Nao was an exceptional guide. Thoughtful, knowledgeable, and deeply engaging, she brought the history of Hiroshima and the Peace Park to life with sensitivity and humanity. Having a private guide added so much context we never would have gotten on our own. Moving, fascinating, and one of the highlights of our time in Japan. Highly recommend Nao!
Our host met us at the Shinkansen train station and showed us around the Samurai garden, castle and the Peace Dome and memorial park and museum. It was such a moving experience, especially because Iya’s mother was a survivor of the Hiroshima atomic bombing. She could share very intimate stories directly about her family.
Our Tour was with James, smart articulate and very knowledgeable, gave us the entire history of the area and background before we even went to the museum, plus a little more Thanks James, excellent day Regards Bruno
This was a perfect introduction to Hiroshima. A lovely tour of the beautiful Japanese gardens, followed by an informative tour of the incredibly memorable Peace Park. Aya was a delight! Her mother was a atomic bomb survivor and she was extremely informative. She truly gave us a personal view of this immense human tragedy. Thank you Aya.
Toshi was an amazing guide. He provided a personal touch to the tour, history and city. The museum was crowded with school children, but it was still a must see visit.
We are 2 couples in our 70's. We don't walk fast, we don't hear well, we are not adept at figuring out the buses in a strange town in a foreign language. So - a professional guide is a great help. Added to that is that we get to meet a local person and hear more about the area than we ever would traveling on our own. And the price, compared to a big HAL bus tour, is quite competitive. We went to the garden - which was beautiful - and Kazuko explained the history and significance of the layout (like climbing Mt. Fuji and the survivor tree) - things I might never have known if I were on my own reading the signs. She then walked us to a bus stop with an incomprehensible to me schedule sign, and told us our bus would be there in 10 minutes, and it was. We went to the Atomic Bomb Dome memorial and she walked us around there. She found a great place for the old folks (us) to rest and get some ice cream. She then led us through the museum, having prepped us about 3 special exhibits she highlighted. The museum had a bigger crush of people than we are used to, it was worse than visiting the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. Kazuko guided us through the crush and showed us some key exhibits, and got us out of there in one piece. She was great. She got us into a cab headed back to the correct dock for our ship. It made for a perfect day for us. I'm sure younger folks could cover more ground. The tour can be customized to fit the fitness and ambition level of the group you are with.
A poignant and well-planned 4hrs to the most important sites in Hiroshima. The museum, Atom Bomb domb, and then a much-needed calming reset at a magnificent Japanese garden.
Very educational but very sad at the same time. Be prepared to be affected by the material and stories on display. Excellent information from our guide Nao.
Our day in Hiroshima was very enjoyable. We met our lovely and knowledgable tour guide Mayumi who greeted us at the Hiroshima train station. Our family of 5 had a private tour and we added the castle and surrounding market/shrine area to the existing itinerary. There was plenty of walking and the hop on/hop off bus made transit easy. Our tour ended up a 5 hour tour, instead of the proposed 4 hours. We could have spent much longer at the museum/final stop. It was a thought provoking and informative day. Mayumi answered so many questions we had and we will never forget our memorable day. We highly recommend the tour.
Our guide, Mayumi, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Just be prepared to walk a lot, we walked over 9 miles that day, with stops of course to see the sights.
This was a very educational tour. Learned a lot about Hiroshima history, especially just before, and after the atom bomb was dropped.
A very good way to see the Shukkeien Garden and Peace Park Museum and memorial. Local guide with vast knowledge and good English
It was a good tour. Our guide Mayumi was very nice however we would have liked the tour to be a bit more structured and informative.
We booked the 4 hr Hiroshima private tour a month before departure. A week before flying, Mrs. Minami Koh contacted us through Whatsapp. Mrs. Koh wanted to make sure we knew how to get to the meeting point coming from Tokyo. This was very reassuring and we felt we were in great hands. Upon arrival, our guide - Mrs. Sakamoto - was waiting for us at the Bus station. The trip from Tokyo was very easy and we were happy to meet her. Mrs. Sakamoto spoke perfect English and being a local she was able to share in-depth knowledge about Hiroshima's history and traditions. Our tour focused mainly on the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Park and Museum. But we spent quite a bit of time at the incredibly beautiful Shukkei-en Garden. While traveling from one place to another with Mrs. Sakamoto we couldn't help but notice the beauty all around us and how much Hiroshima has to offer. I wish we had stayed longer... We are grateful Mrs. Sakamoto was very patient with us and shared so much information.
