Frozen Wonders : Small Group Ice Cave Tour

Meeting up on time with an adventerous ride to the cave, arrived slightly earlier than big group with good photo opportunity. The cave is quite crowded by the time we come out. Enjoyed the tour well. And we were taken care of well during the tour.

It was new experience with the feeling of adventure and excitement, and with a small group. The leader was exceptional and helped me traverse the terrain.

It was such a great experience, a small family run company. They’re super helpful and knowledgeable throughout the entire trip. I recommend.

We had a superb time with Boggi and Vigga. A fantastic Father/Daughter combination who enhance the experience with their knowledge, helpfulness, humour and excitement for what they do. The cave was amazing and getting there early made a huge difference to the enjoyment by not queueing to enter and not being crowded in the cave. Please use these guys, you won’t regret it. If you are looking for an ice cave/glacier tour while visiting Iceland look no further!!! My husband and I did this tour in March and it was such an unforgettable experience and an absolute highlight of our trip. Boggi was an amazing tour guide, so friendly, knowledgeable, and really cared about your experience! We appreciated that the tour group size was small - only 6 people total. They also make every effort to be the first tour group to the ice caves in the morning which was incredible. No crowds, no waiting in lines, we were the only people there. Absolutely AMAZING!! We met Boggi and Viggi in the parking area. We were with Viggi for the day. She was very knowledgeable about the area and glaciers. She drove us over the glacier right to the area we would enter the caves. We were so grateful as others had quite the hike. I can’t say enough good about the tour! I loved the small group. Our family of 3 were joined by another group of 3. The caves we entered were absolutely breathtaking! We never felt rushed, actually encouraged to enjoy the moment, take our time. I would absolutely 1000% recommend this specific tour to everyone!

This was our favorite excursion on our week-long visit to Iceland. We traveled as a family of 5 (3 children). It is a very small group tour and because of the size of the group, Viggi and Boggi are able to drive right out on the glacier, passing all the other tour groups. We enjoyed learning more about Iceland from Viggi (our guide) on the off-roading ride to the glacier. The ice caves were so beautiful! If you are planning to book an ice cave tour, this is the one to book!

This is a great outdoor activity to do while in Iceland, very unique. This was the highlight of our trip! Boggi was very knowledgeable and made the experience top notch. He let us take our time, took amazing pictures and really got to see the ice cave in a small group setting, just two others join our family of 4. Highly recommend going with this family run business!

When we decided to take this tour, we had very high expectations and now that it’s over we can definitely say that it was 100% worth it. Vigga is a very attentive guide and you can tell she’s passionate about what she does by the way she shows you around and proudly talk about different stories and sights of the local area. We couldn’t have chosen a better company for this tour! Being a small group lead by a local family definitely makes the difference, we couldn’t recommend it more! 2 hours and an half of amazing landscapes :)

Our guide Veka (not sure if Im writing her name correctly) was amazing. She is very knowledgable about Iceland and you can notice how much she actually enjoys doing the tours. I liked that we were able to enjoy the caves before the rest of the big groups and our tour was very small, so that actually helped us to spend more time in the caves and enjoy tons of pictures without crowds of people, 2 friends of mine had to do the tour with another agency and their complaint was precisely the large numbers of participants and how they made it hard to get some pics. So definetely if you are planning to enjoy the caves and actually learn something about Iceland definetely book with Ice cave in Iceland. Important note: every blog and traveller I've read and also something we were told by our guide is that the caves change every season, It is sad to see the speed the glaciers are melting, so the pictures you see from one traveller be sure might be different on the summer or next winter, you have to make this trip minding that the glacier is ever changing and melting

I cannot rate this tour highly enough. Boggi and his daughter Viggi gave us a unique, private tour experience. Their vehicles are able to traverse the glacier avoiding long hikes — key for our 9 and 7 year olds being happy. No huge tour groups either. 100% do this tour over the other major tour operators.

The weather on the day of our trip was particularly challenging. All the big operators cancelled. Our tour was ready and waiting! Instead of a big bus or a 'super jeep' that holds 20 or 30 people, there were 7 of us total. We could truly experience the caves, listen and learn from Vigga! It was hard to choose what tour to take from home, but this was definitely the right choice. We truly appreciated the natural cave in the national park rather than a man made cave made by guys with chainsaws.

