Porvoo Tour From Helsinki Or Vantaa

Our guide, Darius arrived on time in a spotless and comfortable car. He was polite and very friendly. He discussed Geological, anthropological, and classical history of Finland. Exactly the right amount of detail. He delivered the information in a discussion style instead of a lecture. We learned a lot about the city and about Finnish culture and people. I would definitely recommend him for this trip. He recommended a restaurant in Helsinki for salmon soup and it was a fantastic place. 10/10.

Great experience learning about Porvoo and Finnish culture. Darius was great and very knowledgeable. Did a walkabout, had a coffee break, time for shopping, and learned a lot. Half day trip, so leaves time for other activity in the afternoon. Convenient pick-up from hotel. Good pre-excursion communication from Darius.

We were on a cruise and Darius picked us up at the port and then dropped us off in Helsinki afterwards. We really enjoyed our tour to Porvoo. The town was beautiful and it was good to see areas outside of the city. The best part of the day though was our guide, Darius. He provided so much information on Finnish culture and did it in a fun an engaging way. Highly recommend this tour!

Highly recommend! Very convenient for a female solo traveller, you get picked up from your hotel, no having to navigate Helsinki to meet the tour. Darius is a wonderful story teller and I learnt so much about the Finnish culture. Fascinating and often humorous stories that you just won’t pick up unless you spend time with a local. Our guide Darius picked us up at the hotel for the 45 min drive to Porvoo which is a beautiful old city next to the river. The weather was nice so that’s the perfect setting for some nice shots. Darius is very knowledgeable and an excellent guide to take you around. If you have limited time to spend out of Tallinn this is a very good option to see the countryside and to discover a beautiful old city with a history.

The tour into Porvoo was exceptional due to our tour guide Darius! He went above and beyond to make our experience incredibly memorable. From the minute we got into the van, Darius gave us a huge history lesson about Finland.

Helsinki is great, but it’s become multicultural like most cities today. To get a look at a more typical Finnish village, check out Porvoo. The town has modern sections but also carefully preserves the historic buildings. The town has a significant place in Finland’s history as well. Darius gave us a very informative talk on the drive out on the history and culture of Finland, with amusing anecdotes to help us better understand the people. It was one of the best summaries I have ever heard. That background was helpful context for the sites in Porvoo. The arrangements were good and clearly communicated. This outing was one of the highlights of our trip!

Darius is a student of history and his passion for sharing it is clear. In addition to being extremely knowledgeable, Darius is also well organized and prepared. From his early arrival at my hotel to extra umbrellas for me and another guest to ward off the rain in Porvoo, we were in excellent hands. As others have noted, be sure to wear clothing and footwear appropriate for changeable weather and varied terrain.

Terrific tour for our three-generation trip to Finland! Darius picked us up promptly and his van was roomy (seats 6 passengers comfortably plus room in the trunk for bags). He has a microphone and speaker to make it easy for people in the back to hear him clearly – nice touch, especially for those hard of hearing! The 40-minute trip to Porvoo included his rich history of Finland which provides context for the current Finnish culture, food, religion, and more. This was our third tour, and we learned a lot that was not covered in other tours! Porvoo itself is lovely – a beautiful and typical Finnish town with a rich history. Darius moved comfortably at our pace – 3 generations means we can be very slow on uphills (and there are a few hills here!) – and stops included a coffeehouse with the top-rated Porvoo cake (we also stopped at a second shop for gluten-free goodies), the beautiful and typical church, the standard views of Porvoo, a chocolate/candy shop and more. Highly recommend this tour! Wear good walking shoes (all cobblestones!) and layers for the Finnish weather!

He told us lots about Finnish history and culture - most of which cannot be found online / from books, but only through a local person who knows the region very well and has close ties with the local community. We enjoyed the trip a lot and cannot recommend it enough.

I arrived earlier than my other organized tour, so that I can spend more time in Helsinki and around. I reserved this half-day tour on Viator way in advance. Darius picked me up at hotel on time and I was lucky, I was the only client! Loved the tour of little Porvoo, it is great to go with guide rather than alone, otherwise you won’t know some of the interesting details and stories.

