This was an excellent tour combining the important and emotional history of the A bomb effects on the populace of Hiroshima (a must see for understanding the tremendous lethality of nuclear weapons), with the natural beauty of Miyajima Island. I'm glad that we went from the intensity of the nuclear sites to the natural beauty of Miyajima in the afternoon. And the okonomiyKu lunch interlude was fun and tasty! Out guide Minari was excellent. A memorable day.

Itinerary
When Japan joined the UNESCO World Heritage Convention in 1992, people including a-bombed survivors began to raise their voice in support of making the A-bomb Dome a World Heritage Site. A national campaign to collect signatures conducted by the citizens of Hiroshima was a success, and it was designated as a national historical site in June 1995 and registered on the list of World Heritage Sites in 1996 as a symbol calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons and for world peace.
On August 6, 1949, with enactment of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial City Construction Law, it was decided that the entire Nakajima District would be devoted to "peace memorial facilities," and that was the beginning of what is now Peace Memorial Park. The park covers approximately 122,100 square meters. It was designed by Kenzo Tange, a professor at Tokyo University, and three others, whose proposal was selected through a design competition that drew 145 proposals. At the south edge of the park is a line of three buildings: the East Building and the Main Building of the Peace Memorial Museum, and the International Conference Center Hiroshima.
Peace Memorial Museum. Consisting of two buildings, the museum surveys the history of Hiroshima and the advent of the nuclear bomb. Its main focus though is on the events of August 6: the dropping of the bomb and its outcome in human suffering. The personal details displayed are quite upsetting and serve to remind that we should not take peace for granted. ※If Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is closed, we will take you to visit Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims instead. *Days Closed Dec 30–31, 2026 and February 15-20, 2027.
The shrine is located in a small inlet, while the torii gate is set out in the Seto Inland Sea. Paths lead around the inlet, and visitors enjoy walking along them while looking out onto the sea. After sunset, the shrine and the torii gate are illuminated daily until 23:00, providing a perfect backdrop for ryokan guests to enjoy an evening walk in yukata and geta sandals. It is not possible to enter the shrine after sunset though. 1 hour is lunch time . The mid-movement time is about 30 minutes.

We did the 1 day tour to Hiroshima and Miyajima. The entire trip was seamless. The directions and instructions were very clear. Our tour guide, Momo was very kind and friendly. She gave us enough time in all the places. We had a wonderful Indian lunch. The overall trip was wonderful.
Great value for money. Knowledgeable helpful, courteous guides. Very organized, good use of time. Fabulous lunch!
Booked with Japan Panoramic Tours.y 2nd tour with them. Tour was really exceptional. Our guide, Marin was awesome. In this business interpersonal skills really make a difference. Marin has outstanding interpersonal skills. She is a tremendous asset to your company
A solemn experience but difficult to understand tour guide. Very stark contrast to our earlier tours to Mt. Fuji and Kyoto.
Good 2-part tour. Hiroshima Peace Park was a great place, though it was a little crowded, lots of school children. The Peace Museum has a large permanent exhibition of photos, artefacts and records, maybe take care deciding whether to bring kids here. But for us the real highlight was Miyajima, we would have loved to have spent more time there. Our guide was great, lots of information and interesting stories to share.
Was very well organised and an enjoyable day. Our guide Tomoe Ishihara was incredible, she gave us a lot of information about the sights and history. She was very engaging on the bus, shared interesting facts about Japan in general. She was very thoughtful and came with us to the train station to make sure we managed to change our train departure time. We really appreciated it... arigatou gozaimasu
The guide that took us was awesome Best tour of my holiday so far Enjoy it and her knowledge was superb
An amazing experience and wonderful guide. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this tour. It was highlight of our two weeks Japan travel.
A very moving first part of the day. Peace Park was a very moving experience. Miyajima was also very interesting.
Miss Azusa was a great guide! She explained just what happened then. I realized it is not the time for justifying, grudging or blaming
The guide was very informative. We had an issue finding the location but the company was very patient and spoke to us over the phone to ensure that we got on the bus.
Azusa san was knowledge and funny! We learnt and saw so much. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see Hiroshima’s highlights.
It was an awesome experience. The Peace Memorial is a must for every visitor to Japan. The Miyajima island is also not to be missed. Our guide Takane was very good in managing our group and provided all the necessary historical information needed to understand the sites we visited. Our bus driver, Mr. Yamamoto, made the trip even more memorable by making each one of us a paper crane and a paper shurikin ; it was such a sweet gesture!