These guys are the best! We researched 10+ firms and chose 'IceCaveInIceland' because (a) their groups are limited to 6 people (others do 12+), (b) they go to additional caves that big groups can't, (c) have great well maintained vehicles (we saw other firms breakdown), (d) have fantastic local knowledge - being doing it 20+ years, (e) are a local family business (father & daughter), (f) genuinely care that you enjoy yourselves and are safe (lovely people), (g) drive onto the glacier ice (most tourist companies are not licenced to do this - and stop at glacier edge) which reduces time walking to the caves & gives more time exploring the caves! We had a fantastic time which exceeded all expectation and strongly recommend using this company. Thank you Vigga and Boggi for such a brilliant experience. We waited 3 years to do this, loved it, and hope to be back one day...

Boggi took us on an tour full off spectacular spots on the gletsjer and into the ice caves. This company is very much people focussed from booking untill the 4x4 adventure itself. Besides (local) knowledge, Boggi tells stories with humor and the small groups they organize makes absorbing impressions easy. The early leave was golden, we were the first onbthe spot. We drove up to about 100 mtrs next to caves. It is cold up there due to frost and wind, so this is a huge advantage. On our way back we saw groups of 10 -20 walking for about half an hour to get there. Only 2-4 guides are allowed to park that close. By booking directly you will keep some money in the pocket for a nice lunch afterwards. So exclude the resellers they ripping you off! Really glad that we joined Ice Cave in Iceland on this tour, call them +354 8533535 (don’t complain afterwards if you did not).

This was a highlight of our trip to Iceland. The guide/owner Boggi was very gracious and full of knowledge of the area, the local folklore and the history of the glaciers. It was amazing experience. In my opinion it is the best company to do this trip. We arrive before big groups and we could have caves only for ourselves and no rush. It was pleasure to listen interesting stories in the car.

Amazing experience with Vigga and Poggi, a dynamic father-daughter duo who are passionate about their work. We felt safe and comfortable throughout the tour, especially travelling with children. We had Vigga who shared extensive knowledge on the glaciers, ice caves and even Icelandic traditions and culture. She also made it a point to give us photo- taking tips and we never felt rushed. Also, a huge plus point is that their vehicles are equipped to travel right to the entrance of the caves so there was no need to hike half hour up to the caves. Vigga’s warmth and dedication made this one of the most memorable moments of our trip- A big, heartfelt thank you!

Best ice cave tour, hands down!! This is one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Iceland. They have specially modified jeeps that make it possible to get right next to the ice caves and ahead of the crowds on the busses that must hike 20-30 minutes to get to the caves. We were first in and had time to experience the caves and take photos at a leisurely pace. We went with Boggi’s daughter, Vigga, who was so great. She was very knowledgeable about the area, how ice caves are found and the history of the glaciers. She grew up in nearby Hofn and gave us a picture of what it was like to grow up and live in Iceland. Honestly, look no further, this is the tour to book; as far as I could determine, the “hike” of the other tours was a walk from the bus parking area to the caves, not worth the trade off, in my opinion.

So many companies out there offering this tour but this place was far above the rest! Small groups makes for a much better experience! They drive right up onto the glacier with their super jeep while the others didn’t which was fun and a great perk! Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience even better! Don’t look anywhere else, book with these guys!!

Hands down one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland. Our family of 5 basically had a private tour with Boggi for less than the big tour companies were charging. I almost didn’t book an ice cave tour due to the cost for a family of 5 so I was so glad I found the Ice Cave in Iceland tours as they were a lot more reasonably priced. Boggi was excellent and made the whole experience easy, enjoyable, and above all entertaining. The ice caves were incredible and Boggi was able to drive us directly to them rather than enduring a 20 min glacier hike with 3 kids which was very much appreciated. Such a unique experience and we were so happy we decided to include it in our itinerary. If you are in the fence about an Ice cave tour, book it! And use Boggi’s company!

An experience we will be talking about for years! The beauty and history delivered effortlessly in a Super Jeep. Other tours would have you walk/hike to the caves… this one drives right up the glacier! Our guide is a local and has been driving Super Jeeps since she was a teenager. Not only did our small group of 6 hear about the glaciers and Icelandic folklore, we felt incredibly safe! Don’t pass on this opportunity… and don’t pass on doing it with this company!

It was an amazing experience. The day we did was very windy and many others companies have canceled the ride, but they keep the tour. Their car is very good and safe to go all the way to the glacier. Also is made on small groups wich makes the experience even more unique. The tour guide Vikka was very nice too.

