Itinerary
West Harbour Terminal 2, Tyynenmerenkatu 14, Helsinki Choose from multiple departure times and tour options. Depending upon the day cruise you choose, you can have 4 or 7 hours in Tallinn. Ships on the route are Tallink MyStar and Tallink Megastar. Your ferry crossing to Tallinn takes only 2 hours. Tickets include entry on board and seating. You can spend your time on board visiting one of the restaurants, shopping at the Traveller Superstore, or enjoying the scenery of the archipelago. Once you arrive in Tallinn, we recommend visiting the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is about a 20-minute walk from the Tallinn D-terminal, or you can take a taxi from the terminal building. Please note that you need to check in for the ferry before departure in Helsinki. We recommend arriving at the terminal at least 45 minutes before departure. Check-in closes 30 minutes and boarding 20 minutes before departure. Please check you are carrying valid travel documents.

The ticket is more expensive than booking directly through the cruise company’s website. However, it offers a cancellation option, which I think makes the extra cost worthwhile for the added flexibility and peace of mind.
This was really great but I wish the time in Estonia was longer. There is so much to do and see, we had just enough time for a walking tour before we ran back to the ship. The ship is very nice, very grand for what we were expecting but we loved it. My only complaint is embarking/disembarking is a nightmare and pretty dangerous. Someone could easily get trampled.
The Tallink Mystar and Megastar were both awesome ships to travel on. We were expecting way less than what they were. Essentially cruise ships for the 2 hour crossing. Shops, restaurants, seating everywhere. Absolutely no complaints on this.
Awesome. The ship was huge, spacious and clean.
It was good! I really did like my trip.
This meeting point that was in the confirmation post was not a valid. This Terminal has not been in use for some time. https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=60.1540522%2C24.9209121
Booking this experience is cheaper than booking with the ferry line directly. I’d recommend arriving to the ferry terminal about 45 minutes before departure, just to make sure you get checked in. There are kiosks you can put your reservation number in to check-in or there is a helpdesk if you have trouble. Our ship actually left early going and coming back, so make sure you’re on time or you will get left! I think they close the boarding doors about 20 minutes before departure. Tallin was a lovely town to explore. It was an easy walk from the port down to old town. The ferry is top-notch, very clean. Plenty of places to sit and relax, also plenty of places to purchase food if you want to eat. You can also bring your own food on board.
As others have said, get to the arrival area about 60 minutes early for check-in. Our experience was that the vessel left 15 minutes early both ways. There were many different seating areas, a superstore for shopping, and many food options. Overall, an excellent value.
First, and most importantly, get to the Ferry at least 30mins before departure. Boarding closes 20mins before the departure time. The ferry itself is a beautiful experience with shopping and food options galore, gaming lounges, bars, etc. Talinn is absolutely gorgeous and well worth the visit. This was a phenomenal experience, overall.
Doors open about 0710 and we got the early ferry at 0730. Just sit where you want. Food is good on the ferry lots of choice for everyone. Crossing was smooth both ways. We had no problems at all everything went to plan.
Great trip! Lovely boat, easy to find and navigate the port, quick crossing and easy to get to the old town in Tallinn on arrival. The return trip just as good!
Overall great experience . Loved the food selection
Good means of transportation to/from Tallinn. I just wish the location of the ferry departure in Tallinn was more explicitly indicated in the tour description or the ticket confirmation email. We had to scramble to find it in all of the communications in order to find it on our way back to the port.
It was a sunny day in the summer in Finland. It was time to cruise to Tallinn with a friend. We were on a shopping tour. We ordered an excellent buffa with shrimps, salmon and other fish and meat starters. As main menu I ate codfish and rise and meat balls. As dessert different cakes and ice cream. Good. After the dinner we made our shopping.
Great day trip. Ship was comfortable, clean and run professionally. On time coming and going. I went on the earliest departure and came back on the last transfer.
Beautiful ferry and ferry stations. So clean or orderly! Ferry had so many amenities as well. Highly recommend Tallinn-the medieval old city!
