Itinerary
Senate square (Senaatintori in Finnish) is our meeting point, and it is probably the main tourist attraction, where the history of modern Helsinki begins. Here we will discover the three beautiful buildings around us!
Helsinki Cathedral or the White cathedral is the most famous landmark in the city that you have probably seen pictures of. If the church is open, we can go inside and learn about the religious mindset in Finland. If we are lucky, we can also enjoy some music inside the church! (we don’t go inside the church in the summers because of its 10€ entry fee. It´s closed on Sundays, most Saturdays, and in public holidays)
"Torille" is a famous Finnish phrase, which means "to the market" ! Let´s visit the market square to find out what that means! What Finns usually eat or drink, and what can you buy from Helsinki to take home with you?
We will give you a complete guide to a Finnish sauna and give you some recommendations on the best saunas in the town. Let’s learn why Finns are so crazy about sauna?! Allas sauna is located right next to the Gulf of Finland, so here we’ll also get a nice sea view and talk about Suomenlinna fortree island and how you can visit it after the tour. That is highly recommended place to visit as it is a UNESCO heritage site.
Why do we need two Cathedrals in Helsinki? This one looks different than Helsinki Cathedral, let us find out the reason! We will visit this beautiful cathedral from distance, when we visit the market square.
Probably the most famous and the most iconic statue in Helsinki!
Locally known as Helsinki’s champs de elysee, is home to Kappeli restaurant and Espa music stage. In the middle, stands Runeberg's statue, the national poet of Finland. Here, we will also learn some fun facts about Finland.
The first cafe bar in Helsinki, and probably the reason why Finns are so much in love with coffee and coffee break!
Aleksi is of the main streets in the city center with many beautiful art deco buildings, each of which has a lot of amazing stories to tell about the Finnish culture!
Central train station of Helsinki is a beautiful landmark in the city center guarded by four massive statues who have many stories to tell us! We will also pass by two other beautiful buildings: Finland’s national theater and Ateneum museum (Finland’s national gallary).
This is the modern district of the town, surrounded by beautiful post modern buildings, so you will realize why Helsinki was chosen in 2012 as the world’s capital city of design!
Oodi library is the highlight of the tour, where you will need to change the definition of a library you have on mind, because this is different than any libraries you have ever seen, and it is gonna blow your mind!

Absolutely smashing guided tour of Helsinki - gateway to getting a flavour of Finnish culture
The host was warm, knowledgeable, witty, and funny, making the tour both informative and enjoyable. The tour covered all the major sights of Helsinki, with a good explanation of each stop and its significance. Overall, a great way to explore the city and learn about its history and culture. Highly recommended!
Excellent guide- this is an entertaining, well-organized and informative tour. Highly recommend for all visitors to Helsinki.
Educational. This tour was done by a wonderful guide who was always smiling. I came off the boat from Stockholm to Helsinki and came straight to this tour and was not disappointed at all. I recommend this tour to start your visit in Helsinki.
Great walking tour, we learned a lot about the history of Finland, and what to do and see in Helsinki!
Excellent tour by Tatiana! Fun and fascinating, well worth a nice tip but she wouldn't accept so I am hoping this encourages you to give her your business!
Tatiana, with a master’s degree and years of experience living and learning in Helsinki provided such an interesting and informative city tour of Helsinki. She provided the history, cultural aspects and personal tips that made her tour exceptional. Matt of fact, I had another city tour today that did not come close to offering as much information as she provided in the 2+ hours. This afternoon I went to two places Tatiana had recommended and loved them both. Walking tours are the best and, if you get Tatiana, you will really love the tour! Enjoy!
Great tour. A lot of information is shared with a really upbeat energy. Tatiana was careful to make sure we all kept warm on a cold day, found places for us to get inside and warm up for a few minutes during the tour. Excellent.
Great tour of Helsinki with Tatiana. She was so knowledgeable and friendly, that it made the whole experience fun. We learned loads about Finland and the city’s history, had a lovely long walk in the sunshine, and appreciated all her recommendations for getting the most out of our time in the city. A great experience that we way preferred to visiting a museum to get the same depth of information.
Katy was incredible. Super lovely and very knowledgeable. Best thing I did in Helsinki. Katy also had some great recommendations for our other days in the city and she was also right about those :)
Wonderful walking tour with Matti, who spoke flawless English. The tour was well-paced; we covered a number of important sights within two hours. Matti’s dialogue was informative and engaging, both about the sights we saw and life in Finland generally. Highly recommend!

It was a informative tour. Love how Macy kept the information without drowning in too much information it gets boring. She is so knowledgeable about Helsinki and Finish heritage. The pace was steady and had time to take pictures Her recommendation in the library was spot on.
Helsinki was the first stop on our Nordic/Scandinavian adventure. Our tour guide was engaging, funny and very knowledgeable and gave us an amazing walking tour of Helsinki’s major sites. He also gave us a few recommendations for some food choices, which were fantastic suggestions because we visited them after the tour was over. Highly recommend this tour. You won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful way to spend a few hours in Helsinki! Our Irish tour guide, Ed, was incredible! Articulate, passionate, interesting and, at times, humorous, he presented a beautiful picture of his adopted country. Ed shared a wealth of information in a concise, organized easy- to-understand format. One of the best tours, of this kind, that I have ever taken!

Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the city. Great guide who knows the history and has a great attitude to working with tourists
Saw the main sights and it was nice. A little too much standing around, maybe the tour was too long for the sights. Still good history. Worth it.
Excellent walking tour and our guide Katy was very informative.
This walking tour of Helsinki was a great way to be introduced to some of the main sights. Our guide, Maati, was engaging and very knowledgeable. He answered questions and provided a lot of local history while we walked. Finishing at the Helsinki Library was an inspired choice, it really showcased the city as it is today.
Great tour, highly recommended. It takes around 2 hours and you get the chance to learn about city and the history.

What a great interesting and informative tour of central Helsinki. Good history and architectural knowledge and great presentation.
What a great tour! Matti was fab - very knowledgeable, entertaining, and had a great sense of humour.
Absolutely superb! Matti provided both an historic and contemporary review of Helsinki.
Good discussions on history to give context to places, people and events. Our guide also was entertaining and gave many tips of what to see and do.
Well paced, informative and engaging. Matty presented us with a remarkable amount of knowledge and delivered it in a way that felt conversational and fresh rather than rehearsed. That's no mean feat! He did well at keeping the group together (although I personally would have liked slightly faster walks - but our group was on the older side) and finding spots for us to sit down. I liked the information and I feel I understand Helsinki and Finnish culture much more. Kiitos!
