Inspiring trip with Jeff being an uforgettable welcoming amd great host of the trip - not least increadebly knowledgeable about the nature of Finland. And what a lunch!! Huge recommendation from Copenhagen!
Beautiful hike to the sea through forest with a friendly guide who prepared us a delicious Finnish lunch
I highly recommend this tour. It’s a great way to see nature around Helsinki and get out of the city. The guide was very knowledgeable and the lunch was local.
Wonderful experience, informative and engaging tour guide. 😊 We had a rainy day so it can be a tricky hike, but was well worth it.
This was soooo fun! We were only in Helsinki for four days but we really wanted to get out into nature but with guidance and had no interest in traveling with a large group. Our tour guide Lydia was lovely. There were five of us in the tour total. We drove to an amazing location, the hike was not hard but not easy if you cannot navigate uneven ground. The lunch was spectacular and the views were stunning. I would do it again and highly recommend as a way to also learn a bit more of Finland’s history.
Wonderful trip into nature. It was nice to get out of the city for half a day. Annette was very friendly, passionate and knowledgeable. Lunch was delicious.
A terrific experience from beginning to end. Mari was friendly, highly knowledgeable, and very kind. She was attentive to the group and made sure everyone was included in conversations. I had no trouble finding her at the meeting location. The walk was very easy and beautiful.
We absolutely loved our Archipelago tour from Helsinki with Lydia. Lydia was amazing, she was knowledgeable and fun. Lunch was delicious. It was the last day of our Scandinavia trip and it was definitely a highlight of our trip for us. 💙🇫🇮 Darlene & Rick, Canada
This excursion was so great! Our guide was knowledgeable and willing to answer all of our weird and off-topic questions. She showed us her favorite spots in the forest and taught us about local plants and berries. We went to such a beautiful area and had time to explore alone, in addition to with the group. I only wish we could have spent longer there! Would absolutely go again.
Alex was an amazing guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all of the questions our group asked related to the nature of the area.
It was an amazing experience 🌲🪵🍃🫐 enjoying the wonder of natures with a narrative perfect for the occasion. Our guide Quintin was si nice and a great chef 🧑🍳 our picnic was delicious. Healthy and beautiful. Thank you
I was soooo happy with this walk. It was in a perfect day to be able to see and enjoy the wonderful view and nature. The smell of nature was so pleasant. The explanation and picnic was delightful. Thank you.
Very enjoyable relaxed experience. Easy short hike in a beautiful setting. Alex the guide was very friendly and knowledgeable.
From pick up to drop off the trip was lovely. It was a small group and Annette started with introductions to everyone. The journey was not too long and the last part was through the forest which was beautiful and green. Once parked we walked through the forest with regular stops to hear about the flora and fauna. Such an interesting history. Once we arrived we had an opportunity to explore whilst our lunch was prepared. We took a short walk and enjoyed the sunshine and dipped our feet in the Baltic Sea. The water was mesmerising reflecting off the sky, the views idyllic and the peace and quiet just incredible to sit, pause and relax. We all met back for lunch. Annette explained our local delicacies, which she had carried on her back from the van. My many dietary needs were catered for and I am extremely grateful, it is not often to get to enjoy a catered picnic when thinking about your diet. The communication about this from start to finish was excellent. Thank you Kia. We headed back a different route again enjoying our surroundings. It was a lovely way to enjoy Finland’s nature and I would highly recommend this trip.
The hike is beautiful, and the archipelago was nice and peaceful. It was a great experience overall.
I did this excursion a few years ago and since I was in Helsinki again, decided it was a perfect way to get out of the city, enjoy nature, and share the experience this time with my partner. It was a stellar day weather-wise and our guide Anette shared a lot of her knowledge both during our hike and lunch. The forest is incredibly peaceful and the terrain is easy but the stunning coastal views are the highlight of the tour. We could have easily spent the entire day exploring the coastline and adjoining forest. The delicious waterfront lunch Anette served consisted of salmon, potato salad, hearty Finnish breads, beetroot hummus, cheese, organic blueberry juice, and a pastry. Just an absolutely terrific way to spend our last day in beautiful Helsinki!
Porkalla is a beautiful peninsula. The trip was organised in every details with a nice finish lunch experience. Lydia was a wonderfull guide
The guide is amazing! Professional and committed to offer the information . Nature is beautiful all over Finland.
We loved this excursion. Jeff, our guide, was so knowledgeable about nature in the Finnish forest. We had delicious Finnish fish soup, Finnish bread and blueberry juice for lunch. The views of the Baltic Sea were beautiful. In spite of a brisk wind, the sunny day made the experience really enjoyable.