Darius took us on a wonderful trip to Porvoo. We were picked up promptly at the appointed time at our hotel. The ride from Helsinki took approximately 40 minutes. Darius kept us occupied with historical, cultural and geographic information. The walk thru Porvoo was most enjoyable and informative. We also got in a bit of shopping and a snack at some of the lovely shops. As with other outings we’ve had in Findland…wear comfortable shoes and dress warmly.

A wonderful trip to see this beautiful town. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Had a lovely stop for coffee and cake and a chance to warmup on a December day. Pace of the tour was good and the transport comfortable.

My wife and I enjoyed our private tour of Porvoo. Our guide picked us up at our hotel in Helsinki in his comfy van and was great to talk with. He was very knowledgeable as history is his passion. We visited the sights in Porvoo, stopped for coffee and enjoyed a bit of shopping. I would highly recommend and would go again!

Phenomenal tour with Darius. Loved visiting Porvoo and enjoyed delicious hot chocolate and pastries. But the highlight was listening to Darius talk about Finland. We learned so much fun! Definitely do not miss this tour!

The tour gave little time for seeing the town on your own or even lunch. Everything was so rushed or it felt like we were being peddled to buy art or chocolate. The town was nice and the tour guide was polite.

Our tour guide, Darius, was very knowledgeable, he told us about the history of the town, history of the important buildings. This old town is very charming, we hit the good time for the beautiful fall colors too. It was a real great tour.

Peter was a great guide. He told us of the history of the area and town during our drive to Porvoo as well as answering questions about his background. He provided detailed explanations while we were walking around the town. We also enjoyed the stop for coffee and treats! We would recommend this tour for anyone wanting a day trip from Helsinki

Darius our guide was highly informative about Finnish history, relationships with Sweden and Russia. General information on the ice age onwards geological history, and customs and traditions of Finnish peoples. The walk was not long, but note ground is often uneven and sloppy especially to/from the cathedral. We certainly came away a lot the wiser.

Really enjoyed our tour to Porvoo with Tatiana. She texted us the afternoon prior to confirm pick up time and location which was our hotel. She had great information on Porvoo to teach us and was able to answer all our questions. Porvoo itself is beautiful and highly recommend going. This is well worth it.

Informative and rather entertaining. Has a lot to talk about and a fountain of knowledge of infomation that I have no idea despite being very educated in History and Geography. Nice and quaint town w/a lot of traits. Highly recommended and mostly for all ages...

This was a very pleasant way to spend 4 hours. Our guide introduced us to Finnish history and culture while on the way to Poorvu and welcomed questions. He was articulate and knowledgeable. The walk around Poorvu was at a leisurely pace and not too much for a septuagenarian with a cane.

We had superb weather and enjoyed walking around Porvoo and having coffee and a visit to the chocolate shop, which we all enjoyed. I would highly recommend this trip to future visitors.

Darius was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and walked at a great pace. Made sure we had time to stop and look in the shops that were run and had products made by Porvoo locals. Total time of the tour - picked up at 9 dropped off just after 1pm.

Porvoo was an interesting town though not in the league of Tallin for historic appeal. A well paced tour with Darius keen to pass on a wealth of knowledge about Finland.

This is a very good tour with a chance to visit Finland's second oldest town and to see a little of the area beyond Helsinki. Darius is a good guide. He has an excellent approach to touring the town. He gave us some background and walked us through the town. We stopped for local coffee and a special Porvoo pastry as well as entered some of the shops. We finished up at the cathedral which is a beautiful old wooden structure. We were given time to ask any questions that we had. The reason for a 4 and not a 5 is that I felt that it was somewhat flat or rote. I got the feeling that he had done this tour many, many times and there was no energy behind it but perhaps it was just an off day. I would recommend it.

We had a great experience with Darius. He picked us up as planned and was very informative on the way to Povoo. Povoo is a cute town and it was nice to see since we’d been to Helsinki before.
