A wonderful authentic experience from start to finish. A beautiful cycle route through the countryside away from other tourists. An easy pace, safe bikes & roads / lanes with really intetesting interactive stops at the homes of rice noodle makers, wood carvers, reed mat makers and jpss stick makers plus a coffee / smoothie stop overlooking the river included together with water throughout. A fun ferry rife back to Hoi An too. Lam, our guide had excellent English and was a very intetesting & informative guide. We were a family of 5 with three teen daughters aged 14,16 & 19 and would not hesitate to recommend. 10/10!!

Very nice experierience with Hana ! She explains all and very good. The tour was very immersive. My kids are realy enjoy the tour with her. She is the best tour guide.
This was our second trip to Hoi an and the second time we have used buddy tours…! I cannot recommend them enough….Buddy tours were so helpful in coordinating our tour especially given it was Tet holiday. Thang was an amazing guide and given she grew up in the villages we were visiting it felt like we were popping into see her neighbours:… one of the highlights was the lady making the mats she was a wonderful, kind, charismatic lady, someone I won’t forget in a while. Thank you Thanh and team what a fantastic day! 💕
Ben was a fantastic guide. He took us around the country side on a fun and memorable trip with both smaller and older kids. He was enthusiastic and very good care of all needs all day long.
Well hosted, personal contacts with Vietnam citizens. The tour was personalized for us based on our needs and ability level in biking as 70 year+ US citizens.
If I could, I would give ten stars. We had an unforgettable experience with Ben. The day was beautiful and the best tour we've had in Vietnam so far. His English was great and we got so much valuable information. The tour was also spontaneously adapted to our needs, which is why we were able to enjoy it to the fullest. If you want to experience something authentic, then book this tour with Local Buddies! Thank you so much for sharing a little bit of your life with us 💟
Such a fantastic experience to see the countryside in Hoi An. To learn how to make rice paper & rice noodles then how to make incense then to learn how to make sleeping mat out of reeds. Then to the coffee brewery & enjoy nice coffee. Explore all the countryside & see so many interesting aspects of Vietnamese culture. Kha was my fantastic tour guide, extremely friendly & very knowledgeable. The driver Long who was great with the 1960s Jeep. The weather was beautiful also. Then enjoyed a delicious meal @ vietnamese restaurant 😋
This was a fun tour to see the local areas. Our guide Kha was really nice! Fun ride even in the wet weather. If something could be better, It would be to make sure everyone was in the same pace. Really fun to visit the local craftsmen and see how things are made. More photo breaks along the ride from place to place could be nice.
We had a fantastic morning with Kha cycling the streets of Cam Kim island visiting some amazing craftsman. Kha was very helpful and provided lots of information about the various places we stopped to visit along with short stops Along the way explaining various plants and fruits. He was funny with his comment “let’s goooooo!” Every time we moved on to a new place. He even took photos and videos of our trip and sent them to us later in the day. Thanks Kha!
Kha is an amazing host. What a day and great experience. He cares so much, we had 4kids and he made us all feel so safe. Great adventure
Kha took us on an incredible cycle tour through the Villages of Cam Kim. We got to try our hand at making rice noodles, incense, mat weaving & wood carving. Kha is a gentle and lovely guide, very enjoyable!
Really fantastic bike trip round hoi an with a honest and genuine informative guide the people we met on the trip made it even better. Would highly recommend this guide and trip exactly the experience we were looking for. Thanks lang for a brilliant time
Excellent tour with Lan as our guide. She was knowledgeable and speaks excellent English. The tour included a visit to the local village and the bike riding was easy and peaceful. 100% recommend!
This tour was truly a highlight for our family. We loved the variety it offered—especially the chance to meet local families and gain a deeper appreciation for their crafts. My husband and I hadn’t been on a bike in years, but we managed just fine—and ended up loving it! Ben and Moc were fantastic hosts. They spoke excellent English and shared such rich knowledge of Vietnamese history. We really enjoyed their company and hope our paths cross again someday. 🇻🇳🇳🇿
Great family experience! Our 3 kids(ages 9-13 years old) really enjoyed getting to meet some local families, the views and learning about the Vietnamese culture with our wonder tour guide, Hannah. Cycling made the tour even more fun! Highly recommend!