Hiroshima was our amazing tour guide. She was very informative and took her time explaining all of the historical sites and even kept us entertained on the tour bus. Would definitely recommend her.
Interesting and thought provoking experience. Guide, Kane, did a great job. Miyajima Island a very pleasant and worth visiting. Lunch food great
Good trip for seeing Hiroshima and the shrine. Friendly staff and Kane is a great guide. Food stop was surprisingly good and different
Great transportation and communication from the organizers! We always knew the time limits and pickup points; plenty of time in each place. They were even able to accommodate our luggage and alternative dropoff!
Excellent informative trip to Hiroshima memorial and museum; an important trip for every person to do. Miyajima was wonderful! Tom, our tour guy, spoke an excellent English. He was friendly, funny, organized and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend him and the tour.
Hiro was an absolute gem, showed us lots on the bus rides and seemed to know a little bit about everything Hiroshima. Definitely recommend if you feel like having some good lunch and learning something new.
The two main places of interest in Hiroshima are covered with enough time for self exploration as well. The guide was awesome as well. The okonomiyaki experience was a let down for me as it was not fresh. It was served before I took the seat.
The guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and very gentle. Explained all the historical facts and informationed needed.
Guides where very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information that i wasn’t aware about, definitely recommend
The experience is fantastic. You will see the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park with the museum, and all tickets are included. Lunch is included. The ferry to Miyajima island tickets are included and everything is done by bus. This is ideal if you are staying in Hiroshima. For other places (i.e.: Osaka or Kyoto) you need to add approximately U$S 200 per person for the Shinkansen train (bullet train).
The tour guide always makes or breaks a tour. Hiro did a super job for us. She is from Hiroshima, and the pride she had in her city was evident our entire trip.
Good day trip, the guide Hiro was very professional, informative and helpful. Alot was cover in this day trip, so it felt really worthwhile.
Well organised tour . Guide was very knowledgeable and easy to understand . No hesitation in recommending this tour.
I arrived from Osaka on the bullet train for this eight hour day in Hiroshima and Miyajima Island. The two guides met the group there at the gate and I was so glad. We went to the bus and got out and did a walking tour with the guide, giving us commentary on amplifier microphones and an earpiece so we could hear what he was saying (English tour) . Saw the peace memorial museum, children’s museum and of course the bomb site. It was so special. We had lunch at a very Japanese little teppanyaki-type local place and were served okynamiyaki. We went back on the bus to the ferry to take us over to the island. The guide did another walking tour with commentary of a Shinto shrine and other facts about the island and of course we saw the famous Vermilion Tori Gate. We took the ferry back and headed back to our original starting place at Hiroshima Station. Our guide even helped many of us to redo our tickets for a different time as we got in around 5:30pm and he helped me to go to the right place to purchase mine back to Osaka as I didn’t know what time we would get back. At every stop both he and his assistant counted all of us and made sure we were all together with the group so no one got lost. All in all this was a great tour exactly what I wanted for the day.
Good day out with friendly and helpful guides. Lovely local meal included before the ferry to Miyajima island. Seeing the peace park and the museum was sad and upsetting. One thing that could have been better - the quality of the hearing aid. It was hard to hear the guide as the sound was mumbled
Wasn’t sure what to expect. Don’t really like large, impersonal kinds of tours, but this one was perfect for us. We had a group six among 39 other tourists! Our guide, Hiro, and his assistant were kind and spoke English quite well. Got a good handle on the history of the immediate area around the hypocenter, the museum brought our whole group to tears and Miyajima with Itsukushima shrine were beautiful. We couldn’t have asked for better weather!! All in all a fantastic excursion!
A Deeply Moving and Educational Experience in Hiroshima. The tour left a profound impact. What made this tour truly exceptional was our guide, who shared the personal, first-hand story of her grandparents’ experience during the atomic bombing of the city. Hearing such a deeply personal account brought a human dimension to the history that no textbook ever could. She spoke with grace, emotion, and authenticity, recounting how her grandparents survived the bombing and how it affected their lives and the generations that followed. Her storytelling was not only respectful and sincere but also incredibly powerful—it helped connect the historical facts with the emotional reality of those who lived through it. Walking through the Peace Memorial Park and Museum with her insights gave each stop greater meaning. She answered our questions with patience and honesty, never shying away from the painful truths, but always emphasising the importance of peace and remembrance. We left the tour not only more informed but also deeply moved. It was a humbling experience that we will never forget. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hiroshima who wants to gain a deeper understanding of its history through the lens of personal memory and resilience.
