The hotel has amazing views, great amenities and great attention to details. All the staff were very nice and helpful when it comes to recommendations around Hermanus. The food was delicious, with fair prices! I will definitely come back and would recommend anyone to stay at TTH hotel.
Our stay at Thatch House Hermanus was truly unforgettable. We arrived on Saturday to glorious sunshine, enjoying the property at its absolute best, while Sunday remained calm if a little grey. But by Sunday night, the weather had dramatically turned, with torrential rain and winds exceeding 60mph creating exceptionally difficult conditions. Despite the severity of the storm and the challenges it brought, the team at the Thatch House were nothing short of extraordinary. Their kindness, professionalism and unwavering commitment to their guests never faltered. In the midst of what was clearly a very demanding situation, they continued to provide exceptional care, warmth and reassurance. What stood out most was not just the beauty of the property itself, but the remarkable people behind it. Their resilience, generosity and genuine hospitality transformed what could have been a stressful experience into one defined by comfort, safety and gratitude. Luxury is one thing – but true hospitality reveals itself in difficult moments, and Thatch House delivered it in abundance. We left immensely thankful and full of admiration for the entire team.
We had a 65th birthday lunch - ++ 5 star - it was out of this world , the food was absolutely amazing - we had all the starters , the mains were the best , deserts excellent - compliments to the chefs.. the service was "like we have a personal butler" from Meacela - she was on cue , one step ahead and very very professional all round. And the venue is amazing - we sat at the back / pool area overlooking the mountain due to a bit of wind and was so lovely and protected --well done THATCH HOUSE !!
We had a stunning 2 night stay here. First off, it’s a really beautiful property set by a stunning lagoon and the rooms are huge, clean and kitted out to a very high standard. The staff were very on-hand and extremely accommodating. We really enjoyed the kayaking (on site), game of tennis and just relaxing in a stunning setting. With Hermanus 15 mins drive away and the wine valley only a little further, it is also a great place to explore the surrounding area from. A great find!
Thatch House is one of those places that takes you by surprise. Tucked away in Hermanus on the road to Stanford, it’s surprisingly unknown to most people — which, to me, is mind-blowing, because it’s truly one of the best places to stay in the area. Imagine sitting on the deck with a chilled drink in hand, overlooking the lush lawn and calm water, surrounded by greenery and birdsong. It’s a haven for anyone seeking peace, space, and that rare feeling of a premium home away from home. I’ve seen many beautiful places, but there’s something about Thatch House that makes me never want to leave. It’s perfect for couples, families, or groups of friends wanting a refined yet relaxed getaway. Many rooms have interleading bedrooms — ideal for families with kids — and most offer incredible views, all close to the spacious porch where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner while the kids run freely on the lawn. Down by the deck, there’s a jacuzzi and boats for exploring the lagoon — or, if you prefer mountain views, you can relax by the pool or enjoy a game of tennis. The restaurant is absolutely stunning, with double-volume ceilings, two fireplaces, and a cozy private bar overlooking the garden and water. Upstairs, an honesty bar is stocked with exceptional local wines. The food is outstanding, and the service impeccable — warm, thoughtful, and always one step ahead. In my massive suite, I even had a private sauna with views over the lawn and lagoon — an unexpected luxury that made the stay unforgettable. And not to forget the incredibly fluffy towels, the fully stocked wine bar, and the huge bed that made me sleep like a princess. If you’re looking for a private, spacious retreat with beautiful design, serene surroundings, and a touch of understated luxury — Thatch House is it.