This glacier ride and ice cave exploration were definite trip highlights! It was a cold, windy, blustery day though the sun was out and the sky was blue. We met our super jeep at the lot as directed and headed out right on time! I felt safe and secure on the ride but to drive on a glacier was/is mind blowing! It was so special to be one of the first groups to explore the caves! We had the entire place to our little group of four (two couples and our guide). We were able to touch the glacier, the formations, the caves, tunnels. We slid down some, walked up and down others. We were able to sit and relax and look through the ice at the unique patterns created by time, wind, water, sun, ice. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Not many people get to experience the glacier let alone experience it the way we did. Thank you so much!

After carefully reviewing other companies I went with Boggi and I am so glad that I did. Please note that other companies are using old photos on their tour page as the ice caves vary from season to season so check this year's reviews/photos. Tours were canceled due to hurricane-force winds but since Boggi drives us to the cave (vs hiking part of it) we were only exposed to the harsh elements when outside of the caves and he didn't have to cancel our tour. Boggi made the ride fun by playing a guessing game and even gave a prize at the end. Boggi knows the glacier well and I felt very safe with him traveling as a solo female and in navigating the terrain. Professional, enthusiastic, family-oriented. Boggi and his little company are just phantastic. Very personal, caring and fun. We loved the tour, even in bad weather more than worth it!

This was an awesome tour done by a family-ran business who truly cares about ensuring a memorable experience. Our guide Vigga was extremely knowledgeable. It was a total of 5 in our jeep and a major pro of this tour was that she (and her father who drove the other jeep) are allowed to drive on the actual glacier and got us close to the entrance, where as other larger tour groups had to park further away and they had to trek for over 10 minutes. I highly recommend this tour as it's more intimate, fun, and genuine.

Don't search anymore-THIS IS THE TRIP TO BOOK!!! Small group vehicle equipped to drive you onto the glacier for close walking distance to the caves, instead of parking far away and having to walk a minimum of 20 minutes before even reaching a cave!! The day we went the wind was howling, the place was PACKED with busses and vans, yet we were in and out of the caves, all by ourselves, before any other grouped even reached them by foot. I cannot recommend this company enough! Highly experienced owner and guide, Buggy, was so personable, funny, and accommodating. He contacted me the night before to adjust our departure time in order to avoid the crowds and we had the caves entirely to ourselves!! No waiting for 20 people to go in and out, personalized Q & A whenever we wanted, fun tips for taking pictures- he was GREAT!!

My husband and I booked with Boggi four years ago when we visited Iceland so, when returning with the whole family this year, we wanted the opportunity to visit the ice caves with the kids and, once again, we were not disappointed! Boggi and his daughter Vigga were fabulous. We met at Jokulsarlon and set off at 0830 ahead of the crowds. Their specially adapted vehicles meant that we were able to drive right up on the the glacier, leaving the other tour groups behind. We had the caves all to ourselves and loved every moment. We had a very good experience at the ice cave today with Ice Cave in Iceland. We left at 08:30 and were the only ones in the cave, it was truly amazing. We had never seen something like this. Boggi showed us around and his kindness, good spirits, experience and knowledge of the area was what made it special. He always had a nice story to tell and you can see he truly enjoys what he does. We would go back without hesitation!

Very fun. Easy to do for all fitness levels and we even enjoyed the enriching talks on the way to and from the caves. We were able to beat the crowds and had the best time. Boggi is the best. Truly one of the highlights of our iceland trip!!

It was so amazing ! Boggi was amazing. He live the glacier as nobody else and explained everything really clearly and was really kind with all of us. He timed the tour perfectly so we were alone in the cave with no other group around. I recommend it very warmly !

He brought Iceland’s history and folklore completely to life, telling stories about trolls—including the unforgettable tale of the kissing troll who turned to stone when his wife finally returned with all the seafood. Excellent tour of the ice caves with Vigga. She gave us lots of explanations, told several interesting stories about Iceland, and answered all our questions. Given the time of our visit, we were the only ones touring the caves, so we had all the time we wanted to admire the ice and take photos. It's a unique experience that you absolutely must try !

Very good visit , only with our family ( 5 people) in a special car 4x4 with special inflating system that could allow us to be as near as possible of the ice caves. The daughter of the owner who was our driver and guide was very interesting and kind. A good experience which I recommend
