It was our best experience staying at the hotel. The staff were friendly. Food was nice. I suggest you all to try once.

3.5–4 star experience being sold as 5-star. We paid R5,000 per night for a deluxe room and were extremely disappointed with the room. Unless you book a sea-facing room, your view is of a barren space or parking lot, something not transparently shown on the website, which mainly markets the sea views. For this price, it felt oversold. Check-in was unpleasant and unhelpful. When we raised concerns about the deluxe room and asked to speak to the manager, we were told he had gone home and won’t take out call. Upon requesting a sea facing room we were asked to pay an extra R1,000 per night. After about 30 minutes of back-and-forth, we were eventually moved one floor up to a junior suite with a slight sea view which was better, but still not what you expect at this rate and it didn’t need to take such negative engagements and time to find a solution. Despite its 5-star positioning, the experience didn’t match: cheap toiletries, generic decor, dated interiors, and a substandard welcome and staff engagement. A 5-star hotel shouldn’t charge premium prices while overlooking a parking lot. Positives: comfortable bed, clean room, great aircon, excellent location, plus a one-hour late check-out on request and takeaway breakfast which we appreciated. Overall, not worth R5k per night. I wouldn’t recommend it at this price point, even though the location is great.
Don’t understand all the great reviews - the hotel is fairly priced but not a 5 star hotel. The staff were very nice and we thought service was great. However, our room was constantly DAMP! The carpets felt damp, the towels felt damp, even our bedsheets one day was damp and we had to blow dry it to sleep in it! The room also directly looked out onto a roundabout so was heavy traffic and didn’t get privacy when we had our curtains open for the views. Breakfast was fairly mediocre. Staff were really lovely and it’s in a great location, and we think we paid a good price but it now makes sense why it was cheaper than others - not a 5 star hotel and the amazing reviews don’t make sense to me
Very spacious and comfortable room. Very clean. Comfortable bed and good shower. Also effective AC. Breakfast selection was good and hot items were delicious both days. Only minor improvement was the entry/exit as the ring doorbell was broken, but they did not advise of this, so had to wait before using the vehicle entrance. If you must lock guests in/out there needs to be a simple system for them to gain access.
I had the pleasure of staying at One Marine Drive in Hermanus, a five-star hotel that’s part of the Living Journey Collection. This stunning coastal retreat offers uninterrupted ocean views right from the room—truly breathtaking. The staff were exceptional, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that instantly made me feel at home. The hotel strikes a perfect balance between modern elegance and classic hospitality, with thoughtful touches throughout. The property features two inviting pools and a charming restaurant that serves a delicious breakfast and a light day menu for casual bites. There’s also a well-stocked bar and several cozy lounge areas ideal for relaxing. I can’t recommend this incredible place enough. It would make an especially perfect stay during whale season when Hermanus comes alive with marine activity. Or just perfect if you are a lover of the ocean like I. Enjoy this one!
