Hiroshima Izakaya Food And Drink Night Tour

The guide was superb and the eatery selections were great! Yasu was an extraordinary guide who spoke English very well and connected with each member of our travel group. Young and upbeat with stories of Hiroshima were informative and helpful.

Highly recommend! Yoko took us to restaurants and a sake bar that we never would have gone to on our own. If you're looking for a food tour that gets you past the tourist spots this is a great tour. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

Our experience with Kaku and the Hiroshima bar hopping tour was incredible. Kaku was right on time, was very friendly and spoke good english. Okonmiyaki restaurant was great. We were front and center for the preparation. The owner/cook was friendly despite us having limited Japanese language skills. Kaku bridged the language barrier. The okonomiyaki (and sake) was so tasty. we were not disappointed at the next two restaurants either. I was able to step out of my food comfort zone and tried sushi for the first time... and enjoyed it. Finishing our evening like the Japenese at a Ramen shop was the perfect ending.

What a great experience with Yasu in Hiroshima. Wonderful guide with great local knowledge and so helpful to get us to all the great little restaurants in the city area. We had a group of 7 and we had the best time together on our night out in Hiroshima. Really highly recommended.

Yuji was an amazing guide, super insightful and made our experience feel like he really cared to make the most of our time. He went above and beyond to create an atmosphere that felt genuine and personal. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in exploring Hiroshimas food scene by foot.

This tour was amazing! My partner and I were the only ones on the tour but Yuji was incredible and we had so much fun (Hiroshima is now one of our favorite places). The places he took us to were so different from each other with their own vibes and atmospheres (all very welcoming and fun). Yuji was wonderful at engaging and taking care of us throughout the tour. He was very informative and open to answering any questions we had. We would 1000% recommend this tour and hopefully you are also lucky enough (like us) to have Yuji as your guide!

Hika was a great tour guide. He was personable and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed all of our conversations together. He gave me a lot of insight into Japanese culture and food. The places he chose to take me were all very good, and I had a great time. If I find myself back in Hiroshima again (I certainty hope to), then I wouldn't hesitate to take another tour with him

Kaku was very friendly and thoughtful. He checked in on my dietary restrictions (vegetarian/but flexed for limited seafood for this trip) at each point. The restaurants he took the group to seemed to be local favorites and each had quirky features. The food was tasty, drinks plentiful, and company warm. This was my 3rd food tour with Magical Trip and money well spent.

Kaku, my guide, was very kind. When I showed up for the tour, I was surprised to be the only one on the tour that day. I wondered if this young man would mind hanging out with a middle-aged woman for a few hours, and he could not have been nicer. We went to three different places which included the very traditional local okonomiyaki-truly one of the versions of this dish I have eaten in Hiroshima. Kaku not told me how this dish is made but the historical origins as well.. It was divine, and chef Yamada-san took great care of us in this very tiny restaurant that you would never find on your own. In fact, all of the establishments that we went to felt like hidden gems. I felt like I was eating like a local on this tour.. Our second stop took us to have many different skewered meats-although I believe you could also choose seafood if you would like. I tried different cuts of meat which included diaphragm and other parts of an animal that I have not previously tried. Most of these were quite delicious, and I was glad that I tried them. I am an adventurous eater but there were some things that I did not try, like chicken gizzard. The third stop brought us to a delicious ramen shop. I would suggest bringing a very reasonable appetite to this tour. You will not go home hungry-but you will definitely go home with wonderful memories feeling like you’ve just met a friend. My guide took pictures of us throughout the tour, some with the Magic Tour sign and some just of me and the various servers at the restaurants or the two of us, or me alone. I believe that you can provide permission for the company to use your photos, but you do not have to do this. Kaku’s English was flawless. He said that he was using the tour guide position to help improve his English skills; however, I honestly thought that he was nearly fluent. Very few words were difficult for him to easily recall. I found it very easy to converse with him. The only negative thing I have to say is that it is difficult to find the meeting spot, at least for me. I did use the Google Maps locator that was provided on Tripadvisor, and the company did call me to help me get to the destination, but I had suggested to my guide that a landmark based starting point would be helpful for foreign guests in the future. We met right in front of the Gucci store, and had someone told me that, it would have been much easier than trying to find specific coordinates or a map address that was not bringing me to the spot I needed to be. Aside from this very minor administrative wrinkle that could probably easily be solved, the tour is so worthwhile and I would recommend it to anyone .

Sayu was an awesome guide and the food was great! On my 2-week trip I visited Tokyo, Hiroshima, Osaka, and Kyoto, and the okonomiyaki I ate on this tour was one of the best things I ate all trip. If you're in Hiroshima, this tour is a great way to try the local food, especially the okonomiyaki!

Kaku was an excellent guide. He took us to some hidden (to us) spots and introduced us to some new dishes that were delicious. If you are hungry this is the tour for you - we were extremely satisfied. I recommend this tour with Kaku if you are In Hiroshima.

Had a fantastic evening of food and drink adventure with RIO, from the best pancake to an enjoyable pork sandwich plus unique sushi and a plump and jiggly desert we had a blast. RIO was lovely and really looked after us… thanks for a great time :)

This was truly a food and drinking tour focusing on local spots and local cuisine. Yoko was a wonderful guide and has lived in the area most of her life. She joyfully shared some personal stories and by the end we felt like we had known her a long time. This was special. We got to a Saki tasting at the end too!

So grateful to our guide Yuji who make the evening amazing. He was knowledgeable, friendly, eager to answer all our questions, and genuinely interested in helping us understand the local culture and history.

This was such a fun food tour!! Kaku was so fun and he told us tons of information about Japanese culture, his life, and Hiroshima style food. The okonomiyaki izakaya was INCREDIBLE. The chef was so nice and fun, and he cooked it right in front of us and let us eat off the grill. The restaurant staff even came outside to take a picture with us! Such a fun night, amazing food, and really nice people!

This was a great way to spend time with some new faces, and to be exposed to a more local experience. Hika, our guide, was so fun and easy to talk to and be with, and offered so much information on things we might not have known about food and life in Japan. Really fun experience, a change of pace from the typical tourist things to do!