Toe and his assistant Yuki were amazing and so helpful. Their English was great and Toe shared knowledge and personal anecdotes abt the areas visited. Very happy with the experience. All the spots visited were exactly what we wanted to see and expected. Lunch place was cute and delish!
I felt more time was needed at the bomb museum and whilst we enjoyed Miyajima we would have sacrificed time there for the museum
A fantastic tour, out guide was To, and it was his first day and he did a superb job. I can't remember his assistant's name but she was excellent too. The tour was professional and got to see the Peace museum which was moving and powerful and were then taken to Miyajima island which was lovely. Also got to try okonomiyaki which is a must. Want to see more of the city so will definitely be back
Joe was a great guide! The tour was great! Highly recommended!! Of i was change anything, I would have liked more time at the Peace Museum.
A good mix of overwhelming Hiroshima disaster with the Miyajima island. Really well organised. The tour guide and the associated staff were great. The lunch experience was great too
Tomoe was our tour guide, who was so good and knowledgeable and accommodated all our concerns and she made sure she took care of us nicely.
The visit to the Peace Museum is very graphic and can be quite harrowing. In fairness, what do you expect, given the subject matter. It was a very informative tour and Hiroshima is worth visiting in its own right, but it’s not for children, or the faint hearted. Myajima is a pretty place and also worth the visit.
Our guide Jo-guchi was awesome! Very helpful & knowledgeable. He made it clear that even though this was a sad reminder of the past, it is more important to learn from it and move forward in pursuit of peace. Driver & assistant were great as well. This total package was worth it. Transportation, lunch & all entrance tickets were included. Only negative was it was low-tide, so the floaiting torii gate was not as ominous. Still grand though.
This was a great tour. I started in Hiroshima and the tour leader, Tomoe, was easy to find at the train station. We visited peace park and Tomoe gave excellent commentary on the key monuments and memorials. We were on our own in the museum. I appreciated being free to do the museum at my own pace since some of the photos and descriptions were graphic and I skipped some. Lunch was excellent. Bus then ferry to Miyajima. We were guided through the main shrine and had excellent views of the Tori gate. A free hour was plenty of time to shop and explore other sights in Miyajima. I highly recommend this tour with H. I. S. and hope you get Tomoe as a guide. She is organized, personable and knowledgable. Hiroshima and Miyajima are not to be missed.
Well organised trip with lovely well-informed guide. We have liked a bit more time in the Peace Museum. But overall a good trip which I would recommend.
Our guide was so so sweet but her English had strong Japanese accent so could really only understand a few words in each sentence then if we were lucky we could work out what she might be trying to tell us When we arrived at the peace museum where we had an hour allocated the line in was way outside the building, so many people going in and it hardly moved, so had very little time there and so much to see The lunch was good but the rest of the day was just so jampacked Saw the shrine on the island which was impressive then we were advised to use our 1 and half hours on the shopping street which had many gift shops and a few food places There were other sites we would like to have visited on the island but there wasn’t time that should really be longer Many people on the trip had buullet trained in for the day and were therefore very disappointed
Great tour in Hiroshima. Yuka is an amazing tour guide. Very organised, kind and full of knowledge. She gave us alot of information about the city and the monuments visited. The whole team made sure that both large groups were looked after.
This was a great combination of learning and relaxing. Our guide was wonderful--informative and funny. Only real challenge was that the museum was very crowded bc many tours arrived at the same time.
An insight into a very sad part in of world history …. Followed by an amazing and spectacular visit to the island. The Buddhist Temple on the hill is s must see. Incredible building set in s magical place
The bus was comfortable and safe. The tour plan was perfect. Enough time for both places. And our guide was the best! He is kind and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the whole trip.
Trip had great information and was structured well. You got to see the important sites and can a good amount of free time.
This was a highlight of our trip to Japan. Kaori was a marvelous travel guide. She was rich with details and history of the area. The museum was soul stirring. The okonomiyaki lunch was absolutely delicious!
Excellent guide and easy to navigate the meeting spot. The Hiroshima tour was great, along with the museum trip. I highly recommend the okonomiyaki lunch. The trip to Miyajima was also amazing. Great views and great tour.
Very well organized tour and informative. The tour guide Ms Hiro and our driver were very professional and friendly. The meeting point was easy to find. Recommended.
