Namia River Retreat - Wellness Inclusive Resort

This was one of the best hotel experiences we have had to date. Our villa was gorgeous, with every detail so considered and beautifully designed. The daily gifts and complementary local snacks in the room were a lovely touch. While the daily wellness experience at the spa was sumptuous, it’s the deeply caring nature of all the staff that made our stay the most memorable. Our host Tuyên made sure everything about our stay was looked after and easy, he was so lovely! We plan on returning next year because we loved the hotel so much.

Namia River Retreat was one of the most beautiful and relaxing stays of our trip through Vietnam. Our private pool villa was absolutely stunning, spacious, beautifully designed, surrounded by lush greenery and with a wonderful private pool right in front of the room. It felt incredibly peaceful and private, and honestly it was one of those places where you almost don’t want to leave the villa at all. The whole resort has a very calm and relaxing atmosphere, with beautiful natural surroundings and a strong sense of privacy. We also really enjoyed moving around the resort by bicycle and appreciated the overall wellness concept, which fits perfectly with the setting. What made our stay even more special, however, was the level of personal attention we received. A very special thank you goes to Tuyên, our host during the stay. He was always available whenever we needed anything, incredibly kind and attentive, and made everything very easy for us. When we had a small issue with the light in our private pool, he immediately arranged for the engineering team to come and fix it, and later that evening he contacted us again just to make sure everything was working perfectly. He also helped us with restaurant reservations, buggy arrangements and information about transfers, always with genuine care and a smile. Even after we had left Namia, he wrote to ask how the rest of our journey was going, a small gesture that says a lot about the hospitality we experienced here. The whole team was warm, welcoming and professional, and the combination of the beautiful setting, the amazing villa, the wellness atmosphere and such thoughtful service made our stay truly memorable. Not as perfect as it should be at this price point, but many positives help to balance out the negatives. Resort is physically gorgeous, with beautiful landscaping and lots of natural materials incorporated into the lovely architecture. The villa was beautiful, with very nice outdoor pool and indoor sunken bathtub. We enjoyed the spa, the yoga room, the restaurants. Some of the managers are excellent. Special kudos in particular to Lai for trying hard to improve our experience, after we had a less than satisfactory first day. She was very patient and addressed many of our concerns. When we had noise issues, she moved us to a lovely villa all the way at the end of the island, and checked in with us multiple times to make sure we were comfortable and happy. She is super responsive, even helping with follow up requests after our stay. We appreciated her warm and sincere hospitality, she is a great asset to Namia, and clearly familiar with how to provide service of the highest standards. Where the resort needs more work is on training the rest of the staff. Some managers like Lai were outstanding and constantly sought feedback to improve, but many staff weren’t at 5 star standards : 1. Our initial host, very efficient but lacking in genuine warmth and thoughtfulness needed from hospitality staff. Didn’t make any effort to make our stay special (despite the milestone birthday the trip was meant to celebrate), and not good at service recovery. Didn’t see him again after we checked in, until after we complained ! 2. My dirty bathrobe, which I left stashed under the sink to be replaced, was picked up by the cleaning staff and hung up next to the shower. My towel, which was neatly hung up on a hanger, was instead replaced ! 3. At the spa, I wrote down on the questionnaire and spoke to the reception about pain in my wrist and knee. This wasn’t communicated to the therapist, who nearly caused me a lot of pain. My acupressure therapy massage almost became a full on roller and guasha “treatment” until I got impatient halfway through and told the therapist I wanted a proper massage ! Very importantly, when you make the decision to stay at Namia, please do not be under any illusion that you will be at a calm and peaceful resort, away from it all. The river the resort is on is quite busy, with lots of boats chugging up and down all day long with their diesel engines and often times, party music and karaoke for the tourists. On the other side, it is just across a narrow creek from some houses on the “mainland”. Two out of the three nights (mid-week !), we had to put up with loud thumping music during the evening, which we could hear from inside our villa. So if you are sensitive about noise and are looking for a quiet space, Namia and the other hotels along the river are probably not the best option.

One of my absolute favorite hotels and easily in the top 3 hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The level of service at Namia River Retreat Hoi An is simply exceptional. What makes the experience truly memorable is that many activities are included, such as the sunset cruise and even 90-minute massages every day. It creates a unique feeling of relaxation and attention to detail throughout the stay. The restaurants are excellent, with very high-quality food. They are a bit expensive, but that is understandable considering the level of the hotel and the overall experience. The villa itself is incredibly well decorated, elegant, peaceful, and designed with great taste. Everything feels luxurious yet authentic. The staff is absolutely perfect, and having a dedicated butler for each villa makes a huge difference. Ours was extremely responsive and made sure everything went smoothly during the entire stay. There was only one small issue regarding the massage duration not being fully respected on two consecutive days, but the team handled it very professionally and corrected everything on the third day. That level of responsiveness and care only reinforced how outstanding the service truly is. A genuinely exceptional hotel experience that I would highly recommend without hesitation.
