We had an amazing time learning about all the old traditional Sake breweries, and our guide Ione was both super friendly and very knowledgeable. Can't recommend enough, for anyone wanting to experience Sake culture and visit Saijo.

Fukubijin was called the Saijo Brewing School and has produced many outstanding mater brewers. Let's taste "Fukubijin Junmai-Shu." You can try warm Sake during winter season!
Kamoizumi was one of the first breweries in Japan to begin brewing junmai-shu (pure rice sake) using only rice and koji mold as ingredients. Taste their signature product, "Junmai Ginjoshu 朱泉 Honjikomi."
Distributes brouchures, offers information about Sakagura-dori Street, and is stocked with souvenirs. Take a restroom break here.
Kirei Shuzo is characterized by its dry taste compared to other Saijo sake. You will taste "Yoshidaya’s Sake," a limited sake blended by the brewery with sake that is ready to drink in that month.
Saijotsuru brews sake using traditional techniques passed down from generation to generation by Hiroshima sake brewers. You can taste "Junmai Daiginjo Genshu Shinzui" which has been repeatedly awarded by Monde Selection.

Fun and great tour. Ione is very knowledgeable and fun. We had a great time learning about the traditions and the making of sake as well as tasting it! Totally recommend!
Easy to find, great sake, and a good walk! The excellent host for our small group (Ione) took us to several sake breweries where we could try eight sakes brewed in very different ways. All were fantastic, but most were not the sake easy to find overseas. They were a variety of types and flavors, from dry to sparkling. I would not recommend this tour to anyone that doesn't like sake or isn't prepared for a tasting of a whole range of traditional liquor, as you often try the drink in front of the brewers. The five of us ended our tour delighted to have gone and sorry we did not have more time to spend. I even went and tried more sake as I tried to buy bottles from all the breweries we had visited! Please support the town and sake breweries and consider this tour!
We have tasted Sake available in UK and wanted to experience and compare it to the authentic taste in Japan. In a compact trip, when we were informed about this Sake tasting in Saijo as an option, we couldn’t resist it and what an experience!! Our guide Ione was not only very helpful but she made the whole tour a very memorable experience. All selected Sake were an experience in itself and some we know we can never get once we leave this beautiful country. Meeting the master brewer himself and understanding the skill & knowledge it takes to make this drink will always stay with me. Arigato gozaimasu
Excellent guide - Ione! Fabulous overall experience Tasted Sake I never knew and had’
My friends and I went on a sake tour led by Ione. She is very knowledgeable about the breweries and the area around Saijo. She is also incredibly personable and was enthusiastic during the entire tour. I had a really great time and would happily recommend everyone do the tour.
The sake tour was a wonderful experience, with a variety of delicious sake and a fantastic guide (Ione). Our small group all enjoyed the variety of sake (would not recommend this experience for those that barely tolerate sake). My only complaint is that I can't keep drinking this sake or visiting Saijo town!
My friend and I had a great afternoon Sake tasting with Shiori. She was very informative and we learnt so much about how sake is made, and the sake was delicious. A great area to taste sake as so many breweries in close proximity. Once our tour ended we had a great lunch at a local cafe. Was an awesome day and as I write this we are enjoying some sake overlooking Hiroshima.
We had amazing couple of hours with our guide Shiori on the Saijo Sakagura-dori Sake tasting tour, we saw seven Sake breweries, each different to the other in brewing & style. Shiori was very knowledgeable & a delight to be with.
A great tour made fantastic by our guide Ione. A little rushed as our group liked to savour the sake and talk! Highly recommend Ione :)
The tour was great, our guide Ione was super informative and helpful, she didn't rush us, which was amazing. Highly recommend it.
It was a lovely tour through one of the centers of japanese sake brewing. I did not know that there are so many different types of Sake. I can recommend this tour a lot. Especially to people who want to see a less touristy part of Japan.
Our tour guide was very informative and well prepared. We enjoyed tasting 10 different sakes in the 7 breweries in the Saijo area. Highly recommend.
We had a nice tour of toN spots and 7 sake distilleries. The host was excellent very friendly and gave us great information on sake. Tasted 9 sakes. All very different. We would highly recommend this tour . FYI we had never had sake before this tour.
