Helsinki&porvoo Tour With Private Transportation & Personal Guide

This tour was a great way to learn about Helsinki and Porvoo. Our guide, Victoria was super knowledgeable and made the tour fun. She answered all our questions and gave us a out of insight to the culture of the Finish people. Definitely recommend this tour with Victoria as your guide.

Great way to quickly see the various tourist sites in Helsinki as well as the beautiful town of Porvoo. Unfortunately I was left with the middle seat in the 2nd row row of a car between 2 people and my seatbelt wasn't working. We had to drive on the freeway for 45 minutes to get to Porvoo. Tour operator has yet to respond to my what'sapp message as to why he allows for non operating seatbelts during his tour (hence the 3 stars only) for my rating. This is unacceptable!

I must say over a lot of tours and cruises, this is the worst trip ever undertaken. 6 adults in a small passenger van. The middle seat had to be folded down to enable 2 adults to get into the back. No visible sign of seatbelts there either. Front right seat immovable and no window working there. Our driver was hospitable despite going to the wrong location and only slightly late. When we saw the car we all commented on its small size. 6 people are very angry and despite communication with the supplier, they weren't in the slightest bit interested. Very disappointing. Framed up in the back we saw a lot of churches again. Not really interested. We declined. All had admission fees. We travelled around trying to see sights out of tiny windows. Hopeless. Onto Porvoo. 50k away. Would have been fine in a suitable vehicle but this wasn't suitable. The weather was poor and we stopped by the river to view the old buildings. The rest of the tour was done from the vehicle. We didn't get the opportunity to fully explore Poorvoo. We were given an hour for lunck, shopping etc but thar didnt give us the time to really explore. Not much point there. Back to Helsinki for one more stop. Tour over. Waste of money. Avoid!!! 2 other couples will be wrinting similar reviews on Viator as well.

While the tour itself was ok , unfortunately the mode of Transport made it very uncomfortable for six adults. When we booked they said it was for a private tour, we then received a message to say it was for six people which was okay. We were happy to share, but when the vehicle arrived it was a small vehicle. Whilst they said it could accommodate seven that was not taking into account that two people had to climb over seats to get into the back and the front seat, accommodating a very tall man, could not be put back further without hitting the ladies behind in the middle row. The man in the front seat was a tall and his knees were forced into the dashboard the whole trip. Being older people it was a significant struggle to climb over seating to get in and out of the vehicle it was squashy and because it was just an ordinary van , if the seats were on the wrong side of the vehicle we couldn’t see the sites . I could not recommend this trip for any more than four people and trying to put six people in such a squishy vehicle making everybody uncomfortable and unhappy was not conducive to a pleasant day. I would suggest looking elsewhere for a company that is concerned for its customers comfort and well-being Instead of trying to make as much money as possible at the expense of the clients comfort

This is not a tour. The sites in Helsinki and Porvoo are closed when you arrive. What a waste of $600 for my friends and I.

Extremely disappointing. I booked and paid for this tour then I received an email to say I was the only booking. The email asked if I was prepared to pay an additional 70 euro on top of the 105 euro I had already paid as I was the only booking and it would be a private tour. I said no. So initially I was told that I would be picked up at my hotel at 9.00. Next message said that pick up would be 10.30. Just after 10.30 I received a message to say that they still hadn't received any more bookings so they said that they would wait till 12.00 before deciding if my tour would go ahead. I was very angry as I had already wasted 1.5 hours waiting for a decision. I was not prepared to wait another 2 hours. My time in Helsinki was limited and I wanted to maximise my time. So I said please cancel my reservation and refund my payment. I ended up getting the local bus which was incredibly cheaper. I would recommend that people do this. Once in Porvoo it was very easy to walk around and to see the points of interest. I was not impressed. Wouldn't recommend you use this company. Disappointing that Trip Adviser is aligned with this tour company.

Our guide was excellent. Viator app sucks. Getting in touch through app didn’t work but did through standard text.

It was a joy to take this tour today with Victoria. She was very knowledgeable, and made things fun and interesting. All of the stops left enough time for pictures and general wandering around.

Overall a good tour of Helsinki major attractions before setting off to beautiful Porvoo. The tour driver and our tour guide was Finbaar. He gave a good thorough description of the sights along the way and got us back safely and on time.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learnt a lot about the history, culture, religion and architecture of Helsinki and Porvoo.

