Mo was very friendly and answered any questions. Lots of funny little stories. Soooo much food and the boat ride is super fun. Strongly recommend doing this in Hoi An.

Wow! What an amazing experience for me and my family. We were picked up on time from our hotel in Old Town Hoí Ân and then we picked up (in a very organised fashion), additional participants on the way to meet up with our tour guide Trang. Trang spoke English very well and explained everything to all of us. We were the only family there as there were lots of couples in our group. Trang included my children and sparked up conversations with time. Highly recommend her if you are looking for an engaging guide. Trang walked us through the market and took her time to explain all of the food items, and answered questions we have on some different items in the marketplace. The in-depth knowledge of the history of certain items made the tour much more intriguing. Trang then bought us to ride the basket boats which was a great treat. We got to see other folks spinning in the baskets and also got to fish for some crab. My daughter caught one briefly before it jumped off. It was just the right amount of time on the boats. Then we were bought to our cooking class which floats (still) above the water where you were just passing by in the basket boat. Here you are welcomed by the smiling staff and then your class begins. We made some delicious fresh rolls, vegetable pancake, beef noodle salad and beef phó. Trang took her time explaining how to cook each item and we got to eat them immediately after each dish was complete. All the while she was attentively explaining why certain ingredients are used in order to balance against other flavours. When the class ended we were asked if we wanted to be dropped off at our hotel or the city center- which was a nice option. They also gifted us some traditional cooking chopsticks!! Lovely touch. All-in-all, the food was amazing, our guide was perfect and I highly recommend this tour. Our family will remember this forever!
Such a well organised experience with our tour guide and chef Trang. She made the whole shopping in the local market for ingredients and the cooking experience so much fun. The venue for the cooking class is awesome, set on stilts in the middle of a river jungle, reached by little coracle boats. After instruction from Trang, we cooked four dishes which were all delicious. After finishing our class we were given complimentary cooking chop sticks and the recipes were emailed over to us. We can’t wait to try out our new found skills back at home! The whole experience was such good value and there was nothing that we didn’t enjoy.
We loved this tour and cooking class, it was fantastic. Lee's expert tuition was patient and lots of fun, not to mention creating delicious dishes!
Unfortunately didn’t get our guides name, she was amazing. Her English was great and she was so clear with everything she explained. The tour was a perfect length, she demonstrated the cooking very clearly and assisted us throughout our own cooking too. Only downfall was due to the crowds at the market, it was hard to keep up and sometimes we missed what she was saying.
Had an amazing time, very good food and our teacher Trang was so good she made it very easy and fun. Would definitely recommend.
Convinient that we could do three activities in one program. Overall good and cooking was fun but it would have been better if the explanation part was shorter. The guide told us so many alternative ingredients and cooking methods but usually tourists come to enjoy the cooking not to really learn it to cook it when we go home. We totally understand she was doing her best and appreciate it but the weather was so hot and humid so one of the participants got really upset, started screaming and using swear words. On the way back, the crazy lady screamed at the driver, stopped the car, and disappeared in the middle of nowhere. The guide followed her. I know it just was a bad luck for us but it could have been better if we were told what happened after that since we all experienced it together, the experience was ruined, so... I guess people there deserved to know what happened but didn't hear from the guide since then.
Hon was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and warm. His cooking instruction was clear and easy to follow. The menu was simple but delicious. The boat tour was fantastically clever and unexpected. The food was excellent and the market trip was very informative. We loved the entire thing. And after, we didn’t have room for dinner. You will eat a lot and enjoy the meals along the way.
What a great tour. One of the best ever and we've been on dozens. Excelkenf guide. Cooking was fun and food was plentiful. Was apprehensive at first on the boat ride but it turned out to be good as well and we did some fishing. Highly recommend. Even my teen had a goo dtime!
