A great activity. Minh hosted my Mum and I and was absolutely delightful. We enjoyed walking round the market and making the food which was delicious! Thoroughly recommend this activity, one of the best on offer.
This cooking class is a must do on your trip to Hoi An! Before starting our class, we had a tour of the lovely garden and got to participate in planting some spinach. Min, our chef, was absolutely adorable. She quickly made us feel right at home with her beautiful smile and warm personality. We cooked four different dishes which were all super tasty. We left very full and with great memories! This has been a highlight on our trip to Vietnam.
First, our guide Min took us to the local market where we bought all the ingredients for the cooking class. She explained us all the different vegetables fruits and herbs. After our arrival at the cookery her uncle und Min explained us all the steps for farming, where we could also take pictures and videos. A warm foot bath and massage followed. The menu chosen was great. Because we had asked about a local eggplant dish at the market, Min switched part of the fish dish to a delicious vegetarian eggplant dish. Papaya salad was my favourite, but also spring roles, and banh xeo were awesome. Personally I enjoyed the quizzes about the ingredients most, as we learned a lot about how the are used in different meals. Great guide with a lot of humour and knowledge.
Had a fantastic morning with Min going to the market and helping in the garden. What an interesting, brilliant and funny experience. The food we cooked was yummy and can’t wait to try at home. I would definitely recommend this as a must in Hoi An
I went as part of an Intrepid tour group and had a wonderful afternoon with Min and her helpers. Min first took us to a local market to buy fresh produce for our meal, then showed us around the farm next door to the restaurant where more of the fresh produce comes from. We had a fun foot and leg massage before cooking four simple and delicious dishes (spring rolls, salad, fish and pancakes) which we then consumed. All round, a wonderful experience with a sweet and charismatic host. Highly recommended!
With so many cooking classes to choose from in Hoi An, we couldn’t be happier with our choice! Not only was it a private class but it was also a family-owned business. There was a farm tour and great explanations of all the recipes. Everything was delicious too! Don’t miss this experience!
This is the second time we have done a cooking class at Tra Que Vegetable Village. After trying to work out which one to do decided to go to Lemon Basil after being recommended by my friend Vy from past class. It was a great day spent with Jessica and family learning new recipies and being back in the Vegetable Village. So peaceful. The foot massage is what is needed after all the walking we have been doing and great job done by ladies and man. We would highly recommend people to come to lemon basil to do a cooking classas it is done in small groups at various times of the day and very patient with my poor skills. It was as good as our first time
I had a fantastic afternoon at the vegetable village. The place was so beautiful and peaceful and they show you the traditional way of farming in the garden. Uyen was a fantastic guide and taught me a lot about life and culture in Vietnam, which was a great and memorable experience to me. After a visit to a local market, we cooked spring rolls, papaya salad, fish and rice pancakes together. One of my highlights was the bicycle ride through the local rice fields. Overall this was one of the most authentic experiences in Vietnam so far and I strongly recommend it. It is a great opportunity to escape the busy cities and get some fresh air in the beautiful and quiet vegetable and flower gardens.
We had a fun time planting some herbs in the garden, learning about the farm, and then enjoying a massage before cooking some delicious food. I really can't stress enough how Jessica's sense of humor and cleverness made our day really fun - she is a great host!
A very good experience in may ways: Min is a superhost and cook😀. We did farming, visited the local market, had a footmassage and made excellent food! I really recommend this cooking class!
The class was fun, very hands-on and delicious. We learned how to make spring rolls, papaya salad, fish in a clay pot and pancakes and then we ate everything. The teacher spoke good English. We didn’t just watch. We chopped ingredients, cooked them and even flipped our own pancakes. I highly recommend.
We got the pleasure of having Min for the first part of the tour. Although it was Mins first time guiding us through the market, she really did her best to give us information about the local produce. After the visit at the market we went bikeriding through the rice fields which was so nice! The second part of the tour was the cooking class and the farming. There we met up with Jessica. Jessica is wonderfull! She and her sister have a great sense of humor! We laughed so much and had the best time! The food is amazing, fingerlicking good actually!! We could eat their fish clay pot dish and the very crispy springrolls EVERY DAY! 😍 Overall we would highly recommend this class!! Keep up the good work!