My excursion was a joy from start to finish. Mari was totally lovely. She was welcoming, and with a genuine warmth towards us. The vehicle was comfy and safe, and Mari’s driving was superb. The trek through the forest to the sea was so scenic and tranquil. Mari made us a hearty and delicious fish soup, and gave us a recipe card so we can try it out back home. I can’t thank Mari and Taiga Times enough for making my trip to Helsinki so joyful.
A brilliant trip out into the natural world to see the archipelago and experience some stunning and remote Finnish wildlife. Jeff looked after us at every step, explaining all the flora and fauna we saw, cooking us dome delicious salmon soup with rye bread, cinnamon roll for afters and blueberry juice and sea buckthorn shots to wash it down with, and giving us some free time to explore. As there were only two of us, we had Jeff's undivided attention and he really made us feel welcome and looked after. We saw many birds, quite a few deer and found some interesting trees and plants too. On our return, Jeff even dropped us right by our hotel. An absolute highlight of our trip.
It has been just amazing. Our guide Alex was really gentle and took care of us properly.
We had a wonderful experience with Alec in the Finish archipelago hiking through the woodlands. Lunch was delicious and enjoyable, plus we had some time to take a short exploration hike on our own. Recommend this activity for outdoors people!
This was a great experience. The hike was challenging (especially since it was mid February with fresh snow from the night before along the trail) on a particularly cold day. We hiked for about an hour to the shore of the Baltic Sea, and while our guide, Maria, made lunch, we walked across the ice to one of the small islands. We then had salmon soup for lunch. The tour company was very accommodating of our dietary needs (one woman is vegetarian and was given mushroom soup, and 2 do not eat dairy and were served the soup before the cream was added). I thought that the salmon soup was the best I’ve had since arriving in Finland. We then hiked back to the van. I thought Maria was an excellent guide and was able to tell us about the trees and the birds (I couldn’t believe we saw birds despite it being the middle of winter). Overall this was a really fun excursion.
Don’t hesitate, this was a lot of fun! Marie was terrific, patient and supportive of fast and slow walkers, everyone enjoyed! She answered all kinds of questions about being Finnish..
Guided walk in nature with warm lunch by a fire. Our guide Maria was very helpful & knowledgeable about the various plants.
It was great to spend time outside the city down at the sea. We saw otter tracks, showing where they had slid into the water. We also saw a deer with full antlers and some birds. It was very cold but the sun shone and the snow sparkled. Mari was an excellent guide. She carried a huge backpack full of food, drinks, firewood etc and cooked us a lovely salmon soup with rye bread and we had hot blueberry juice and cinnamon cake. She was very informative about the area and the wildlife and clearly loves her job. She was a pleasure to be with. We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone.
Excellent trip. Friendly guide. They had winter boots for those without proper shoes. Good lunch as well (salmon soup)
Great experience I would definitely recommend this experience as a valuable one to add to your overall travel journey. The tour guide Alex was excellent!
It was great experience. We found lingonberry and blueberry and met a deer. The guides were very kind and explained us about the origins of forest.
What a fantastic experience just outside Helsinki. From the woods and rocks walk, the the gorgeous shoreline and the delicious lunch, we could not imagine and better introductions to Finland’s natural world. Our guide, Annette, was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and gracious. As a former outdoor guide myself, I was impressed with how she accommodated the varying abilities of our mixed age group. Foraging for berries and mushrooms was a particular highlight for our group. The rest of our week in Helsinki was deeply informed by our glimpse into the importance of nature in Finnish culture. Just a delightful outing!
Excellent tour. Our tour guide, Jeff, was knowledgeable and engaging. The whole tour was informative and enjoyable. The scenery by the shore: stunning. Highly recommend!
Our tour guide, Jeff, was fabulous. Very knowledgeable and professional. He made the tour engaging, informative, and entertaining. The view at the shore was stunning and calming. Highly recommend for the gorgeous view of the rocky shore.
Excellent Tour ! We had a very knowledgeable and enjoyable Tour Guide who was originally from Toronto. The typical Finnish lunch in an ideal setting by the sea was awesome !! Too bad there was no coffee to complete the lunch. ☹️
Annie was super real and welcoming, which made the experience feel like a friend hangout, which is rare to find. The lunch was great and I had a wonderful time
Max was a wonderful host and provided a very tasty lunch experience. He had lots of forest knowledge to share. The walk was quite beautiful and rustic.
We had a great time walking around and having a nice lunch, it's very quiet and relaxing, and a nice way to switch up our time exploring Helsinki to see something outside the city!
