I think we got a bad experience as so many people write how lovely their stay was. We arrived at the front gate just before 1 pm. We buzzed multiple times but no one opened the gate. We tried calling their number without luck and texted them. No response … after a 5 minute wait we were ready to abandon our plan of dropping our stuff off when the gate was opened. We drove in parked our car and to our surprise nobody came out to greet us. We timidly walked to what we presumed was the entry door of the main building were the head of the household staff stared us down. We didn’t feel welcome at all, we even seemed to be a nuisance. I explained we just came to drop our bags off if that was okay and we knew we were still an hour early for check-in. At that moment she ushered us in and we did some paperwork in relative silence. She wasn’t very warm and the feeling of being a bother remained. When we came to breakfast I stressed that we were going to whale watch and if it was possible to have early breakfast (we needed to leave at 8:15 and breakfast only started at 8 am ). She said 8 was the earliest, my wife and I asked up to three times that 8 really was the earliest moment which she confirmed. I said if it was possible to have a very fast breakfast in that case which she confirmed. We got our bags and moved them up the stairs. Through the afternoon we heard cars honking which were other guests trying to enter (and visibly also not able to enter) Management at that point send us a text message asking if everything was okay. I told that we would have to be fast with our breakfast but no reply came. Come night we couldn’t sleep as the wind was howling outside and the sound isolation of the room was sub par. The next day, visibly tired, we packed early (since we would only have 15 minutes for breakfast and than we would have to leave). We decided to go to breakfast around 7:50 am as my wife had seen movement in the kitchen. We saw two other guests leaving the breakfast room. Conclusion they had had early breakfast… we rushed our own breakfast and left. The lady who had stared us down yesterday seemed visibly surprised that we wanted to check out already (even though we had told her and management three times about our plans). She told us she would open the gate for us. When we got in our car and were trying to leave she was nowhere to be found, luckily for us two other guests were able to open the gate for us. I think we just got a bad experience but for us this was the first time in SA we truly felt like a nuisance as tourists.

We had a beautiful stay on the 25th of June 2026.it was my birthday, we were spoiled with a fruit basket and chocolate 🍫. The place is cozy , with stunning decor. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back again. The breakfast was delicious.
My husband and I went through for the weekend to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. Upon arrival we were greeted and welcomed so warmly and friendly by Molleen. The breakfast's each morning was delicious and prepared with so much care and love by Molleen and Maria. The management made our stay extra special by leaving a bottle of bubbly, chocolates and a fruitbowl in our room in celebration of our anniversary. Our room was beautiful and cozy. Definitely worth every penny and definitely recommended! Thank you Hermanus Lodge on the Green for making our stay memorable ❤️
Staff were very friendly. Loved the homey feel when we had breakfast. Views were beautiful of the golf course. Rooms felts a bit small. Did not like the bathroom situation. The shower door was a challenge to open and no privacy if you shower at night, very see through especially with a balcony right outside the window. Ants invaded the table where the teas were kept. Overall it was good with some challenges.
We had the most amazing stay at Hermanus Lodge on the Greens. The lodge is literally on the greens (from the lodge porch you walk straight onto the greens. The lodge is well situated and within easy reach of all the local attractions. Rooms have aircon, a mini coffee station, complimentary sherry, luxurious king-sized beds & a balcony with comfy cafē chairs to relax with a book or take in the view of the grand golf greens or the mountain close by. An afternoon dip in the pool or brunch around the pool area was ideal. We loved visiting the Wonderland Lifestyle Centre. This is such a romantic spot. We highly recommend it for a stay to commemorate any special celebration. The staff are wonderfully attentive. Well worth a visit and stay ❤️