Jessica came & meet us at the hotel from Lemon & Basil Cookery & walked with us to the market to buy our local produce to cook. We didn't want to push bike so went in a golf cart to the farm, great fun. Everything was so well organised and the family (Aunties, Uncles etc) made everything a fun experience from working up the ground to trying to water the plants. We came inside had a foot massage, neck, shoulders & head. Then the cooking lesson started. We enjoyed this and sitting down to eat the local produce & what we had managed to cook. It was very hot for us in September but they had fans on & lots to drink if we needed it. Then a ride back to the hotel. Thoroughly recommend a fun, must do activity to do in Hoi An. Thankyou Jessica and family.
Had the most amazing time at the vegetable village. My mum & I did the local markets, bike riding, farming with the family, cooking lesson & foot massage. Half day afternoon tour starting at 1. It was the highlight of my visit to Vietnam. The family that runs this business is nothing short of beautiful. They all have fantastic sense of humours and had us laughing all day. Cooked some super delicious food and learnt some recipes I hope to take home to Australia. I would recommend this to anyone. They also altered the trip itinerary as my mum wasn’t confident riding a bike in busy streets but wanted to give it a go. So we walked to markets then were taking a quiet route to the village and it was perfect for mum.
Loved the cooking class so much! Jessica helped us cook some of the most delicious Vietnamese cuisines and was so passionate to share stories about her culture! The location is fantastic also, just such a quaint environment to cook.
I feel so cooking class very good❤️ The program is very suitable for the time😍 I did so enjoy cookingclass🥰
Had a wonderful start to our Vietnam trip all thanks to our amazing host, Jessica. Our experience with lemon basil cookery was fun, informative and wholesome. The tour starts out in the main market where you get to meet and interact with the locals. We then took the bicycles down the country side road alongside a beautiful scenery of the rice fields. At the cookery, we learned how to plant herbs and had a wonderful foot massage. We made four delicious dishes that were easy and fun to make. Highly recommend this tour to experience the ins and outs of Hoi An.
We had such a good time at Lemon Basil Restaurants cooking class. They were very accommodating with our vegan diet, and Kun was such a fun person to be around. We laughed through the night. Her auntie and uncle were very happy, showing us how to plant and water vegetables, and then we picked fresh vegetables to cook. Some of the ingredients were very neatly preorganized, and therefore we were able to cook 4 amazing dishes in about 2 hours. Every time we cooked one dish, we sat together to enjoy how tasty they were. I'd definitely suggest this cooking tour in Hoi An, and feel free to customize or ask for your special requests, because they're very happy to change everything up. Thank you Kun for all the fun!!
Fantastic and fun tour with JESSICA! We learned a lot about the local farming from Uncle and made some beautifully authentic Vietnamese local dishes. We loved it! Enjoyed the quick little massage as well. If your thinking about a cooking class, this is the one!
This tour provides and excellent look into the cusine and culture of Hoi An! Our tour guide Kun was knowledge and enthusiastic. She did an excellent job of explaining everything from the wonderful ingredients in the vegetatable market to some of the traditional farming methods to the cooking techniques in each of the dishes we made. And of course the food itself was excellent as well. Highly recommended for anyone travelling in the Hoi An region.
Highly recommend this tour! Jessica was our guide for the day who is super lovely and friendly. Sturdy ans safe bicycles were provided for this tour. Went to a small local market first and asked to pick what fruit we wanted for our dessert. Jessica also taught us how to check for good mangosteen - thank you! We picked that and local Hoi An mango for dessert :) Her family farm and restaurant has really nice vibes and you can tell they are trying their best to make it a really enjoyable experience for us. The cooking component was the right amount of hands on/practical time and enough rest time in between to eat each dish. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed all of it. It's a must do!! Thanks Jessica and family.
