Glacier Hiking In Skaftafell

We did the 3.5-hour glacier hike today and had a fantastic experience! Everything was very well organized. Our group was quite mixed in terms of experience and fitness levels, but our guide Tomasz handled it perfectly. He made sure everyone felt comfortable and created a great tour where everyone could enjoy the experience at their own pace. We had an amazing time and would definitely recommend this glacier hike to anyone visiting Iceland!

This experience would have been great, however Viator had the wrong information on their website and therefore caused us to miss our tour. The ticket we bought said 9:30 Al departure. We arrived at 9:10 only to be told that the tour left at 9:00 am and the 3rd party company (Viator) had displayed the wrong information. The tour guides were very helpful and informed us that they will be messaging Viator to help start a refund for us, however Viator has not replied and has not issued our refund despite multiple emails sent requesting one. We were unable to rebook this tour due to it being sold out. Incredible disappointing to not only miss the tour, but also not get refunded by this company. Would not recommend using Viator to anyone due to this terrible communication.

Was a good experience on the glacier, guide was great, gave us a good overview and safety briefing. The hike to the glacier itself was too long, would have been nice to hike more on the glacier. But overall a good first time experience.

Mike, our guide was informative, knowledgeable and patient but above all he made this fun! Very enjoyable experience and worth the money and time.

Easy, gentle and well organised trip onto a glacier, perfect for first-timers. Most equipment provided, and Dario was a charming and entertaining guide. Beautiful to be able to walk on the glacier and experience it close up.

Hour on ice or so three hours total educational

It's experience of the perfect hike. It was just the right amount of time on the glacier. Guide to Iceland was super helpful and went above and beyond.

Easy and beautiful way to explore a glacier. Dario, the Italian guide, was an excellent leader, explaining every step and helping us navigate the glacier. He also made some photographic scenes to enhance the tour. Highly recommend.

Sadly the day before our glacier hike we were contacted by the company that due to operational issues they couldn’t run the hike and instead offered an ice cave tour. However, the ice tour ended up being a poor experience. If you’re after a physical challenge and authentic experience, ensure you don’t take the alternate offer.

It was expensive but worth it for my daughter who had never done anything like it. Guide was great. Would recommend and would do it again.

Super Duper. Jessi was very kind. Unluckily we got slow down with slower people. One recommendation: maybe split in Fitness Groups (fit, moderate, slow), which can customers select before buying the ticket.

She was incredibly professional, making sure we felt safe and confident while climbing the glacier, and she kept the whole tour lighthearted and fun. I had forgotten to book proper boots, but Jessi kindly provided me with an extra pair she had brought along, which made a huge difference. Thanks to her thoughtfulness, I was able to enjoy the hike without any issues. A truly professional and caring guide — highly recommended!

This is an excellent experience that I never had it before! Tour guide Jessie is so nice and explain in detail about everything like how to wear the gear, things we need to be aware of and well as the glacier. I really spend a great day!

Hiking the Falljökull glacier was absolutely incredible and an unmissable part of our Iceland ring road trip! Our guide Jessie gave great travel recommendations and answered all our questions about life and culture in Iceland. She also taught us how to safely walk on the ice with crampons and brought us along a safe path on the glacier, so even though it was a thrilling adventure we never felt at all in danger. The views on the glacier were like nothing we’d ever seen before and getting to drink the glacier water was too cool. So glad to have done this tour!

This was such a fantastically surprising experience. We wanted to see a glacier almost to check the box but didn't expect much necessarily, but it was an incredible hike through the most unique environment and features. We've been in Iceland for almost a week and this is our favorite experience, and this tour is definitely a must. The guide, Jessie, was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable, I think the best guide we've had here. She knew so much technical information about the weather, climate, geology, history, and most especially glaciers. We'd highly recommend her and this tour.

The Rock was a Great guide. Fun safe and informative. Knowledgeable and helpful. The tour was a great mix of training, learning and fun and you made sure we all got great photo shots also.

The best guide we have ever met!!! Very fantastic experience on the ice glacier. Hope to come again! There are deep blue ice holes and the tour guide offerred us a chance to hang down the hole and take pictures. Also, he led us to try the ice water! Ultimately this was a great opportunity as all the people could follow up and the guide was so patient.

Norbert was a Great Tour Guide. He gave us many interesting information about the glacier and was really kind and motivated. We enjoyed the tour and would do it again.

We went on a tour with Norbert and he did such an amazing job! Took us through extra spots and had us rappel to look down a crevasse it was so much fun! He really went above and beyond to give our group a great experience.

The hike was fantastic, not only was the view breathtaking, but our guide, Norbert, was very helpful and explained the history of the glacier and Iceland very well. We had an absolutely amazing time on the tour with Norbert. He was great at explaining to e safety steps, helping all of us, and explaining all about the terrain. He was particularly patient and kind with my 12 year old son. The hike itself was beautiful. Highly recommend this tour!

Amazing afternoon!!! Our guide was Onie (I cannot spell his entire beautiful name!), and he was perfect for our crew. He figured out how the group would do, and took us on an amazing journey. We climbed, we hiked, we took beautiful photos and had a truly AWEsome experience. He made sure everyone had a great time inbthe safest way possible. And that's a huge feat, considering we were climbing around on an ice mountain!! Absolutely would use this company again for anything we do. And would hike with Onie again in a heartbeat!!

We loved this glacier hiking activity. Our family has different fitness/experience and the guide spoke with us to understand our needs and in the end half went on a more adventure tour and half on a more beginner tour. This was perfect and allowed all to have a great experience. Plus our guide took care to ensure safety and worked with each person - what a great teacher :)

had a great time, super easy to find, great guide. Car ride was quick and a fun bit of off-roading that gets you right up to the glacier. One, our guide, was super flexible and accommodating. Got to fill my water bottle from the glacier directly!

The experience itself was great. The booking process was awful. We booked several days ahead of time and when we were pulling up to the location listed after a +2 hr drive to get there, we got a call telling us the location had changed to someplace about 45 minutes away. We started the drive to the new location, now running very late. About 10 minutes into the new location we got a call saying the previous information was not correct, and that the tour had actually been cancelled. So we made a 3 hr drive for a tour that we weren’t told was cancelled until we already arrived at the location listed. They apologized and scheduled us for the next day, but we had to change up all of our plans for the remainder of the trip to Iceland. Also the Link they sent us to reschedule with made it so we couldn’t use our Viator credits so it ended up making it more expensive than it was originally. Once we were on the tour our guide was excellent and it was very enjoyable though the hike/walk itself was less than an hour of the 3 hr experience.

I give a very high rating to the tour leader for this trip. Not only is he humorous and witty, but he is also willing to provide necessary assistance when needed. Thank you very much for his leadership today.

A wonderful experience!! Seeing the glacier that is about to disappear, stepping on it felt incredibly unreal, the shock of being on the glacier, unforgettable for a lifetime!

It is a great and unique experience. It is also suitable for beginners, at first it is a bit uphill but afterwards it is nice to go. Our guide 'Stone' was very nice and told a lot of interesting things about the glacier. I would recommend it 100%.