Did this tour from the port of Helsinki and adding Porvoo was a great choice. Such a pretty town! Sadly, the Uspenski Cathedral was closed on the day of our tour (closed Mon. and Wed.) but we still spent some time seeing the exterior. Although not greatly knowledgeable of the area, Solomon was very respectful and a good driver. My only suggestion would be to have a sign with customers names since there was a bit of confusion at pickup. This was my first time booking through Trip Advisor and it was a little confusing when it came to the choice of place we wanted to be picked up. My suggestion is to send a message to the tour operator stating pickup area and time you’d like to leave.

This was a very thorough tour historically. The tour rides by and permits short photo breaks at many sites in Porvoo and Helsinki. Finba was a terrific, knowledgeable guide who was very accommodating. The only negative is that the short duration of the tour did not permit lengthier stops.

Tour was great and made extra special by our guide Victoria. She was very knowledgeable and ensured we were back in time to join our cruise. Thanks for the great day.

The time of our trip was finally settled on 1pm after several confusing phone calls. A guide showed up at 1:45, blaming traffic, and drove us to our guide as he couldn’t find his way to our hotel. The 6 of us were squeezed into a very small van. The guide was new to the job and while very friendly and nice, did not have a great depth of knowledge. Also,he was from Nigeria so his background in the Finnish culture was lacking. No stories to add to the experience. His accent was heavy, and since there was no microphone the folks in the back could not hear or understand him. This was our last experience for the 2 weeks we had been cruising through Scandanavia and we were thoroughly disappointed.

A wonderful tour with a knowledgeable guide. Porvoo is a must see. Only complaint is we could have spent 2 more hours there was so many cool things to see.

The tour was very good, except for the added half hour. She charge us 50 euro, due to lunch that was serve late. She gave us 1hr time. But the restaurant was slow. I text her& told her, she said charge extra for being late. Due to her parking. I don't think was right. She didn't mention, she have to pay for parking.

When we booked this, it specifically said Private Tour. We would have been OK with another two people but the provider crammed six of us into a small minivan. My wife had to crawl into the back seat over the middle seat. It was very uncomfortable. We had to contact the provider the afternoon before to find out what time to meet, since no time was given anywhere in the paperwork/download. The driver showed up more than 20 min early and expected us to be ready to go. We did not go to all the places listed in the description. The driver seemed in a rush, and at least two places were never included in our tour. Our driver gave us some info, but most of the descriptions came from another driver, who met us at a couple of the stops, then disappeared.

A private tour to take at your own pace, with plenty of history and current status discussed. Guide was also funny and showed the must see places

Just lost the long review I wrote listing all of our problems with this tour. We don't believe we had qualified guide, the car had 6 guests squashed in, as opposed to the 4 advertised, while Finba had another car with 4 guests. He dipped in and out of our tour once or twice. We didn't visit all the advertised spots, and at many of those we did vist no information was provided. We had to pay entrance at some of the churches, which should have been indicated upfront. We should have foreseen problems when 3 confirmation emails did not give us our pick up time and we struggled to get this information. So, all in all, a poor experience!

Great experience! It was awesome to learn history and see the old town of Porvoo. Guide was very knowledgeable!

Our driver was great and very knowledgeable. A very good overview of Helsinki and the major landmarks. Porvoo eas a step back in time with the original structures still intact.

This is the best way to get around in a foreign country. One gets to see more than just a city. You get to see surrounding areas too.

The tour was fast moving and gave good coverage of the highlights of Helsinki and Porvoo. Adequate time was provided for photos when appropriate. The guide Finn was excellent and very accommodating. The guide gave a good overview of the history of both cities as well as the state of those cities today. Guide was always open to questions and did not hesitate to respond. Driving was safe and responsible.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This company markets this as "private and luxury" with "personalized service from a dedicated guide" and "flexible schedules tailored to you." You get NONE of that. Despite providing the desired pickup time FOUR MONTHS in advance and then checking in two days before the tour, the operator waited until our non-refundable payment was made 24 hours before the tour to tell us they could not accommodate our pickup time and drop off location because they had to cater to the schedules of others that had been grouped with us on what was expected to be a private tour. They explained that "private" only means that you don't take public transportation. They point to the finer print in the sub-menu that says "We occasionally merge groups to optimize tour operations" which means they sell this as a private tour that can accommodate your group of up to eight, and then turn it into a group tour filled with random travelers. Very intentionally misleading. The operator contact (Bonita) couldn't have been more rude in her handling of this situation, and refused to refund the payment. Her inevitable 500 word response that will follow this review is garbage. Do not make the mistake of booking this tour. (For the record, we are experienced travelers who have taken many tours through TripAdvisor and left numerous five star reviews. This is the first bad review I've ever left on Trip Advisor.)

