Shiro is a lovely guide! He took us around many important historical sites and told us about his own family’s story. We really appreciated the tour, thank you Shiro!

Excellent pace; lots of interesting facts and information which help to understand this event. Guide was engaging and fun.
Guide gave us a passionate tour and history of Hiroshima. Being on the bikes was a fun way to explore
It was such an excellent tour and cycling was a really great way to see relevant and dispersed sites across Hiroshima and the bombs impact. Shiro was incredibly knowledgeable and generous with his information and had his own connected story. The tour was on e-bikes which is hopefully for those less used to cycling. Would suggest letting them know in advance if you are tall so they can provide larger bikes, rather than the smaller upright cycle e-bikes. Highly recommend this tour!
This was the perfect way to see the city and understand the history. We had limited time being 1 day so Justin gave us a great tour on easy to ride e-bikes in just 3 hours. Justin also provided some stories which helped us see the real city and people of Hiroshima . Justin was an outstanding guide, highly recommended
Karl was awesome! Very knowledgeable
Shin was amazing! Very knowledgeable from a local’s perspective. Will be requesting him again.
Shin was amazing!!! Very knowledgeable about the area but also had a lot of personal stories which completely made the tour. Some very emotional moments, but would highly recommend for anyone visiting Hiroshima for the first time! Thank you Shin!
Shinn was a great guide! He spoke outstanding English and had a brilliant sense of humour. Most of all, his knowledge and personal / family stories made the whole tour highly memorable and real. Thank you so much Shinn
We joined Shin on the Somioko 3hr cycling tour of Hiroshima (electric bikes) and found it to be fascinating. His commentary was animated and personal which made the tour more profound. He was extremely entertaining and the three hours went by so quickly. We thoroughly this tour, it enhanced our understanding of the history of Hiroshima while allowing us to see hidden parts of the cityscape.
Shin was very animated and regaled us with his stories, and he made the whole experience really enjoyable and educational. The stories brought history to life and the snippets gave glimpses of what it was in the past. He also shared that he was a second generation of survivors from the A-bomb. He also shared his views of why it was important to have peace in the world and not have the war again
Got a lot of great info from Justin. Very happy with the tour.
Exceptional tour. I was genuinely sad when it ended. Our guide Thomas was outstanding, telling the story in the most engaging manner. His passion for Hiroshima was very evident. Thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommended.
It was great because I was the only one who is taking the tour! He was very knowledgeable and gave me detailed information about history and visual images. Although the schedule was a bit longer than we expected, his tour was very informative!
Shiro is a delight. He rode us through the history of Hiroshima. From before the bombing, through the trauma and finally the rebuilding of the city. Fascinating journey. Would highly recommend this bike tour.
Amazing, wonderful, knowledgeable, and charming are all way I can describe Shiro-san who gave me the best tour possible
Easy as electric bikes are used and it is a flat area. I even cycled in a dress! Our guide Shin was amazing and so knowledgeable. He was second generation survivor so his narrative was personal. Perfect weather in October with a gentle breeze. We had a small group which made it more interactive.
Shiro was an exceptional guide. Lots of very interesting information presented very clearly. He was inspirational. We felt safe on the bikes and learnt lots. We kept cool on a very warm day by cycling. Definitely recommend.
My wife and I had a great day with our guide Shin on the cycle tour. Shin was very informative and funny as well which added to the ride. A small group of 4 was perfect as we were able to interact easily with each other. Thank you Shin for a wonderful experience in Hiroshima.
Fun and informative. Great bikes. Flat ride.
Thank you for your interesting experience on a cycling tour! We learn more special places and personal stories.
Great tour guide, learned so much j Including personal history of his family during the war. Happened to rain pretty good, but we all kept going for a lovely experience
Excellent experience, our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. We learnt so much. Well worth the experience.
Shiro was amazing! Great tour if you’re short on time! I highly recommend!
Shin was our guide and did a great job in poor weather. We were supposed to e-bike but because of rain couldn’t. Shin gave a great walking tour that was informative, filled with family anecdotes (as someone who’s family lived during the bomb) and entertaining and respectful at the same time. It was a very well done tour.
Any tourist can use a map and locate the many locations that remind the world of August 1945, but to have guide like Shin takes this to a new level. The many personal experiences from his parents and grand parents left me more inspired than saddened.
We enjoyed a very interesting and informative cycling tour with Shin. He explained the events and aftermaths of the A-bomb in Hiroshima and how it affected his family. He is a great guide and really lives to tell his stories and spread the message of peace.
Karl Was great. Bikes were minimally doable for the price. Seat height could not be adjusted high enough for comfort. Handlebars short and uncomfortable.
I really enjoyed the tour with Shin! He is a very talkative and cheerful person, and I learned a lot from him not only about the history of Hiroshima, but also about the city as it is today. His great sense of humor, funny comments, and personal anecdotes made the whole tour feel relaxed and entertaining while still being very informative. His personal connections to survivors of the atomic bombing added an especially meaningful and personal touch to the experience. The tour lasted around 3–3.5 hours, and thanks to the e-bikes, it was hardly tiring at all. Luckily, I had Shin all to myself, which created a very pleasant and personal face-to-face atmosphere throughout the tour. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about Hiroshima’s history while also getting the chance to explore and see some of the city by bike.