Lanh was very informative. Taking us through the local villages and shown how to make rice paper, incense and visiting the local craftsman. I'd totally recommend this bike tour.
This was my second visit to Hoi An, but the first for my family. Wanting to show them a quieter side of Vietnam, I chose this tour and it did not disappoint! Our amazing guide, Kha, met us at our hotel lobby and helped adjust the height of the bikes for each of us. We navigated the bustling and chaotic streets of Hoi An (a thrill in itself!) before crossing scenic bridges to Cam Kim Island. Our first stop was a charming local home, where we tried our hands at making rice papers. The lovely matriarch guided us through the process, making it both interactive and enjoyable. We savored fresh rice noodles sandwiched between grilled rice noodles, a devilishly simple snack, but so delicious. Only after looking back at my old Vietnam pictures did I realize that I had visited the same home back in 2015, so it was such a wonderful surprise to see the family still thriving! Next, we visited an incense-making family in Kim Bong village. My brother-in-law, an incense enthusiast, was delighted and eagerly bought a pack to take home. We then met a lovely elderly couple (ages 68 and 72) who demonstrated their expert mat-weaving skills. Trying it ourselves gave us a deep appreciation for their craft and a heartwarming connection to their way of life. A refreshing coffee stop allowed us to enjoy authentic Vietnamese coffee before continuing. After a brief visit to an artisan creating mother-of-pearl inlays, we took a scenic boat ride across the river back to Old Town. It was the perfect way to end the tour as we took in the contrasting the rustic countryside juxtaposed with the lively energy of Hoi An. A huge shoutout to Kha for making this tour so memorable! His passion, storytelling, and friendly nature made the experience truly special. Along the way, Kha stopped frequently to share interesting facts and snap photos for us. His enthusiasm never wavered, and his signature "Ole" song whenever we set off on our bikes kept the journey lively and fun. If you want a guide who will bring a smile to your face, ask for Kha!
The bicycle tour was amazing. We went through beautiful countryside and small villages. We happened upon a family harvesting peanuts and was invited to harvest some as well as eat a few raw peanuts 😊 We also stopped when Thanh noticed people burning offerings to their ancestors and again allowed to participate. Such a warm and welcoming experience. All in addition to the wonderful scheduled experiences made this tour a highlight! Definitely recommend
We had a wonderful day with Kha that started with an exciting cycle through the Hoi An traffic, as our hotel was a way off from the regular meeting place. Kha’s excellent guidance made this a pleasurable and safe experience as we navigated through the market areas to the country bridges and villages. His cheery nature, English communication skills and curiosity enabled us all to share insights into each other’s cultures and lives. Meeting the genuine village craft people and trying your hand at noodle making, sleeping mat weaving and incense making gave us a true appreciation for their hard work and skills. We stopped at a trendy village cafe to chat and watched a craftsman cutting Mother of Pearl inlay by hand which was mesmerising. It was an honour to meet these older artisans in their home environments. The country scenery , fresh air, cycling and boat ride at the end back to the Old quarter before dinner at a riverside resturant was such fun. We’re so glad you decided to change careers Kha, we feel like we have a friend in Hoi An!
Was not sure what to expect but this was a great day out - exercise and sightseeing all in one. The bikes were all in good condition with new helmets included for safety. There were plenty of stops along the way so we did not feel at all like we had ridden 15kms by the end. And we got to give it a go alongside the locals - making rice noodles, incense and even weaving mats! We finished the day with a boat ride and a very filling lunch. Our guide, Kha, was filled with lots of information about what we were seeing and there were lots of photo opportunities. Kha knew all the best photo stops.
We had the most amazing day cycling around cam Kim island. Our guide Thanh, was very knowledgable and took us to many hidden gems around the island. We visited many local homes and interacted with the local families. The tour was very interactive and we were able to try making inscense sticks, rice noodles and weaving reed mats. The tour gave us a very good insight and understanding of rural Vietnam. This was one of the main highlights of our Vietnam trip. Would highly recommend this tour - especially with Thanh.
