour was amazing. In short, I had an absolute ball and wish I had some more time in Hoi An to go back and learn to cook the rest of the dishes on the menu. This is deffo a highlight not to be missed ❤️
A wonderful experience—browsing the fresh market, fun cooking class, and enjoying the delicious meal we made. A perfect, cultural way to spend time in Hoi An.
I had THE BEST experience at Hung and Mais Cooking class. I was picked up by hung in the morning who was soo lovely and got to experience the bamboo boat ride, going to the local market to pick up our produce for the meals! It was such an amazing experience Everyone was so hospitable and friendly! There was good array of options for what you were able to cook. It was just me on the day and I had an amazing chef Thuy she was sooo lovely! I would be back in heartbeat!!! 100% recommend to book if you are in hoi an not one to miss! Thank you again!!!
It was a great experience! The coconut boat trip was early at the morning, so very quiet! The trip to the market was very interesting, our guide gave a lot of information, which was really nice! The cooking class also was very interesting and so delicious! The women who helped us were super friendly and we had a great time. Thank you so much!
The cooking class was simple and the dishes were delicious, followed by a garden tour and foot message . Overall a relaxed evening. The Chefs were good in communicating in English
It was incredible. Because our group was so small, the experience felt intimate and engaging. The walk through the local market was excellent, and our guide was both informative and supportive, offering great suggestions for places to explore during our stay.
We had a really lovely experience. There were only two of us in the group which turned out to be excellent. The trip on the river was really fun, we enjoyed shopping at the market and really seeing inside a market used daily by the locals. At the cooking school we were allowed to choose from a list of menu items, and then we were provided with clear instructions and gentle guidance throughout the cooking process. The facilities were excellent. We loved the flexibility provided throughout the day and the tailored information that was given to us. The next day we were sent the recipes so that we can try what we have learnt at home!
I booked this cookery class for myself and my two teenaged children. It was fantastic. We got to choose lots of dishes between us that we wanted to make. The lady teaching us to prepare and cook our meals was great. A fun activity to do, in a beautiful setting and incredible value for money, I would highly recommend this activity!
Mai Home was the highlight of our trip! The market tour was fantastic, the staff were so welcoming, and the fresh produce from the cooking class was impressive. Highly recommended!
The boat ride, market visit, and cooking with Lulu were a highlight for my mum and me. The guide shared useful insights on local ingredients, and Lulu patiently taught us traditional recipes we chose. The food was amazing—thanks to the Mai Home Hoi An team!
I booked this cooking class after I saw some recommendations of FB. Absolutely do not regret this - it was such a nice day! We were with 2 families (friends) - so had a "private cooking class" just for us. All was super easy. We started the day with the basket boat ride, than went to the market - which was super nice and informative. The cooking class itself was well organised and everybody had fun, including the children. All what we have prepared (under supervision of the chefs) was super tasty and we are happy that we got the recipes as well so we can continue our Vietnamese culinary journey even after our return back home. I can only recommend!
Great experience beautiful food great instructors highly recommended cooking tour heaps of information very good English too we did afternoon session one on one
From start to finish this was awesome. The market tour with Mr Hung was very informative. We loved the refreshing welcome drink - so delicious and different to anything I’ve tasted before and then enjoyed the tour through the herb gardens trying some herbs we can’t grow back home. The cooking class was amazing and tasted out of this world, we can’t wait to replicate, hopefully, back home :). The massage at the end was so good. Fantastic day! Thanks Mr Hung and staff.
A wholesome experience in Hoi An, cooking with fresh ingredients surrounded by the serene countryside. Highly recommend!
A group of 17 of us, 4 families, stopped here on a tour to learn to make rice flour pancakes and enjoy a five course meal. Children from 10 to adults were all involved. It was well organised, engaging for all, and in a beautiful setting overlooking the crops of growing vegetables used as ingredients. The food was delicious and the staff were so enthusiastic in response to our questions. It was one of many of our trip highlights and I highly recommend it. I'm looking forward to trying the recipes they emailed us.
Our family had a cooking class here, and we enjoyed it so much! The chefs were nice and kind, and they made the experience so enjoyable for us. The cooking class was very fun and interactive. And most important, the food was local and so so good. We were satiated and happy after eating👍🏼 I recommend Mai home Hoi An! Kind regards Celine from Norway☺️
I had such a lovely time with hung learning about Vietnamese markets, food & cooking. He is a very knowledgeable and friendly fella. The dishes we made were delicious!