This was the best cooking class I did in Vietnam! Everything was perfect from the time Jessica picked me up on the bike. I enjoyed going to the market and learning about all the fruits, vegetables, and meats. The farming activity was phenomenal, it felt so authentic and the family were so happy to teach about their organic farm. The food was some of the best I have enjoyed here, I still think about the banana flower salad. If you are looking to book a cooking class in Hoi An, do yourself a favor and book with them. You will get a very genuine and enjoyable experience.
It was an fantastic tour. We enjoyed the bike ride an local marked, where we learned many new things about the local fruits and vegetables. We also liked the little gardening part and the massage afterwards. In the end we cooked 4 dishes, which were really tasty. It was just the two of us, no other people, which was awesome. Thank you very much. We can highly recommend to book this cooking class.
Great time spend with Jessica and her family. Valuable experience, fulfilling our trip to Hoi An. Cooking in small group fantastic food. We started hungry, and end up more satisfied than ever with full belly and huge smile.
We highly recommend cooking classes with Lemon Basil. Jessica is very professional, she explain everything in details. We have a lot of fun but also we got a lot of cooking experience. There were 4 meals.
We had a fabulous time with Jessica and her family, starting with a visit to market to purchase the food we were going to cook. Jessica was wonderful and really helped to make this the most pleasant event throughout. Followed by farming experience and welcomed foot massage. We then cooked the food following Jessica’s instructions, 4 tasty dishes and fruit for dessert. All was filling and tasty with lots of fun throughout the process. We have even been sent the recipes since so we can try them out at home. All in all, one of the highlights of our trip, and would recommend to anyone to book as you will not be disappointed. Thank you Jessica and family.
What a blast! Jessica was a great host and teacher. This class involved riding bikes to the local market for the scoop on buying fresh local produce. Then ride on to the farm to collect the greens & veg. Back to the kitchen for a quick massage & then let the cooking begin! Spring rolls, papaya salad, fish hotpot and savoury pancakes. Eating everything as you go, delicious, informative and just excellent fun. I rate this experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We loved this trip! It was fun to visit the market and find out how to choose the best fruit. They were very accommodating with food allergies and adapted the recipes offered. The farming was eye opening and they were really engaging. I loved the foot massage! The main highlight was cooking which was exciting and Jessica made it really entertaining. The food we cooked was delicious, and kept us going all evening! Highly recommended activity.
We had an amazing cookery class with Jessica! We chose the option to cycle from our hotel, which was through the beautiful rice fields and included a basket boat tour. The scenery was stunning! We also loved seeing the family farm, which is in a lovely organic vegetable village, and trying out our farming skills which have much to be desired! The main highlight though was the food we cooked, which was soooo delicious and some of the best food we have had so far on our trip in Vietnam! We also left with the recipes so we can attempt to make at home for friends & family. Thank you Jessica & family for being so welcoming and friendly, we loved it! Rachel & Ali
Fantastic tour and cooking class! We booked Option 2 from the Lemon Basil website to cycle from Hoi An which was a really great way to start the tour and see local ways and farmland. We cycled first to the coconut forest and had a great ride on one of the basket boats. Would also really recommend going on one when they do the spinning! After the basket boat ride our lovely guide Jessica (who speaks perfect English) took us to the Lemon Basil farm past water buffalos and a shrimp farm. We then had a super interesting and informative guide around the gardens to understand which crops are grown and how, with a quick go at planting some onions ourself. After the garden we had an amazing cooking class with Jessica. We cooked and ate 4 dishes separately, and they were ones that we did not see on all the other cooking classes so it was great to try something new. The sea bass in clay pot was especially delicious! We finished the day with a relaxing foot bath and shoulder and foot massage before Jessica guided us back in to town on the bikes. 10/10 would recommend to anyone! The cooking class is in a beautiful location in the family gardens, absolutely stunning!!
Jessica was a brilliant host. Very personal. Great cooking and lovely setting to cook in , felt very welcoming
My group cycled here from Hội An. It was easy and got to see some nice views of a more rural side of things. The class sat in a beautiful communal farming area of neat little plots. Our hosts were fantastic, very kind and good communicators. We cooked, we ate, and we learned all in a neat little package. The food was delicious despite my lack of cooking skills. I highly recommend an experience with this great Vietnamese family.
