Bamboo Guest House

During our 18-day road trip through Cape Town, the Garden Route and Addo Elephant National Park, we stayed two nights at Bamboo Guest House — and it was honestly one of the biggest positive surprises of our journey. From the photos, we expected it to be lovely. What we experienced was something much more special. Tucked away in a quiet, very safe area of Hermanus, and just a short walk from the breathtaking Hermanus Cliff Path, the location is perfect. But what truly sets this guesthouse apart is the atmosphere — and Teresa and her team. Teresa’s warmth, professionalism and genuine care made us feel immediately welcome. She was always available, incredibly knowledgeable about the area, and happy to share insights about local life and South African culture. That personal touch made all the difference. Our room was spacious, beautifully kept and had extremely comfortable beds — better than many five-star hotels we stayed at before. The breakfast was outstanding: fresh fruit salad and a variety of delicious options that easily matched (if not exceeded) luxury accommodations. We especially loved the inviting common areas — the open living room by the pool with books and games created such a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you want privacy as a couple or feel like chatting with other travelers, the space makes both feel natural. We only stayed two nights, but in hindsight three or four would have been perfect. If we ever return to Hermanus, this is without question where we would stay again. Highly, highly recommended.

Home from home so much though I to providing a quality and enjoyable stay. Great breakfasts lovely pool area and lounges to relax in. Easy walk to town and cliffside walk. More than enough parking and so close to the golf club

Teressa and the entire crew ensured we had a relaxed and peaceful stay. From the check in throughout our entire trip Teressa was always happy to chat with us and give recommendations. We stayed at Bamboo Guest House with our group and had such a great time! The rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable — perfect for relaxing after a day in Hermanus. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the dinner was absolutely delicious — one of the best meals we had during our trip. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Hermanus!