Great experience! We ended up going to so many shops and learning so much about sake! I would absolutely recommend it for another!
What a fascinating and enjoyable tour! I admit to knowing nothing about sake before going and now I know a little more! An easy half hour train journey from Hiroshima to Saijo, which is dominated by red brick chimneys. Our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. My only criticism is that it was rushed and an extra half an hour would have allowed for more appreciation of the sake and town. Kampai!
The tour guide was great! Very knowledgeable and passionate! The tour is a bit rush though. It would be better to start a bit earlier e.g. 12pm and extend to 2.5 hours. This will allow more time to re-visit the Breweries after the tour, as most of them close at 4pm on weekdays.
It was a good experience with Yuko-san explaining the different breweries and highlighting some interesting facts along the way. While you can visit the breweries on your own too, I feel this is better because the guide will explain in English and be your 'liaison' with the breweries staff. I was lucky to be the only one who signed up for the 2-hour tour on that day so it was like having a personal guide. I will recommend this tour if you do not really speak Japanese and like to have a sake-tasting tour. You get to take the small ceramic cup home as a souvenir too.
The tour is fun and informative! We learned a lot and our guide was fantastic. The meeting place couldn’t be easier - inside the train station. Thanks again!
Great tour. The guide was lovely and she really taught us a lot. Good to try many different types of sake and appreciated the ceramic cup instead of disposable plastic one.
Absolutely loved this tour! Highly recommend booking. I learned so much.
Absolutely loved this tour, we had so much sake and had an amazing experience! Would absolutely love to do this again!
Shiori was an excellent guide. Her love of Saijo was so evident as we walked to each location. Each brewery was proud and happy to discuss their product, and we had such a good time touring the town and sampling the sakes. This was a great little detour from Hiroshima and SUCH a great experience!
We really enjoyed our tour and had a very knowledgeable and fun guide. We were lucky to try 7 sakes and visit all the breweries. We definitely learnt alot and would definitely recommend this tour.
We had a lovely tour of the seven breweries in Saijo with Masa-san. He was very knowledgable and patient with us and helped at the end to go back to buy some of the sake from the breweries that were still open.
We had the sweetest lady as our guide and taught us so much about the sake making process. It was raining so you would think it would be a less then an enjoyable experience but it was the opposite!!
Entertaining and very informative tour of 7 distilleries with a great introduction and explanation to sake, the varities and tastes. Highlight being a visit to the Hakubotan Distillery founded in 1675 and been in the same family since. Their Junami Raw Sake excellent with slight sparkling bubbles. Lovely.
All you wanted to know about sake breweries but were afraid to ask! Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly and made the brewery visits a real pleasurable experience.
Our tour guide was amazing! I was impressed by the hospitality and care we experienced at each stop. The drinks were great, but the dishes that came with it were beyond our expectations.👌🏼 We are very grateful for the experience and welcoming feeling from the establishments. Thank you so much, Levi for the great learning session and recommendations! 🙏🏼
We had an amazing tour through the breweries. Our guide, Ione, was such a lovely warm person. She was very knowledgable and enthusiastic both about the natural science components of brewing sake (e.g. the different fungies involved, the chemical processes etc) as well as the historical components. We were amazed how very different sake can taste depending on the refinement of the rice and the different types of koji and yeast. It was a lovely train ride to Sajio, seeing a bit of the Japanse lives outside of the big cities. If you have some room in your schedule, definitely take this tour! ps. I do recommend coming with a full stomach as the many sakes are adding up.
Amazing tour in English, lots of Sake to try and history of the town. Easy to meet as tourist information is in the station.
Yoshiko was great! Very friendly and was a great guide. We visited 7 sake breweries and tried different styles of sale at each. It felt a bit rushed, but otherwise was great! My feedback would be to maybe only visit 4-5 breweries and stay longer at each (trying different styles at each).
Amazing sake tour 10/10. Our guide Masa is a sake sommelier and was so knowledgeable and we never felt rushed. Most breweries aren’t open to public on weekdays but with the tour we were able to visit all 7 breweries and try 9-10 types of sake. We were able to try a huge range of different styles of sake each with unique flavours and brewing processes. They provided us with a free sake glass each and one of the breweries gave us a free bottle too.
