Ryan was great really gave a good overview of Hiroshima and living there.
Ryan and Kimmy were very warm, welcoming, and friendly as guides, but best of all - knowledgeable! They showed us some great food (especially the okonomiyaki) but we also got a great sense of the area, found a lot of spots to return to the following day, and received a bounty of helpful knowledge regarding how to travel around Japan. We feasted on great insights and great food alike - I can honestly say Hiroshima is the town we’ll remember above all others on our Japan trip now!
I did the Best of Hiroshima Food tour on Sunday 14 September with Miyuki as our guide. She was excellent. Her English is very good and it is good to have a local guide who is so knowledgeable and nice. The itinerary was good. We got to sample a range of Japanese food at different restaurants, along with craft beer and locally made saki and wine. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. A special thank to Miyuki for a top job.
Had an amazing food tour through Hondori street in Hiroshima. Taken to hidden gems that we would have never stopped at on our own. Went to an authentic local stall where Hiroshima okonomiyaki was made in front of us and also ate some local oysters. It was definitely a lot of food and was very fun. Would definitely recommend this tour.
We couldn’t recommend this tour enough, Olivia (our guide) was extremely lovely and took us on a tasty tour around Hiroshima where we were able to try foods that we never would have, if not for the tour. All of the food was delicious and the drink pairings were perfect and we had a lovely evening. We were even treated to some lovely gifts and souvenirs from local shops in between our food stops. I would definitely book this tour.
Mimi was an absolute gem ! Local gal with an abundance of insight and knowledge of the area and cuisine. We were taken on a great adventure and enjoyed the local delicacies. Miyuki brought a personal touch and openness to our experience. We are grateful for sharing time with Miyuki 🙏
The tour delivered as promised on providing a wide range of food options from across town - we were stuffed! But what made it great were the sights and sounds from the many neighborhoods and different types of eating establishments that we stopped at - a feast for all senses. And our guide kept things so relaxed throughout the evening- no sense of rushing. It was a great night out.
Our friendly and informative guide, Miyuki, introduced us to flavors of Hiroshima that we never would have found on our own. It was a fun experience - we would highly recommend Miyuki!
Nagi was a fantastic guide who provided a deeper understanding of the food by explaining its origins alongside insightful conversations about Japanese life and culture. This tour offered a unique glimpse into a side of Japan that many tourists miss, making it a must for anyone seeking an authentic slice of the local food scene. The itinerary was diverse and well-paced, featuring several memorable highlights: Trendy Craft Brewery: A surprising find in Japan, offering tasty beers with a local twist paired with excellent snacks. Sake Tasting: An educational session exploring various sake varieties and subtle flavors, accompanied by perfectly paired small dishes. Okonomimura: Our personal favorite was visiting this multi-story building filled with small restaurants, where we enjoyed an incredible meal at a teppanyaki stall.
Masa provided us with a great experience of Hiroshima food and culture. We experienced a local beer brewery, sake bar, pastries & the highlight was the best okonomiyaki in Hiroshima! Masa was very generous with his time and ensured our tastes were catered for. This tour costs a lot more than other food tours and, whilst we enjoyed it and Masa was great, I’m not sure it is worth the money.
Aleef Daniel was an incredible tour guide! He shared with us his favorite local Hiroshima cuisines (okonomiyaki was our favorite) and was very knowledgable about the foods and the area. He was nice and very easy to get along with, from start to finish. We had an incredible time and would do this tour again!
We really enjoyed the variety of food and sights on this tour. Guiding is so beneficial when you are in a city you are not familiar with. In three hours we saw and tasted things that we may not have found in a week of searching. Our guide Ami was fantastic too. Would highly recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Hiroshima nighttime tour with Miyuke. She was incredibly knowledgeable and interesting as well as interested in us and our experiences. She showed us some great places to eat and drink and made our short stay in Hiroshima very memorable. Arigato!
My husband & I ust finished a food tour and a great one at that. Ryan from Arigato gozaimasu was not only passionate about the food of Hiroshima and has found some special off the touristy track experts to share their specialties, he was an interesting person to share 3 hours with. He went the extra mile to teach us about the areas foods, introduce us to the small craft beer scene, educate us on the different sakes and their food pairings, help us pick out some unique snack food for later, then brought us for an amazing local Okonomiyaki experience topped off with desert of course. It’s the food tour you hope for and that AI will never replace!