I was interested mostly in the WW2 history aspect of Hiroshima. I was very fortunate to have had Ms. Mayu as my guide. She is a native of Hiroshima, with excellent English, and she threaded a very nice walk through the main locations relevant to the nuclear bomb drop. In addition to explaining the key monuments and events, I very much appreciated her examples of how it affects life even today in subtle ways.
It was very moving. Actually, the most moving part was that our guide’s 95-year-old mother survived the bomb but her mother’s pregnant sister and mother, who were with her, did not. Her mother was trapped under rubble for 14 hours until a passing German priest heard her cries and he dug her out. Being buried is what saved her from the fallout and black rain. When she dies, her name will be placed inside a sarcophagus that’s part of the monument to victims of the A-Bomb.
The best tour guide! We could not recommend it more highly. Thank you so much for an awesome and meaningful experience in Hiroshima.
Our Japanese tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. We had a great tour and thoroughly enjoyed the museum and gardens in particular. Excellent tour guide and highly recommended.
Great personalized 4 hour private tour. We were able to see the peace memorial, the atomic bomb memorial and meyjing island with the floating Torii gate. Our guide was knowledgeable and made sure we made it to our next destination, Kyoto with detail instructions. Wonderful day and great experience! Book it now!!
The tour was excellent in all respects. Organized, efficient, professional. The guide made it a wonderful experience, very informative from an historical as well as cultural perspective.
Go see the Atomic Bomb Dome, and the Peace Memorial Park area before visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Hall museum. Our tour guide, Nao, was very efficient. She was very accommodating, and flexible. We told her we wanted to eat lunch and shop, and took us to YouMe. She gave us dining suggestions, and showed us where to hail a taxi. We got back to the cruise port safely.
Nao was a very sweet and friendly Japanese guide. She proudly explained everything about the Peace Park which is a very moving experience. She was also flexible to deviate from the itinerary because we wanted to eat typical ramen. She was even able to persuade the restaurant to reopen (they had just closed) to serve us. She was patient with out walking difficulties and slow pace. Definitely a good day in Hiroshima.
Noe was an excellent tour Guide. very informative very knowledgeable overall a great guide. would recommend to everyone wanting to see hiroshima and learn about history. thank you so much.
Guide very knowledgeable, very sweet person. Interesting to hear the other sides perspective of the bombing. City and peace park, was beautiful
Koh was terrific. Her tour of the memorial park, museum, and gardens was informative and emotionally moving. Her recommendation to eat Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki was perfect. Lastly, Koh took the time to help us locate and purchase Hiroshima Carp merchandise. It was truly a great tour of a wonderful city. Go, Carps!
Curating a tour to suit your needs with an expert knowledge of the subject,Minami is an absolute ambasador for and passionate about the story that is Hiroshima I highly recommend
Nao was awesome. She took us to the atomic dome and the museum and around the peace park. Knew tons about everything and was super kind and talkative. 10/10
It was a wonderful experience specially for the kids. The guide was thoughtful and knowledgeable and kind specially with the kids. It was a great way for the kids to learn more about world war 2 history and the history of Japan.
My husband and I very much enjoyed our tour with Naoko. She was knowledgeable and personable. She gave us a good perspective of how the impact of the atomic bomb blast continues to be a part of the story of Hiroshima today. The tour of the Shukkeien garden was the perfect way to end the afternoon. We felt welcomed and learned a lot--and bought two great books!
We loved our time in Hiroshima. Our guide was lovely to talk to and she had so much insight into her city! It was humbling to see the museum dedicated to the destruction of Hiroshima by the atomic bomb. Highly recommend this tour.
Haki was an excellent guide, She spoke perfect English, was very knowledgeable and engaging, organized, and pleasant. We highly recommend her.
We booked a private tour of Hiroshima with Minami K. She kindly asked us where we would like to meet and if we had any special requests. She is very knowledgeable about Hiroshima! We relied on her expertise to show us the major sights, including dome building, Peace Park and Museum, and a local Zen garden. She was very helpful in pointing out things we may have overlooked if we had been on our own. Having a private tour was great because we could ask as many questions as we wanted to and could move nimbly between the sights. We enjoyed spending time with Minami and would highly recommend her!
Minami is a wonderful guide. She was superbly helpful to get us our train tickets sorted up first, and then helped pick lunch at the ststion on oir way back. We have the best time with her on the tour. She patiently answered our questions, was very knowledgeable and let us take our time reading through the visuals. Took us the longer way to ensure we got photos of the cherry blossoms. We loved the personalized tour and Minami was just fantastic.
Amazing guide. Very knowledgeable and informative. Was able to show us around despite the heavy rainfall, including some hard to find spots in the city. Would highly recommend,