Had a wonderful cooking tour today with Trang. She collected us from our hotel and took us to the market to pick out the ingredients. Then we had a very entertaining journey by basket boat to the restaurant. We cooked 4 dishes in total and passion fruit juice was served for free throughout the four hours. Trang speaks English very well and demonstrated everything very clearly before allowing us to try everything by ourselves. We are very happy and full and got a cookbook and chopsticks as a souvenir. Highly recommend .
Trang was an excellent guide and cooking instructor. This tour is a great way to experience some local food and the boats were a hi-light. A lot of fun
trang was a excellent guide and the whole experience was fantastic. The food we cooked was delicious and easy to follow instructions. Market was interesting and educational. The basket ride was lots of fun.
So much fun! Loved the addition of the crab fishing in the little boats. Lee our guide was amazing - she spoke great English, was super friendly and knowledgeable. She explained all the ingredients to us as we bought them at the market and was happy to adapt dishes for our vegetarian daughter. I highly recommend this cooking school it’s the best one we’ve done so far!
I was picked up at my hotel and we were all gathered at the market. Since it was raining they gave us rain jackets. the tour guide at the market bought the things we needed for our class. Then we got on the motor boat for a 45 minute ride and got to our destination. We all got into basket boat tour 2 people per basket and it was fun. then took us to our cooking class where we made 4 different meals...vietnamese rolls, then banh xeo, then noodles and vegetables and finally Pho Beef. we enjoyed it very much then we were all taken back to our hotels.
My husband and I do a cooking class Everytime we travel to a country. We were very excited to take this class because we really enjoy Vietnamese cuisine. The way this is advertised is very misleading. The basket boat/fishing is very underwhelming and touristy. We were on the boat for 10-15 minutes. We did not get to paddle the boat. The "fishing" was one makeshift fishing rod and went to the shore to try to fish for crabs. While we are doing this, there are competing karaoke boats near by blasting different beats. The boat guides are also competing for a tip as well so it is a little uncomfortable. The cooking location is very pretty, and relatively clean. Our chef, Wee, showed us how to make rice noodles. We had done a free bicycle tour that was on another island that showed us this process as well so it was repetitive for us but great for the others so I glad that they showed us again. The food was good and you get a cooking book with the recipes after! I would have given this a higher score except that I felt like everything was very rushed. You don't really have time to use the restroom. Wee is very funny and her use of the English language is good, but she is not patient. I found that she moved very quickly and then she would sort of take over if she felt that you were going too slow. She also gave us a lot of time to eat the appetizers and then rushed us with our main dish/fruit dessert. Lastly, the DJ/karaoke music is still going and you can hear it the entire time. This cooking class is located first on the water. I imagine that there are others down the water way that might offer you some peace.
Titles says it all - pick up, market trip, boat ride, coconut boat, cooking. Well worth the dollar. Wee the hostess was good.
Ne was a total super star, so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The whole afternoon was a joy from beginning to end. Thank you!!
A fun few hours. Just as advertised. Wasn’t that keen on the basket boat part when they thought we might want to sing karaoke, rather than peacefully enjoy the ride. Despite that, it was all great. Lots of great food to eat at the end and we learnt a lot about Vietnamese cooking and food. Recommended.
I enjoyed this class very much. It began with a tour of the market to obtain the ingredients, followed by a pleasant boat ride to the venue, including some time in a basket boat catching crabs. The venue was pleasant, and the food we cooked was very nice. Our chef and guide, Hi, was pleasant and funny. Recipes were clearly demonstrated and easy to follow. All in all, it was an excellent class.
We had an awesome day. Our cooking teacher qui was very friendly and funny and gave us an perfect introduction in Vietnamise cooking
Really amazing trip. The food was delicious and the basketboat ride was fun. Our chef Hi was really good!
We only made the trip with the basket boat, learning to fish with the net. It was a lot of fun for everyone.
Maybe it was very good... But when we were given a small basket and invited to follow twenty people in the leu-leu queue through the market, twenty people (at least) with twenty pretty identical little baskets, I pretended to be uncomfortable and we ran away. I imagined a group of six, eight people, there was Disney at the Viets and I couldn’t Sorry.