Ben was an incredible host! In fact, the best of our tours so far in Vietnam! Knowledgable, easy to talk to and friendly, Ben mapped out a wonderful itinerary through the countryside, an amazing bike ride through the beautiful scenery. We had our two boys with us- aged 12 and 14 and Ben took particular care to make sure they were safe and comfortable riding through the roads- we were safe and well taken care of. If you’re looking for a unique experience and want to be in good hands- this was a great adventure for the family
Bike tour was amazing. Highly recommend. This was the second tour we’ve done on our trip with Thành and both were wonderful. The bike trip takes you through several small shops where you get to see traditional items being made. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
Such a fun and authentic Vietnamese experience! You get to see local villages and support the craftsmen of the area. I would absolutely do it again!
The cycling tour was a ton of fun. We got to visit multiple local villagers and learned how they make their living. Everyone was very friendly and made a great experience!
Thanh is the best tour guide! He made our trip the most memorable experience, it was a beautiful bike ride with some amazing and unique cultural stops. Even with the rain Thanh made the most of it and kept our spirits up.
More than just a bicycle tour, although we did ride about 20km this tour was a total adventure. Thanh and Vinh from Local Buddy Tours were outstanding guides. What I have really enjoyed about Vietnam and primarily Hoi An is the people are so very genuine. Their job is to safely navigate a group of people out of the city and through the countryside on bicycles, essentially. These guys did more than that, imparting the feeling as though you are with a couple of of local friends, just taking a ride. Great stops, the local craft makers with their wooden sculptures and grass mats. The woman who showed us how to make rice noodles on a fire made with the dried rice husks. What an incredible way to spend the day, and fortunately nobody crashed. If you are looking for that extra adventure in Hoi An, check out Local Buddy Tours and ask for Thanh and/or Vinh. Go on the ride of your life.
We really enjoyed the local tour and very beautiful stories, culture and friendly people The tour guide is very helpful and great English speaking as well.
Great trip around local villages on quiet tracks taking in the local culture and lovely scenery finishing with a boat trip back to Hoi An.
All of it!! Seeing the real Vietnam and meeting the people was fabulous Brian was a brilliant guide.
WOW, what a fantastic day. Our guide Lanh was simply amazing. Such a lovely person, great insights and fantastic knowledge. We had a brilliant afternoon tour, exploring parts of Hoi A that are off the beaten track. Stopped off at three different craft places in the various villages and met some wonderful local people. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. All finished off with a drink and boat trip back to the meeting point. My wife and I had the best time.
Thoroughly enjoyed our private bike ride around the Hoi An countryside! Ting was an awesome guide - informative and engaging. Alongside the amazing ride we also got to make and taste our own rice paper creations, try our skills at carpentry and help out with some local mat weaving. Definitely recommend!
Excellent bike tour with John as a guide, who was very knowledgeable. Even though the weather conditions were not the best, we made a great day out of it. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to see the real rural life in Hoi An, meet local craftsmen, bike in the villages and have some nice Vietnamese food in the end. The boat ride in the end was very fun as well.5 out of 5!!!
We very much enjoyed this tour with Local Buddy’s. It was really great to leave the hectic center of Hoi An and enjoy the quiet and beautiful scenery around Hoi An. Ben and his colleague Phuong took great care of us and our kids. We visited some of the local homes to take a look at traditional crafts with the people taking pride in their skills.
We really enjoyed our rural villages bike tour with Carol. She took us on a route that showed nature, away from the busy tourist area. The coffee spot is stunning amongst rice fields. There were plenty of stops and enjoyable conversation with Carol. Thanks for a nice tour.
A return visit to Hoi An after 4 years led us to book 3 tours with Buddy tours and they were all an amazing time. Ben and his staff are all exceptional guides, making it feel as though you're being taken around town by friends rather than tour guides. Their knowledge of the area and it's history is very impressive and they are super friendly. We did the Hai Van pass and marble mountain tour, Ba Na hills tour and the countryside by motorbike tour. I would highly recommend all three of them. A must do in Hoi An.
An amazing day doing the Bike Tour to Hoi An rural villages, our guides Carol and Phuong were fantastic, very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, great to see and meet the locals, plus the best view from a coffee shop we’ve ever seen, lunch was really good, would highly recommend.
