Porvoo is popular with tourists during summertime and winter. Take a walk along the river and absorbed the picturesque sceneries.
The name and the invitation to see the city from above. Local folklore suggests the devil carved these steps to climb up to the cathedral and claim it for himself. In reality, Devil’s Stairs sits on Koulukuja (School Alley), historically serving as a natural route connecting two parts of Old Town. It provides a link between the higher hill areas and the riverside. Though steep and uneven, it’s a whimsical passage winding between wooden houses. At the top, a small lookout offers charming views of Porvoo’s rooftops and the cathedral.

Paulo was on time to pick us up and was a very good driver. He was full of information about life in Finland and where we were going. He also was full of ideas as to what we should do after our tour to fill in the afternoon. We had a very enjoyable day.
Paulo was an excellent guide. He was waiting for us as soon as we disembarked from the Ferry and he was easy to find in the parking lot. Our day was off to a great start. We had made arrangements ahead of time and he modified the itinerary based on our interests. On our way back from Porvoo, my teenagers enjoyed stopping at a Finnish McDonalds and going go karting in a bomb shelter. At the go karts, Paulo was able to speak Finnish to the staff which was super helpful, because there was a reservation and the staff didn't want to let us drive. The reservation group wasn't there yet, and we promised to get off the track if they arrived during our 10 minutes of driving time. Without Paulo's help communicating, we would not have been able to go kart at all. During the drive to Porvoo and back Paulo described Finnish history and even had maps for us to look at. He was entertaining and it made the drive go faster. Thank you for making our day in Helsinki a highlight of our vacation!

Amazing tour! Porvoo is a nice contrast to the cityscape in Helsinki, and I highly recommend taking this tour. Paulo himself is incredible. Extremely knowledgeable and an absolute joy to be around. I almost had to cancel my tour at one point due to a potential work conflict, and even though the tour page says no refunds, Paulo was willing to work with me on the cancellation. Luckily, I ended up being able to make it, and it was the highlight of my trip. I'm sure there are plenty of great Porvoo tours, but I highly recommend Paulo. He really went above and beyond, continuing to text me additional siteseeing, bar, and restaurant recommendations per my request once the tour was over. None disappointed. I was originally worried about the cost, as I was traveling solo and this was my splurge purchase for the trip, but it was worth every penny. Thanks Paulo!!

Good trip with conversations on Finnish history, lifestyle, education system, and current local culture. Lovely guided walk through Provoo with free time to explore a little on our own. Paulo is knowledgeable and flexible, definitely recommend him as guide to Helsinki and Provoo.
A great experience, our tour guide was Paulo, such an enjoyable day, he’s very knowledgeable and helpful with tips and advice on general Finland travelling etc and the sites and locations of Porvoo were great a nice place to visit for some history and culture.
Paulo knows just when and where to stop for great views and photos. We spent almost four hours, leisurely paced. Stopped at the top of the hill at the church, making for a downhill easy walk ti the main village. Great coffee and chocolates.
Our driver, Paulo made this trip a special occasion for us. He gave us a good background on Finnish culture on the way to Porvoo and answered our questions with wit and wisdom. His walking tour and knowledge of Porvoo was outstanding. He gave us good tips on what to see when we had our own time to explore the shops and cafes. On the way back, his commentary continued to enlighten us on every topic for which we had questions. A delightful city to visit, a great half-day tour, and a superb tour guide!
This was a very enjoyable tour and the guide was full of information about Finland. Communication prior to the trip was great through WhatsApp. He met us at our hotel and then drove us to Porvoo. We walked around the small town and then had about an hour and 15 minutes to shop/eat. This was plenty of time to see the town. On our way back we asked to stop at the Stone Church, which was also nice to see. Overall, this was a great private tour.
Paulo is very friendly and informative, making our journey to and fro Porvoo very interesting and not boring. When we arrived Porvoo, he helped us take many beautiful photos and I jokingly told him that he should be a photographer. His tour is very well planned and interesting. He speaks very good English too.

Our private local guide Paulo de Freitas is so attentive. He gave us information about the history, way of life of Finland during the drive to and from Porvoo. He shows us all points of interest in Porvoo, he is patient and accommodating. He is also multi lingual. We highly recommend him.
Last year we visited Helsinki during summer and after 2 days in town we decided that a trip outside the city would be a great idea. Contacted Paulo and decided to go with his suggestion to visit Porvoo. He drove about 40 minutes and shared lots of information about Culture, History and what makes Finland the happiest place to live. We learned a lot. Porvoo is a charming city to visit. We walked by the river, took lots of pictures and had a great lunch of local food. We all felt we had an absolutely amazing tour with Paulo and we highly recommend.