Brilliant was to learn about Hiroshima and its resilience, recovery and humanity. Our guide was passionate about the people of the city and their stories.
The e-bike tour was such a great experience. Shin was knowledgeable, very friendly and his personal stories and anecdotes made the tour so special. Everyone should book with him!
Thank you. The story told re: the history was incredible. Nice pace! Very enjoyable
Karl was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and professional. We would highly recommended this bike tour.
Such an important place, I would definitely recommend this tour. Brings you outside the Peace Park as well which tells you real stories of people that passed & the survivors of this disaster. Bring the history to life.
This was a very meaningful tour for us. Our guide was exceptional. Her interpretation of the horrific bombing allowed space for us to learn about the suffering the people of Hiroshima endured. The message of peace rang clearly throughout the park. Our exceptional tour guide’s grandparents all lived through Hiroshima. She has always lived here and had so many personal stories from her family, nurses and workers they knew. She made it so real and painfully relatable while handling the subject with such grace and respect. There was also a strong message of hope, peace and resilience. Moving through the memorial and the city on bikes was safe and easy, making it accessible to see many points on the tour.
We‘ve made the tour with Shin who gave us a Deep insight into his family‘s history. It was such a bless to be Guided by Shin because on the One Hand he knows Everything about the A-Bombing and on the other side he made it so entertaining that even our 16year old Boy was derply impressed. Thank you, dear Shin! Thank you so much for sharing your Wisdom with us.
It was a great tour and very informative. the company were flexible and managed to get us a three hour tour. Thank you for an amazing time
I truly loved this cycling tour around Hiroshima. It was my first time in the city and Shiro-san very kindly explained the depths of history for which Hiroshima is known. I particularly enjoyed hearing about the war and its subsequent implications for Japan from a local man. He also ensured we regularly took water breaks from the excessive heat! Overall, an amazing tour and I would absolutely recommend it to all.
Karl was an excellent guide with a great knowledge, in english He has a personal, human touch that made the tour a pleasure In addition, he is a safe biker
Chiro was an outstanding guide. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He was also very nice and helpful as we biked around the city.
A fantastic few hours learning all things Hiroshima. Our guide was wonderful and very good at including our children. Possibly the most talkative, friendly and informative guide we have ever had. Highly recommend.
Amazing cycling tour and definitely worth it! You get to see a lot of Hiroshima while learning about the city’s history. But the best part of the tour was our guide, Shin. He was incredibly funny, very knowledgeable, and shared everything in such an engaging and entertaining way. He made the whole experience both educational and a lot of fun. Highly recommended!
We had a great morning with Shin. We learned a lot about Hiroshima, but he was actually the best part. He tells the story of how his family experienced the atomic bomb in such a beautiful way. He tells everything very theatrically, which makes it really fun.
We had an excellent experience on the Hiroshima cycling tour with Sokoioko Tours, and our guide Karl was outstanding. The tour was incredibly informative, combining the history of Hiroshima with personal stories from the post-atomic bomb period that made the experience deeply moving and memorable. Exploring the city by bicycle was a brilliant idea. It allowed us to comfortably visit all the major atomic bomb memorials and landmarks while getting a real feel for Hiroshima today. It was the perfect balance of history, culture, and seeing the city from a local perspective. Karl was knowledgeable, engaging, and sensitive in the way he presented such an important chapter of history. By the end of the tour, we came away with a much deeper understanding of both Hiroshima's tragic past and its inspiring recovery. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hiroshima—it's one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.
This was hands down the biggest highlight of our recent Japan trip. It combined all the elements our family loves to enjoy together: history, exercise/biking, and travel perspectives that help us have a better view on life and the world. We enjoyed our time with Moe, who is an absolutely awesome guide. There is no history that is better than personal history and she so generously shared hers (multi-generational Hiroshima family including during WWII) with us to help us understand the lessons of Hiroshima. Her family’s story of survival and the time before the war helped highlight the very human lives that all people lead and strive for, independent of politics or nationalism. It is for humanity’s sake that peace and history need to be shared, to avoid human tragedy, again. Our family finds that message very powerful and this tour was great to help share it with my little one so he can learn it by teaching, rather than having to live it or watch it happen, again. I only hope other families everywhere get to experience the same powerful message. The biking tour was at a perfect pace and covered a lot. We even stumbled upon a school trip and impromptu presentation and dedication from a farther away Japanese middle school. It is nice to see that the next generation has such dedication to history, too. It was great to hear their songs of peace. I highly recommend this tour, as we were able to see and do more than the walking tours.
10 out of 10. Informative and fun for the whole family. Electric bikes were great and tour subject matter was age appropriate for ages 10 and up.
Our Guide was Moe, she did a great job. She was able to give us a lot of insights into Hiroshimas tragedy, but also to the current everyday life. You see different parts of the city. We enjoyed the tour and especially her hint for a delicious Okonomiyaki.
Our guide (Karl) was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and friendly, really easy to talk to, did a great job of helping the two of us find key places and understand the stories that were attached to them.
Karl was knowledgeable and friendly
Shiro was a great guide and the tour was really informative. I can totally recommend it. As a local, he could also tell us the story of what his family experienced when Hiroshima was destroyed by the A-Bomb.