An amazingly informative tour guide and drivers. Beautiful lunch spot. We would highly recommend to others.
Our Tour guide Ben was amazing, we drove around the landside with Scooter and got to amazing stuff douring our day. I can highly recommend to go with Ben if you want to have a good experience.
It was anazingggg! Loved ever bit of it. Explored local culture, country side and a very beautiful coffee shop. The tour is fine for beginners also, as I am not an expert rider. Thahn our guide was super helpful and informative. We ended in having an amazing dinner. Worth 💯
We had the best bike ride around Cam Kim island with Lan from Local Buddy Tours. She had excellent local knowledge of the area and was very generous with her time. We enjoyed meeting local people and seeing the beautiful countryside. Will be recommending this tour to our friends and family. Thank you Lan
We absolutely LOVED our cycle ride with Local Buddy Tours. After a week in Vietnam, it was our best day so far. The guide Thanh was very fun, friendly and knowledgeable. The company share their profits with local villagers. The cycle was gorgeous - the itinerary above doesn’t really do the tour justice; you see rice paddies, help local weavers make straw mats, try out rice noodles and pancakes you freshly make with a local villager (even in the non-lunch tour), see a fishing village, visit an ancestral home and a temple for the sea gods, and see much much more. The tour also includes a fresh drink in a beautiful cafe in the middle of a rice paddy. The cycle is easy - it’s about 20km but all flat and on clear paths. You stop often to learn about different crops and customs. Can’t recommend this tour and company enough.
We had a wonderful time with our tour guides, Carol and Ha. It was simply divine to visit Hoi An rural areas in a relaxed way. We visited family that makes crushed rice paper cakes and one that weaves traditional sleeping mat. We had such fun trying ourselves. The girls were eager to share the love of their country and as well eager to learn from you. We stopped at coffee shop Lo Gach Cu. The drinks were delightful as was the conversation with the owner. We opted not to have lunch (included in the tour) but don’t have any doubts that it would be fabulous. Highly recommended!!
We had an amazing day out exploring the rural villages of Vietnam, we received a very warm welcome from Thanh and Carol and enjoyed spending our day with them both. They are both very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions to the local people, we learnt a lot about the Vietnamese culture. It was definitely a highlight of our trip so far and well worth the money. We would highly recommend this trip and knowing some of funds goes to the local families and businesses made the experience more special.
We had a great day with Ben, visiting local villagers by bike and learning about how they make a living. It was really interesting and there was no hard sell which was also great. The scenery and the people were both lovely and Ben was a great guide. We highly recommend this tour to others.
Definitely one of the best tours we've ever done. Thanh and Phuong were such great company that it felt like we were on a day out with friends, not a commercial tour. Thanh is incredibly knowledgeable about the area surrounding Hoi An and at every stop, he helped us to talk directly to the people who lived there. It was also really nice to see proceeds going straight to the local people. A chilled out, enjoyable day finished off with an absolutely delicious meal.
Wow what an incredible experience. A bike ride through a little village to a small Vietnamese island. We rode to the ferry then when we arrived the other end we stopped at a local carpenters sculptural workshop, ship repair yard, whale worship temple with whale bones, touched shy plant, Vietnamese mattress weave making, rice wine making with a singsong about he lost his friend and left leg in the Cambodian war, then onto making our own rice pancakes making, then cycled back to the ferry for lunch. The tour guides went way beyond my expectations. Memories overload.
The trip was perfectly advertised and informative so we knew what to expect. Tour guilds arrived on time. Checked we we safe on the bicycles and off we went. We had the most memorable day of our lives. Absolutely Perfect!! So well organised.
We had the best time with our fun and experienced tour guides. They were punctual and tended to our every need. The tour was just what we needed and expected. We got to see the beautiful Vietnamese culture and do things we normally wouldn't ever do. We met such wonderful and warm people. Highly recommend for everyone.
This was an fabulous tour! Ben was an amazing guide and taught us a lot about Vietnamese culture, made us feel comfortable and safe on the bikes and took us to some really cool places. It was great to see the rice paddies, help a farmer grow vegetables, ride a buffalo, go on a basket boat and lunch and drinks was plentiful and delicious. I will recommend this tour to everybody! Thank you Ben!!