I didn’t get to attend this event. I wanted to adjust the return time from Tallinn, I used support chat with a person last night. They didn’t get an answer to me until 1:10 pm. My departure was due at 10:30. I didn’t want to get on board without knowing I could come back early. So it’s too late for a refund or credit. I couldn’t take the risk getting over to Tallinn and unable to come back. Our flight in the morning is 6:20 am so getting back in 9/30 and traveling back to our stay would have left us with 4 hr sleep.
Ship was amazing, lots of places to eat and drink. Food was excellent, quite high-end. All staff were helpful
So the ferry itself each way was very nice. Think of a mini cruise ship. Shopping, area to get coffee, food. Very nice seating, and that’s just on level we were on. But, I never received the correct emails from the ferry company. So when I showed they didn’t show my reservation (I changed days, got the amended info from Viator). I had to pay again and when returned home got in touch with Viator and they promptly reimbursed me.
Fun way to get to Estonia. The ship is amazing and has lots to do. Getting on and off is easy. I recommend waiting when docking at the back of the ship to watch how they get the cars on and off. It is logistical genius and exciting to watch the ramps come down, the autos leave, and the next round come on. Plus you miss the masses in line to get off. Just leisurely stroll off. The trams and busses are conveniently close by. In Taliin you could take a taxi to Old Town but it is an easy 15 min walk. The employees of the cruise line are very helpful and explain things well. We would do this again just for the ferry/cruise ride back and forth.
Beautiful boat. Left on schedule. Fantastic experience. Estonia is beautiful, well worth the trip. We did the 6.5hrs and it was perfect.
The ferry is spacious, Very good boarding And disembarking Smooth crossing Plenty of variety in board Friendly staff We walked to old town centre Quaint , lovely buildings
It was easy to book and once we got to the ward and on the ferry it was all done - all we had to do was sit back and relax for the 2 hrs whilst on the boat and then explore at our leisure in Tallinn, before getting back on the ferry for the trip back to Helsinki .. no stress .. great day all round
Your should get a map of Tallin with Christmas Market Area delinrated. Also research other sites to visit on your walking tour.
An excellent time with amazing sailing, beautifully decorated spaces, clean and tidy, good food, a picturesque deck and the ocean views. A must do in Helsinki
The city of Tallinn is beautiful and full of history, but the time for a day trip seems a little less. The ferry was fine, but it was very crowded, it was difficult to get a seat. Also, the food is a little pricey. For those who just want to see the talons once in a while, it's okay, but there's no time to rotate slowly.
Amazing ship complete with multiple sit down and grab and go food options. Wide variety of seating to enjoy the views. Crew was friendly and helpful. Once we arrived I walked the Nautical mall and then grabbed an Uber to Old Tallinn. Loafs of shops for all sorts of fabrics and souvenirs and so many quaint places to eat or grab a drink. Loved the time to wander the town. Would recommend this to anyone looking to enjoy a day walking and investigating.
Very comfortable with different kinds of cozy chairs and a variety of food that people can choose. A large shopping area for spending time.
The Explore Tallinn: Self-Guided Day Cruise from Helsinki was a great experience. The Tallink Shuttle ferry was like riding on an ocean cruise ship. It had numerous lounges throughout multiple decks, several eateries, and shopping galore. During the two hour trip from Helsinki, Finland to Tallinn, Estonia, we barely felt the ship moving; it was the smoothest ship ride I’ve ever been on (and I was in the US Navy). The ticket agent was extremely helpful and courteous as was the crew and service staff. Our trip to Tallinn was marvelous, and I can only recommend this day cruise with the highest possible praise.
Great experience. Wow - we never knew ferries like this existed. More shopping, food, drink, seating options than we ever imagined.
GREAT experience from start to finish. Soooo happy we decided to do this day trip to Tallinn. 😍 !!!!
This was my first time on a cruise liner and it was an interesting experience. It's basically a floating mall. Once we landed in Estonia, it was great, things were cheap, the architecture was beautiful, the old city is gorgeous! You definitely have to check it out.
Does what it says on the tin A good selection of food and drink options, plenty of shopping available on board, smooth and uncomplicated journey. We were staying in Tallinn and went to Helsinki for the day
Easy check in, nice ferries, but would have appreciated info about best ways to get to Old Town and back. Four hours was too little time, but we didn’t want to leave before 10:30 or return later than the 4:30 ferry. Took a taxi to save time getting there, but had a problem getting a cab back to Terminal D, so we walked. It’s a long walk, consuming time. Otherwise, we loved Tallinn.