The pickup spot was conveniently right outside the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma and our guide (Kiia) was wonderful. Warm, engaging, and full of great conversation throughout the day! The forest walk was beautiful and she shared lots of interesting things from hiking signs to identifying blueberry and lingonberry bushes. Lunch was also amazing where everyone also had a tasty cup of blueberry juice. I'd love to go on this again the next time I find myself in Helsinki!
This trip was a lovely walk through nature to a beautiful spot to have a nicely prepared Finnish lunch. We had free time to explore and the hiking was not strenuous. The guide was personable and informative. Picking blueberries on the walk was a highlight.
A very nice easy hike and delicious light lunch with a very attentive guide. You will really enjoy the scenery.
Max was a very friendly guide and explained everything really well. Nice lunch and we had a ahold time. Max walked us through the different aspects of the forest and its relation to nature.
Great tour. We were a small group, so we got to know each other well. Alex was very personable and kept us informed along the way. He prepared a nice lunch for us to eat in the park. Some wildlife sightings along the way. I am a senior, but the hike was easy. Alex provided walking sticks, water and even toilet paper for the rather rustic toilets! He obviously loves what he is doing. It was nice to get out of the city and enjoy some beautiful scenery and the Baltic sea coast.
Although it was a rainy day, the Archipelago walk went on smoothly and all participants had a great time. Didi was our guide and she was a good communicator.
Fabulous half day tour. Great way to see and learn about the flora & fauna of southern Finland. The hike from the parking area to the Baltic Sea was easy. The seaside lunch featuring local fare was very nice.
Tour guide was very friendly and had great insight into the wildlife encountered on the trip. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Finland and looking for a little nature trip outside of Helsinki
I visited Helsinki for 9 days and had lots of adventures, experiences, and sightseeing during my stay, but this tour was by far my most favorite adventure. Our tour guide was a handsome man named Alex, who was one of the kindest, most attentive humans I've ever met. He was also super excited about all the plants and animals that we encountered, and the beauty of Porkkalanniemi Park. His passion for nature kept us engaged. He frequently, casually, reminded us to just look around, hear the wind, breathe the fresh air, and understand that we were blessed to be on this outing together. And who were "we?" We were random people from all over the world who met the tour van in front of the library in Helsinki to go on this hike - two Americans, one Egyptian, one Japanese, one Korean, one Chinese, one Canadian, one German, and our Finnish guide Alex. Perhaps it was because we were all the type of person to choose a tour like this, but everyone was awesome and we all got along great. The van was clean, modern, and Alex was a very safe driver. He made sure to put the folks who may get car sick in the front seat with him. He asked all of us if the temperature in the van was okay, and if we wanted the windows open. The drive to the park was about 30 minutes. We went on a sunny, beautiful day - but the temperature was in the high 50s, lows 60 degrees F and it was windy. Alex had extra jackets in the van for anyone to borrow if needed. Upon arrival, Alex offered toilet paper and hand sanitizer to anyone who needed the outhouse, which was near the parking lot. He took the lead on our easy, beautiful hike through the forest so that he could keep an eye out for any snakes that may be on the trail. He pointed out deer, a lizard, birds, and all sorts of plants and trees. He explained the hiking, camping, and foraging rules/culture in Finland. The trail ended on the rocky shore of the Baltic Sea. At this point, Alex encouraged the group to go explore for 25 minutes while he prepared a most delicious picnic lunch of traditional Finnish foods. He gave us his cell phone number in case anyone got lost. When we got back to the picnic table, we feasted and everyone was smiling and looked to be truly enjoying themselves. Once lunch was over and cleaned up, we hiked back to the parking lot and safely arrived back in Helsinki 30 minutes later. Thank you Alex and my tour mates for this truly amazing experience!
Max was personable, knowledgeable, and great with our family! We loved exploring the Finnish forest and coast with him - his love for nature and this country were obvious. Our 7 yo thought this was the best tour she’s done yet!
We were coming to Helsinki for a conference and wanted to do as much sightseeing as we could during our visit. We chose this tour and it went beyond our expectations. It is a small group, only 8 of us. We were strangers at the beginning and friends at the end. Our guide Alex, was educational and entertaining. He was respectful of differing hiking abilities. We never felt rushed or held back. The lunch he prepared was delicious and beautifully presented. It was well worth the price and it created memories for a lifetime.
The trip was great. An easy pace with a wonderful and very knowledgable guide who knew the area well and was well travelled himself. Lunch was a nice surprise. I would recommend the trip to anyone capable of walking around the streets seeing the other sights Helsinki has to offer.