Our guide was very friendly and very knowledgeable! Learned a lot and had a pleasant trip. Accommodating to our needs. Definitely recommend this tour.

Our driver, Finbar, was wonderful. He picked us up at our hotel and had lots of knowledge about the tour. He was attentive and making sure everyone understood welcomed questions. He then dropped us off for our cruise, making sure we were not late for departure.

Finbar was a nice guide, but the tour seemed a bit unorganized. Porvoo was a great stop! Make sure to stop in the chocolate shop.

We Had a great tour with Finba. He is VERY knowledgeable, friendly and funny.. he was a very conscientious and safe driver. This tour wasn’t “private” it was a total of 8 people so we made some friends . He drove us all through the city and out to Porvoo in a comfortable minibus.. It was nice seeing a different part of Finland Thank you Finbo!!!!

An absolute 10/10 experience! The private car tour of Helsinki and Porvoo was fantastic. Finba, my guide was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating historical facts and hidden gems we never would have found on my own. The car was clean and comfortable, and the pace felt relaxed yet thorough. Porvoo’s old town is magical, and having a knowledgeable guide made all the difference. Highly recommend!

The tour started in Helsinki & we toured the city area then to Porvoo. Porvoo is beautiful with its small red houses on the water. Our guide was very knowledgeable on the history of Porvoo & after the tour gave us a bit of time to shop also.

This was a good tour of some spots in Helsinki. The Roch church was very unusual. I wish we could have spent longer in Porvoo.

It’s ok but…. The tour is as advertised. It follows the scheduled stops as defined. Our tour guide Solomon was engaged and informative. Where the tour falls short is the overall experience and information. The info provided is basic and many attractions are just drive by views. The vehicles (vans and cars) are basic and not comfortable for the number of people in them. (6-8 people). We typically hire small tours in most countries. The best tours have a driver and tour guide with comfortable vans designed to carry people. This tour is not that. It is basic with sub-par agenda, narrative and equipment. For example when walking through Porvoo, the guide stayed with the car. We saw many other tours in town where the guide was walking with the group explaining the history and sights. If you’re a cruise passenger this tour is about equal to a ship tour, which I typically avoid at any cost.

Finba was really a fantastic guide! He showed us the most important sites of Helsinki and the very beautiful town of Porvoo with great competence and friendliness. I can really recommend him with great pleasure and gratitude.

Very informative tour with a brief overview of Helsinki and a quick visit to Porvoo. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and an excellent driver. This tour is not in depth, but a great resource for parks, museums and other places you may want to return to for a deeper dive.

I have taken many tours via Viator and have left many positive reviews, however, this tour was way below Viator standards and should be dropped from the Viator listing. It was an absolute disaster. Tour was listed as "Helsinki and Porvoo Tour with Private Car & Personal Guide". We booked for 2 adults. A total of 8 passengers were crammed into a minibus. I felt sorry for the last "elderly" couple to board as they were forced to cram into the far back area of the minibus. The guide "if you can call him a guide" had little knowledge of the area, was constantly on his phone and sending texts while driving. Not only did he have little knowledge of the area he made many negative comments of the local people and told a few "off color" personal stories. I could say more but you get the message. VIATOR; I STRONLY RECOMEND THAT YOU REMOVE THIS TOUR FROM YOUR LISTINGS AS IT HAS PUT A BLACK MARK ON MY OPINIOM OF YOUR COMPANY and I now have a hard time recommending you to friends and family as I have done many times in the past. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Private Tour of Helsinki & Porvoo with Victoria! We had an absolutely wonderful private vehicle tour of Helsinki and Porvoo with Victoria! From beginning to end, everything was perfectly organized. We were picked up right on time from our cruise ship, and Victoria made sure we were back with plenty of time before our departure, so we never had to worry about the timing. Victoria was so much fun to spend the day with! She was friendly, engaging, and incredibly informative. We learned so much about Finnish history, culture, and everyday life while seeing the highlights of Helsinki. One of the best parts of the tour was getting to travel outside the city to beautiful Porvoo. We loved experiencing the charming historic town and seeing a completely different side of Finland. Having the opportunity to explore both Helsinki and Porvoo made the tour feel extra special and gave us a much better appreciation for the country. Victoria was a fantastic guide who made the entire experience interesting, relaxed, and fun.