Very entertaining and interesting food tour with Olivia and Ryan. We were treated to the best of Hiroshima food and the food -go -to spots. Would definitely recommend this tour!! Lots of fun and laughter while enjoying the cuisine.
Aleef was our Guide in Hiroshima Not only was he extremely knowledgeable but also wonderfully engaging! He introduced us to Okonomiyaki (the Hiroshima signature ditch )in a building packed with sit down/bar restaurants!Fascinating We went to a number of other restaurants and finished way over his allotted time at the Hiroshima Octoberfest! We would recommend a guiding trip with him to anyone He really made our day! David &Petra
Olivia, our wonderful guide, showed us a side of Hiroshima that we did not even know existed. She was friendly, highly knowledgeable and really happy to answer any of our questions. We had a wonderful couple of hours in her company and learnt so much and we ate too much but it was so worth it.
We did this tour and Nagi was our guide. Her English was very good and as a local Hiroshima girl she was able to take us to some fantastic places, a craft Japanese brewery, with some sides to eat, the sake tasting shop was excellent and the mushroom mousse we had as a side was incredible! Lastly we went to the 4th floor of the okonomimura building to try the traditional okonomiyaki at a specific eatery that has its own special noodles made for it - it was amazing! Do this tour - highly recommend!!
I had such a great time on this food tour with Ami as our guide. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. We stopped at so many different places to try a variety of foods, including a quirky vending machine stop that I absolutely loved! On top of the food, Ami also took us around some fantastic stores, which added even more to the experience. I really enjoyed this tour and would definitely recommend it.
A great fun evening with Aleef. He was knowledgeable and very informative and kept the tour informal and fun. From the vending machine culture to Hiroshima oysters, Sake tasting and the local treat of Okonomiyaki, we covered a wide selection of food and venues. All those hidden away places up stairs and down alleys become immediately accessible.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Best of Hiroshima food tour with Kaku. We visited some great bars, especially the sake one, and he even made a slight detour to a pet store along the way so our toddler could see the animals (our son was thrilled). We would definitely recommend this tour as it was one of our highlights.
What a lovely experience! Ryan was engaging, knowledgeable, flexible and easy to be around. He showed us everything from Yakitori to Pizza Vending Machines (yes, really) to Okonomiyaki and everything in between. We had a blast!
Ami was our terrific guide to the great food of Hiroshima. We started at a vending machine which was a hilarious and delicious start as Japanese vending machines are renowned. We proceeded through the evening trying different venues, food, and drinks, with some interesting sites added in. Ami is a knowledgeable and delightful guide - we felt like we were on a pub crawl with a friend. Super fun night.
Fantastic tour with a great mix of history, food and sake. Ryan was an excellent guide - punctual and a great communicator. He was happy to share lots of info about what it is like living in Hiroshima as well. Thank you!
We had a good time tasting different foods and drinks in Hiroshima with our guide Ryan. Had a bite of our first okonomiyaki and taiyaki, as well as wonderful sake! Ryan was friendly and happy to guide us around the city, as well as giving tips about Japanese culture like table manners. Thanks so much Ryan!
This was a great food tour. Ryan is a native English speaker and is very knowledgeable and fun. He introduced us to a number of local specialties, including okonomyoki, locally brewed beer and yakitori fresh off the grill. Along the way, he pointed out some easily missed attractions, such as a pizza vending machine and a shop selling fine calligraphy pens. Highly recommended!
We had a great tour with Ryan. A really interesting selection of venues and food/drink choices with something for all the family. Ryan was knowledgeable and entertaining, and we had a lot of fun. Highly recommend.
Ryan and Ami took us on a most enjoyable evening food tour in Hiroshima - not only delicious local food, but a fascinating series of snapshots of the local culture. Our guides were both super friendly and very well -informed. Thank you so much!!
The food tour was wonderful! Olivia was great and we throughly enjoyed the food. She was very thoughtful about taking us to a variety of restaurants, giving us an opportunity to try much of what Hiroshima has to offer. We were paired with a couple from Australia and they were a lot of fun.
Absolutely LOVED this food tour! Our guides were amazing and did a great job catering to our family's interests. They also shared a lot more about the area and gave us some great recommendations.
I had a great time in Hiroshima with Olivia. The tour was really casual with a focus on food and a great mix of stops along the way. I also got some great tips for the rest of my time in Hiroshima!