With a free day in Helsinki, we decided to take a ferry over to Estonia. The ship left right on time and was easy to find—our hotel was just a short walk from the harbor. I’d recommend arriving about 30–40 minutes before departure, as boarding can get a bit hectic with everyone rushing to get on first. The ferry itself was very comfortable, and the ride took about two hours. Tallinn’s Old Town is within walking distance from the port, though it’s not the easiest to navigate at first. We ended up following the spire of a nearby church and found our way without any trouble. The visit was absolutely worth it—make your way to the top of the town for a stunning view, and be sure to grab a map. There are plenty of great places to eat and lots of charming spots to explore!
Loved this cruise . There was an option to have linch on board which I took , the food was great , lots of delicious local delicacies.
It’s a little chaotic getting off and on the ferry. Otherwise the process was easy, the ferry clean and plenty of seating. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely go again.
Excellent Cruise, Mystar. Fantastic ambience and facilities onboard for a 2 hour ride. Its really value for money. One of the best short run Cruise I have ever experienced. The whole process of check in boarding was also very smooth.
I loved this cruise! We checked in and collected our boarding passes 45 minutes before departure, and spent a wonderful journey exploring the ship! The Baltic Sea and the scenery around is just beautiful. Tallinn is a wonderful city to roam and explore both the historical and the modern. I thought this trip offered major value for money.
This was amazing! The ship had everything you could possibly need and want. I traveled with 3 kids to Estonia on the 2-hr ferry. We ended up having dinner on the ferry ride back to Finland. Everything was perfect! I would definitely recommend to families traveling with children.
Great day trip to Tallin. Ferry terminal on both sides very easy to find. Getting on/off ferry really easy and plenty to do on the ferry during the crossing. Enormous duty free section!
Great one day visit from Helsinki. The ferry is very comfortable and well equipped. The process to convert the voucher to a ticket was simple and seamless at the terminal.
Great .very well organised and easy to follow instructions.Goood communication Highly recommended. Value for money.
A fabulous day out. The ferry was huge and easy to find a quiet spot for the journey. Highly recommended
The ferry was great and it is easy to get to the old town from the ferry port on foot. The ferry is comfortable and great value.
This is a cruise line that really excels in service, food and design. We have never been taken care of by staff as we were on this trip. I was amazed at how well they managed to communicate with everyone. Since this a European line, at least half of the passengers were not from the US. The food was sensational, and there were five restaurants to choose from with very different and eclectic menus. The surroundings were very elegant and the size of the ship (around 900) made it easy to get around. No slides, no race cars, and I only saw 3 toddlers all week. Now, the things I need to talk about because my wife uses a wheelchair. I think there are 5 pools, and none of them are really accessible. There is one pool with a lift, but you need to get a crew member to operate it. I think this takes away the freedom and feeling of independence if you want to use a pool. Two of our stops require using a tender that just didn't seem to be ideal. Also, once ashore it was just beach to navigate. Getting around the ship was no problem and there was no problem in any of the restaurants with seating. All in all I would recommend this cruise for its service, food and flair.
The ferry there and back is very comfortable and easy. I went for a few hours in the winter evening. Would recommend making it a day trip, more to see and do I think. But in spring and summer here night is fun too.
Tallinn, what an amazing city to explore on a walking tour. Our tour guide was Alis, she was brilliant, professional and extremely knowledgeable about the history of her city. In the morning we took the high speed ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn (2 hour trip). Alis took us on an informative tour of both upper and lower parts of the Old City. We visited the Old Town Hall, the Alexander Nevshy Cathedral and the Dome Church. Then we admired the magnificent views of the Old and New City from the upper city viewing platform. Following the tour we took a short taxi ride to the Sea Terminal and boarded the ferry. 2 hour relaxing trip back to Helsinki.
This worked out cheaper than booking with Ferry line. Easy to redeem voucher at self service checkin. Worth going totalling for the day, even on a Monday with lots if places closed!