Yoshiko was very pleasant and knowledgeable about her “sake town”, Saijo. She shared her culture and educated us about Japan. Highly recommend.
Yuko was a very knowledgeable guide who took us around the Saijo street breweries, dispensing local facts as we went. The sake samples were all well selected and covered a breadth of styles. This was a lot of fun, would do again!
Our guide was amazing and very friendly. We got to try a wide range of Sake and learn some history and the brewing process.
A Wonderful Experience at the Saijo 7 Breweries Tasting Tour Today, I had the pleasure of participating in the Saijo 7 Breweries Tasting Tour, organized by the Higashihiroshima City Tourism Association. It was an absolutely delightful and enriching experience. Our guide, Ms. Yone, was exceptional. Her deep knowledge of Saijo’s rich history and the intricate process of sake preparation and production was truly impressive. She explained everything in great detail, ensuring that we gained a meaningful understanding while keeping the entire group engaged and entertained. Her warm, friendly nature and graceful personality added a special charm to the tour. We were also fortunate to have Ms. Tomoko Ogata accompanying us. She was equally dedicated and enthusiastic, making a great effort to explain every single aspect clearly. Together, both of them made our visit to Saijo incredibly memorable and enjoyable. The staff at each of the seven sake breweries were very welcoming and cooperative. They generously shared their knowledge, and we had the opportunity to taste a wide variety of unique and delicious sake. This tour was not only a wonderful cultural experience but also a beautiful example of Japanese hospitality and craftsmanship. I sincerely thank the entire team, especially Ms.Yone and Ms. Ogata, for their kind efforts. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hiroshima or interested in learning more about sake.
Best tour we had! Totally recommend! We were late but they totally worked with us when we were late. Please try the tour totally worth it.
It is very good tour. A tour guide is very nice and friendly person. I had a good time for tasting Saijo Sake. I will introduce this tour with my friend. Thank you for your tour
I experienced the Sakaguradori Tasting tour in Saijo Higashi Hiroshima. Its a 2 hour tour where you go to seven sake breweries in the area learning about the process to make sake and tasting different kinds from the different companies. It was a great experience.
A must-try tour when you visit Saijo, Higashihiroshima city. Participate in this tour can give you a more well-rounded understanding of sake making process and sake product line-up. Also Shiromi san is an enthusiastic tourguide so you can ask and learn a lot from her.
Today, I participated in a sake culture event in Saijo and had a wonderful experience. I gained a deeper understanding of Japan’s rich sake traditions, which I found both fascinating and enjoyable. I also had the opportunity to taste a variety of delicious sake. I highly recommend visiting Saijo—it’s a relaxing and delightful place that everyone can enjoy.
We had a great time with the brilliant Ione as a guide. Learnt a lot about the Saijo area and the history and brewing techniques for sake. I would recommend this tour over those that visit only a couple of locations, much more complete and more fun!
The sake taste was very unique. I was introduced very detail about the original of Sake. The guiders are very supportive and friendly. I will visit this place in the future and introduce friends to come this place
Exceptional first time sake experience! Our tour guides were very welcoming and kind, wonderful people! We visited 6 breweries where we tasted 7 different sake and got to watch a 10 minutes video on how sake is made. After the tour, we had no choice but to buy our favorite bottles. Kanpai!
I went with friends to this sake tasting and it was amazing! Our guides were knowledgeable about the history and about sake and were sweet and friendly. They made this a one of a kind experience. Would 100% recommend to anyone, sake lover or beginner.
Very welcome and nice tour guide. We had the best time and really recommend the tour. Tasted some really good sake, heard about the history and how to make sake!
My husband and I spent a fantastic afternoon tasting sake in Saijo. Every sake was different but absolutely delicious. Ione was a brilliant guide - her knowledge about the history and process of sake brewing was extensive, but more than that she was a pleasure to spend time with. I would highly recommend this tasting tour.
The guide & assistant were wonderful. In depth knowledge about saki and very personable. I found the variety in tastings was superb. it I highly recommend.
Tour was lots of fun! Our guide, Ione, was delightful and very knowledgeable. The locations we visited were interesting and it was great to taste the different types of sake and really get an appreciation for it's versatility. Highly recommended!
