The Saga Hotel Hoi An

All the reviews are true - this really is an exceptional place to stay. I did lots of research before selecting The Saga Hoi An for a six night stay with my wife. It was during her birthday and the team arranged a lovely surprise room decoration and then on her birthday they sang to her and had a cake. All the staff are amazing, from the front desk in the lobby to the doormen and people who serve breakfast - everybody genuinely cares and wants to help you make the most of your stay. Our room was spacious with a lovely bath and a shower with a big rain head, as well as a large comfy bed and a sofa. The pool is amazing (you need to get a lounger early in the day or you will miss out), and the fitness centre was really well appointed with great equipment. We looked forward to the breakfast buffet each day as there were new treats and a wide selection of European and Asian dishes to enjoy. One point to note is that this is not an adults-only resort so there can be kids here, but we still found it romantic and enjoyed the pool even with kids playing in it. If you want beach time, they provide a car that takes you to a beach club each day at set times and brings you back and this is really convenient and a nice activity. The location is good too, with easy access to the historic old town either in the free car transfer at set times during the day, or by a Grab car, and we chose to walk in on a couple of evenings. Overall, the experience of staying at the Saga is truly wonderful with lots of attention to detail, special touches such as free minibar and snacks, extra towels and a great pool bar too. All the staff were great, but special mention to Ami and Huong for making my wife's birthday so special, and Trieu for being so welcoming and helpful at the door. This was a special holiday to remember.

We stayed at this wonderful hotel for 7 nights as a family of six (2 adults and 4 children), and everything exceeded our expectations. Our room was spotless, spacious, and very comfortable throughout our stay. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed so warmly and made to feel at home. The service from every member of the staff was truly outstanding. Everyone was kind, professional, and always ready to help with a genuine smile. The breakfast was excellent, with a huge variety of delicious options. We especially appreciated that the kitchen prepared special vegetarian dishes just for us, which made us feel truly cared for. The housekeeping was exceptional, and the hotel was always kept perfectly clean. The swimming pool was also fantastic, and our children loved spending time there. We would especially like to thank Houng and Lily. They went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. They helped us arrange transportation, were always happy to assist with any request, and always greeted us with a smile. I also asked for a flower decoration on the bed for one special evening, and they arranged it beautifully. It was perfect and made the occasion even more memorable. This is truly a high-class hotel, and we honestly don't have a single complaint. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area and would be delighted to stay here again in the future!

Disappointing experience—definitely not family-friendly or clean. We arrived at 4:00 PM (past the 3:00 PM check-in time) with an 18-month-old toddler, but our room wasn't ready, and we had to wait 20 minutes just to get in. To make matters worse, four staff members stood around the lobby watching us struggle with our heavy luggage without offering to open the door or help. The management here is nonexistent. While the room layout was fine, the cleanliness was unacceptable; the headboard and lamps were covered in a thick layer of dust. Instead of a proper large bed, the bed was just two separate beds combined together. I spoke to someone who claimed to be the shift manager, but they only fixed the cleanliness issues afterward—something that should have been done before we checked in. On a positive note, the breakfast was incredible. The kitchen team did a fantastic job with both food quality and quantity. Tl;dr: Great location and incredible breakfast, but terrible service and room quality. The reception staff watched us struggle with luggage, check-in was delayed, and our room was dusty. They also just combined two beds instead of giving us a proper setup. Management only cleaned up after we complained. Not family-friendly.

If I could give more stars, I would. The team at The Saga made mine and my wife's first trip to Vietnam and Hoi An one that will be totally unforgettable and a hard benchmark for anyone else to meet. From the moment setting foot into the hotel, you felt welcomed by Houng and the team. The welcome drink was an exceptionally nice touch and extremely refreshing. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The price point is also fantastic for what the hotel offers. My wife is coeliac, and Lilly in the restaurant and the kitchen staff were extremely diligent with gluten free requirements. The buffet breakfast and lunch menu offerings are extensive and take you on a journey of flavours that Vietnam had to offer. Whilst we preferenced the local food, there was western style breakfast options available as well. The pool and bar area was also fantastic. A serene tropical oasis and immaculately clean. I honestly cannot speak highly enough of the Vietnamese hospitality and warmth provided by the hotel and their staff. We are already thinking about our return. Cảm ơn!