Great experience even with small kids! Lots of food. Guide was helpful and organized. Husband also did one in Osaka that was really good without kids given later at night. Great communication across the board on where to meet. Highly recommend!
We had a fun evening with our guide Naru who took us to a number of interesting and quirky stores as well as four food locations where we enjoyed having local food and local beer and sake to get a real taste of Hiroshima and get to meet and chat with the proprietors of those restaurants who usually prepared the meals in front of us. We also got a sense of life in Hiroshima today , which we really appreciated.
The advertisement of the tour made it look like we were be a small group but we were the only couple. The tour guide barely spoke English and had even forgotten to book the second stop restaurant. My spouse and I decided to cut it short at that point and simply stop everything. We lost a lot of money as this food tour was very expensive. Very disappointing to say the least….
We had a wonderful, delicious tour of Hiroshima food stops with guides Miyako and Masako from this company. We learned about many aspects of what we were eating and drinking, and their choices of stops were well-planned and creative. We did not know you could buy both momiji manjyu cakes and real oysters from vending machines, for example! The choice of the Okonomiyaki restaurant could not have been better - so very delicious and an incredibly friendly and warm family cooking for us - it was absolutely delightful. Our whole evening was wonderful and lots of fun. We highly recommend this company.
What a fantastic evening in the company of our sparkling and super-friendly guide, Miyuki! I think the highlight was the Okonomimura, in a tiny and very lively upstairs bar - but it was also lots of fun to do a Sake tasting, visit a small brewery, and some souvenir snack shopping in one of the longest-established food stores of Hiroshima. Aside from the food and drinks though, what really made the evening was our wonderful guide - thanks so much Miyuki, you really brought Hiroshima to life for us!
All of us had a great time chatting and visiting several interesting places. I liked the Iyokan(citrus)tonic(a soft drink) very much. The taste was good and the story how it was grown and made was fascinating. Thank you Arigatou Japan and the tour guides for the day!!
My husband Gareth and I had the best time with Miyuki on our tour. It was our first time in Hiroshima and it was great to be able to see some sights and get some history along side alot of lovely food . It was just my husband and I work Miyuki and she was so lovely - I would highly recommend .
The Best of Hiroshima Food Tour was a fun and filling experience! Tetsuo's pride and excitement for his town's food and drinks were clear from the onset. This tour ended up being a private tour - at no extra cost to us - which made it even more personalized. That said, this being our second experience with Arigato, it would not have made a huge difference because Arigato's guides are always attuned to the current group they are leading. Thank you, Tetsuo, for a terrific experience.
There were no group tours available so I emailed Arigato and they very quickly responded and organised a private tour for me. I Had a brilliant tour with Tetsuo-san, visiting some funky places (soy sauce popcorn and retro games anyone?!) as well as trying some more traditional snacks and drinks. Tetsuo-san was super knowledgeable, as well as very friendly and easy to talk to. The three hours flew by. I highly recommend this tour, everything about it was great, and I really appreciated the small tweaks for my pescatarian preference.
We had an excellent tour with Ryoko (sorry if this is spelt incorrectly). She was a super-fabulous guide- lots of fun and full of information. And the food was extremely yummy. We ate at a lot of places that we probably wouldn't have ventured into by ourselves. We learnt a lot, ate a lot and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to explore parts of Hiroshima and eat away from the tourist haunts.
Hugh was our guide through the Hiroshima food tour. He was an informative and lovely gentleman! We had a wonderful night full of laughs and Fabulous food! The final desert was the specialty of the night! We would recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see the side of Hiroshima we wouldn’t normally see just wandering around by ourselves.
Steve, our tour guide, did a great job of planning the tour so me, my husband, and our 10 year old all loved it. It is Golden Week, so everything was very crowded, but he had reservations to make everything go smoothly. The okonomiyaki was amazing at the first stop. The second stop was noodles that you dip in a spicy sauce. The third stop was in the okonomiyaki building where we ate teppanyaki. At that stop we sat around a flat top griddle where they were making the okonomiyaki right in front of you. We all enjoyed the show. The last stop was a green tea stop, which was our least favorite. We were hoping for the maple shaped confections Hiroshima is famous for, but we had at least tried one in Miyajima. Steve was knowledgeable and entertaining! We enjoyed the tour.
