Our number one highlight of our week in Helsinki. Jeff was one of the best guides we have ever had. Very knowledgeable, especially about the fauna and flora in the park. The walk through the national park was delightful, topped off with a delicious meal by a lake. The afternoon in Porvoo was lovely. Nice church, quaint little town with craft shops, a local chocolate shop, ending with coffee and cake sat outside of one of the charming local cafes. In all a day to remember.

We will arrive at a wooden gazebo that sits nicely beside a lake in the national park. While your guide lights the fire and cooks lunch, you will have free time to explore your surroundings and take lots of photos. After the lunch break, we will walk back to the car and continue our journey. In total, we will spend approx. 2 hours in the national park.
From the national park, we will drive approximately 35 minutes to reach the medieval city of Porvoo. The next two hours will be spent exploring the old town's most popular attractions such as the 13th-century cathedral, the colourful village homes, the market square, and the famous Porvoo chocolate shop. It is an easy hike in a beautiful national park. Alex, our guide, was fantastic. He was so knowlegeable and easy-going he made the tour a delight. Lunch was fantastic, the best salmon soup we have had so far. Porvoo is a well preserved town with cool shops and little restaurants. I highly recommend this tour.
Thank you, Jeff, for a brilliant tour of the national park and Porvoo. Jeff is warm, professional, and a total expert on the local nature and history. He kept us entertained all day and was so patient with our endless questions. Our only regret is that we only booked one day!
We really enjoyed this private tour! The combination of the national park and Porvoo Old Town was perfect. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and made the day both fun and informative. The highlight for us was enjoying a delicious lunch by a frozen lake. Everything was well-organized, and the pace was just right for our family. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Helsinki!
A wonderful tour to discover the beautiful Sipoonkorpi National Park with a short hike to the lake, learning about the different trees, berries & mushrooms. We heard a number of birds calling. Jeff & Maree then cooked a traditional Salmon Soup which we enjoyed by the campfire after a walk around part of the lake. Served with rye bread, it was a delicious lunch. The hot berry drink was also very nice. The visit to the old town of Poroo was equally enjoyable. We loved the colourful cobbled stone & brick roads & pavement and old colourful buildings. Jeff took us to the old Lutheran Cathedral, so much history. Coffee at one of the old cafes warmed us up, and we then visited a number of craft shops & a photographer’s gallery/shop & Brumberg chocolate/confectionary shop. Such a great fun day with 2 knowledgeable friendly tour guides in Jeff & Maree.
This was a private day including a walk in a national park near Helsinki, with a delicious lunch of salmon soup, followed by a trip to the village of Porvoo. Alex was our guide and we thoroughly enjoyed his company. He was attentive to our needs and desires. He is personal and friendly. The tour was exactly as described and kept to the schedule. We were transported in a comfortable vehicle.
This was a great day for our family of 4. Jeff is exceptional - made it fun and interesting. He also communicated well regarding the rainy weather and potential remedies. The hike and tasty lunch were really enjoyable even with a little rain. The Porvoo visit was a bonus. My college age “kids” loved it. Highly recommend!!
An amazing day in the park and in Porvoo! Our guide, Alex, was phenomenal and the lunch he prepared was delicious. It was a wonderful day and worth every penny. Highly recommend.
Walking in the national park was easy, informative and enjoyable. It was a peek into another aspect of the Finnish culture, including the salmon soup for lunch. Porvoo added history to the outing. All in all, it was a great way to spend the day.
Highly recommended! Jeff our, tour guide gave a very knowledgeable explanation of local plants in the national forest. The camp style lunch was amazing and we were able to hike a bit. Porvoo was a quaint village with interesting history and yummy chocolate!
Truly enjoyed this outing! After a quick ride to a national park, we were ready to set out on our hike in the forest. It was raining at the beginning and our guide was more than prepared with rain jackets for everyone. We learned about different types of berries, mushrooms and local plants. Then we took a walk around a small lake while our guide prepared a delicious hearty lunch. Next, we ventured to Porvoo to look at the church and the old town. There were lots of small shops and charming colorful buildings to see. This tour was a fun mix of of nature and history, and was an excellent day trip from Helsinki. Highly recommend it!
Jeff was a nice guy. And he knew a ton about the country and the wildlife. The natural park was beautiful and the small town was great. It was a very low stress and enjoyable day. Highly recommend.
I had a 10 hour layover at Helsinki Airport thus took the golden opportunity to explore its train services and also took a taxi to Porvoo Old Town. From the tourist information office, I took a cooling relaxing walk along the Porvoo River to Porvoo Old Town and Castle Hill. With the tourist map that I have gotten from the office, I have no trouble getting to where I want to be. The day was sunny and splendid, thus I was rewarded with clear mirror images of the nature, boat, building upon the river water surface. I cannot stop myself from taking great photo on it. As I wondered through the cobbled alley, I started to observe the tiny beauty of every part of it. It is surely a quiet and serene town. A great place where you can practice mindfulness and calm your mind. The shopkeeper there were very nice too. The houses are wooden built which gave me a village feel. Nearby is Castle Hill where you can have a great walk too.
My family of 5 recently went on a 9-day Baltic Cruise which docked every day in a different country. When we stopped in Helsinki, we opted for the National Park and Porvoo Tour by Taiga Tours. At the end of the cruise, when I asked my kids what their favorite part of the cruise was, they all said it was this tour. Booking the tour was a simple straight forward process. Jeff, the tour guide, was waiting for us at the port when we got off the boat. He definitely inspired confidence and enthusiasm right from the start. The park was beautiful and relaxing. Jeff made a delicious fish stew and served up a tasty lunch. It was a serene and peaceful place, but Jeff himself was probably the best part of the tour. He is so interesting and full of information. Jeff pointed out wild berries and mushrooms along the paths. I had no idea that there was a special knife just for mushroom hunting! It was a unique and wonderful experience. We are so appreciative of Jeff and Kiia, who own and operate Taiga Tours. Next time we are in Helsinki, we will definitely be looking you up! Thanks!!!!
We had a very nice and relaxing trip on our recreation day to Sipoonkorpi National Park and to Porvoo Old Town. A short 30min drive from the city centre of Helsinki was only it took to get us into the park. Had a short 30min walk from the car to a nice spot next to a lake. The staff started to cook us dinner (a delicious salmon soup) while our group took some time to get around the lake. Some beautiful scenery and really relaxing atmosphere there. Bring shoes that you don't mind getting wet, if it has been raining! Then we gathered around a fireplace to have dinner and dessert and after that it was time to go to Porvoo. Went for a walk around the really sympathetic and beautiful old town with a lot of small cool alleyways between colourful buildings. After what we did some shopping and went for a drinks. Really nice trip, very nice and outgoing staff who loved to tell us about the nature. I would highly recommend this for example a recreation day activity for your team or to a foreign groups/couples visiting Helsinki who would like to get a glimpse of a true Finnish nature in southern Finland.
Top excursion with very friendly tour guides
Perfect outing. Everything worked as agreed, and our expectations were exceeded. Our guides were perfect :-)
Päivä oli kaikenkaikkiaan rentouttava ja vaivaton. Lounas Sipoonkorven kansallispuistossa ja tutustuminen Porvoon vanhaankaupunkiin oli mukava tapa viettää kaunis kesäpäivä.
