Day To Porvoo From Helsinki: Medieval Old Town Guided Tour

The guide, Kirsten, was very informative. Unfortunately, there really isn’t much to see or do in Porvoo. Not sure it was worth the time or money to take this day trip.

Guide picked us up from hotel and we had great conversation on the way to Porvoo , on arrival we walked the town with the guide who was very knowledgeable about the town and its history . It's a great tour on history and we enjoyed it

Nice ride and beautiful day to walk in Porvoo. However, we didn’t experience much of a “medieval village”. Many businesses were closed, perhaps as the tourist season was ending. Our tour guide was pleasant but not very informed about restaurant closures etc. She could have been more organized about availability of restrooms and given us a longer lunch break.

It was okay. Not all that memorable. Not alot open because it was a Sunday. Not alot to see. Would not recommend it.

A fun day out of the city to walk around and see the old town. Some cute shops and fun coffee stops.

Lovely little town to stroll around but wear good shoes. All the streets are cobblestone and it's a bit hilly.

Harry was knowledgeable of the city and its history. We learned a lot about licorice and chocolate! 😁

Great day in Porvoo! Was nice to travel in a van, Daniella answered all our questions and gave an explanation about art and history in the town. Could have been longer as it was supposed to be 6 hrs but ended up being more like 5.5.

This was the perfect way to see Porvoo from Helsinki. We had a large family and we were picked up at our hotel. The guide, Daniela, was very knowledgeable and approachable. She showed us around the city, with a lot of interesting stores and history. Then we had plenty of time to get lunch, try pasties, and shop in the Old Town.

Guide was knowledgeable and gave a rich history of the tour. Maybe not on everything but still gave it her best

Recommend doing this on your own rather than through Viator if you are going to do it. Simple area with not a lot to see or do. Guide was not a trained guide, personable and nice but not really full of the facts we are used to.

This tour had all the components of “oh no” for Daniela. Six people but two different languages and one couple who got lost and arrived late. Being a holiday, their late arrival meant not just missing the planned bus but an hour delay because the next bus didn’t have enough seats left and then closures in Provo due to Midsumner holiday. She was calm and turned the wait into a unique extra tour of the buildings around the shopping area adding to our knowledge and insight of Helsinki. The operator was also quick to compensate for delay without bringing asked. Great customer service. The tour in Provo was wonderful - sites, pace, stories, time for pictures and local treat. Paula who was in training also deserves high marks - they were an exceptional team. We appreciated the quick thinking and calm approach to a difficult start and feel like we actually got a bonus treat from it. Definitely recommend and hope you get one if our great guides.

We had a lovely group of 6 who joined our day trip to Porvoo with Darius. Darius was a great guide. He gave us plenty of history of Porvoo and Finland in general. He also allowed us to have time for a coffee and their famous cake in the morning and a leisurely lunch. We never felt rushed. In fact the six of us all bonded during our tour and took several group pictures together. We were also blessed with a beautiful, sunny day.

This was one of my favorite tours of all time! The group was great, Porvoo was magical, and our guide, Darius was knowledgeable, friendly, and quite a joy.

This was a great day trip with sightseeing and shopping opportunities.

Very relaxing, easy day walking the medieval town of Porvoo and learning about Finnish history and culture. Cesar was full of knowledge and made me feel comfortable being solo on this tour. Day Trip to Porvoo Darius picked us up from our hotel right on time. During the 50 minute drive east to Porvoo, he shared a wealth of information about Finland, its customs, and its history, which made the journey both interesting and enjoyable. On arrival, we were greeted by the most beautiful winter wonderland — stunning red, yellow and green houses nestled amongst fresh snow. As we walked through the town, Darius explained the history and traditions of the people who live there. The pace was relaxed and comfortable, allowing plenty of time to take photographs of this most picturesque town. Every corner felt like a postcard. We also enjoyed some free time after the guided walk, including a peaceful stroll along the frozen river. The 15th-century cathedral was especially beautiful, standing proudly against the snowy backdrop. We sampled local coffee and cake before being driven back to our hotel after what truly was a spectacular winter’s day. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone — especially those wanting to capture perfect winter photographs and see the real Finland.

Spectacular and well coordinated Tour of Porvoo by Daniella! She was so knowledgeable and took.so many pictures for us and an amazing beauty here coupled with fascinating history!!!

This tour included transportation from Helsinki to Porvoo by public bus. We were told to meet at 8:50 am so that we could catch the 9:05 bus to Porvoo. One woman was late, so we caught the 9:25 bus instead. The novelty of the bus wore off as soon as we pulled out of the terminal, and the bus made multiple stops to drop off and pick up passengers along the way, so it was a longer transport time than if we took a van directly there. Once in Porvoo, I found the city underwhelming. Our guide, Francisco, gave a nice tour of the city, but he was soft spoken, and a couple of my friends could not hear him well. After the tour, we had free time to get a snack and shop before we had to meet to catch the bus to Helsinki (and I think we lost 20 minutes of free time since we arrived late due to the one person being late, and I really would have liked more free time). We met the 1:20 pm bus, but our guide was unable to pay for our tickets on the bus for whatever reason, and he had to go inside to get the tickets. The bus left before he returned, and we spent another 30 minutes sitting at the bus stop waiting for the next bus. Overall, this was a terribly planned tour, Porvoo was nothing remarkable, and I do not recommend this tour.

Great tour to Porvoo! I went solo but ended up making friends by the end, which made the experience even better. Harry was a knowledgeable and kind guide who shared interesting history along the way. Transport was smooth, the scenic views were beautiful, and I loved the local pastries and charming shops. Definitely a must-do tour!

Harry was a fantastic guide who was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the town and Finland in general. Easy walking, plenty of opportunity to browse, enjoy a coffee and walk the woods and frozen lake.