The tour was great and the guide was super easy to understand, would highly recommend to anyone visiting Hoi An
One of the best cooking classes that I have taken . Jessica is a delight, knowledgeable and funny. She also privately cook for us in her house next day after we did a Full day Tour in Hoi An
We did farming and cooking with Jessica. Its was an awesome experience, definitely be going back again. Jessica is very accommodating, informative and also gave us some tips on vietnamese dish cooking. Rating all our experience 10/10. A must try in Hoi An.
We spent a fabulous afternoon at Lemon Basil in the hugely enjoyable, entertaining and informative hands of our host, Jessica. After a few fun minutes in their organic garden, we got down to business in the kitchen. Under Jessica's expert guidance we managed to rustle up 4 impressive and extremely delicious dishes.
We last minute booked this cooking class while visiting Hoi An and we’re so glad we did! This is a great small business that offers private cooking classes that are much more personalized than any class run by larger travel companies. Jessica was a knowledgable and friendly tour guide who made the experience memorable from start to finish. The tour was very engaging with lots of activities, including learning how to plant and water herbs from a local farmer. The foot massage was a nice bonus! The cooking portion was also very informative, and we learned how to make several local dishes to Hoi An. We even got a mini lesson on how to carve decorative elements out of carrots and tomatoes! You could tell that Jessica and the team put a lot of thought into every detail of the tour to make it a memorable experience, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
My wife and I went to Tra Que organic vegetable village for a farming and cooking tours in December 2022. Kent- the local guide took us around the garden and showed us many kind of herbs, vegetables and How to grow them by hands and simple tools. Then we had a fun and wonderful cooking tour with Jessica. She showed us how to make some specilities in Hoi An such as rice pan cake, banana blossom salad and so on.We had a wonderful time there. Thanks so much Kent and Jessica.
This a very authentic and private experience where you can really feel what it's like to be locals. You get to do everything from scratch and feel very rewarded at the end when you get to eat something that you made with your own hands. More importantly, the guide (Kent) is one of the best I've encountered, very knowledgable and easy-going, very satisfied. Very recommended to do if you happen to be in Da Nang (or planning to go here just for this class)
COOKING CLASS: Best experience ever, cannot be missed if you are staying in Hoi An! Market / Farm / Massage / Cooking is in our opinion the holy combination for a perfect morning. Family owned business, experienced English speaking teacher and the most lovely people.
We had an awesome experience at Lemon Basil cooking class. The instructor was knowledgeable, interactive and fun. The food turned out delicious. In addition, the setting was amazing. Situated in the middle of vegetable farms, including a small organic farm on the property. Definitely get out of downtown Hoi An for a great cooking experience. Thank you Lemon Basil!
My boyfriend and I did the cooking class and farming tour with Kent. What a neat experience! This was one of the highlights of our visit to HoiAn. We spent about 2-3 hours learning how to cook Vietnamese food and then got to eat this huge meal 🥰 Thank you for this unique experience ❤️
We did a cooking class with my partner and I and we had such an amazing time. The chef was extremely friendly and patient and was very humorous! He encouraged us to have fun and we did some cooking tricks and had a lot of laughs. Would recommend!
We did a 4-hour food tour in Hoi An and loved it ! Lots of delicious typical food, and nice walk through the old town of Hoi An. Highly recommend !
Fabulous class, great variety, very friendly and helpful team. I am recommending it to all my friends!
The cooking class is wonderful at the restaurant lemon basil. The view is awesome and the ingredients are super fresh. Loved the class and can recommend to everybody.
Great class with a very helpful teacher and amazing ingredients!! Price was $20 each for 4 courses. We got lucky and didn’t have anyone else in the session but would be great either way!
Came to know Lemon Basil by chance, was surprised because of the experiences here. Growing vegetables, cooking, culinary culture, .. I did it all by myself. Food was delicous and people there were so friendly. Thank you Lemon Basil team.
