About Activity
On this 5-hour tour, you will explore the unique Dyer Island ecosystem of Gansbaai, Sharks, Whales, Dolphins, the Cape fur seal, and the endangered African Penguin. Experience a fun and educational journey of this marine world with our onboard marine biologists. The Southern Right Whales that migrate here from the sub-Antarctic islands are our focus between June to November, these whales visit the sheltered areas of the bay to mate and calve. We also enjoy seeing migrating Humpback Whales and Brydes Whales. We have three dolphin species that move through these waters, the Common dolphin, the Bottlenose, and the Humpback dolphin. Gansbaai is world renowned for the iconic Great White Sharks that visit the bay. We also see Bronze Whaler Sharks with their shimmering gold colour. The 60.000 strong Cape Fur Seal colony on Geyser Rock is a sight to behold. Dyer Island is classified as an Important Bird Area and is home to breeding colonies of the endangered African Penguin, as well as other seabirds.
